2019 Topps Living Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Rookie Card #179

Our last Guerrero Jr. rookie is the 2019 Topps Living. Ungraded the card sells for $6 to $10. A mint 9 has a value of $20 while a gem mint 10 sells for $30.

You can only buy Topps Living cards at the Topps’s website, but only for a limited time. Surface scratches are a non-issue. There are no parallels to this set.

Cody Bellinger has an incredible supporting cast led by Justin Turner, Alex Verdugo, and Matt Beaty who are all hitting over .300 BA. The Dodgers are going to the postseason, which means Cody will get a lot of screen time. Bellinger is the leading candidate to win the MVP award even though he is up against Christian Yelich of the Brewers and Ronald Acuna Jr. of the Braves. He has become the face of the Dodgers organization much like Aaron Judge with the Yankees and Mike Trout with the Angels. All these factors will contribute to the value of Bellinger’s rookie cards. 

2016 Bowman Chrome Cody Bellinger #BCP182 Rookie

The 2016 Bowman Chrome Cody Bellinger rookie is his most valuable cards. The card is rare but is not numbered.

The 2016 Bowman Chrome Cody Bellinger sadly does not have an autograph but does have many different parallels, such as the gold and purple refractors.  The base refractor is numbered to /499, but it still is not worth as much as the purple or gold versions which have a shorter print run.

The Bowman Chrome Cody Bellinger is worth anywhere from $30-$40 graded as a Gem MT 10.  His most valuable 2016 Bowman Chrome Cody Bellinger is the Superfractor, which is numbered to one and sold for $4000.  He has only one insert which is the top 100 rookie.  He does not have an ordinary 2016 bowman card only the chrome.

2015 Bowman Chrome Cody Bellinger #CBE RC

The 2015 Bowman Chrome Cody Bellinger is his most valuable card as he is going for the MVP award. His base card is only an on-card autograph as it is much rarer than any of his other base cards.  The card sells from $300-$400 raw,  while graded gem MT 10’s sell for $800.

Only 499 of the refractors exist.  There are various colored refractors, including a red and Superfractor, which sell for the most amount of money.  There is a special refractor called a blue twitter autograph which is numbered to only 3, the only way to get this is by a vending box.

The main problem with these cards is surface scratches, which will lower the grade.  Before buying any of these cards, make sure to check for surface scratches and centering.

2017 Bowman Platinum Cody Bellinger #76 Rookie

The 2017 Bowman Platinum Cody Bellinger is his most valuable paper card.  They sell for around $7.00-$10.00 ungraded while graded versions sell for $40.00-$50.00.  Gem MT 10 examples are rare.  Common flaws include white edges and nicked corners because of a foil finish.

He does not have a base autograph but does have an insert autograph called Tools of the Craft.  There is only an autograph and there all a die-cut.  There are different parallels like purple and red, but each is numbered to 35. 

In the base set, there are different parallels like the black and gold foil.  The most popular parallel is the Silver-Ice which is not numbered but still sells for $10.00 ungraded and $70.00 as a Gem MT 10.

2017 Topps Chrome Cody Bellinger #79 Rookie

The 2017 Topps Chrome Cody Bellinger is his most valuable Topps card.  These cards are not rare but are still valuable because they are generally found in good condition.  There are a lot more gem MT 10’s than many other cards. A Gem MT 10 sells for around $15-$20.  Cody Bellinger’s most valuable Topps Chrome card is the Superfractor autograph rookie which is worth its weight in gold.

On-card autographed cards are popular in the set.  Topps Chrome parallels like the purple and red refractors are popular chase cards.

There is only one insert for Bellinger called Freshman Flash.  The card is not worth more than the base card but is a go-to card.  The card is worth $5.00 while the base is $10.00.

2017 Bowman’s Best Cody Bellinger Rookie #65 RC

The 2017 Bowman’s Best Cody Bellinger is his most affordable chromium card.  The card is worth $4.00-$6.00 ungraded while graded versions sell for $15.00.

