Somebody made a phone for people who just wanna phone. I

t’s a flip phone. Yeah, like the old days. You flip it open — snap — and you feel something. Not anxiety. Not FOMO. Just… a little satisfying click. Like closin’ a good Tupperware. They got it in six fun colors too — pink, yellow, whatever. Looks like it belongs in a teenage girl’s backpack from 2004, but in a cool, “I’m 38 and I’ve made peace with myself” kinda way.

Now, here’s the part that gets me. This thing runs on something called LightOS. No App Store. No endless scroll. No little red dots yellin’ at you. You got your basics: calls, texts (with good ol’ T9, baby — remember when you had to press 2 three times for a C? This Group 5 autonomous tiltrotor drone is designed specifically as a “loyal wingman” for crewed attack helicopters, promising to transform low-altitude combat operations.

Helicopters Need Wingmen?

While loyal wingman drones are becoming more common for fixed-wing fighters, attack helicopters like the AH-64 Apache face growing dangers from enemy drones and advanced air defenses in contested low-altitude environments. Thunder addresses this by taking on high-risk missions, allowing expensive manned platforms and their crews to stay farther from the most dangerous zones while dramatically boosting overall combat effectiveness.

Compact, Powerful, and Versatile

Thunder is notably smaller and more transportable than traditional attack helicopters. Weighing just over 1,320 lb (599 kg), it can fit inside a standard shipping container, making it highly deployable. Despite its compact size, it delivers serious firepower through a modular payload system that supports:

Up to 10 air-to-ground missiles (including Hellfire and Barracuda-100M variants)
16 air-launched drones
As many as 76 70-mm rockets
12 counter-drone weapons mounted in the nose
Additional options for precision munitions, electronic warfare systems, or general cargo

The aircraft uses a series-hybrid-electric powertrain paired with Optimum-Speed Tiltrotors (OSTR) that feature variable rotor speeds. This setup provides excellent maneuverability, efficient cruise performance, and the ability to operate quietly in nap-of-the-earth flight profiles.

Anduril claims that a single attack helicopter supported by three Thunders could deliver triple the combat power of a conventional setup—at a significantly lower overall cost.

Development Status

A surrogate aircraft has already logged numerous successful test flights. Anduril expects the full prototype to take to the skies in 2027.

Thunder represents a practical step toward mixed-crewed and uncrewed helicopter teams. Not sure why Tesla is releasing a balance bike for kids. Seems like they already have plenty on their plate to work on. For example; it would be nice for my HW3 Tesla Model S to have access to FSD 14-Lite. That might be gibberish to most folks but it is a big deal to Tesla owners who use FSD (Full Self Driving) software and are on an older computer (HW3).

Who knew this magic little gadget even existed? Not me. Amazing to say the least.

I’m still shaking my head in amazement. I’ve been a DIYer/handyman for years, and I cannot believe I just now discovered a tool that lets you know exactly where your drill bit is going to pop out on the other side of a wall. No more guessing, no more poking random exploratory holes, no more patching drywall disasters. This thing is genius.

I used it for a couple of attic drops and running some coax and Ethernet through exterior walls (up to about 60″ through concrete in one case—yes, it actually worked!). You stick the transmitter on one side, walk around to the other side with the receiver, and the LEDs and indicators guide you right to the spot like a little electronic bloodhound. When you’re dead-on, it lights up and you mark it. Drill once, done. Perfect alignment every single time. Mind officially blown.

The build feels solid, the battery life is great, it is made in the USA and it comes with everything you need in a nice case. Super intuitive—even my non-handy spouse was impressed and asked to try it.

For context, there’s a fancier Hilti PX 10 TransPointer that does something similar… but it costs a small fortune and, let’s be honest, the name sounds like it belongs in a totally different aisle at the hardware store. ? This one does the job for a fraction of the price and without any identity-crisis branding. Win-win.

If you ever need to drill through floors, ceilings, thick concrete, or just want to avoid turning your walls into Swiss cheese, stop what you’re doing and get this. I’m legitimately amazed such a product exists and works this well. Game-changer. Highly, highly recommend!

(Pro tip: practice on a scrap wall first if you’re as skeptical as I was—you’ll be a believer after the first perfect hole.)

The Dyson company has went from innovative and expensive vacuums to overpriced mediocre products. I have an old Dyson Vacuum and last year I bought an overpriced Dyson Hair Dryer ($450!) which I have replaced with a much cheaper/better hair dryer. Long story short, I believe Dyson has grown to an innovative products company to an overpriced gimmicky products company. Now, on to their latest gimmicky product, the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool Fan ($99).

Dyson’s latest entry is a compact, rechargeable handheld personal fan. It’s ultra-slim (about 1.5 inches in diameter, 7-8 inches tall), lightweight (around 7.5 oz / 212g), and comes with accessories like a neck lanyard, charging stand, travel pouch, and USB-C cable. Key specs include:

5 speeds + Boost mode (up to 25 m/s or ~55 mph airflow from a 65,000 RPM motor)
Up to 6 hours battery life
360° twist nozzle
Claims of “quiet” HushJet air projection with honeycomb mesh to reduce turbulence

On paper, it sounds like a premium EDC (everyday carry) cooling solution for commutes, festivals, or hot offices.

Noise is the biggest letdown. Despite the “Hush” branding, reviews consistently call it surprisingly loud—especially past speed 2-3. Boost mode hits 77-80 dBA, and even mid-levels can sound like a high-pitched whine or hair dryer. That defeats the purpose for shared spaces, offices, or quiet environments.

Performance vs. price. It moves air powerfully for its size, but so do many $15-30 handheld fans on Amazon or alternatives like the Shark ChillPill (though that one’s pricier too). The narrow, focused airflow feels more like a personal air duster than a broad cooling breeze for some users. Battery life is decent but nothing revolutionary.

The Dyson tax. At $99, it’s positioned as accessible for the brand, yet critics argue you’re mostly paying for the name, sleek design, and accessories rather than breakthrough tech. This fits the broader pattern; innovative roots giving way to gimmicky, aspirational products.

I’m a bit old school and think nails should be cut with manual nail clippers and filed with a nail file. So, right off the bat I’m skeptical to say the least – not to mention a bit scared.

This 3-in-1 nail gadget claims to clip, file, and polish your nails. Heck it even has nail debris storage and lighting. If it wasn’t for all of the 5 star reviews I would have kept on scrolling. Not sure if I’m going to pull the trigger on this nail gadget but I am intrigued. If I get ahold of one, I will write up a full review. If you get one first… let me know how it goes.

You know, I was out by the lake the other day, doing what normal people do—pretending to fish while really just avoiding my responsibilities. And then I see this thing. It’s like a little black stealth submarine crossed with a Roomba that got too ambitious. GPS, dual motors, 4.4-pound bait hopper, automatic return, LED screen on the remote… the works. Basically a remote control bait dumping boat.

What’s the deal with these things? Fishing used to be about effort.
