It is also lightweight at 119 grams, which is impressive for a phone with so many features built in.

The 4 inch screen utilises super AMOLED capacitive technology to provide a dynamic and engaging method of navigating the TouchWiz 3.0 UI. Multi-touch input, accelerometer and proximity sensors are all included, as well as the Swype test input function. The latter is a simple yet ingenious method of entering text quickly. It allows users to slide their fingertip from one letter to another on the onscreen QWERTY keyboard, without it leaving the screen. With a little practice, test entry speeds can be greatly reduced, making the Samsung Galaxy S a perfect companion for those who send a lot of text messages or emails.

Both vibration and ringing alert users to incoming calls and messages, with the added bonus of supporting MP3 and WAV ringtones. This feature allows users to assign tracks from their music collection to customise their ringtone, therefore hearing the song of their choice whenever the phone rings.

In order to connect to the appropriate cellular networks, the Samsung Galaxy S relies on class 12 version of both GPRS and EDGE. To surf the web, areas with 3G coverage allows speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps to be achieved. In order to gain a faster web browsing experience, Wi-Fi connectivity takes advantage of local wireless networks where available, i.e. when the handset is in proximity to a wireless internet router, in commercial, domestic or public locations.

A handy 5 megapixel camera is on hand to take great quality snapshots, in a pixel resolution of 2592x 1944. Autofocus, touch focus, face and smile detection are all included as standard, making the task of taking great photos as simple as possible. As you would expect from a smartphone of this calibre, the camera can also shoot video, and this is in 720p HD quality. Thanks to a TV-out port, the handset can be connected to an HD TV to enjoy the footage and pictures in all their HD glory.

The winning combination of Android OS (v2.1) and a 1GHz processor means the Samsung Galaxy S is both versatile and powerful. Demanding applications operate with ease thanks to the power of the processor, whilst the Android OS provides access to the Android Market, which similarly to the Apple AppStore, allows users to browse thousands of apps from numerous categories, and then download them to the UI. This gives the Samsung Galaxy S unlimited potential in terms of versatility and functionality.

Thanks to the above features, the Samsung Galaxy S provides a great option, whether you are looking for a smartphone to provide a portable web browser, entertainment device, or even a workplace productivity tool.

Article Source:
http://www.articlecity.com/articles/gadgets_and_gizmos/article_2373.shtml

Gadgets Articles

The Nokia N8 Features A High Performance Camera

The Nokia N8 is a new smartphone from the mobile giants, which is their new flagship unit for 2010. It will contain detailed instructions on the download, which will be done from the agloco.com website. Members will be invited to download in groups of 50,000 a day for a two week period, with Members contacted in the order in which they signed up.

Shortly before the first set of download emails go out, you will receive an email notice that the AGLOCO website will be ‘out of service’ for a few hours – this is necessary for us to move the Viewbar download system from the test server to the main servers.

Also, please be aware of the following:

1. AGLOCO Hours: You will accrue hours in your AGLOCO Member account (current maximum is five direct hours a month). Hours are earned during active surfing on the Internet. The Viewbar has a green light on it that notifies the Member when it is accruing time. Your referrals’ surfing will accumulate hours for you at a 25% rate, meaning if one of your referrals surfs for the maximum five hours you will get 1.25 (0.25 x 5) hours credited to your total referral hours. You can only get credit referral hours up to the amount you directly surf (meaning if you surf 3 hours but a referral surfs 4, you will only get credit for the first 3 of your referral’s 4 hours). AGLOCO accrues these hours each month and also has a cumulative total of all hours earned. These hours are what AGLOCO will use to calculate cash and other distributions. The Viewbar contains a one click inactive button which turns it off and removes it from your screen at any time.
2. Initial Release for Windows: The initial Viewbar release will be for Windows Vista, XP, 2000 Pro and 2000 Server. Later, we will release Mac and Linux versions of the Viewbar. Until that occurs, Mac/Linux users can still log onto any supported Windows computer and accumulate their five hours. The Viewbar works with browsers IE 5.5 or higher and Firefox 1.5 or higher.
3. Cash Distributions: To be a sustainable entity in the long term, AGLOCO makes Member cash distributions from its positive cash flow (revenue minus costs). Therefore, please do not expect a check after the first couple of months as it will take time to collect revenue from advertisers and this revenue must exceed costs in order to make cash distributions to Members. We will be keeping Members informed of our financials and you can visit the Official company blog at http://blog.agloco.com for the latest updates.
4. Multiple Users on One Viewbar: As stated previously, multiple Members may use the same Viewbar on the same computer. Only one Viewbar download will be necessary as the Viewbar software will enable each Member to log in and log out using their AGLOCO Member ID# and password (obviously, only one Member ID# can be accumulating Viewbar hours at any one time). Please note, only one Viewbar is allowed on a screen at a time.
5. One-Time Download: The v1.0 Viewbar is purposely simplistic and minimalist, but it also comes equipped with an automatic self-updating feature. Once you download the Viewbar for the first time, your Viewbar will be seamlessly updated with new additions and features as they become available. These future features include the direct cash back feature when a Member purchases items on sponsor site and a portion of the purchase price is added back to the Member’s AGLOCO account (as described on the Official AGLOCO Blog at http://blog.agloco.com/index.php/post35/ . )

We look forward to your active participation in the AGLOCO community.