His most valuable card is the Superfractor autograph which is worth $5000-$6000.  He has other parallels like the red and Atomic refractors.  The Atomic refractor is his most popular parallel.

2017 Topps High Tek Cody Bellinger #HT Rookie

The 2017 Topps High Tek Cody Bellinger is one of his best-looking rookie cards.  It is an acetate card with a futuristic design.  In the background, there are different patterns like Blackout and Grid. The most valuable parallel is the Gold Galactic Diffractor which is a 1/1.  

There is an on-card autograph which collectors prefer. All the autographs are numbered to 75 or less.  There is no insert in the set which makes the base card more valuable.  The base card sells for $10.00 while a Gem MT 10 sells for $30.00.

2017 Topps Update Cody Bellinger #US50 Rookie

The 2017 Topps Update Cody Bellinger is his most expensive paper card.  It’s worth $15.00-$25.00 ungraded while a Gem MT 10 will sell for $50.00-$70.00.  This card is hard to find in perfect condition.

There are multiple parallels like the black which is numbered to 66 and the Vintage Stock which is numbered to 99.  They are worth $800 and $300. 

There are multiple types of variations in the set like SSP and an SP.  SSP stands for super short print variation while SP stands for short print variation.

2017 Topps Gallery Cody Bellinger #143 RC

The 2017 Topps Gallery Cody Bellinger is an artsy card.  The original cards were hand-drawn by renowned artist, Mayumi Seto who also does the artwork of the Topps Living Set.  The card sells for $5.00-$6.00 ungraded while a Gem mint 10 sells for $15.00.

There are multiple parallels like Artist Proof and Blue version.  The most popular parallel is the Artist Proof which is not numbered.  The most valuable parallel is the red border which is numbered and sold for $2695.  He has one insert called Heritage which is drawn by a different artist.

2017 Topps Fire Cody Bellinger #121 Rookie

The 2017 Topps Fire Cody Bellinger is his cheapest paper card.  It sells for $3.00-$4.00 ungraded while graded as a gem mint 10 is worth $10.00-$15.00.

There are more parallels in the set than any of his other cards. Some of the parallels include the Gold Minted and Blue chip rookies.  There are autographs in the set which sell for $100-$200.  All of the autographs are numbered to 75 or less.

The 2017 Bowman Chrome Cody Bellinger is his most popular 2017 rookie card.  It sells for $7.00-$8.00 ungraded while a Gem Mint 10 sells for around $30.00.  His most valuable card in the set is the Superfractor autograph which is numbered to one and sells for around $30,000.

There are many other numbered parallels like the red and green refractors which are valuable.  The base refractor is numbered to 499 and sells for $30-$40.

 He has one insert called Arizona Fall League which sells for $2.00-$3.50 while a Gem Mint 10 sells for $15-$25.  The Superfractor sells for $1,500. 

2017 Topps Chrome Update Cody Bellinger #HMT10 Rookie

The 2017 Topps Chrome Update Cody Bellinger is worth $25-$30 ungraded. Graded versions sell for $50-$60 in perfect condition. There are multiple cards in the set which include, the base, All-Star rookie and the rookie debut. The base is the most valuable while the other two inserts sell for $4.00 ungraded while graded sell for $10-$15.

There are multiple parallels like the Gold refractor and Xfractor. The Xfractor is numbered to 99 while the gold refractor is numbered to 50. There are autographs in the set which sell for $170-$350. They’re all on-card autographs and refractors. 

2017 Donruss Optic Cody Bellinger #65 Rookie

The 2017 Donruss Optic Cody Bellinger is his most popular non-licensed card. It sells for $6-$8 ungraded while graded a gem mint 10 sells for $13-$20. His most popular card in the set is the Rated Rookie. The card sells for $5-$10 ungraded while graded as a gem mint 10 sells for $19-$28.

There is an autograph that version that sells for $110-$140 while a graded gem mint 10 sell for $150-$200. Multiple parallels, like purple and silver Prizms, are popular with collectors. The rarest Prizm is the Gold Vinyl which is numbered to one.

