Oggz are designed to bring peace and tranquility to any room. Each Oggz Lamp is lite form the inside by a series of LED lights that cycle through all 7 colour changes over a lazy two minute period. Being portable you can rest these things on any 'flat' surface, where they will last for over 5 hours. To recharge them, simply rest them on their smart, silver, triangular stand that also acts as their charger. Each Oggz is approx 9.0 x 6.4 cm which is one big egg really!Source

If you have ever fancied owning an aquarium, but thought it would be too much work, then the Antworks space-age ant farm could be just for you. Based on a NASA experiment to study how ants tunnel in zero-g, the Antworks ant farm is a stylish and self contained environment for ants. The transparent housing is filled with a special nutrient rich gel which, not only gives your ants everything they need for a healthy life but also relieves you of the responsibility of having to feed or water them.
The kit doesn't include the ants themselves, but does include an ant catching kit and mail order vouchers for ants if you really can't be bothered. And one last thing to answer a lot of questions: Apparently the Gel can be re-used time & time again, and most ants live up to 6 months.Source

Originally there was the 'Wild Sling'. A water bomb launcher that required three people to operate. Call it a heavy weapon water bomb launcher if you like. Those that owned these brilliant inventions, would use them with some mates and totally soak their neighbours, friends and total strangers. These were the halcyon days of water bombing. Then when other friends were about, they'd soak their mates who helped them the first few times to fire it. Eventually as more and more friends became the targets for a soaking from above, then the supply of friends to help in launching dried up (Or not as the case may be).
Finally, the Wild Sling owner was left with his water bomb launcher and no one to help. Down the local park, even the trees could no longer help as their branches had been broken off by over enthusiastic Wild Slingers. Ahh, I hear you all cry! But before you all get teary eyed with sympathy for our unslung heroes, some good news has arrived from the makers of the original 'Wild Sling'. Wild Sling - Solo (Hurray I hear you all cry!)
No longer do you need any friends (Not that you have any left anyway)! The Wild Sling Solo will launch your water balloons up to a range of 120 ft, all under your own power and without the help of any friends. Simply lie back, put your feet in the stirrups, insert said water balloon and pull back on the sling.
Once your intended target comes into view / range (I wouldn't get set-up too early for this as the strain might be too great), simply let go and giggle with glee as you watch the balloon sail through the air with the greatest of speed. N.B: Original Wild Sling owners should beware, you no longer have two friends to help you out of any bother that you might get yourself into and you can no longer split up to avoid the Police.

First of all you might think why is this on Pointless But Cool, its not cool and those guys usually review really cool stuff, right?... Yes, that's right! This weird futuristic glowing cube is not powered by batteries, it doesn't have any cords, even though it will glow all night long... Pretty cool for a lightbulb, huh? OK, now to the Science. This lightbulb is no ordinary lightbulb, it is indeed solar-powered and it soaks up natural sun light during daylight hours to keep it glowing all night long (or when the lights are off!)

The Glow Brick Green is a little oxymoronic in its appearance. Obviously, someone was thinking outside the box when they came up with this ingenious night light despite what the design tells you (you know, the light bulb symbolizing the idea and the solid acrylic brick being the box?). Not only is the Glow Brick Green stylish but its name, goes farther than delimiting its color but also evokes its environmentally conscious construction as a green, eco-friendly way to add some atmosphere to a room.

If you think the bulb inside the Glow Brick looks like the familiar incandescent bulbs from the fixtures in your home, you’re absolutely right! It’s a standard light bulb that has been filled with a glow-in-the-dark pigment. Encased in the acrylic brick, the light diffracts to create a beautifully and enticing shroud of radiance.

Sitting on your desk throughout the day, the Glow Brick may just look like an odd curio but it’s actually charging itself — absorbing UV light which it releases to give off its peculiar glow. The result is an intriguing light source completely independent of everything except the sun to make it work. No switches, no cords or plugs, just give it sun by day and the Glow Brick Green will give back to you a unique brilliance of its own.

Forget international roaming and WAP capability, phones were far more entertaining in the good old days. Unwieldy hunks of plastic with clunking great dials, shrieking bells, pulse dialling and, best of all, chunky handsets. You remember; the hefty dumbbell-like things that you could barely balance between shoulder and ear. Needless to say there's no place for such impractical appendages on today's slimline mobiles. Or is there?