Dan Jorgensen
Member Coordinator

Hurry up........ I love it so much that I even have two video games systems at home — an x box and a Playstation. I used to play with my Playstation most of the time because it had all the games that I love to play. But recently I’ve noticed that I now have an extensive collection of x box games and my Playstation has been collecting dust in a corner.

It all began a year ago when I saw the x box in my neighbor’s multi family yard sale. He wanted to get rid of it because his son has been spending all of his me on it and I was able to get for a reasonably low price. And since he also had lots of x box games to go with the system I was able to get them for a few bucks as well. I was able to get my favorite fighting games for a lot less money than of have I bought them from a video game store.

The x box game that I’ve grown to really love is the Dance Dance Revolution. It’s a new type of game that combines a workout with the normal gaming experience. It’s a revolutionary video game that tries to accurately simulate dancing. At the time that I bought the game I had no idea that it would be challenging.

To my surprise it was quite difficult and I actually felt that I was really dancing as I played the game. It’s amazing to play a game that stimulates your mind while giving you a cardio-vascular exercise.

X box games can cost quite a lot and I learned that it would be wise to rent a game from a video store to determine if it’s worth buying. However, Dance Dance revolution was the exception. It’s the only game that was more convenient to buy than to having rent the game and the mat. The idea of using a mat that was used by other people seemed quite unhygienic.

X box games on eBay can also be bought for less money than those on video games stores so I go there to check out some games. The most economical way to get new games is to trade games with other x box gamers but you have to make sure than you ca get your games back. In recent months the only games I buy are the ones that I’ll really like and of course, the exceptional Dance Dance Revolution.

About The Author
Morgan Hamilton offers expert advice and great tips regarding all aspects concerning X Box Games. They offer only a few different TV’s, but they have some of the lowest prices available anywhere. They are a great starter set for those looking to take a dip in the HDTV pool without spending tens of thousands of dollars.

While Visio doesn’t make a 37-inch plasma HDTV, they do make a 37-inch LCD model that is very attractive. The Visio 37” LCD L37 HDTV is the number one selling set of that size in the United States right now and it retails for $999 on their own website. In the UK, it sells for the same price but in English Pounds from retailers such as Tiger Direct. The set comes with a one-year warranty and has an excellent resolution at 1366x768.

Visio does make other sets, as well. If you must have a plasma TV, they make a 42” model and a 50” model.

The 42” plasma P42 HDTV retails for $1299 directly from Visio. It comes with a mind blowing contrast ratio of 10,000 to 1 which makes for an exceptionally clear picture. The set can also show up to 231 billion different colors. One can only imagine what a nature show on the Discovery channel would look like in 231 billion colors. The set also comes with a one year warranty.

It’s big brother, the 50” plasma P50 HDTV also offers an amazing 231 billion colors, but with the wider picture, it can make watching TV an incredible experience. The set retails at $1,999 directly from Visio, but it can probably be found cheaper if you shop around. This particular set has won some awards, as well. PC Magazine awarded this set its editor’s award and Kiplinger’s magazine put it on their 2006 best of list. If you’re looking for that Visio 37 HDTV, you might want to upgrade to this beauty, you won’t be disappointed.

With so many different models on the market, choosing the perfect HDTV for you can be tough. But with these quality Visio models, you can be sure that you’ll be getting the best value for your money.

About The Author
Dean Iggo is the webmaster of http://hdtvBrandReview.com where you can find hdtv reviews of the most popular brands and models including including LG, Pioneer, Sony, Panasonic and more.

Gadgets Articles

Samsung Mobile Phones: Technology That Rules The World

by: Carly Charu

Technology rules the world and mobile phone is an excellent consequence of this technology. Digital photography has flourished of late and for good reason. Gone are the days when taking your holiday snaps required buying a film, taking pictures in the hope that at least half would develop and then tripping down top the processor after your holiday or sightseeing. Now there is a multitude of options from the expensive to inexpensive that allow you to take your pictures, view the results and decide which pictures to save for future printing on your home PC or delete as unsatisfactory. All the former big boys in the camera market, such as Canon, Kodak, Nikon, Olympus and Fuji now have digital cameras to suit every pocket and every use. There are even numerous smaller companies building digital cameras to suit this ever growing market. For a first time buyer the choice can be so bewildering, so how do you choose which camera will suit you?

The basics of choosing a digital camera are to know your budget, know what type of pictures you want to take and how you intend to use the pictures.

