Yesterday Firebird 2.1.3 was made public. As with all maintenance releases its focus is stability. A number of bugs are fixed and it is a recommended update for everyone using older versions of the 2.1 series.

Default authentication method changed
The Release Notes is quick to warn about a change that may break current setups: The default authentication method changed from mixed to native. In practice this means that before 2.1.3 you could use both firebird’s native authentication and windows authentication out of the box.
From now on you have to explicitly tell Firebird that you wish to use windows authentication. Simply change the firebird.conf configuration file to:

Authentication = mixed

To Download Clickhere

Read More>

Windows Live

New web activities: 20 new third-party feed partners were added to Windows Live including Facebook, Digg, and SmugMug. MySpace will also be added in the coming months, so that MySpace customers can share activities and updates from MySpace to people in their Windows Live network.

By adding new feed partners to Windows Live, it’s easier for you to connect your activities various blogging sites, social networks and photo sharing sites and share them with your friends in your Windows Live network. This update will make it easier for the 500 Million users who are active on Windows live today to connect their activities on these partner sites and share them with their friends on Windows Live.

For instance, when you add the Facebook web activity – any photo, video, note or status update you make on Facebook will now appear on Windows Live via your What’s New feed. When you add Digg, any article you “digg” or submit to Digg, will now appear on Windows Live via your What’s New feed. Since Windows Live is global, it’s interesting to note that fourteen of the 20 new feed partners are headquartered in countries outside of the United States. According to Comscore, Hyves is the top social network in the Netherlands, and Metroflog is a top social network in Argentina.
There are quite a few partner web activities you can add today! Check them out by going to your Windows Live Profile and choosing “Web activities” in the lower left-hand corner of your profile
Add new contacts to Windows Live: MySpace, hi5, and Tagged join Facebook and LinkedIn as contact partners on Windows Live. Now you can exchange contacts between Windows Live and these five social networks and vice versa.

Messenger has come to Hotmail: Now you can IM through the web via Windows Live Hotmail. You can sign-in to Windows Live Messenger directly from within Hotmail and exchange IMs with your Messenger contacts.

If you are ever on a PC that doesn’t have Windows Live Messenger installed, just go to your Hotmail inbox and sign in to Messenger there to chat with your contacts. Once you sign-in, you can browse your contacts via your People page. If you are signed in to Messenger while checking your Hotmail and a contact sends you an IM, a toast will pop up in the lower right-hand corner of the page just as it does on a PC. For more details on Web IM in Windows Live Hotmail – see this blog post from Antonia on the Windows Live Team Blog.
Arrange your Photos in Windows Live SkyDrive: I blogged about this last week. Windows Live SkyDrive now allows you to arrange your photos in any order you want (thanks to Silverlight).

In one of your Photos folders on SkyDrive just click “Sort” and choose “Arrange photos”.
Photos of you: A new entry point has been added to Windows Live Profile pages called “Photos of you”. Essentially, this new link will take you to a page of photos tagged with a specific person (or yourself). It’s a great way to see all the photos your friends appear in or photos you appear in.

SkyDrive takes your Favorites: All your Favorites from favorites.live.com are now automatically moved to SkyDrive where you can use Windows Live Toolbar to sync your Favorites with Internet Explorer on your PCs.
And the Windows Live Sync website has now been integrated with the new Windows Live UI we launched with this last fall.
 The new Windows Live Sync website makes a huge difference in managing your personal and shared folders and managing the PCs you are syncing them with.
Enjoy the improvements to Windows Live!

