Floating Hotel Concept

2012-09-08T14:28:00.003-07:00

Welcome back to Galactic Astrodub!

Today I stumbled across a new concept for a stationary cruise ship (floating hotel) which I'm sure will amaze you. Imagine waking up in open ocean on this beautiful vessel.

Landing On Mars! (2 Days Away)

2012-08-03T13:11:00.000-07:00

Welcome back to Galactic Astrodub!

Right now we are 2 short days away from infinite intergalactic amazement as the Mars Rover will be touching down. This could possibly lead to alien life-forms and recently the discovery of methane coming from the red planet was used to prove that it is still a living planet. From vast oceans of floating water to . There will be a couple of live feeds so you can actually get a first person play by play with your own eyes at this link starting Sunday, Aug 5th. The actual touchdown of the rover is known as the 7 minutes of terror because there's a million things that could go wrong. Neil Degrasse Tyson calculated some pretty interesting Olympic facts that would happen on the surface of Mars. I can't wait to see what we discover and I hope you'll be there to join humanity on what could be a number of colossal discoveries. Just think that we will have a live feed on this.

We Stopped Dreaming (Ep.2) Neil Degrasse Tyson

2012-07-16T14:58:00.001-07:00

Welcome back to Galactic Astrodub!

Neil Degrasse Tyson is personally the most motivating man that walks the universe, he discusses space, water and clouds like I've never heard and completely takes your mind from the box it sits in, and places it on the outside of that box; in one with no boundaries. The space frontier brings nations together in unity; it's a challenge which each nation wants to get that much closer to solving the common goal of curiosity. Space is a $300,000,000,000.00 (three-hundred billion) industry worldwide and NASA builds up only a tiny percent of that; but that small percent is what builds dreams and inspiration to think apart from what we know.
"We went to the moon and we discovered earth"

Penny4NASA.org is a online donation and petition site to save NASA. Everyone needs to dream at some point; that's how new ideas and progression is made; NASA represents dreaming and without that people will struggle to stray from the path and to watch someone push the space frontier in a progressive direction is exactly what we need. Sign the free petition or donate. Thanks, Easy

Inflatable Water Park!

2012-07-11T14:34:00.000-07:00

Welcome back to Galactic Astrodub!

Today I stumbled across an inflatable water park which consists of multiple trampolines, a climbing wall, platform to jump off, rope swings along with multiple obstacles. I can't even begin to share my level of amazement that this exists. I'm a big fan of obstacle game shows where contestants need to get through a course full of dangerous things just to end up wiping out and possibly getting injured. Having this obstacle course set up on a secluded lake would be endless entertainment and a dream come true.

God Particle Discovered! (Higgs Boson Theory Explained)

2012-07-04T13:08:00.000-07:00

CERN has explained that after many false starts and interuptions, it has finally found proof of the "God Particle," (aka Higgs Boson). It's being hailed as the most significant scientific discovery in our generation. If your confused as to what the "God Particle" is than watch this informative video as it could be very useful.

Most Amazing Space Facts!

2012-06-24T13:50:00.000-07:00

Welcome back to Galactic Astrodub! Today I bring you the natural wonders of space.

It's normal to think as space as boring, the planets in our solar system appear to be empty rocks or balls of gas; you'll find a whole lot of nothing before you get to the next star while in the meantime Hollywood is making it seem like there's monsters and aliens that probe. When the real space is actually much; much weirder.

1. One of the universe biggest showoff actually used to be a star, it started off life as one of two parts of a binary star. The larger twin made like an atom bomb and supernova-ed. What was left behind was just a pulsating star (Pulsar) and a white dwarf. The dwarf stabilized just far enough away from its brother to lose matter to it but kept it's carbon core. Carbon is a ton of heat and pressure away from becoming a diamond. On Earth this happens naturally with underground pressure. In this particular spot in space the conditions were just right for the entire interior of the former star to harden, crystallize and turn into a planet sized gem.

2. Scientists have found a huge pool of water floating freely out in the cosmos. This massive reservoir of floating space water vapor is the biggest collection of water in our galaxy. It's 100,000 times larger than the sun and holds 140 trillion times more water than all of our oceans combined.

3. For a while scientists have known that lightning isn't unique to Earth because they've observed lightning on Mars and Saturn. What they didn't know is that lightning can hit anywhere in space with a force equal to a trillion lightning bolts. Imagine a bolt of lightning 50% longer than the milky way galaxy.

4. One of the very first lessons you learned about the cosmos in school was that the sun is hot. The surface of the sun is about 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit, and several thousand times hotter at the core. Recently scientists discovered that not every sun is hot. They found one that is 20 degrees hotter than a cup of coffee and even weirder they found one that is only 80 degrees Fahrenheit, meaning we could land on it in space helmet and shorts. It's known as a brown dwarf and these little guys begin their lives like a normal star but lack the mass to undergo hydrogen fusion, which releases energy from a star in the form of heat.