For the beginner setting a budget on your camera purchase will soon cut down the choice to a manageable level. Ask yourself, are you just gong to take the odd holiday snap if a one off picture opportunity comes up or are you the type who likes to fully document each holiday you have, maybe you’re a habitual holiday snapper from pre digital times? If you’re the type who only takes a picture on holiday if you see something truly inspiring or just to document that you did attend then go for the lower price end. You should be able to pick up something useable for $50. If you document your holidays and most of the sights you see regularly and have maybe owned a camera for years then splash out toward the higher end of the basic models, think in terms of a $200 investment.

Once you have established your budget consider the type of pictures you’ll be taking. Are you likely to be taking pictures everywhere you go? Consider the weight and size of the camera you need. Are you likely to be taking pictures of friends and relatives on location or do you have an eye for the picturesque panoramas? Maybe consider a zoom lense, for panoramas go optical for family shots a digital zoom with flash may suffice. Are you a habitual snapper when the cameras in your hand or an opportunist clicker? Consider the size of memory you’ll require. The opportunist may not require huge lumps of memory but a habitual snapper may be different. Think about battery life. If your going to take a few shots a day you’ll need a better battery life than if you take the odd snap.

Once you have chosen the best combination of size, weight, memory, battery life and zoom for your uses, consider how you will use your pictures. If you need to print large pictures off your computer beware the more megapixels (resolution) you have the better. It is a sure thing that the higher the megapixels the more expensive the camera, so leave this choice till last. For a beginner spending your budget on a camera based on megapixels initially will lead to a poor choice with a camera that does have the other characteristics to suit your purposes. If you generally print off the more traditional photo sizes for an album do not be to concerned with the number of megapixels, most base model digital cameras will give you an adequate print.

About The Author

Richard Merson writes for http://www.online-digital-photo.net.
Gadgets Articles

Motorola Ring Tone- Milestone In Ringtone History

by: Low Jeremy

Literally speaking, there are not only tens but hundreds of cell phone models that are sold in the market. Sometimes, you will run out of time in choosing the best that you think will fit your needs. Dozens of manufacturers are also competing in the world of technology. Over time, new features and versions are being advertised in billboards and televisions that caught your attention.

The decision of making a choice on your cell phone is crucial although for some it is just a quick one especially for those people who can afford to change their units monthly or even weekly. The customers cannot be blamed about this attitude because in the first place, the innovative features that are being presented by the manufacturers are incomparable.

Fooling as they seem but it is indeed true. There are cell phones that are appealing to your eyes but the features are not commendable though some are on top rank when it comes to quality. One is the Nokia Manufacturer. It is known for its credibility in the different fields of cell phone technology. This is also one of the pioneering companies of cell phones.

When you try to choose one, you have to consider certain criteria. These are important determinants for you to arrive at a good choice and these include quality design, dependability, handiness and over all user satisfaction. If you are able to find all those factors in one, then you will not regret your choice.

Aside from Nokia, another brand of cell phone that marks the mind of the users and subscribers is the Motorola. Yes, it is also tested for high quality, resolution and tones. In fact, some of the clients of cell phones prefer to buy Motorola because of its quality and affordability.

Some of the regarded features of Motorola cell phones are 10-second video capture and playback, mega pixel cam with digital zoom, Led spotlight to bring more emphasis to the picture and many more. The multimedia service also allows the users to transfer data from one cell phone to another in just a flick of a finger.

Above other important features of Motorola cell phones is the ringtone. The phone is designed to have its own Media Center where the user can manage all images, voice recordings and ring tones. This is the reason why the tones are organized in the phones to a specific area.

The quality of the ringtone that you will hear from a Motorola phone is very pleasant to your ears because this is also polyphonic. There are some easy ways on how you can transfer the most recent tones in your cell phones; it can be through a direct purchase to your network or better do a free download from the Internet.

It is much better to download tones in the Net because you will not consume big amount of money. Aside from that, you can also choose your favorite version and composer of the song. It can be done with the use of your Personal computers via USB.

From the built in composers of ringtone in your old phones, Motorola now brings a milestone in ringtone history. This can be cherished and even more improved in the next generations.

There are more to come. However, let us enjoy first what we have these days.

About The Author
This content is provided by Low Jeremy. We’ve upgraded our development tools to new versions but, you can still use GC programs as they are. With that in mind, I thought we could remake GC titles for the Wii and modify them to work with the Wii remote so that they’re more fun to play.’

This statement been making its speedy journey around the web, with the predictable result.

‘i tuld u tha Wee sux0rs!’ ‘Thus proving the Wii is infact.. a repackaged gamecube’ ‘Rofl @ Nintendo’

The argument need to be split in half to avoid confusion. Lumping the two arguments together ends in a negative situation, where neither of the debating parties can influence the opposition.

Firstly, The Wii is GameCube 1.5?