Because despite a relentless stream of mobile telephonic innovation, talking on the phone just isn't as satisfying as it used to be. For starters you can't slam a mobile down in disgust, chuck the receiver skywards in delight, or re-enact your favourite 'This is the Sweeney, sunshine, and we're comin' ta get ya!' TV moment. Fortunately, all that's about to change thanks to the technologically advanced but hilariously retro Phobile handset. Simply plug this highly evocative hunk of shiny retro-ironic plastic into your mobile via an adapter and you'll be the envy/laughing stock of all those who encounter you.

Note: Phobile is now supplied with 6 adapters. But since there’s no information showing whether or not the pub is made from puncture-resistant material, we suggest that everyone in the inflatable pub not bring any knives or needles.Source

Looking like a left-over prop from the Prisoner, or some sort of atomic model, this collection of inflatable white pillows is actually a chill-out room.
Inflate it, climb in and escape into your own private space, comfortingly caccooned in soft whiteness. Relax in your space until you are at one with yourself once again or at least until the kids shut-up and the in-laws bugger off home. Source

The camcorder's two lenses work in unison with its 3 MP image sensor to record slightly differing images which are interlaced to create a video anaglyph--a 3D video. Videos are recorded in 640 x 480 pixel resolution as AVI files. A 4 GB SD card (sold below) stores up to four hours of video or 2,000 3D still images (JPEG). The camcorder's 3 1/4" TFT display shows content in 3D (no glasses required), and movies can be viewed on the included media player's 7" screen because it is overlaid with a parallax barrier that displays video in 3D without the need for 3D glasses (content is transferred to the media player with an SD card). Media player includes speakers and a headphone jack. The camcorder can also shoot standard (2D) movies and pictures for display on the media player in 2D. Includes USB cable for copying content onto a computer. Its rechargeable battery provides two hours of operation from a six-hour charge; the media player uses an included AC adapter. Camcorder 4 1/2" H x 1 1/2" W x 3 1/2" D. (6 oz.); media player 5 1/2" H x 8 1/2" W x 4" D. But Apple didn’t stop innovating with the body’s design. The MacBook Pro also includes a new 13-inch, LED-backlit glass display (instead of an LCD panel) as well as a glass trackpad that doesn’t include a button (for larger tracking area) that features Apple’s Multi-Touch technology.

What’s more, this 13-inch MacBook Pro (model MB990LL/A) also now includes Apple’s innovative built-in notebook battery for up to 7 hours of wireless productivity on a single charge without adding thickness, weight or cost. Not only do they have those hot netbooks, but they have just added to their success with the world’s first Skype Certified videophone called the AiGuru SV1.

The AiGuru SV1 allows the user to make unlimited phone calls with a webcam, speaker, and microphone, and to see the person he or she is calling with the seven inch screen.

Of course, Skype is a funny thing. There are those who cannot do without it, and there are those who have never tried it. If you are in the former category, then you probably work in some business that requires a lot of video conferencing with clients. If you are in the latter category, then you should also find the SV1 easy to use with an “icon-based interface and intuitive button layout”.

As for the Net connection, the AiGuru allows for an 802.11 b/g wireless or to Ethernet via router. As for the power, it has a rechargeable battery that can operate for about 20 minutes. Worded another way sony are selling you 2.1 surround sound but fobbing it off as virtual 5.1 surround sound. unfortunately, there’s no word on price or availability in the US, however in the Europe our sources tell us June 2008 release. Source

Another Android smartphone is leaked, but unfortunately we can’t say that it is going to start its sales any time soon. This time it’s Sony Ericsson who fancy Android for its top range mobile phone, for next XPERIA division model to be precise. Parallels with HTC Hero here are possible, of course, but I fear they would be untimely because Rachel, so is its codename, sports some interesting features that make it stand out a bit.

There is not much to say about the next Sony Ericsson XPERIA, but we already know that it might whop Hero’s nose. First of all, SE is preparing an 8 megapixel camera with autofocus. Nothing with more humble pixel density was expected for the XPERIA because guys at Sony Ericsson were always taken up with cameras. Which probably explains an over 12 megapixel phone from them by the end of the year.

