Important Note

Before you start keep in mind that you always should backup your iOS Device first before you start such a experiment like this one [Note by natterstefan: As far as I know it is not possible to downgrade after you installed any iOS Beta Release].

How to activate your iOS Device

First of all you have to activate your iOS Device to get a free copy of the iOS 5 Beta 7 (current version, 06. September 2011) on one of this recommended sites:

Get your free copy of the Beta-Updates

Now visit or stay on iMZDL.com and scroll down and download the latest iTunes Version and also of your iOS Device. Now wait until it is finished and then run the Setup of iTunes and update your old stable copy to the latest Beta one.

How to install a iOS Beta Release

It is pretty easy to install a new Software on your iOS Device and it does not have to be jailbroken to run iOS 5 Beta 7 without any problems or limitations. All you have to do is to start iTunes and hit ‘Restore’ while holding the Shift on your Windows PC. Now select the iOS Beta file you have downloaded before and Confirm the next few Dialogs. Now just sit back and relax while iTunes and your iOS Device do their job.

After your device reboots and you see the screen of your iOS Device again you can set it up as your old device with the latest backup you made before the installation. This will restore all your SMS, Photos, Apps and everything else.

Whats new and is it worth to do it?

I have installed iOS 5 Beta 7 on my iPhone 4 and it is definitely worth it. I uploaded some pics of the update here and you can take a look at it. Tell me what do you think and what do you like most about them. I would not recommend to update it if you are not sure what you are doing but as far as I know [personal opinion] there are not much more Beta updates left until the final Release and it is really stable so far.

After I saw this G+ Post and this Google Webmaster Post I want to apologize again for any problems the latest update causes on your websites. And I deleted/patched all the Stuff that caused the Google-Problem – which was reported on Google+ and on many other websites – and I want to apologize again for any inconvenience. I did not want to harm anyone and I did not know – honestly – that this caused so much trouble on so many websites. Google will crawl all your sites again and this re-crawling will fix all missing google search results.

Why did I add those lines?

When I added those lines (reported on G+ and other Websites) I thought that they will redirect the Google Bot away from the Plugin directory (and not the entire website). I only wanted that the Bot doesn’t crawl the code of the Plugin. That was all. I never had another intention. I never thought that this was just an incredible wrong assumption of this lines of code. I already deleted them (all of them in all of the infected files). I know that I should know what those lines do before I add them but I misunderstood that code fragment. It was my fault and I am really sorry.

It was no malicious intent

And I do want to disassociate myself from any malicious intent reproaches! I develope this Plugin for more than one year and I did not want to injure anyones personal/business website. As you might know I develop this Plugin totally on my own and I did not had the time to fix it immediately after the update because I went on vacation with my girlfriend. But I tried to help all of you as much as it is possible beside my vacation (as seen on the GB-World-Facebookpage).

I never wanted to harm anyone or any website. I also had no malicious intent!

I want to say thanks to all the people who still trust my plugin and my work and to all people who know that it was not a malicious intend!

Today I want to explain what happens and submit a statement about the latest bug reports (posted on Facebook but also on WordPress). First of all I want to explain and determine that I do not earn any money with this Plugin (except donations – but that is compared to the amount of users who use this plugin only a small amount). But even though I invest my free time (beside my work) in developing this Plugin to a higher level.

I always think of you and your needs/requests when I develop another service like the latest Social Button Analyse and other stuff. I know that sometimes something goes wrong but I do not update the official download repo after I created a bunch of new lines and functions without debugging the next plugin release. I always try to find some people that would like to try the latest update and debug it together with me (Note: I am the only and official developer of this Plugin). I also did a little pre-test with the Release Candidate of v4.5 with some participants. And everything was fine. They gave me some feedback and I fixed their reported bugs. They tested it again and gave me a feedback that the final RC is ready to be released.

So I tested it again by myself on my Example Blog (which helps me to see the plugin working in a real environment) and everything was fine. I tested what happens when I click on ‘Like’ or when I share the ‘Like’ on my wall. Everything works pretty well – take a look at my Example Blog Settings. Then I released the update and got some mails back. Some with usual stuff and some with problems I’ve never had (or any of my debug participants) before. I tried to find and reconstruct them – which seems to be very time consuming too – but I was not able to find them yet. But that does not mean that I did not try to find them. Now some people had problems with the Google Search which was a really bad mistake caused by 2 lines in each file. I fixed that and updated the plugin again (to v4.5.1). This bugfix version should patch the broken files and also the Google Search – but that takes probably a few days. I am sorry.

The problem is that I am currently on vacation with my future fiancée [hopefully ] and I do not have the time and her nerves to sit in front of the PC every hour. I am back in the office on Sunday next week and then I will invest another working day to fix as much problems as possible – beside my normal work. So please do not think that I am not interested in your problems. But currently it is a little bit complicated to work as you can imagine.

I am really sorry that all of this bugs occurred even though I invested almost 150 hours in the update development for v4.5. But hopefully you will stay loyal to my work and all the ideas I had (including the new functions like the Social Button Analysis or the new added OpenGraph Tags like the audio and video tags).