Miyamoto, in his cute little ‘Wish we had an international auxillary language to stop english speaking ‘l33t’ gamers from mocking our consumers’ way, was accurate with his statement. The hardware is similar to the GameCube. WAIT! Don’t go running away just yet, for here is a word equation that will float your boat.

The Nintendo Wii hardware is similar to the Gamecube, as A gaming PC is similar to a Windows 95 word processing computer.

What! Says you, but my ‘uber el33tzo0r’ Gaming PC has 4 GB of Ram! It has 6.7 Gigahertz of processing power! THINK. Instead of thinking about the technological specifics of ‘hardware capabilities’, when the above statement is made, one is referring to the style in which hardware and software are created. The Architecture of the device.

Going out on another tangent, Nintendo would not be stupid enough to make the GameCube mistake again. The GC was not a high point for flailing Nintendo. Why now, riding on the success of the Nintendo DS, an innovative handheld device that has taken the world by storm, would Nintendo choose to release an updated version of a failure?

Wii Vs Xbox360 Vs Playstation3

To be blatantly honest, the next-gen console battle will be fought between the Xbox360, and the Playstation3. Unfortunately for Sony and Microsoft, they have launched products capable of the same types of activities, with the same types of controls and the same types of games. It’s a marketing battle to see who will triumph. But for those looking for new, innovative [ie: Not BluRay] technology with an element of fun and a totally unique experience will choose the Wii. There is nothing else on the market to compete with it.

So who would buy the Wii? Just little kids right? Nintendo has many different demographics to target. From the very young, to the very old. The DS has opened the eyes of previously video game free generations, and inspired those just entering the market, as well as gameboy fans looking for a quality handheld. Half-core gamers want something fresh. they want to play with their friends and have fun. They don’t want to shell out big bucks for a gaming system, but would be happy to pay a much lower price for entertainment.

You can not compare consoles on specifications alone. You must use implementation examples to compare things. On paper, the Playstation 3 is the strongest console. Better than the Wii, better than the Xbox360. But does it have quality games? Will there be many games? Will Sony finally be able to create a game that creates a third of the hype that Halo does? Until all consoles have been released internationally, it is futile to argue over which console is ’superior’ and which will succeed.

The Nintendo Wii is not a Game Cube. As the old saying goes, it’s like comparing apples and oranges. Both are in the same general class, yet there are fundamental differences that make comparing them pointless.

About The Author
Kit Allen, the chief contributor to Nintendo Blog,
http://nintendocommunity.com wrote this article to inform the
world about the Nintendo Wii.
Gadgets Articles

Edirol R-09 Wave/MP3 Recorder Review

by: Digital Man

My Sony Hi-MD (mini disc) kicked the bucket somewhat prematurely. It chews and chews on a disc without engaging. I suppose the mechanism got mangled on one of my trans-Atlantic flights. I had to drag myself into the modern recording age and invest 300 quid in a flash recorder, AND stump up another 25 for an SD memory card. And do you know what? It was worth it.

The Edirol R-09 by Roland of seventies synthesizer fame won’t win any prizes in a beauty contest. It looks more like an electric shaver than a digital recorder - but that hasn’t stopped me falling in love with it. I’m suspicious of in-built microphones, but those silver grills on the top are pretty good - fine for journalistic notes at any rate. The plastic record and play buttons are big and chunky, but they are dead easy to use without reference to the manual. Even someone like me who is all thumbs and struggles to send a text message can use them with ease. There are buttons on the back for mono or stereo, automatic recording levels, etc. Volume controls are on the side. In other words, you can do most things without scrolling through a menu on the LCD screen. Transfer of sound onto the laptop is a doddle. You plug it into the USB and it becomes an external disc. I just open up SoundForge on my computer and start editing away. I have a 2 Gig SD card so it holds several hours of audio.

And what about the quality? It records in mp3 or WAV, the latter being uncompressed and very high quality indeed. It’s 24 bit, which is ample. You might want more bits for recoding the Boston Philharmonic, but short of that it will do for most things. I find it works best with my microphone routed into the sound mixer via the Line In. When I plugged my Sure SM58 directly into the R-09 I got a certain amount of hiss. Not much, but discernible. Perhaps the impedance does not quite match (or some such technical guff). Edirol recommend buying one of their own external condenser mics, but they would say that, wouldn’t they. I might try a transformer. I would hate to buy yet another mic for out and about interviews, but it might come to that...

About The Author
Digital Man, a sales manager of Gigasonic, has more than 10 years experience dealing with music gears.

For more information and products, go to http://www.gigasonic.com.
Gadgets Articles

Amp'd Mobile Phones: Can Your Phone Do This?

by: DeWayne H. Nowadays, there are many different service providers that are offering a lot of different deals. It can be overwhelming for the everyday shopper. In order to make a good decision, a buyer would need a convenient method to compare cellular plans.