Now, there is more. HTC Hero comes with 528MHz processor. The XPERIA in turn is expected to be fitted with a latest 1GHz processor. That of course would make a difference no matter what the phone will be used for.

The last thing so far is the OS. SE Rachel is rumored to be one of the first devices out there with Android 2.0. This fact arises questions like whether it will have something at least remotely like Sense UI? Or one which is even more actual: how long to wait for it? All we know is that Android 2.0 comes in autumn, hopefully Rachel also.Source

The Playstation 4 (aka PS4), Sony's upcoming game console, will bring along the next generation of video game systems with enhanced view and sensors for better gaming experiences. The graphics and processing power will of course be unprecedented, as we've come to expect with Sony's Playstation brand. The gameplay itself is also sure to be revolutionary. Sony has recently released some information about the PS4 and how it will work.

As you can see, Sony has unveiled a new look for it's latest Playstation, ditching the shiny black veneer of the previous model and opting for a more neutral grey/white color. This new look is quite stunning to be honest - it retains the style and sleekness of the PS3 design and still looks incredibly high tech, but the lighter shade is sure to attract some more casual gamers, a demographic that Sony will sorely need to cater to in order to succeed, as has been witnessed by the Playstation 3's current situation as the least successful video game console on the market, way behind the Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360. Clearly Sony has learned their lesson that they will need to chase a more mainstream, casual audience with their new Playstation 4.

It has also been announced that Sony will take another cue from the Wii and pursue motion-sensing controls much more seriously than it did with it's last generation machine. Rumor has it that Sony's new controller will take motion-sensing controllers to a whole new level - Early indicators suggest that the Playstation 4 will use a glove-like device that the user will wear, along with a motion-sensing force field, vest, remote, helmet, and standard controller combined to create a totally immersive gaming experience with as few buttons as possible.
Source

There's a 4.3" TFT screen that displays all the popular formats -- DivX, xVid, MPEG, and WMV. Aditionally, a USB 2.0 port is built right into the player, allowing for immediate transfer from flash drives and other USB devices.

Just when you think that everyone’s forgotten about the Apple tablet, here it comes again, smacking us right in the head with novelty. This time, we’re dealing with a prototype of the device, or better said some very cool photo manipulation and render, done by Lucas Rosa. This “miniature laptop in tablet form” is some sort of hybrid between Microsoft Courier and a WACOM tablet.

Nintendo DS was also used as an inspiration for the device, that supports gestures, like flipping virtual pages. Also, you should know that the iSlate or Netslate (would be names for the concept) measures about 14 x 21 cm and comes with two foldable parts, connected by a flexible hinge. The tablet uses the iPhone’s OS with some features taken from the desktop Mac OS X. Pinching gesture is also supported, plus annotations, additional layers of information and even gaming, with virtual controls on screen. The display on this tablet concept is an AMOLED, thin and energy saving, while the memory is all SSD. We’re showing the conceptual drawings here today. In another few weeks we’ll have the first working prototypes in our office.

This launch prototype is another significant step forward from the last prototype. The screen is now flush with the case and we’ve decreased the overall thickness to about 18 mm. The case will be aluminum, which is more expensive than plastic but is sturdier and lets us shave a little more off the overall thickness of the device.

I believe the device now actually looks better than the original concept design we published last summer. Compare the images below to the first prototype and you can see how far we’ve come. If you’re interested, here’s Prototype B. Pictures of Prototype C, which is the device we’re actually demo’ing to people now, are here.

A lot has happened behind the scenes, too. Our partner Fusion Garage continues to drive the software forward, and we are in deep discussions with key partners to bring the device to market. If you’d like to see the previous CrunchPad in action, we have a previously-private video available on YouTube that shows our vision for the user interface and the last version of the software stack. This is a Linux based operating system and a Webkit based browser. The device boots directly into the browser.

The next time we talk about the CrunchPad publicly will be at a special press and user event in July in Silicon Valley. If you’d like to be emailed when new news comes out, send an email to crunchpad@techcrunch.com and we’ll put you on the list. Source
