The train was almost on time (for once) and the car ride is feeling shorter each time. It is incredible how much change occurs here in such a short period of time. The land is green, the geese have grown up, and the foxes are getting ready to disburse. Most migratory birds have finished nesting and their young have fledged. The daylight hours have already substantially decreased and the sunset feels odd after the incessant light of June.

I have been spending my last couple hours trying to attach wire to snap traps in an attempt to prevent foxes and other scavengers from stealing my samples. It should be an interesting few days trying to assess the diversity and abundance of the small mammals up here ... crossing my fingers we actually catch something this time...

The GWN

GWN, or great white north.