I used to think that the only way to compare cellular plans would be to visit every cell phone sales booth or to transact with other authorized dealers personally. This method takes up a lot of time and I would usually stop after examining the merchandise of a couple of stores. I am well aware of the advantages of comparison shopping, but I don’t want to consume several days on the activity.

I chose to go home and find out if it is possible to compare cellular plans on the World-Wide-Web. I have no idea why I didn’t think of this idea before. After all, people can do pretty much everything on cyberspace these days, and my task wasn’t exactly an unusual one. As I had hoped, it was quite simple and easy to compare cellular plans on the Internet.

I discovered that it would be a lot simpler to go directly to a couple of different consumer-oriented sites instead of visiting each individual service provider’s website. These consumer-oriented sites enabled me to compare cellular plans from different providers all on the same page. This format makes it convenient to see which deal were the best and which deals were too damaging to my budget. After I found a suitable plan from the comparison chart, all I need to do was visit the nearest shop and order what I need.

I was able to save money on my service contract because I took time to compare cellular plans before paying for a phone. I was only required to pay for the features that I would actually use and did not get locked into a long-term deal. I was really satisfied with the cell phone plan that I was able to get. Before you buy a new cell phone or sign with a new provider, I advise you to compare cellular plans first. Doing so will give you the satisfaction of getting the best deal possible.

About The Author
Morgan Hamilton offers expert advice and great tips in all aspects concerning Cellular Plans. The Xbox 360 has had the next generation gaming market to itself for a year. Now its two competitors, the Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii, are here. No more speculating about speed. No more guessing about memory. Now we can take a look and see exactly how they stack up compared to each other.

Let the console wars begin again.

Price

The PS3 has two configurations much like the Xbox 360. The PS3 comes in a $499 version that comes with a 20 GB hard drive and a $599 version that comes with a 60 GB hard drive; Wi-Fi; and memory stick, SD, and Compact Flash slots.

The Xbox 360 has two configurations. It comes in a $299 core version and a $399 version that comes with a 20GB hard drive.

The Nintendo Wii is the cheapest of the bunch with just one configuration that costs $250.

Processing Power

The Playstation 3 comes with its Cell processor. It’s a PowerPC based core that runs at 3.2 GHz that also have seven DSPs that run at 3.2 GHz. This configuration can do about 2 Teraflops.

The Xbox 360 has a Custom IBM PowerPC processor. This processor also runs at 3.2 GHz. However, Xbox went with a true 3 core processor compared to the one general processor of the Cell and seven additional DSPs. This configuration can do about 1 Teraflop.

The Nintendo Wii includes its Broadway processor, a PowerPC based processor running at 729 MHz.

Disc Media

Part of the reason the PS3 is so much more expensive than the Xbox 360 is because the Sony decided to include a Blu-ray drive on the system. The drive can play both Blu-ray movies and regular DVDs. The Xbox 360 comes with a DVD player and an HD-DVD add-on is planned. The Nintendo Wii uses a DVD drive; however, the system will not work for playback of movies, just Nintendo games.

Backwards Compatibility

The Playstation 3 is just like the PS2 was. You’ll be able to play both PS2 and PSone games on the PS3. Nintendo is taking things a bit further. Their system will be compatible with the Gamecube games and also the Gamecube controllers since the two systems use very different controllers. Not only that, but the Wii will also have the ability to download games from the original Nintendo (NES), Super Nintendo (SNES), and the Nintendo 64.

Sweet Features

If you want high definition gaming, then the PS3 is the way to go. It comes with a Blu-ray drive built in and can output in 1080p. Although the PS3 controller may look familiar, it’s had some updates. The controller is now motion sensing so in some games you’ll be able to move your character or fly a plane just by moving the controller.

The Xbox 360 was built to work with Windows XP media center. If you have a computer that already has media center on it, you’ll be able to view pictures, videos, and even recorded TV by using your Xbox. You won’t need to put your PC in your living room to take advantage of having a Media Center PC.

The Nintendo Wii decided to completely change the way gaming controllers are built. In the past, one controller was always held with both hands. The Wii’s controller looks more like a TV remote control than a game controller. It has a built in motion sensor so, for example, to swing a sword, you simply move you hand just like you were really swinging a sword.

Hopefully this review has helped you compare the three next generation gaming systems. Each has its pluses and minuses, and feature that are unique to it. Ultimately, your decision will likely come down to which system has the games that most appeal to you. And that is a decision that only you can make when deciding on a system to buy.

About The Author
Gary Ruplinger is the editor of http://www.ps3asap.com, a resource for getting the in demand PS3 system. Once you have decided to purchase a satellite laptop, then you have to decide which one.

You can purchase Toshiba satellite laptops for as little as $600 and as much as $2,500. There are several models to choose from including the A100 Series, A105 Series, L20 Series, M45, M50, M55, M60, and M65 Series, and R10 and R15 Series. Each of them is unique in their own respect. Once you clearly document what you will use your new computer for, then, and only then should you begin shopping through the different models.