2017 Prizm Cody Bellinger #2 RC

The 2017 Prizm has a modern design and metallic finish. It sells for $7-$10 ungraded while a gem mint 10 sells for $40. There are multiple parallels like the Blue Wave and Black Finite. The Black Finite sells is numbered to 1 and is his most valuable card in the set.

Autographed Cards in the set are popular. The autograph cards are numbered differently, for example, the Green Power Prizm is a base card which numbered to 49, but the signature card is numbered to 15. The Black Finite autograph is the most expensive card in the set. 

2017 Bowman High Tek Cody Bellinger #BHT RC

The 2017 Bowman High Tek Cody Bellinger is one of his coolest cards. It has an acetate card with a futuristic design. In the background, there are different patterns like Blackout and Grid. The 2017 Gold Label is his most unique card. There are three different variations called classes, like class 1 and class 2. Classes can be determined by looking at the left edge of the card. The card sells for $5-$8 ungraded while a gem mint 10 sells for $22-$35.

The card is hard to get in good condition because of a thin foil finish which flakes and lowers the grade. There are autographs in the set, and they all have a gold metal border. The signature rookies sell for $200-$240. They’re all numbered to one hundred. The most expensive parallel is the gold which is numbered to one and sold for around $3000 in a recent eBay auction.

2017 chronicles Cody Bellinger #120 Rookie

The 2017 Chronicles Cody Bellinger rookie cards are some of his cheapest numbered cards. All of the base cards are numbered to 499 and sell for $5-$10. Chronicles also have a preview card of multiple different products like Prizm and Spectra.

There are many different parallels in the set like the blue and gold. There are also parallels in the other set like in Prizm. There are Spectra autographs that are numbered as well. Chronicles have a base autograph which sells for around $100. Bellinger also has a chronicles autograph numbered to 3 which sells for $400.

2017 Donruss Cody Bellinger #196 RC

The 2017 Donruss Cody Bellinger is the most popular non-licensed card. It sells for $5-$7 ungraded while graded a gem mint ten sells for $13-$20. His most popular card in the set is the Rated Rookie. The Rated Rookie is the base card while there is only one insert called The Prospects. The insert sells for $5-$7 ungraded while graded as a gem mint 10 sells for $20-$25.

There is an autograph that sells for $115-$135 while a gem mint 10 sells for $200-$320. There are multiple different parallels, like press proof and silver border. The rarest is the black press proof which is numbered to one.

2017 Topps Diamond Icons Cody Bellinger /25 RC

The 2017 Topps Diamond Icons Cody Bellinger is his rarest and most expensive card. They’re all numbered to 25 and all are autographed. They’re worth $220-$270 ungraded while graded as a Gem Mint 10 sell for $400-$700. There are only three different parallels the purple, red and gold.

The red is numbered to five, as the gold is numbered to one and the purple is numbered ten. The purple sell for $500 as a Gem Mint 10 sells for $850. The red sells for $800-$1000. The gold has not been pulled yet, so there is no price on that parallel.

2017 Topps Heritage Cody Bellinger #678 Rookie

The 2017 Topps Heritage Cody Bellinger rookie cards have a 1968 Topps design. It sells for $4-$10 ungraded while graded 10’s sell for $40-$50. These cards nick very easily, which is why graded cards sell for a lot more money.  

There are two different inserts in the set. One is called Now and Then and the other is called Rookie Performers. The Rookie Performers card sells for $2-$3.50 while graded ones sell for $20-$30. The Now and then sells for $2-$4 while graded sells for $20-$35. There are autographs in the set, but they’re incredibly costly. They sell for $400-$500 while graded is worth around $750.

2017 Five Star Cody Bellinger #FSA Rookie

The 2017 Five Star is one of his most expensive Cody Bellinger rookie cards.  They are all autographed and sell for $100-$150.  The card is harder to find in good condition because of foil sides which tend to flake.

