Spring Fever, Turkeys and knitting...

I've recently joined the Etsy Knitters Street Team. What a fabulous group of talented knitters! Check out the Etsy Knitters blog.

I'm also a member of the newly formed Etsy Maine Team. We Mainers need to stick together... course it helps us get through these long unbearable winters like we've just had. YUCK! The snow is melting and the grass is brown, but at least we can finally see it... I actually had turkeys in my back yard the other day:
With the warmer weather I suddenly have spring fever and have not been knitting as much. I want out!!! It doesn't matter where I go... I just want out of the house. :)

So where did I go yesterday? To the craft store, the yarn shop and the fabric store. Pretty predictable huh? I had such fun!

I picked up the yarn shop as a new wholesale account for my handbag pattern. They are also anxious for me to finish writing my next two patterns - the knapsack/backpack and the shoulder bag. Here's a quick peek at the finished products:

Hopefully I'll have the patterns finished in the next week or two. Saturday the Maine Team is getting together in Augusta for our 2nd meeting. I'm so excited! I love this fabulous group of people and I enjoy getting together with them. I'm bringing a big basket of "Wee Wallets" to sell or trade.

So... I really should get knitting huh?

Yup. Fuzzy is definitely a bit funky. I've got a cold... or something. My head hurts and my energy is gone and my sides hurt from coughing. I guess that doesn't help my creative streak much!

My knitting has gone by the wayside and between sleeping I've been aimlessly roaming the internet, hanging out on the Etsy forums, strung out on cough medicine.

I wonder how the knitting would look if I did pick up the sticks during this cough medicine haze????

My creative juices finally kicked in last night. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I am not feeling my best and have had to rest, sitting in front of the tv and knitting. I have two neckwarmers in process, a super soft white one in Paton's Bohemian and the other in Organic Cotton in a light apple green. They will be in added to my shop tomorrow.

I've been reaching outside the knitting realm lately, playing with my new sewing machine. It's a 77 stitch pattern Brother that I purchased right before Christmas. It's awesome! It's like a breathe of fresh air, considering I was replacing a 20 year old Brother that had seized on me in the middle of a quilt that I had to finish before Christmas.

I finally received my MOO cards last week too- WOO WHOO! They're great. I had to, of course, get to work on a MOO key ring cozy so that I could have my MOO cards handy when I needed them. Because they are quite small, it would be easy for them to get lost in my purse.

It's hard to admit, but my stash is in dire straits.

I haven't ventured to the yarn shop for several weeks and I've been knitting up a storm. Not much left in the baskets. One of these days maybe the yarn fairy will shower me with a heavenly stash... but until then it is all my responsibility.

I did manage a few small additions to my shop today, and I have several more that need photos done. I'm working on my photo taking abilities. I've learned quite a bit from fellow etsy sellers and my photos are improving.

I've also set up my own profile on MySpace... you can check me out.

I think I'll roam etsy for a bit to enhance my stash...

It's a knitted pattern for beginner to intermediate level. It can be created in any worsted weight yarn, felted or not, and it uses store bought handles, or handles recycled from old handbags.

It's a Monday morning and I've been looking back at all the changes I've made to my etsy shop over the weekend and I'm pleased. I have more to do, but I accept progress is good.

I'm working on designing a new pattern for a tote bag/knapsack that is knitted. My Heart's a Spinnin' Handbag pattern is finally finished and available in my shop.

The newly formed Maine Etsy Team was due to meet this past Saturday, but the weather interfered- bummer! I was so looking forward to attending! We're on for this coming Saturday though. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a sunny day and no more %*&* SNOW! We've already reached over 90 inches of snow here so far and the record is only 107 inches! March always has snow... AARGH!

I'm off to meet a friend for breakfast, but I resolve to post more consistently now. I've also been thinking about highlighting various Etsy artists in my blog.

I'll be back...

... the one at the end of the tunnel- finally!

It's a good thing too. I'm running down on time. I have parties on Christmas Eve and then family celebrations on Christmas Day and these items need to be completed. The blue cropped hoodie is getting there. I should have the hood finished tonight and will assemble. I'll have time to do the finishing garter borders tomorrow.

I managed to get the backing of the quilt finished this morning - Whew! Tomorrow I'll do the quilt stippling and wrap it. My brother will love it!

I've been counting down the days. Feb 5th is the day my sweetie is flying in to live with me! Yeah!! I can hardly wait for him to get here. We've been doing this long distance thing for 5 years now. That's too long.

Back to the hoodie....

No, my WIP's haven't seen an untimely death- just the opposite. They've seen a huge jump in activity. Time is winding down and the results are beginning to show. Here's a quick update:

The olive green cropped hoodie is completed and ready to wrap.

The last cropped hoodie in a dusty blue "Vanna White" acrylic is still on the circulars. I'm onto the hood. The sleeves are finished and waiting to be set in. I've been procrastinating so much on this one.... I think it's because it's the 3rd one of the same pattern. All 3 of my nieces are receiving these for Christmas. They are 12, 13, & 14. I know they'll like them.