Most home users can get by with the M50, the beginning price Toshiba. It starts at $799.20 and goes up from there if you decide to further customize. However it does not come with Microsoft Office software. It’s inexpensive partly because it comes with an Intel Celeron M Processor 370 and 40 GB of HD. The rest of the M series is more costly. The M45 starts at $949.00, but only has the battery life of an hour. The M55 starts at $1,149.99 and is getting vastly better reviews if you look around, the M60 starts at $1034.10, and the M65 starts at $1,299.99.

The A100 series uses an Intel Pentium M780, wireless LAN, and Bluetooth capabilities, although it doesn’t come with Microsoft Office either. The A105 series is known for its light weight.

The L20 series is marketed as its value buy. It features Intel Cetrino Mobile Technology; an Intel Pentium M Processor 730 has 40GB and 256MB RAM.

The R series is a bit higher end. The R10 Tablet PC is known for its hinge design allowing the screen to swivel and lock into ‘tablet’ position easily. The R15 combines advanced notebook power with the comfort of simple pen and paper. In a few seconds, you can use a pen with very precise digital ink to write down anything you want. Very cool stuff.

Some swear by these laptops, while others haven’t noticed any big difference between a satellite laptop and a regular one. My experience has been very good, I have and R series and it's unique design is perfect for me. I also like the digital ink pen, very cool. Even though you haven’t heard much about these laptops, the buzz is picking up.

About The Author

J Zuniga is a senior editor of http://www.cheaper-satellite-laptops.com an informative site about satellite laptops. These are particularly attractive to a wide range of users because of their light weight, ease of use, high image quality and high functionality. Canon digital camera experts are highly experienced in camera manufacturer, leading-edge optical technology, ultra high-precision mounting technology, electronic device technology and color management technology amongst others. All of this experience and expertise is combined to produce the Canon digital camera PowerShot series and the PowerShot DIGITAL ELPH/DIGITAL IXUS series.

Throughout their continuing research, the Canon digital camera development team has collected a large amount of photographic data and also made broad statistical analyses of the frequency involved in taking photographs. This data led to the creation of the Canon digital camera Photographic Space which is a graphical database of information relating to the relationship between surrounding brightness and distance between a Canon digital camera and the subject relative to the focal length and position of the zoom lens when pictures are taken.

The Canon digital camera Photographic Space led to the development of a new scene-recognition technology called "iSAPS" (intelligent Scene Analysis based on Photographic Space) Technology. Canon digital camera iSAPS Technology analyses the scene to be photographed and makes optimal adjustments of a number of key functions, including auto-focus, before the shutter is pressed.

The Canon digital camera iSAPS Technology closely estimates the camera-to-subject distance based on the lens focal length, zoom position and surrounding brightness which guarantees the most accurate exposure and white balance settings for the overall conditions.

At the high end of the Canon digital camera range are their single-lens reflex, or SLR, cameras. The Canon digital camera company has created ultra-high-precision imaging elements and high-performance digital imaging engines so that their digital SLR cameras possess the same ease of operation as their 35mm film counterparts but produce exceptionally high-quality images.

The Canon digital camera imaging engine, or DIGIC II, creates image data from signals output from a CMOS, or complementary metal oxide semiconductor, sensor. The CMOS sensor is really the brain of any digital camera. Canon developed the Canon digital camera DIGIC II high-performance imaging engine directly due to the increasingly high resolution CMOS sensors. With the help of a high-capacity DDRS DRAM (double data rate SDRAM) as the buffer memory, the Canon digital camera DIGIC II processes high-resolution images at ultra-high speeds.

About The Author

Steve Gargin is the administrator of http://digital-camera-reviews.helper-guru.com/camera-digital-finepix-fuji-review/index.html which is a great website dedicated to giving free advice on Digital Cameras.

Your Ad Here

Gadgets Articles

No Such Thing As an HDTV Antenna!

by: Eric Gov

Over-the-air (OTA) HDTV becomes more and more popular. For someone who is used to noisy analog TV pictures, it is hard to believe how amazing a quality of HDTV broadcasts can be. In fact, HDTV channels received over the air free of charge often have better quality than the same channels received through a paid satellite HDTV subscription. All you need to enjoy OTA HDTV is a HD television with a built-in HDTV tuner and an HDTV antenna.

Huh? Which kind of antenna?! If you have Ph.D in Electrical Engineering and have never heard about the antenna type called "HDTV antenna", it's not because you were a bad student. HDTV antenna has nothing to do with physics and engineering. It was invented in marketing departments. Marketing found an effective trick to boost TV antenna sales. HDTV is a hot thing these days. Call essentially the same device HDTV antenna, and it sells better. It makes people to believe they must buy an HDTV model or HDTV optimized antenna to watch HDTV broadcasts. This is very far from truth.

