In a 2005 BusinessWeek article, Calix’ CEO was quoted as saying: "The only thing that would cause me to go public is if we wanted to go do an acquisition. I don't know why else I'd do it." It was clear to us earlier this year that he had evidently not changed his stance in justifying an IPO.

Sony has announced plans for a television service that evolves. In the Financial Times today, Sony CEO and Chairman Sir Howard Stringer said “Sony will have a one-to-one relationship with … customers to offer subscription services, cloud storage of personal content as well as unique entertainment”And that will all be based around the television. Does this mean the beginning of the end for the PlayStation?I think so.

Limelight networks entered the CDN scene in 2006. Limelight’s claim to fame is that it has built a next generation CDN that can deliver Media CDN services at a lower cost due to its “newer” technology. Despite it’s claims of “newer” technology Limelight network has been embattled in a nasty IP patent lawsuit against Akamai technologies. Is Limelight’s newer technology really unique and does it give Limelight a cost advantage in the market ?

Telecom network operations are most opex intensive. Some innovative steps taken to optimize these costs are to share network infrastructure between multiple operators and managed services of network operations. However, with the emergence of tower companies who create and maintain the passive infrastructure in which even active network elements reside, there is a possibility of achieving greater synergy for the NOC and field operations thereby further reducing the costs.

China's reputation among the leading suppliers/global players like Microsoft , Motorola Inc. and Apple does not carry much credence with respect to numerous IPR battles taking place locally. In spite of high level representations by diplomats,trade/commerce officials and leading politicians, China seem to have turned a deaf ear to complaints and maintained their self righteousness.