5. One of the most difficult parts about space is grasping the sense of scale since it really is so unique we see something that size in its entirety. Our sun is 109 times larger than earth and if you gathered all the mass in our solar system; the sun would still contain 99% of that mass. Now imagine a star that is as big compared to the sun as the sun is to the Earth. It is almost impossible to show the scale because the solar system wouldn't even take up a pixel next to this sun. VY Canis Majoris is a red hypergiant roughly 1.7 billion miles in diameter which means it takes eight hours for its own light to travel from one side to the other. It's also a million times brighter than our sun and it's so far away that scientists haven't had much time to study it.

6. We used to be taught that we were a form of time travelers. We're told that the sunlight all around us is from over eight minutes ago, and by glancing up at the sky we are viewing the past. Telescopes have continually progressed and with progression comes new data and images; and their getting stranger and stranger. The random blob floating around space is made up of gas (we think). The galactic gas cluster spans across 200 million light years; and it took nearly 12 billion years to reach our retinas, meaning that it is essentially a chunk of whatever blew off from the big bang. Inside this gas bubble lays galaxies that are clumped together, four times closer than the rest of the universe.

I hope you all enjoyed the read!

Motivation!

2012-06-23T12:24:00.001-07:00

Oz Pinoy has a great, unique perspective on life; Your mind is like a fertile garden, whatever you think is what you plant in it; what you think is what you are and if you don't maintain the garden it will start to grow weeds (negativity) so you must fertilize the positive thoughts with sunshine and water and food (positive friends). He also mentions that the mind will sub conciously eavesdrop on actions and words that you make so thinking positively only goes so far; you also need to act and be positive and then you will start to fertilize your goal.
Remember to think positively!

Easter Island Mystery Cracked + 2 New Planets!

2012-06-22T12:08:00.002-07:00

Hello and welcome back to Galactic Astrodub!

Scientists have discovered 2 new planets with NASA's Kepler Mission. Each planet shares nothing with the other as densities and compositions are completely different and are locked in close orbit so the other planet would appear much bigger than the moon appears to us (would make for one hell of a sunset). One of the planets is rocky and about 1.5x the size of earth while the other is a lot like Neptune and is consisted of gas and is 3.7x the size of earth located 1,200 light years away.

Scientists have recently figured out how the statues of Easter Island actually got to the coast.. Turns out they walked.

Amazing Space Chart!

2012-06-21T12:07:00.000-07:00

Welcome back to Galactic Astrodub & Happy Go Skateboarding Day!

This chart always opens my eyes to possibilities of other life in this galaxy or possible other homes for earthly residents. We only have discovered and really researched a fraction of planets in our solar system; to think that we know of the existence but not the enviroment to each. With better telescopes that will change.

Thanks

The Most Astounding Fact (Neil Degrasse Tyson)

2012-06-20T11:00:00.001-07:00

Welcome back to Galactic Astrodub!

I find Neil Degrasse Tyson to be one of the most inspiring and influential speakers I've ever had the chance to listen to. I am a graphic designer and art is about portraying emotion; in this case Neil's art is his intellect and ever expanding mind and in this video he definitely portrays emotion about how connected to the universe we truly are.

Whether you're bored or baked you came to either check out some AstroDub or show you're support, and both are appreciated! I hope everyone survived the weekend and shared good times; I celebrated a couple friends birthdays on different nights so I can't remember too much, but I find that after a hard rowdy weekend all I want to do is kick back and relax.

Here's a quick trailer for my favorite Space Documentary "Journey to the Edge of the Universe". I have watched this time and time again, it never ceases to amaze me!

I apologize for the cheezy title but I feel refreshed to be back on the blogs after 3 days of internet problems and copious amounts of snowfall. As Vancouver is getting hit with some of the coldest weather we've seen in 50 years but as long as I have coffee/hot chocolate, blunts/swishers and music I should be alright, if you guys have a usual winter tradition other than Christmas let me know, i need all the help i can get to keep warm. Thanks for your support everyone! Stay Warm!

Top 5 Future Tech & Gadgets

2010-11-18T21:44:00.000-08:00

My last video received 39 comments and it shows that I have a trustworthy group of supporters! In return I wanted to share some future gadgets that I'm sure will keep you entertained. Enjoy and Thanks!

5) Transparent Toaster - Maximix is preparing to release a see-through toaster, this concept uses special heating glass to toast a slice of bread. Unfortunately the glass is unable to reach the heat to actually "cook" toast. You will be able to adjust the specific heat and therefor it's nearly impossible to burn toast!

(4) Curved iMac Concept - With it's disctictive curved widescreen the iVision takes the normal flatscreen entertainment and curves it for maximum enjoyment.

3) Optimus Tactus Keyboard
This keyboard is going to revolutionize the entertainment world as we know it. With the LCD touch tablet display this will make music production, video editing, and photo viewing to the next level.

2) Urinal Video Game System - "On Target" Pressure sensitive display, you play games while keeping the washroom clean and sanitized. Imagine pissing out a video game simulated fire.

1) Heliodisplay M2i - Holographic Desktop navigation. virtual touchscreen with cursor control. The first ever shatterproof monitor. This is the future!
