Nexus S 4G Update to Android 2.3.5 Begins Rolling Out July 25, WiMAX Gets a Speed Boost

The delayed Nexus S 4G update we first heard would be launching back on July 11th is once again on track to hit handsets, and as suspected the firmware will take the phone’s platform version up to Android 2.3.5. The update doesn’t include anything near as exciting as the built-in video chat functionality found in Android 2.3.4, but it will bring along some WiMAX enhancements for boosted 4G speeds, improved speakerphone quality, and TTY support.

The update is scheduled to being offering relief to those experiencing shoddy WiMAX performance starting Monday, July 25th. We’d bet that an Android 2.3.5 update will be headed to non-4G Nexus S devices sometime soon as well.

Nexus S 4G Software Update Roll Out Begins on July 25, Boosts Data Speeds
Nexus S™ 4G is getting a software update designed to improve 4G data speeds for users and provide several other updates. The release will begin rolling out to Nexus S 4G handsets on Monday, July 25. All users should receive the update in the next three weeks.
In Sprint’s preproduction testing, Nexus S 4G showed excellent performance. After receiving feedback from a small number of our customers, we conducted a secondary analysis of its performance with our partners at Google and Samsung and were able to identify some ways we could boost performance on Nexus S 4G.
These enhancements should increase 4G data speeds and signal strength for users. The software update also improves Wi-Fi connectivity, speakerphone audio quality and adds TTY support for the deaf and hard of hearing.

Today, he’s releasing Android 2.3.5 through DL so that OG owners can have it before almost any other smartphone. There aren’t a lot of spicy changes, but there are new GApps, an updated Search app that is not in the market yet, Gtalk with video and the new market.

Android 2.3.5 for Nexus S 4G Brings Improved 4G Speeds

Is your Nexus S 4G receiving slower-than-usual 4G speeds? Sprint aims to fix that today, as they release Android 2.3.5 for the device. The OTA update also fixes some minor WiFi bugs, adds a 4G toggle widget, and oficially enables NFC. Hopefully this update will boost Nexus S 4G sales as well. Now, the real question here is "Are there actual improvements in 4G speeds?" Engadget says yes, as they have provided us with some screenshots showing 4G speeds on an updated Nexus S 4G (the speeds on the left are the updated device, and those on the right are from a 2.3.4 Nexus S 4G).

App2SD is a tool to help move app to SD card to save internal storage of phone. It's very easy to use, and when you open the app, you will find 3 tabs: "On Phone", "On SD Card", "On Phone Only".

"On Phone" - apps are installed in internal memory of phone and they can be moved to SD card.
"On SD Card" - apps are installed on SD card.
"On Phone Only" - apps are installed in internal memory, but they are not supported to be moved to SD card or they are not allowed to be moved to SD card by the system limitation.

In the "On Phone" app list, click on the app that you want to move app to SD card, and you will get a application details interface, then click the "Move to SD card" button and wait for it's done.

It's same to move apps back to internal memory, just go to the "On SD Card" tab, click the apps that want to move.

By long click on the app, there will be a poped up context menu for more options, you can click "Uninstall" to uninstall the app.

This is the donate version of Wheres My Droid. It includes the same features than the free version. It's just a donation to support the developer to keep it up. You'll need to remove the free app first, and then download and install this one.

Since we don't have phones anymore, but mini-computers in our pockets, losing them it's a drama. There are coming up thousand of security apps: backups, geolocation, apps lock, and many more. This is one of the most interesting we've tried regarding device losing.

It works this way: you have to set an "attention word". When you lose your device, the only thing you have to do is send a SMS with the attention word to enable the sound (if it's disabled), and make it ringing. Regarding GPS, you have to set also an attention word but it doesn't work if the GPS wasn't enabled before losing the device. That's a flaw since if we want to use this system we need to keep the GPS enabled the whole day. It would be better that the attention word could enable the GPS.

This is the basic performance. However, there are lots preferences to set to your whim: ring/vibrate when lost, use white noise siren, ring for 30s/60s/5min, set a passcode for the app, and much more.

Wheres My Droid has been developed by alienmanfc6, an emerging developer who's reaching great success specially Thanks to this app. He has released another ones on the Android market though.

This is an app that you won't use everyday (and we hope you won't need to use it never). But you will love having it when you're in a hurry and you don't find your phone. Useful.