Logitec LIC-iREC03P iPhone Recorder

If you need to capture good quality professional audio on the move then the Logitech LIC-iREC03P microphone recorder module could be the perfect accessory to do just that using your iPhone. Its most recent product is called Jalou, which is a mobile phone designed by the Italian luxury fashion house “Dolce & Gabbana” as part of an exclusive agreement.
The design of this phone is unconventional in a supreme manner. This gadget will be one of the most stylish items included in the Sony Ericsson catalog and, apparently, it is not intended to be just a simple phone: It looks like a fashion accessory.
Main features of the Sony Ericsson Jalou (clamshell) include:
* A built-in 3.2-megapixel camera
* Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity
* FM radio tuner
* A multimedia player
* 2-inch screen
* Tri-band HSPA (High-Speed Packet Access) capability
* Quad band GSM
* Video recorder
* And, believe it or not, a built-in mirror
The earphones that comes with the Sony Ericsson Jalou have a beautiful design. They are a sample of the great style and good taste that Dolce & Gabbana owns. No doubt, this is a cool device for fashionistas.
At this time, there is not official information about the price of this phone, or when it will be available in the stores, or what countries will be the first ones where it will be launched. So, here in MyDDNetwork, we will be alert for news related to the upcoming launch.
The Redmond company announced to the whole world the Zune HD would be available in United States on September 15, 2009. It is not a surprise because, anyway, September was always the expected month for this launch.
The Harmony adapter can be perfectly integrated with your multimedia game console or, more exactly, with your PlayStation 3. This is a cool novelty because, until a few days ago, the Harmony remote control didn’t work for the Sony console since it was not able to “understand” the commands supported by the PlayStation 3 console. However, now it acknowledges the whole set of 51 PS3 commands. So, if you are one of the lucky gamers who are going to use this adapter, then you will be able to control DVD or Blu-Ray Disc movies, browse the XrossMediaBar (XMB) interface, and turn on / turn off the console without the need of using the switch included on it.

Sony has revealed an innovative kind of lithium ion rechargeable batteries. As a cathode these futuristic batteries use Olivine type Lithium Iron Phosphate that makes them capable to last longer while still demonstrating high power. These useful batteries are able to be charged faster so you might not be scared anymore that your trendy gadgets will rapidly go flat.

These smart batteries feature power density of 1800 W / kg while their operation is enlarged and offer 80 percent capacity retention after 2000 work cycles. The operating time is enlarged for more than 4 times and you need not spend a lot of time charging them as 30 minutes is enough to fully charge them. These batteries offer powerful performance even on rugged temperature conditions.

Sony’s innovative rechargeable batteries are expected to be available in July so be ready for easy charging of your portable devices. Energy density is 95 Wh / kg while a battery weight amounts to 40 g. The Sony’s new battery measures 65 mm in height and 18 mm in diameter. These intelligent batteries are rated to be greener as the recharging time is reduced while operation is increased. Now you can easily keep your gadgets well charged with no trouble at all.

Solar-powered Leaf phone to charge on the move

If you are a wearable cell phones aficionado, you will be charmed with this ecologically green phone. Named the Leaf Phone, this high tech gadget is designed to be worn as a wrist watch while harnessing the solar power. This ultra portable cell phone concept is constructed from special layers of material that is flexible enough to be turned into a glamorous bracelet.

However, this fashionable cell phone does not include a lot of features boasting just regular calling and texting abilities. But would it be a trouble for a user taking into consideration its sustainable operation. Designed by Seungkyn and Junyi Heo, the Leaf Phone comes equipped with solar cells on the frontal panel of the phone for capturing solar energy.

Wearing this cell phone allows the user to charge it on the move. In addition to it, you will be able to charge it through its dock that you can connect to start recharging meaning you will not be limited by the sun capacity keeping your battery operating all the time. So stay tuned with this smart Leaf Phone while not polluting the environment.

As we were thinking, Zune HD is not going to get way that easily with stealing iPod Touch's sales. Here is the most important news at the moment: first, next gen iPod Touch is going to have a camera. Second, guys from Apple are working on a replacement for Cover Flow. The new user interface will be called "Cocktail".