HDTV antenna hype created a huge misconception with regard to TV antennas used for HDTV reception. This article is an attempt to clarify this issue.

Do you know what a regular antenna is? Antenna is a piece of metal designed to resonate at a specific frequency and to be responsive over a certain range of frequencies. TV antennas are designed to work either in the range of Ultra High Frequencies (UHF), Very High Frequencies (VHF) or both. Any station transmitting in the VHF/UHF frequency bands, can be picked up by a VHF/UHF antenna and transferred to the TV set.

All television broadcasts, digital and analog, are in the VHF and UHF bands. Over 90% of the HDTV broadcasts are in the UHF, and less than 10% in the VHF band. What is important from the antenna perspective is that HDTV falls in the bandwidth of a regular VHF/UHF antenna. Not HDTV antenna, not HDTV optimized antenna, just a normal regular TV antenna. What makes a signal to be HD is its content, the way a signal is modulated, and not the carrier frequency it is transmitted on. On the contrary, the antenna knows nothing about the signal modulation and content. Hence, you don't need an HDTV antenna to pick up the HD signal. An antenna has absolutely no idea what the signal resolution is. It can be HDTV, SDTV, NTSC, whatever. It is the job of a HDTV tuner and HD television set to demodulate the signal and to present the actual content on the screen.

Well, the antenna bandwidth and frequency response are not the only parameters that are important for clear TV reception. An antenna has other important electrical and spatial properties, such as antenna gain (directivity) and high front-to-back (F/B) ratio. One might assume that an HDTV antenna should be more powerful in terms of F/B and gain parameters. Does HDTV reception impose more stringent requirements on antenna gain and F/B ratio?

There is a wrong, yet widespread belief that you need more antenna gain to receive digital television. I don't know where the hell this belief comes from, cause the situation is exactly the opposite. HDTV has much better noise and interference immunity than the analog television and can produce high quality video at significantly lower signal-to-noise ratios.

Another important specification, F/B ratio, has to do with the antenna ability to cope with a multi-path signal propagation from the towers to the receiving antenna. The higher F/B ratio is, the better is multi-path rejection (also known as ghost suppression). Without going into technical details, we must say that HDTV signal is a bit more sensitive to multi-path cause it has slightly larger bandwidth. Multi-path causes dips in the signal spectrum, whereas we want to keep the spectrum as flat as possible. When signal content is spread over a larger portion of spectrum it is more likely to be distorted by multi-path. Basically, what TV equipment manufacturers are trying to do in the so called HDTV optimization is to keep the spectrum flat in the whole frequency band. It is important for HDTV antenna to have a high F/B ratio in some areas where ghosts may be a problem. The point is, however, that most directional, old fashioned and cheap TV antennas have F/B ratio good enough to handle multi-path propagation of HDTV signal and keep spectrum distortion at minimum. If an antenna can handle an analog signal, it can handle a digital signal as well.

There is nothing specific about a TV antenna that is used to receive HDTV. When choosing an HDTV antenna, check the really important parameters such as directivity, gain, F/B ratio. These specifications are important for reception of both, digital and analog broadcasts. The HDTV optimization is probably the least important factor you should take into account.

About The Author

Eric Gov is with HDTV Antenna Labs.

HDTV Antenna Labs features antenna reviews and selection guide.

For more information visit http://www.HDTvAntennaLabs.com

Gadgets Articles

Binocular Trends and Technology

By Bill MacArthur

There have been some incredible developments in optical technology in recent years. One of the most interesting new products comes from a company called Torrey Pines Logic. It has been developed in partnership with the United States Navy, and it is currently being field tested for use in Iraq and beyond. It is called LightSpeed, and it just might revolutionize battlefield communications.

The new device, developed with funding from the Office of Naval Research, is a short-range communications tool that will allow soldiers to talk on a secure channel up to two miles away, simply by looking at one another. It uses infrared to transmit audio and video data, and connects to a standard pair of binoculars. It employs the use of optical lenses to amplify the audio and video signals.

Soldiers in the field can connect headphones and a microphone to the binoculars to speak to one another, so long as they are both using the same device. The great thing about LightSpeed is that it is considerably more secure than traditional lasers or radio. Furthermore, it is extremely low power. This is important because it is less susceptible to being picked up and monitored by the other side. While it is intended for short range, line-of-sight communications, it has proven to be highly versatile in the field.

One application that has showed incredible promise is during vessel boarding search and seizure. The device can be used to transmit biometric data of passengers back to the ship. It is also ideal as a secondary communications device during radio blackouts. LightSpeed is also being tested for use in communications between submarines and aircraft, explosive ordinance disposal, and unmanned aerial vehicle landings.

