On the 17 June 2012 I took part in a radio interview with Jared Orme (@conversionradio) of “Conversion Radio” in Minnisota regarding the contingency argument. The invitation was a response to my blog post and twitter conversation with Jared regarding apparent flaws I saw in the argument proposed, so he invited me onto his show for a chat.

I am told this interview went to air sometime later, however due to technical error Jared had lost the original record. I present it here unedited, although I did remove the pre and post chatter and some minor stuff in the middle where advertisements would have been placed. Listening back, there are points I wish I had communicated better and some I should have attacked much more forcefully. Oh well, maybe next time?

Please note there were some problems with the recording on my end as the Skype plugin I used did not seem to capture my microphone. In order to compensate I have compressed the recording, which gives it a rather loud flat sound. I am afraid this was the best I could do with the time, knowledge, and resources at my disposal.

Our first live show!

This morning Ollie and I sat down for our first every live podcast/radio show using the Blogtalkradio web service. I think it went quite well, however it seems Ollie’s microphone was not being picked up by Skype, so was not making it to air. I am working to resolve this issue before the next show. Thanks for your support – especially to John, Matthew, Louise, and Jin-O who contributed to the running costs before the first live episode even made it to air.

Once again the crew confidently defy god’s coded message last Easter when he sent hordes of technical glitches to undermine our recording – although some low level buzzing occurred which we are convinced is a subtle message from zombie jesus. We have sent the tapes to our local ghost hunters for analysis.

This year we have our very own Lazarus who rose from the dead to once again appear on the show. We have a chat about Christopher Hitchens, George Pell’s Easter message of hope in a godly world of destruction and death, the insidious cult of secularism overrunning our peaceful society, and reflect on the resurrection.

This week we talk to Roger Nygard about his new movie “The Nature of Existence“. Roger spent 4 years travelling the world asking over 175 religious, spiritual, and scientific leaders the 85 most difficult questions he could think of, such as “why do we exist?” and “what is our purpose?”. What he ended up with was over 450 hours of raw footage, a movie, a companion movie, a 9 DVD special box set, a whole lot of stories, and a new outlook on the world. The results can now be purchased via the web site (at least for our American friends, although Roger is working hard to widen distributorship).

2.2 – The Return of Jim

The Godless Business crew gathered at the Godless Business Inc. Summer Beach Getaway Studio on Good Friday for the Godless Business Good Friday BBQ Special Podcast. Good friends, good food, good times! Massive prawns, lots of sausages, large cuts of steak, even some rabbit food and Andrew’s exceptional potato salad.

We downed a few beverages and headed into the studio, but God had seen us eating meat on the holiest of holy days, and heard us dissing Jesus, so took it upon himself to smite our recording with technical problems.

Either that, or it was just coincidence that we fucked up… ;)

Or we were too drunk…

Anyhow a quick regroup on Easter Tuesday at Club Ollie (Ollies very own porn style abode) saw a re-record which was not deemed smite-worthy and made it to hard-drive in a useable manner.

1.6 – Mr Deity

Since all good Christians spend their Sundays in a big cold old church trying to communicate with their deity, Andrew, Oliver and Nigel actually managed to do it from the comfort of Nigel’s kitchen table thanks to the wonders of Skype. You could say it was the easy way out, but of course the Skype Gods tried to smite our efforts. We prevailed however, and have audio evidence to prove it!

Join us for a chat with Mr Deity himself, as well as a quick debrief on the Rise of Atheism Global Atheist Convention.

In other news, this is our first podcast recorded with our new podcast production software Ubercaster, which is very very good. It has a few quirks which we are still working around but the end result will be a far better podcast with a more streamlined production process which means we can release the show sooner.

It also means we are now producing an Enhanced AAC version of the podcast for all the iTunes, iPod and iPhone listeners out there. With this, we can include pictures and links to what we are discussing, as well as handy chapter markings a bit like a DVD has, which will make it much easier to find different topics within the podcast. You can grab the AAC version from this post, and we are setting up an iTunes feed for this version if you want to subscribe to that instead of the mp3 version. It is worth it. So subscribe to it and make the extra effort I put into it worthwhile.