Apple was always capable of introducing new and exiting features to its products is a well-known fact. However, Cocktail UI and camera is not enough to rise above Zune HD as many people on Web conclude. Even Apple fanboys admit that a camera on a PMP, even a top range one, is a bit odd. As for me, it looks like they were desperate to think of something else, if Touch needs something else at all. Anyway, more on that from officials is expected next month.
Search for the Gadget You Need in the Store

iHome iP88G Dual Dock unleashed

With several multi-tasking devices, here’s yet another dual purpose device. The latest dock from iHome is capable of charging both the iPhone and the iPod, simultaneously. The iHome dock also known as the iP88G dual dock features a clock radio for iPhone & iPod.
The dock packages some of the unique features like a full function remote control with menu navigation, eight digital AM/FM presets, EQ controls, and even 3D sound for an enhanced audio experience. The Sansa Fuze from SanDisk, is a cool little MP3/4 player along the same vein as the iPod Nano. We’ve recently been sent one to play with so here are our thoughts and findings (or a review so to speak).
Aesthetically the Fuze is a cute little player.The physical UI consists of a rotating front dial which also acts as the 4 navigation buttons with the center button for selection. The display crisp with a resolution of 220 x 176, large enough for watching the odd music video but you wouldn’t want to watch a feature length film on it. Sound quality was good (though as with just about any MP3 player the supplied headphones aren’t the greatest). What most impressed me about the Fuze are the extra features that you don’t find on other (note iPod) players, including:

Built in microphone

FM radio

microSD Slot, a really cheap way to expand the capacity

Easy to transfer files (drag and drop) without the need of propriety software

Though there are a few downsides:

Propriety USB connection, it obviously comes the cable but a standard mini USB connection would be much more convenient especially for charging

You bookmark videos but not audio books

The Fuze comes in 2, 4 and 8GB versions with prices starting from ~$70 at Amazon.
Nokia N79 is among the S60 Nokia series which have been available now for quite some time. Although some of the features from the older model have been retained in Nokia N79, there are a number of new and improved features which have been integrated; giving it a high-end touch. The gadget is run by the third edition of the Symbian S60 service pack 2. As a result, there are a number of things that are similar with the older models that run from the same operating system.

Nokia N79 has got a host of new-tech features; including a 5 megapixel, dual LED camera, a built-in wifi, GPRS, an accelerometer and a 2.4 inch sleek screen. Other integrated components include an FM radio, a Dual band UMTS or a Quad band GSM, a navigating wheel which is touch-sensitive, a head phone jack and a 1200 mAh battery. Nokia N79 has got a 4 GB microSD Memory card with it and supports additional cards of up to 8GB capacity. The phone is just for you when it comes to color themes; it has an xpress-on color covers which automatically changes from one color to another according to your favorite one.

When it comes to its face, Nokia N79 is a fashionable item; no matter the age bracket you belong. Figure out this; the gadget has a 16 million color screen sitting on top of a 2.4 inch panel. It is put a finishing touch by an earpiece, a crystal clear VGA color camera and an enveloping light sensor not to mention a well-laid alpha-numeric keypad and some hot keys. On the right side is a Nokia logo on the right side of the phone.

In normality, the phone has got a large screen, but with the coming of the iPhone, people are spoilt and may not realize it. The screen has got great readability of the fonts and the graphics are also well visible even in light. It emits some light brilliantly when its dark enabling you to see everything reasonably.

Looking at the multimedia functionality, the phone is well scoring compared to a host of other phones across the model. Nokia N79 does not have problems when it comes to connecting to devices or the network. It has a good wifi scanning and detection while the Frequency Modulator transmitter is good too. You can easily shoot your graphics and at the same time manage them using such tools as folders with great flexibility. Nokia is a definite worth to your bucks.

Lenovo(IBM) ThinkPad X41 Tablet

If you want to transform your normal keyboard with 101/102 keys into a multimedia keyboard, Keyboard Tweaker is just the right application for you. Basically, it is a Hotkeys manager i.e. with the help of certain sets of keyboard keys combinations you can perform various functions. Those functions can be changing speaker volume up/down, opening calculator, paint, solitaire, notepad or any other executables files located on the hard drive. Not only this, you can also open your email clients, access any websites, local paths or hide/show any particular application. Continue reading ‘Keyboard Tweaker transforms Normal Keyboard into Multimedia Keyboard’

LG rolls out Monitor TV Series in India

LG has added a new feather to its cap with the latest range of television sets that claims to offer dual entertainment.