Although the technology behind the LightSpeed device has been around for some time, it was not until 2003 that it first came to the attention of the US Navy. It was discovered at a tradeshow by a Navy Commander, and submitted to the Office of Naval Research's Tech Solutions department. ONR's Tech Solutions is a program that allows Sailors and Marines to suggest potential solutions to technology challenges. LightSpeed received research and development funding from the ONR in 2004, and current field testing shows incredible promise.

Bill MacArthur is ex-military special operations and is currently working as a consultant for a private security firm in the United States. He loves the great outdoors, and spends his free time at his cottage retreat. Every so often, he writes an article for http://www.thebinocularsite.com – an excellent online resource for information about Binoculars, Night Vision, Rangefinders and more.

Gadgets Articles

Progressive Scan DVD Players

By Roger Sanchez

You've probably heard about progressive scan DVD players, but you may not know what exactly they are or why they seem to be the hot item that people want these days. To understand why this is the case, first you need to learn about the different technology that progressive scan DVD players provide. And then you'll need to realize that at the moment, only those who have invested in HDTV or other high performance display screens or projectors will be able to take advantage of the difference.

To start with, let's review the way that traditional motion pictures are created. In fact, the term 'motion picture' is rather misleading because no pictures actually move. Instead, still pictures, also called frames, are played in rapid succession so that the resulting display is changing so quickly and in such small amounts at a time that we perceive it as moving. You may have recreated this illusion in school or on your own by drawing stick figures or other pictures on a stack of paper, then flipped through the paper quickly. The figures looked like they were moving rather jerkily. But if you took the time to draw enough frames and move them quickly enough, you would see much smoother motion, like in cartoons.

Television is recorded in the same type of frames. Then it's broken down to be transmitted in a signal. When the signal is received by your television, it is reassembled in sections, or stripes. These stripes are reassembled in two different sets, from top to bottom and left to right across your television screen. To explain this concept more clearly, imagine window blinds that are partly open. The actual blind pieces are one set of stripes and the space between the stripes represents the second half of stripes. In a TV transmission, the stripes of set one are laid in before the second set is laid in. This is called an interlaced display. Although it sounds like it would take some time, all of this happens in the fraction of a second – 60 of the fields or stripes are displayed per second.

DVD players and DVDs have used this same technology because of the fact that TVs displayed pictures this way. But with the advent of digital and high definition television projectors, display technology has changed, leading the way for DVD technology to change as well. These high performance TVs and projector screens receive and display signals in full progressive frames instead of stripes. And 60 full frames are displayed per second. Meaning even more detail can be included in the same amount of time, resulting in pictures with less flicker or picture distortions. Progressive scan DVD players work by sending DVD signals in the same progressive format.

However, progressive scan DVD players only make a difference if they have both the source material that can be scanned into progressive signals and the display screen that can receive progressive signals. Older DVDs were most likely not recorded with progressive signals. Newer ones will have the capability, though. But as mentioned before, you have to have a television that can receive progressive signals. HDTV televisions can, and so can CRT or LCD monitors.

If you have the right kind of television, a progressive scan DVD player, and a DVD that was produced in the last 5 years or so, you can test to see if you can tell an improvement. Just switch the DVD playing setup from progressive to normal as you watch the film. Look at the outline of things, and the details of the background elements. You may just experience home video with a clarity and sharpness like never before.

Roger Sanchez reviews portable DVD players brands and models at http://www.AllPortableDvdPlayers.com - a complete portable DVD players guide where you can find tips and tricks on how to shop for a portable DVD player.
Gadgets Articles

Fax Machines Guide-Some guidelines about Fax Machines

by: Anuj Sharma

A telecommunication tool that sends and receives documents or graphics via telephone lines is known as ‘fax machine’. Fax machine is basically a package of image scanner, a modem and a computer printer. Scanner is used to convert the content of physical documents into digital image whereas modem sends image data via phone line and printer is used to make a duplicate of original document.

Sometimes fax machines are used to scan documents into a computer and to take a print of documents from computer. Fax machines converts a picture into zeros and ones format so that data can be easily transmitted like normal computer data while on the other side it reads the data and translates zeros and ones back into dots and reprints the picture.

Fax machines are affordable and easy to use devices. Fax machines transmit data at speed from 4,800 bps to 28,800 bps. Fax machines with a speed of 9,600 bps transmit one page within 10-20 seconds. Several fax machines use thermal printer that needs special paper to print the best pictures. Thermal paper mostly comes in two sizes such as 8.5 inches wide and 10.1 inches wide.

Some fax machines come with vast variety of dialing features. It enables you to set a program to send a document at future time. Another important feature of fax machine is that you can send multi page document without feeding each and every page manually in the machine.

Latest fax machines are a bit faster than the old ones. You should determine quality, price and other important features at the time of purchasing a fax machine. You can select ‘fax modem’ in case you want to send faxes but not receive them. Choice of fax machines depends on your requirements.

About The Author

Anuj Sharma owns a website on Fax Machines http://www.123faxmachines.com/.
