Samsung to Acquire LoopPay

Samsung Electronics Co. announced that it has agreed to acquire LoopPay. The acquisition confirms earlier rumors that suggested the two were working closely together on an upcoming project, and suggests Samsung could make use of LoopPay’s technology to offer its own Apple Pay competitor on future devices.

LoopPay's technology allows mobile payments through traditional magnetic credit card readers. That means it can theoretically work in a lot more places than Apple Pay, which requires special payment pads to work. Instead of using NFC connectivity like most other mobile payment services including Apple Pay, LoopPay relies on the magnetic strip reader terminals at retail store checkout lines. On March 1 at MWC, Samsung is set to launch its 2015 flagship Android Smartphone, when we expect to see a Samsung Galaxy S6 unveiling. It’s possible that tech developed in tandem with LoopPay will make an appearance with new Smartphone hardware, though the fruits of this new union also might not be ready for launch just yet.

On AnTuTu NVIDIA Tegra X1 SoC scores 74,977

During the CES in Las Vegas, NVIDIA announced its latest processor, the NVIDIA Tegra X1. Performance is said to double that of last year's NVIDIA Tegra K1.

NVIDIA Tegra X1 features octa-core CPU cluster, consisting of four Cortex A57 and four Cortex A53 cores with a custom CPU interconnect and cluster migration. On the GPU side, NVIDIA has turned to using its latest generation Maxwell architecture in a GPU with 256 CUDA cores. NVIDIA Tegra X1 breaks the 70,000 points barrier on AnTuTu benchmark. Last year’s NVIDIA Tegra K1 turned out to be a very powerful processor. In fact, in the single core test on GeekBench, the SoC managed a score of over 1900 points, making it the leader.

Carphone Warehouse opens HTC One M9 registration

At Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on March 1, the rumored M9 version of the HTC One is set to be unveiled.

Carphone Warehouse site has published their Pre-Registration page for the HTC One M9 before phone is even announced. The HTC One M9 will apparently feature a 5-inch 1080 x 1920 resolution screen with a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 under the hood. 3GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of native storage is expected. A 20MP snapper will adorn the back and the infamous 4MP Ultrapixel camera should grace the front of the phone. The handset will be powered by a 2840mAh cell.

Lenovo Vibe Shot with 16MP camera

Lenovo expected to unveil Vibe Shot Smartphone with 16MP camera during this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain.

The Vibe Shot will supposedly feature a polished aluminum frame, a 5-inch 1080-pixel resolution display and a 16MP camera. The camera is the best feature of this Smartphone. It will supposedly include a back-illuminated sensor for improved low-light image capture. It will also have a triple-tone flash, infrared autofocus, and optical image stabilization. It sports Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 octo-core chip, 3GB of RAM, a micro SD slot, and 32GB of expandable internal memory. It supports 4G LTE and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. The device will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Qualcomm unveils the Snapdragon 415, 425, 618, and 620 chipsets

Qualcomm announced four new Snapdragon chipsets that brings some features previously only available on the Snapdragon 800 series into the mid-tier.

The Snapdragon 620 and 618 chips offer integrated 64-bit ARM A-72 CPUs, in addition to the new X8 LTE modem. Features like these were previously only available in the high-end Snapdragon 800 level processors. Qualcomm says that devices with these chipsets will be capable of 4k video recording and playback, as well as dual ISP camera capabilities. The Snapdragon 415 and 425 are both based on the ARMv8 architecture, which means that they are 64-bit - nice one, Qualcomm. Both of these chipsets come with two image signal processors (ISPs), which reportedly pave the way for better camera performance. The Snapdragon 415 and 425 ship with an Adreno 405 GPU. It supports display output of up to 1200 x 1920 pixels, allows hardware decoding of 1080p videos, and boasts support for DirectX 11.2 Qualcomm says the Snapdragon 415 will be inside phones during the first half of 2015, while the Snapdragon 620, 618, and 425 will ship during the second half of the year.

Approved By Wi-Fi Alliance Android 5.0 Lollipop Firmware for Xperia Z3

The Sony Xperia Z3 has been certified by the Alliance as being ready-to-go and it could well be the update to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

It was certified on February 16, but we still don't know the exact date of the rollout. Luckily, this won't take long; it's just a matter of days before the update becomes officially available.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Spotted On Geekbench

After appeared on the AnTuTu benchmarks, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge handset has turned up on GeekBench.