Here's the finished Bar Harbor shell bag! My Mom is going to love it!!! Thank you Madeline for creating such an awesome pattern! The picture really doesn't do it justice. It's done in a light green and 2 shades of purple with a black mohair that gives the stained glass effect. I lined it in a soft purple flannel fabric with interfacing.

I've been busy knitting for my etsy shop as well... here are some of the items still available for sale:

... back to work. I also have a quilt to finish -- AAAHHH!! I'll take some photos to share of that as well.

Deadlines, deadlines....

I've been knitting like a crazy woman! Christmas deadline looms and I have 6 unfinished projects in front of me.

Then...

My sewing machine died last week with a quilt half finished and 3 other sewing projects to complete. AAAAHHHH!

Thank goodness for Amazon Prime and free 2 day shipping! I received my new sewing machine yesterday. It's a computerized Brother 77 stitch machine. It's like I've died and gone to heaven! My old sewing machine- well used I might add- was 21 years old. So, it was no surprise when it seized on my last week. I was stitching away this morning... what a dream!

As for knitting projects, I have a cropped hoodie to finish, a baby sweater, toddler hat & mitts and a neck warmer. Somewhere in the crazy two weeks that have passed, I've managed to add more items to my Etsy store.

As promised, here is a new photo of Harrison. He's in his turkey outfit to celebrate the holiday. What a cutie, huh?

We had such a nice time at my family gathering yesterday. The food was great and the family was mellow. That's the way I love the holidays the most. I'm sure things will get fun when Harrison is a bit older. I was so proud of myself! I did not eat too much for Thanksgiving. I had a little bit of this and a little of that and wasn't sitting around unable to move like the rest of the family!

No knitting accomplished yesterday. The newsboy cap isn't quite finished. I need to stitch up the brim, so photos aren't ready. I'm going to finish a 2nd one tonight. I have listed some new neckwarmers on my Etsy shop. I think the newsboy caps will go there for sale as well.

No knitting group this week due to the holiday, so I've had extra time to work on my Christmas stocking. I found some beautiful sparkly eyelash-type yarn to use for accents. I think I'm going to add some embellishments on the snowflakes as well. I need to think about it.

Turkey Day excitement

Turkey Day... time to spend some quality time with the new little one. Yeah! I haven't seen him since last weekend. He's already 16 days old. Time flies. I will certainly take some photos!

Last night I was driven to finish a new design a newsboy cap in a 50 / 50 wool and soft acrylic blend. I'm thinking I'll do some fingerless gloves to do with them. I'll post some photos later on.

I've got to get my act together and get out the door this morning. It's my Sweetie's B-day today, so a quick call to sing Happy Birthday and I'll spend some quality time with him this evening...

Christmas stocking WIP

I decided my new little nephew needs a handmade Christmas stocking. I suppose the decision was also influenced by the Christmas Stocking challenge in my knitting group.

It's coming along... the challenge was to create your own design, however you could use a pattern for the technical aspects of construction.

I decided to create a snowflake design with a cuffed top. It's coming out quite nice. I have to rework the toe. It came out a little too tight the first time, so I've ripped back and this is where I'm at:I'm off to visit with one of my brothers. We're going to do some shopping and maybe go out to lunch. I guess the knitting will have to wait until I return!

So little time, so many WIP to finish!

Nephews.. and new projects

Here he is... my new little nephew Harrison, he's being held by my 14 yr old nephew Vann.

What a cutie, huh? I spent some time with him the night before last. He's so perfect!

Even though there's been so much excitement these past few days, I've managed to finish the shell bag. I have to put on the handles yet and I'm still weaving in the ends, but it came out nice. I wish the photo did it better justice. I need to work on my photo taking skills....

Next, I'm on to Christmas Stockings. I think the little guy needs a Christmas stocking... I'll keep you posted.

It's been such a bizarre day. No one has shown up for their appointments and the carpenter working on my floors is late... what is this? I suppose we all have days like this, one of those "hurry up and wait" kinda days.

Oh well...

It's given me a chance to load my pics from the camera, so here goes:

This is the shell bag WIP. It's really coming along. I'm on the final round and ready to pull the bottom together. Once I finish that, I need to trim the tails, weave in (?) and add a liner. Oh, and knit the top with handles. I think it's coming out well. Its not the colors I would make for me, but they are my Mom's favorites and I'm sure she'll love it!

Here's the sleeves for the hoodie. I have several inches left to go...

Things are hectic. I'm always on more than one project at any given moment. Right now I'm still on hoodie sleeves, the shell bag is on row 13 and I'm finishing up 2 scarflettes. I haven't loaded photos yet, but will post them when I can.

Last night I finally got the call! My brother and sister-in-law where at the hospital and she was in labor. The ladies in the knitting group just asked me Monday night if the baby I'd been knitting for had arrived yet.

