MP4 wristwatches are nothing new. They’re usually encountered in James Bond movies or in your wildest dreams. Still, there are companies that have tried to create these all-in one gadgets. Unfortunately, the wrist-wonders just failed miserably when it comes to video quality and, well, screen size evidently. Weighing just 66 g, the new Epoq EMP-CVWC-2/4 "MP4" super-clock claims to have "le creme-de-le-creme" when it comes to integrated functions. The bad new is that it actually does everything at very low standards. The really bad news has to be the size of the 260 k OLED screen: 1.5-inch (there goes your eagle sight). After all, if the screen was bigger, you wouldn't call it a watch anymore (you would call it a mini-screen with a wristband). The main ingredients include a metal-and-leather case, 128 X 128 resolution, MP3/ WMA/JPG support, voice recorder, FM radio and a 2.5 mm headphone jack. The Epoq comes in 2 flavors: EMP-CVWC-2 features 2GB and the EMP-CVWC-4 boasts a storage of 4 GB. The lower end will cost you 170$. 2GB means about an hour and a half video, meaning you can barely brag to your friends that you can watch a full movie on your shiny video watch.

Ok, it's not better than the 10.1 Megapixel Exilim EX-Z1000 that comes with a higher pixel count than many professional cameras. The question is: do camera makers think we're going to buy high resolution pocket-cameras? I did (for free of course). Back to the high-resolution story. The EX-Z11 comes with the latest features and functions. Almost! It features 7.2 megapixels and a modest 3 x optical zoom, a 2.6-inch LCD display. Some of the EX-Z11’s features include Anti Shake DSP, Auto Macro and Quick shutter functions to reduce blurring, ISO range of 50, 100, 200, 400 and 800, lithium Ion Battery. The camera also comes with Auto focus and Manual Focus. The Best Shot button lets you rapidly access multiple scenarios chosen from an image menu. This allows you to pick a wide range of camera settings and modes when you take a photo. There's the Zoo mode, the Space Mode, the Ugly kid Mode and also the Distant scenery Mode. Only the last mode previously mentioned is probably available. It doesn't include that face-recognition software that calculates focus and exposure based on faces in your scenes. Not even Blink shot. In case you're wondering, a camera that uses Blink Shot won't take the picture if the eyes of the “focused-one” are closed. Ok, ok nobody has Blink Shot yet, but Canon is working on it (you can also expect a Smile Shot feature coming soon…maybe). It's available for 238 Euros. Beware, it's targeted at everyone! Stay away from the TV ads! Anyway, you won't be hearing or seeing an EX-Z1 ad speaking about its sensor size, the real meaningful comparison factor when it comes to buying a good digital camera (that is).

This is a translator perfectly suited to deal with the language barrier stuff. It has 103 dictionaries on board, out of which 41 are monolingual (English only).

This laptop shaped handheld will surely help globe trekkers, especially the English speaking ones. It is a powerful translator (and traveling companion) that also includes a pronunciation guide to help you better vocalize that native South Eastern accents. It also features a 4.6- inch touchscreen display (colorful enough). In fact, it has direct input via optical pen that allows you to write (draw maybe) Asian ideograms. The thing also sports a collection of writing and grammar exercises and tests with animation and voice.

The device features some indispensable multimedia features that will ease your journey. MP3 Playback is supported either from the integrated stereo or from a set of eardrubs. It also lets you keep a neat traveling audio journal (or just record stuff) using the voice recording feature. Doosan ships the Prime AP760 with a 1 GB removable SD card.

It's way too big to fit your pockets, but it might actually be a good choice when you're having problems communicating in a foreign country. If you want it, you'll have to fly to Korea (South Korea, of course). The Prime AP76 will hit the shops in the middle of April and it will sell for 307$. The company also has a shop for English-speaking customers that may offer the device soon (looks like the shop assistants will use the Prime too).

If you though gadgets are all about metal-shiny looks or sharp technology, you were wrong. And here is something to prove you otherwise."Killing time" devices! Isn't that what you've always wanted?
Alarm clocks are usually devices that can be silenced only if you get up and push zen button. Right! Well, London based designer and researcher Roger Ibars' alarm clock takes a different twist as it can be turned off by a GUN. Why knock the clock, just shoot the clock using
a retro gaming light gun (sorry, it doesn't come with bullets or gunpowder). Anyway, you wouldn't want time pieces displacing all over your room. Weird phenomena could take place. Take wormholes for example. Why not? Or devastating sound waves emitted by a crazy wife.

Shooting the alarm clock in different angles will trigger different functions such as setting the time and alarms. Roger Ibars, the man behind this project, equipped the gun with 5 tilt sensors, arranged at different angles on a small circuit band. A cable tethers the gun to the clock and carries your tilt and trigger signals to the clock's time and alarm clock and alarm control button contacts. Apparently, it's still in the project phase. The concept is still waiting for somebody with the technical knowledge to bring it to the masses. Anyway, a Nintendo light-gun that controls a classic Sonny cube-shaped alarm-clock already appeared on eBay (designed by the same Rogers Ibars). A simple gun-alarm-clock device has been featured in the magazine Artinvestor in December 2005.

Well, at least you can still use Clocky, MIT's Media Lab weird clock! You know... the clock with wheels that once its alarm is turned off rolls off the table to another part of the room, bumping mindlessly into objects on the floor until it eventually finds a spot to rest. Enough already! Where's that gun?