The Galaxy S6 Edge notched up a score of 1,495 points in the GeekBench single-core test. Then, in multi-core test, which puts the 64-bit Exynos 7420 and all eight cores to the test, the phone received a score of 5,375. Other specifications on the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge will include a cureved 5.1 inch display which will have a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The handset is also rumored to feature a 5 megapixel front facing camera and a 20 megapixel rear camera, plus it will come with a range of storage options from 32GB to 128GB.

Overview

The Dell XPS 13 is a 13-inch notebook that features a 13-inch display with a chassis size of an 11-inch notebook. It is one of the best and ranked as finalist in CES 2015 Annual Event. The XPS 13 designed with a smooth metal exterior, where at the bottom has a metal plate to cover up all the required FCC fine print, and on the inside, features a soft carbon fibre finish that stretches across the keyboard deck along the way from the centre to the palm rest. Design

Dell designed the XPS 13 as thin, light and smallest notebook, with a 13-inch in size and a compact footprint of 11.98 x 7.88 x 0.33-0.6 inches. With this, the Dell XPS 13 will also consider as an 11-inch notebook. The XPS 13 have about a half-inch border around the screen that makes the display very wide. The notebook only weighs 2.8 pounds. The keyboard is designed for a better typing experience that helps the user type in a fast way. With the Dells reversed function row, the user does not have to press the Fn button for the volume, brightness and keyboard backlight adjustments. The touchpad measures 4.1 x 2.3 inches which is big enough to XPS 13 and make it feels as a full-sized layout and works well also in Windows 8.1 gestures. In addition, XPS 13 has a two side mounted speaker, a webcam that is located at the lower left corner of the XPS 13, it also has an additional SD card slot, and a small indicator light in the left side that indicates the battery life.

Display

When it comes to display, laptops, Ultrabook, notebook, name it, the display plays a big deal to the users too. Dell XPS 13's Quad-HD (3200 x 1800-pixel) display provides an accurate and charismatic screen display. It features IPS Gorilla Glass screen that gives wide viewing angles. Moreover, the audio of XPS 13 is pretty exciting; with a two side mounted speakers it does delivered a strong audio of about 94 decibels. The ports and the additional SD card slot also feel XPS 13 accessible.

AT&T GoPhone adds unlimited calling

AT&T's prepaid GoPhone service now gives you much more data.

Starting February 20, AT&T GoPhone subscribers paying $45 a month for the 1GB data plan will actually receive 1.5GB of high-speed data. Those paying $60 a month for the 2.5GB data plan will be given 4GB of high-speed data. Those with the $60 plan will also be allowed to make unlimited calls to Mexico. GoPhone subscribers get unlimited talk, text and data. But once they exceed a certain high-speed data cap, they are throttled down to 128Kbps for the remainder of the month.

BenQ F52 Launches at MWC 2015

BenQ is planning on making an announcement at MWC 2015 in Barcelona and launch their flagship Smartphone.

BenQ F52 will be equipped with a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, an Adreno 430 graphics processing unit, 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. It also supports LTE Cat 9 (450Mbps), among other connectivity options. The Smartphone will also pack microSD card slot for memory expansion, as well as a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution. On the back, the F52 will boast a 13-megapixel camera with Sony IMX214 module sensor, while in the front there will be an 8-megapixel camera for perfect selfies and video calls. New HTC One confirmed for March 1 launch

HTC confirmed has plans to unveil the new HTC One on March 1.

The new tweet from the HTC UK Twitter account, which focused on the tagline 'let them stare', showing another clear design push from the brand. The HTC One M9 should sport a 5-inch 1080p display, and yet it's supposed to be smaller than the One (M8). Other novelties that the One M9 should bring are a 20 MP rear camera, an octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor, and Android Lollipop with Sense 7 UI. On Geekbench Nexus 5 spotted running Android 5.1

LG Nexus 5 spotted running Android 5.1 in a benchmark.

Google revealed that several new devices launching in the Philippines would ship with the new operating system, but the rollout plan for the rest of the world was still unknown. The phone scored a 2997, which is just slightly north of the where the same model scored on Android 5.0 The update is supposed to bring back the silent mode that was taken away in Android 5.0. Other changes expected include an improved battery life, better RAM management, and improvements in system stability. Issues with 'Okay Google' are removed as are problems with notifications.

ASUS has introduced a new slate that features a 7-inch Fonepad 7.

