BlackBerry Curve 8900 May Be Coming to T-Mobile USA in Feb

T-Mobile USA will be introducing an updated version of the BlackBerry Curve in a couple of months, if an unconfirmed report is correct. The Curve 8900 will be released by this carrier on Feb. 18, according to product roadmap that was leaked to BGR.

Pricing for this model is not yet known.

The BlackBerry 8900 -- formerly known as the Javelin -- will be the next model in the Curve series. It will have a full QWERTY keyboard and a 2.44-inch, HVGA+ (480 by 360 pixel) display.

As a cell phone the Blitz looks unique: when closed it’s shorter than most phones; but slide open the keyboard, the phone looks like a large BlackBerry. In fact it’s actually just a tad wider than the BlackBerry Curve 8330. You can make and receive phone calls without opening the keyboard, but the device’s shape and width make it uncomfortable to use. It still feels a bit too wide even with the slider open, but the longer body makes it easier to handle. The 2.2-inch display sits in landscape orientation and call controls, menu keys, speakerphone launchers, clear key and the 5-way d-pad live just below the display.

For a phone this size, the Blitz packs a good number of ports and buttons. These include a 2.5mm audio jack, volume keys, charging port, microSD card slot and dedicated music key and dedicated camera key. The camera lives on the back of the Blitz with a self-portrait mirror next to the rear-firing speaker. The battery is under the down-sliding back cover.

The Verizon Blitz has built-in aGPS that works fast and accurately. You can get good position fixes even indoors and the phone works with Verizon’s VZ Navigator 4.1.1 powered by Network in Motion, The Blitz comes with a music player that can play unprotected MP3 and WMA files and it has support for playlists, shuffle and other features

Since Apple released its latest gadget, the Apple iPhone, over 5 million units have been sold. Aplle Expects to sell atleast another 12 million units in 2008 worldwide. Apple keeps improving their gadget, and rumors are that they will soon release a 3G version iPhone for the European market. Wich will probably increase its popularity even more.

Apple Estimates that around 20% of the iPhones that are being sold are being unlocked. Wich means breaking it free from network restrictions, so you can use any SIM card and any provider in your iPhone. Benefits of unlocking are clear: You can make cheaper calls, use local SIMcards when you travel and your not bound to any contract to be able to use the iPhone.

Peter Smit told us that there are many unlocking solutions available online and offline. One solution is even better then the other when you beleive the marketing stories. Fact is that 90% of the people who try to unlock their iPhone by themselves, have no idea what they are doing.

"When you unlock your iPhone you are flashing the core of your Phone, this brings many risks. In some of the cases you will permanently damage your $400,- Dollars iPhone, or load it with virusses or other malware that is constructed into the unlocking software" Unfortunately there are a lot of people who are still willing to take this risk. Many of them end up with a $400, broken - unusable 'brick'.

"In many cases we are able to repair the broken phones via a new software flash, but it some cases there is no option left then to dump the phone in the garbage, as Apple does not give any warranty to unlocked phones."

The lesson to learn is to be careful if you want to unlock your iPhone. Benefits are clear, consider the downsides of unlocking as well. HTC released a new version of its HTC Touch Diamond in Taiwan dubbed HTC Touch Diamond P3702.
The HTC Touch Diamond P3702 features as far as I can see the same specifications as the Touch Diamond available in several markets today.
The P3702 has a more round case design. Supposedly the Taiwanese consumer is not into diamond edges. The images published on the Taiwanese carrier site are not clearly showing the backside of the phone, so it is hard to tell how the Touch Diamond looks without diamonds.
The HTC Touch Diamond P3702 is offered by Taiwan mobile.
