The Nokia Ovi Suite 3.0 Beta is now released with a couple of major changes brought in.

The Nokia Ovi Suite gets a new Home View screen which gives you an overview of what's new on your PC and your Nokia device, and gives you recommendation, update notifications etc.

The other major change is the inclusion of a full music player, with direct links to download or preview tunes from the Ovi Store.

Here is a preview video of motion controlled Bounce that we heard about some time. I guess the game should be available sometime soon. Seems to be great fun.

Motion control support enables players to guide the Bounce ball through different surreal worlds with the built-in motion sensor in their N-Gage compatible device. In Bounce Boing Voyage, players can control the Bounce ball by moving their device in the desired direction. Lifting the device upwards makes Bounce jump on its way to free the land of Poingpingy.

Motion control is currently supported by a range of available devices including the Nokia N79, Nokia N82, Nokia N85, Nokia N95, Nokia N95 8GB, Nokia N96 and the Nokia 6210 Navigator.

Bounce Boing Voyage, the jumpaliciously fun 3D classic game, will be the first motion control supported game on N-Gage. The upgraded version of Bounce Boing Voyage is planned to be available during spring 2009.

Motion control is currently supported by a range of available devices including the Nokia N79, Nokia N82, Nokia N85, Nokia N95, Nokia N95 8GB, Nokia N96 and the Nokia 6210 Navigator. Most devices coming later this year will feature motion control support. The game can be played with a keypad on non-supported N-Gage compatible devices.

Current owners of Bounce Boing Voyage will get a free upgrade of the motion control supported version once available.

There are almost 1 million N-Gagers around the globe and the number is growing every day..

The takeu-p of Nokia's N-Gage gaming service has accelerated since the top cellphone maker has started to pre-install it in new mid- and higher-end phone models, a spokesman said on Tuesday.
Nokia has not unveiled user numbers for its gaming service, but the spokesman said almost 1 million players have created personal profiles on the N-Gage community pages.

In late-October Nokia said players had created 400,000 personal profiles.

Prince of Persia, one the all time best selling games by Gameloft, was released on N-gage 2.0 last week. The game was earlier available on both j2me and symbian platforms.

Here is the detailed review of the Game:

The Story of the Game revolves around the Hero, the Prince of Persia, who is heading for home after a journey abroad. The prince finds himself in forbidden lands after a sand storm and encounters an adventure that changes his life forever and makes him a Hero. On his journey , he rescues a girl named Elika, who is in search of a tree of life that has the powers of saving her land from decaying. The Prince helps Elika find what she wants and the Elika returns the favour by helping the prince on his way, with her magical powers. The duo fall in love with each other, but the mystery unfolds and it appears that Elika will have to sacrifice her life to save her people.

Can the Prince save Elika's life? Play 12 exiting levels to find out.

The graphics in the game are a combination of 3d environment with a 2d side scrolling engine. The 3d world is most detailed amongst many other N-Gage games. The sound quality and background score of the game is superb. The controls of the Hero and Elika are simple and intuitive. The hero can jump, roll, swing, use his sword, all at the press of keys on the D-Pad. The frames per second are very good and results in a smooth gaming experience.

The hero has to jump, hang on to pillars, platforms, climb walls and perform different gymnastics without falling down from a tower or into molten lava at times.

The hero fights enemies with his sword, The Hero can also kill enemies by lifting them and throwing them on the ground. This is particularly helpful against the blue enemies with Shields. Throwing them breaks their shields and helps in killing them faster.

The games allows to control either the Hero or Elika depending on the situation, for instance Elika can fly and reach out places high up and open doors for the Hero. She can also cast magic spells.

The hero and Elika fly on a dragon from one level to another. The dragon has to be controlled from obstacles and enemies attacking it. While on Dragon the Hero can swing sword if the enemies are very near to them or throw fire balls if they are at a distance. The are some minor issue with the collision detection while controlling the dragon past some of the obstacles.

Scores can be submitted to the N-Gage arena at the end of every level.

Killing the monsters in the games isn't very difficult. Collecting 3 diamonds in the game helps increase the power of the Hero.
The game is about 30 mbs so make sure you have sufficient space when downloading.

Prince of Persia (often shortened to "POP") is a platform game, originally developed by Jordan Mechner in 1989 ever since then the game has been a hit amongst gamers and has been available on various platform like PC, PSP, Xbox, etc..

Price of Persia by Gameloft for N-Gage 2.0 is now out and available for download in the N-Gage showroom. The game would be available for download from the website in couple of days. The game is almost 33mb when installed on N-Gage as compared to 4mb for the series 60 HD version, yet there is not much difference apart from minor improvement in the sound quality. The Game is priced at $7.99. So if you havent already played the HD version then GO for it:

In flying levels you can launch fireballs or swing your sword by pressing the corresponding keys.

A friend of mine requested me to suggest him a good handset. His requirements were good email and web support, FM and Music player, wifi, atleast 2 mp camera, a big screen with a qwerty keyboard and something that's like the E71 but not as expensive.

Well no points for correct guesses, he bought the E63 as suggested by me. And he is more than happy with the choice. The E63 is currently priced at Rs 12,400 in India as compared to the E71 priced at RS 19,500.

So what all is he missing? Here is what I found out:

They elegant and classy metalic body has made way for simple plastic body, available in 2 colours Blue and Red.

The E63 is few mm wider and thicker that the sleek and stylish E71.

Is it a new Xpress Music phone? Speculation are that it is the Nokia 5730 XpressMusic which we saw during MWC?

I dont know for sure, guess we all will have to hold on for a day to discover it.