The device is powered by a quad-core Intel Atom Z3530 processor clocked at 1.3 GHz, and sports a 7-inch IPS display with 800 x 1200 pixels. VLC 3.0 Will Feature Chromecast Support

VLC 3.0 finally getting Chromecast support in version soon.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about VLC getting Chromecast support, as the first hints about the addition hit back in June of last year. The popular media player app recently came out of beta in the Play Store, but was promptly removed, and is now lurking somewhere in the shadows, apparently waiting for the big upgrade straight to VLC 3.0. Android 5.0.1 Lollipop Now Rolling Out to Samsung Galaxy Note Edge In Australia

Last year’s September, Samsung had announced the Galaxy Note Edge handset during the IFA keynote in Berlin. The device had surprised many people because of its curved display on the right side which acts as a separate panel in a way. The Galaxy Note Edge ships with a 5.6-inch 2K (2560 x 1600) display together with 3GB of RAM and a 32 or 64GB of internal storage that is expandable via MicroSD card up to 128GB. The device is also powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 805 quad-core processor clocked at 2.7GHz and comes with an Adreno 420 GPU for graphics processing.

The handset has 16-megapixel OIS camera which is located at the back of the device while there is also a 3.7-megapixel shooter that inlcude up front. Last week, the Europe had just received the Android Lollipop for the Galaxy Note 4 and now it’s time for the Galaxy Note Edge. Samsung Announce Exynos 7 Built in 14nm Process: Reports

Reports says that Samsung’s flagship processor confirms the new Exynos 7 has been in mass produced and has moved to the new smaller die size “14nm” compared with the recent 20nm size where being used in the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Samsung Galaxy Alpha. Samsung are planning on applying their new 3D chip construction technology to other types of product such as memory chips, which should also improve performance and reduce power consumption.

Since reducing of physical component size means manufacturers can either reduce the size or thickness of the device and reduce of power consumption of the chip may have a smaller amount of voltage or electricity needed to power consumption and the reduce of power consumption means reduces the heat which is important. However, the announcement of Samsung did not really state that Exynos 7 processor family will be coming in Galaxy S6 family devices.

Design

The iPhone 6 is a 4.7inches phone and designed as flat, thin, bold and different but more like the design of the 2012 iPod Touch or the recent iPads. It has a body dimension of 138.1 x 67 x 6.9 mm and weighs 129g. It features a fingerprint sensor and Apple Pay. It has a spacious screen, a curved design and the glass from the front folds ever so slightly around the edges. The volume buttons are now elongated like those on the iPod Touch and iPad. The phone deals with upgrades like the power button is now located at the right side. The battery life is now longer compared to other iPhones and the Touch ID home button remains at the bottom and it works more accurate and better.

The iPhone 6 has a great display. It is a 4.7 inch phone that offers 1334x750 resolution and still in 326ppi. It offers LED-backlit IPS LCD, capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors, shatter proof glass, oleophobic coating and a display zoom. One of the upgrades that iPhone have is the improved contrast ratio which is really something to observe and the colour reproduction that very impressive too. However, the screen cannot increase the size, resolution, color reproduction, and the power efficiency. The new phone also brings a better keyboard with a wider key spread and easy to use. The iPhone interface is clean, clear and simple.

Functionality

When it comes to functionality, the performance of the iPhone 6 is still faster. It has impressive features like reachability, quick contact access and interactive notifications. The iPhone 6 is powered by a 1.39GHz dual-core A8 processor with 64-bit architecture and 1GB of RAM. Google's Android One arriving in the Philippines!

Welcome to the Philippines, Google is now arrive for the first time – the Android One, tied with the local mobile brands, the Cherry Mobile and MyPhone. The smartphones comes in the form of Cherry Mobile One and the MyPhone Uno, will go on sale in coming weeks, offering an affordable price comes in the latest version of Android (Lollipop) – as the fastest, most responsive Android experience to date.

Both of these new Android One smartphones will come with the same specifications which include a 4.5 inch LCD display with a FWVGA resolution of 854 x 480 pixels. Google's new material design look and feel and quick settings to conserve data. And these phones have great hardware features, including 2 MP front and 5MP rear facing cameras, dual SIM slots and microSD card slot for additional storage.

Processing comes in the form of a quad core MediaTek MT6582 processor and there is also 1GB of RAM, for storage the Uno comes with 4GB and the Cherry 8GB. Other specifications on these new Android One devices include 3G, dual SIM cars slots, a microSD card slot for expansion and a 1700 mAh battery.

The Philippines is recent country that Google’s Android One has launched in and to be the sixth place in the row. Both devices will be available in the country shortly.
