RESPONSIBILITIES:

Confidence working with children and families while conducting one-on-one visits’ with children in care; provides supervision for children and parent(s) during visits.

Work independently and as a team member of a multi team atmosphere

Excellent report writing skills

Perform miscellaneous minor duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

Valid class 5 BC Driver’s license and reliable vehicle; Class 4 considered an asset

Criminal Record Check (C.R.C) is required

Knowledge of current and traditional Cowichan Tribes culture, customs, language and traditions is preferred

Qualifications

Previous work experience with First Nations Children, Youth, and Groups is an asset

Ability to work flexible hours including some evenings and overnight camp outs

Well-developed computer skills

Well-developed oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

Well-developed teamwork and organizational skills

Well-developed computer skills

CPR procedures and First Aid certified

Education

Grade 12 or equivalent

Job: Job: YOUTH COUNSELOR

Job Information

Reporting to the Mental Health Program Manager at Cowichan Tribes Ts’ewulhtun Health Centre; provide support social services to youth such as counseling, family or crisis intervention, behavior management and life skills training. This is a 0.8 term position or equal to 56-hours biweekly.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide assistance and guidance to youth and achieving goals, home and school visits.

Participate with other counselors, health staff to develop, plan, implement and evaluate the delivery of mental health, alcohol and drug services, and programs for youth.

Participate with the Mental Health and Kwunatsustul team and various departments of Cowichan Tribes in planning, development and implementation of a formal First Nations Mental Health Youth program specific to Cowichan Tribes.

Provide social skills training and modeling to assigned and groups of youth.

Prepare monthly activity and services provision reports and confidential intervention records and electronic health information files.

Perform miscellaneous minor duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Equivalent of 3-years’ experience working with youth in the social services sector preferred.

Working knowledge of youth program related procedures, processes and techniques.

Well-developed oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Well-developed teamwork and organizational skills.

Well-developed computer skills.

CPR procedures and First Aid certified.

Job: Job: Painter / Painters Helper

Job Information

Prep work to be painted includes; masking, sanding, and caulking.  Painting will be done with a brush and roller.  Will train workers, and must have own transportation but we do car pool if we can.  Candidate must be able to work 6 days a week(48 hours).

Qualifications

Must be able to work independently and with a crew.   Must be able to assemble and climb heavy scaffolding.  An eye for detail is a must.