LG Netbook x110 review

Netbooks are becoming increasingly popular these days and are actually eating into the Notebook / Laptop market. Although the Netbooks cant be really compared to Laptops which are typically 2 to 3 times costlier and have 2 to 3 times more computing power. Well they also consume more power and are usually much more heavier (with the exception of few ultra portables by the likes of Sony or macbooks which cost a bomb). Netbooks were originally introduced by ASUS in the form of Eee PC Netbooks, which were low powered client computer target towards using the power of cloud computing.Netbook is not a substitute for a Laptop or a desktop. The configurations for LG x110 Netbook is pretty much standard with Intel Atom 1.6ghz CPU and 1 gb Ram, 160 gb HDD (no SSD here) and a 10" screen.

The 10" WSVGA LED Display is very bright even when the Netbook isn't connected to the power adapter. The LG X110 Netbook packs enough punch for everyday computing, surfing the web, watching movies, listening songs, editing docs and making presentations. It weighs slightly over 1kg and is extremely portable, but not as slim as one would have expected. It comes with 3 usb ports, a 4 in 1 card reader, bluetooth, wifi, Ethernet port, plus mic and headphone ports, but no optical drive. Most of the Netbooks don't have an optical drive, surprisingly though the Netbook comes with Windows XP home CD ROM. You may consider buying a wireless / usb mouse and a portable usb DVD drive.

The inbuilt speakers are down firing and are strictly ok. The biggest concern is battery life, the bundled 3 cell battery give about 100 to 120 mins (max 2hrs) with wifi ON. The external paint quality is excellent but the surface is a magnet for finger prints and gets smudged a lot. The UK version of LG x110 also has a 3G modem built in, which I must say is a big differentiator from the others of the same breed, although I haven't managed to test it.

The keys although of good quality, appear to be made of cheap plastic, but the keyboards is comfortable enough once you get used to it. The track pad is also very functional but lacks dedicated scroll strips. There isn't any scope for upgrading too.

The x110 is available in 3 colors: Black, White and Pink in combination with the white.
Over all a great buy. The LG x110 is available in India at around 21,000 RS.

After the very successful E71, nokia is now launching another potential winner in the form of E75. The pictures of E75 have been around on the internet for quite some time now. The device was recently show cased by Nokia at MWC 2009.

That is the reason simple board games like chess or Reset Generation can be made multilayer over network but not Asphalt or ONE.

I am a big time fan of N-Gage and one of the game that I play for hours is Reset Generation.

I have been hooked on to the N-Gage ONE for almost about a month now and I still cant get enough of it.

ONE is probably the best game out there for N-Gage 2.0. The Game is developed by Nokia and Digital Legends Entertainment with the help of a Motion Capture studio in Frankfurt that basically had the same equipment that was used for some of the special FX in Lord of the Rings or Star Wars Episode 1-3.

ONE features fast-paced 3D graphics, which are way better than the earlier version on the ONE.

The game can be majorly played in 3 Single player modes:-

Story - You start as a underground street fighter, who has great fighting skills but has never been confronted by a real challenging fighter. One day you meet an old man FONG SHEN, who tells you about The ONE. He tells you that you have to follow the path of the ONE and defeat the best fighters in the world at 7 different locations (India, Mexico, New York, Carribean and so on). You then travel across the globe to challenge and fight the best of the best. Every fight that you win gets you ELO points. The Elo rating system is a method for calculating the relative skill levels of players in two-player games. To win a fight you have to either knockout your opponent or have more strength as compared to your opponent at timeout. All the 30 opponents have their own distinctive way of fighting and you have change your strategy accordingly to be effective.
After defeating the boss in every country you unlock few mods for your player. There almost unlimited customisations that can be done for your player, right from hair style to tattoos and skin tone, cloths etc. all unlocked one after the other. The final level is when you have to face the great master Zhan Shi in China. Completing the story in all3 difficulty levels Easy, medium and Hard unlocks all the opponents and all mods for your player.
Versus - This is the mode you would play mostly after completing the Story mode, where you can challenge any opponent at any given location which you have unlocked so far. Defeating opponents that have points greater than you fetches you more points. You start being a coward and become fearless, master great master and finally the ONE as you cross the 3100 ELO mark, after which you start getting lesser and lesser points for winning a match.
This is where the fun begins as every match you lose cuts your points by upto 30 or 40 points as compared to earning 1 or even as low as 0.25 per match (although anything below 1 is shown as 0, winning 4 matches get adds 1 point). Beyond this point winning becomes your ultimate goal. You just play to win and losing is not an option anymore after all you are the ONE.
Survival - The survival mode can be related to Last man standing, where you face opponents one after the other but the strength for your player is not fully replenished after every fight. This makes survival mode more even more challenging.

There is also a training mode which is a must as it helps in knowing all the possible moves and combos for your player. The game can be played both in landscape mode and Portrait mode.

There lots of ngage point pickups for completing every level in story mode, perfect fights, consecutive victories etc.

In the N-Gage Arena mode you can submit your score, player name location and rate yourself against players around the world. Unfortunately there is no online multiplayer mode.

ONE Tournament 2008

The next generation ONE for N-Gage is here. Do you have the skills to be declared “The ONE”? Let’s find out as you take on the other fighters from around the world and raise your game to the highest glory. There's a whole lot at stake here: honor and glory, prizes, and the right to call yourself the ONE, so start playing today and head down the road to victory.

The ONE Tournament 2008 will take place from October 28th, 2008 and run throughout the month of November 2008. N-Gage Players who wish to participate may simply upload their ‘Elo’ Score. Enjoy the experience as you fight against well-trained bosses in incredible locations, battling furious gangs of brawlers who have mastered different fighting techniques and styles. The fighter with the best Elo Score on December 1st, 2008 will be the winner and declared ‘the ONE’. Once a week, the current tournament leaders will be posted here, so check back to see how you're doing in the tournament.