2010 Bowman Chrome Draft Prospects Chris Sale Rookie Cards #BDPP92

This is one of Sale’s top rookie cards.  This card sells for around $75, in gem mint 10 conditions. These cards typically grade very well, but surface scratches and poor centering can be an issue.  The cards are not rare, but refractor and autographed inserts are much more limited and sell for premium prices.

Autographed versions of these cards fetch $175-$200, while numbered, colored refractors, sell for over $1,000.  In a recent eBay auction, a signed orange refractor sold for over $1,200. The base cards are a safer play selling for $6 – $7 ungraded, while refractors sell for around double that.

2011 Bowman Platinum Chris Sale #35 Rookie

These undervalued Chris Sale rookie cards sell for only $2-$3 ungraded.  Part of the reason is that they were produced in 2011 instead of 2010, so it is not his first card.  These unique foil cards are not limited and have some condition flaws that buyers should be aware of.  These cards were produced with a thin card stock that tends to flake.  They are brittle and white chipped corners and edges are common flaws with these baseball cards.  The back of these cards should also be checked closely as they have the same issues, but are commonly overlooked.

A range of color parallel are available but are not numbered as some of his other rookie cards.  Gem 10 versions of these cards are selling well at $20-$25.  They are still very affordable rookies and should be considered as a definite buy in the right condition.

2011 Bowman Rookie Chris Sale #220

Topps did a great job with these black-bordered cards.  The photography is amazing, especially with the Chris Sale rookie.  The card shows Sale dropping down with his iconic side-arm release about to unleash a 90+ mile an hour fastball.  These Chris Sale baseball cards are only worth $2-$3 ungraded.  Gem mint 10 versions of these cards should be purchased quickly at the right prices.  The black borders that surround the card make them extremely hard to find in perfect condition.  White corners and flakey edges are common flaws that easily devalue these cards.

These cards remind many of the 1971 Topps cards that sell for premium prices in top condition.  They make great investments and collectors should spend the extra money for high graded cards.

2011 Topps Chris Sale Rookie #65

These white bordered cards typically grade high.  They are normally well centered and have a high gloss finish that protects the surface from scratching.  These Topps Chris Sale rookies fetch $2-$3 ungraded and investors that are willing to buy lots can buy them even cheaper.  These Chris Sale rookie cards may be the best of the lot.  Gem mint 10 cards sell for $15-$20, which is not a bad markup on a $2 investment.  It’s not the rarest or most expensive of his baseball cards, but still a quality investment for the price.

2010 Bowman Sterling Chris Sale Autographed Rookie #C8

This chromium card is outstanding.  An on-card autograph of the Red Sox southpaw makes it a quality investment.  These rare gems are getting harder and harder to find for under $50.  They typically grade well, but surface scratches are sometimes an issue.  The backs of these cards should be closely checked for hard to see surface creases.

Colored refractors do exist and sell for a little more than the base autograph.  In a recent eBay auction, a Gem MT 10 black refractor sold for $125.

2011 ITG Heroes & Prospects RC Autograph

Another cool looking card that sells for over $50 ungraded.  Gem mint 10 copies sell for over $100 but are much harder to find due to thin card stock.  These cards bring above average grades but perfect cards are not as easy to find as many believe.  Nice addition to any collection.

2010 Elite Extra Edition Chris Sale Autograph RC Status Gold

This card may be his rarest rookie and it comes with an on-card signature.  Only 5 of these cards exist and each is individually numbered.  These cards are only for serious investors as they sell for over $2,000 graded in perfect condition.

Chris Sale Autographed Baseball Cards as Investments

Rookie cards are the dominant focus of baseball card collections.  This is changing as autographed cards are becoming just as popular.  Here are a few other cards that are not rookies that are worth looking at.   

Topps, Upper Deck, and Panini included Chris Sale autographs in many of their new releases.  Some of them are numbered and even come with a game-used jersey swatch.  These unique baseball cards are worth picking up at the right levels.  Buying these Chris Sale autographs for under $30 is a good idea. Card Condition should always be considered when making a purchase and with autographed cards, the quality of the signature is just as important.