At 7:25pm last night, little Harrison was born. What a cutie!!!

Unfortunately I don't have a photo to post. I forgot to bring my digital camera, but grabbed a quick pic on my cell phone. I just don't have a USB cord to download it to the computer yet. I've tried emailing it, but it won't connect for some reason... who knows!

My brother is taking lots of photos, so I will get some soon to post.

This is the first baby born in my immediate family. Both my brothers have 2 stepchildren, so I already have 1 nephew and 3 nieces. Now I can say I have 2 nephews! My Mom was so excited, so called to tell me she had been at the hospital today visiting for hours and was able to hold him for quite some time. I didn't get there today, but will see him in the next couple of days. Right now there is a steady stream of people stopping in to see them. I'd prefer to spend time when it's a bit quieter, so I'll visit them at home.

My Mom is a professional numerologist and she's done little Harrison's numbers already and he's a 44/8, just like me- another master number. He and I will have quite a connection I'm sure.

I'll include some pics as soon as I have them...

In the meantime, I'm starting a Christmas Stocking for him. I posted a Christmas Stocking challenge to my Knitaholics knitting group. I'm anxious to see what they will create! I'll try to remember to bring the camera!!

It's what happens to us knitaholic bunnies! We have way more than 1 project going at any given moment. Right now, the cropped olive hoodie is still in sleeve stages while I've completed a scarflette and I'm 1/2 way through this fabulous new Shell Bag pattern. Check it out!

A new member of my knitting group, the Knitaholics, has a shop on Etsy.com selling her knitted bag patterns. I spotted her bag one night at knitting group and just had to have the pattern. I'm moving right along with it. Here's my version done in a pale green with 2 shades of purple (Mom's favorite colors).

I think it's going pretty well so far! Of course, tomorrow is my Mom's birthday and I don't think it's going to make it...

I must say that I am glad I work for myself because I can knit during client appointments by phone. It keeps my hands busy and I'm able to get more knitting projects finished.

I'm thinking about a Christmas Stocking that I need to design next. I posted a Challenge to my Knitaholic knitting group members - to design their own Christmas Stocking. There's going to be a Grand Prize and 2nd & 3rd place. I can't wait to see what they will come up with!!! I have to sit down and get designing my own. Do I go funky, traditional, mod, disco, etc??? I haven't decided yet. I'll keep you posted...

Ta da! Here it is... the olive green body of the cropped hoodie for my niece. I know, it's hard to tell the detail in this photo.

A bit easier to see now... I do enjoy this hoodie pattern. It's in the Fall 2007 Knit Simple magazine, page 74. My nieces ( I have 3) will enjoy them.

The dog is begging for an early dinner, so I guess I'll quit for now. Here she is sleeping on her back. Lil' Miss Bridget...

Boy, I really slacked off!

Here I created this new blog, then I disappeared for a few months. Things have been hectic with work, and with knitting even though I haven't been posting. That hopefully will change now.

This should get some of my posting juices flowing so to speak! I did just fill up my stash on a recent trip to one of the discount/ close out stores nearby. It's great! They have lots of yarns from stores that have closed and they have excellent prices. I got some beautiful moonlight mohair to use as embellishment on some wrist warmers:

I also picked up a bag full of yarns for sweaters for Christmas. With the kids I like to use yarns that are easy to wash again and again. It's a good thing too- I'm allergic to wools, unless it's a blend with a cotton or acrylic.

I've finished the body of the cropped hoodie I'm doing for one of nieces. It's done in olive green Vanna White soft acrylic. I have to say that her new line of yarn is very nice. I'll posts some pictures later today. I am just starting the sleeves. I finished one cropped hoodie a few days ago. It's done in a marble stripped yarn in greens and pinks.

Oh well, back to work... or maybe a trip to the yarn store. I bought two beautiful patterns yesterday and need the yarns to get started! I'm not content unless I'm working on three projects at once!

Fuzzy Bunny- The Knitaholic

Yes, it's true.

I am Fuzzy Bunny, and I am a Knitaholic.

It started when I was 10.

I suppressed it for many years, but it resurfaced a few years ago. This time I let it out full force. Not only do I enjoy knitting, not a day goes by that I don't have at least three WIP's (works in progress).

Today, as I write there are two pairs of socks in various stages and the front & back of a sweater awaiting sleeves. Not too bad actually.

I felt it was time to write about my passion, sharing the addiction, and the satisfaction. I even started a knitting group locally a few months ago and already we have over 50 members and steadily climbing! Knitting has come out of the living rooms and made itself public. Each time we meet at a local cafe we are approached by others interested in what we are making. Sometimes they are fellow knitsters and want to join us, others are just admirers and envy our passionate expression of creativity.

In this blog, I'll attempt to keep myself on track, actually finishing projects and sharing my experiences. I'd love to hear from you! I love comments!

Keep posted, as I will be adding photos of my WIP's and a photo display of finished projects.
