Starburst ROM + 1.4Ghz Overclock = Super Galaxy Tab 10.1 [2800+ on Quadrant]

Couple days ago I made it my goal to have the best and fastest ROM and kernels running on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 and I think I may have achieve my goals so far.

With the latest version of Starburst ROM and 1.4Ghz overclocking kernel, I was able to achieve near 3000 on Quadrant benchmarking, which tests your Tab 10.1′s CPU, Disk I/O, and graphic processing speeds.

That’s quite good I think as stock Tab 10.1 gets near 1800 to 2200 on Quadrant, that’s almost near 50% improvement in speed of my Galaxy Tab 10.1 (Take that iPad 2, jabbing at Steve Jobs)

StarBurst ROM for Galaxy Tab 10.1!

I just played with Starburst ROM all night long last night and I have to say this is probably the best and fastest ROM for the Galaxy Tab 10.1. It’s based on the latest TouchWiz UX ROM minus the bloatware and speed additions.

My browser used to lag when I had Google Music on and browsed Facebook desktop version but after installing this ROM, all of the lag is completely gone. I’ve also gotten speeds near 2200 on Quadrant, which is much better than stock.

Download ROM here:

Touchwiz UX ROM for Galaxy Tab 10.1!

For those of you who want to try out the new Touchwiz UX ROM for the Galaxy Tab 10.1, you don’t have to unroot device then apply the OTA update because there’s already a rooted Touchwiz UX ROM I have been enjoying for weeks already. If you have a rooted Tab 10.1, my advice is always wait and install a rooted version of the latest OTA update as it WILL be available.

I actually installed this ROM without knowing this was the actual OTA update but I guess some developers got hands on it weeks before.

You can download the ROM here:

Basically the steps are pretty simple as follows:

1. Download the desired ROM you want to install and copy over to the internal storage of your Tab 10.1

2. Reboot by holding down Volume down button and Power button together and let go when you see Android logo.

3. Hit Volume down button then Volume up button to enter into ClockworkMod Recovery.

4. Choose “Wipe/Factory Reset” then hit the Power button.

5. Choose &#

(that’s dual-core overclocking! each 1Ghz processor overclocked to 1.4Ghz)

The result? Not too shabby, my Galaxy Tab 10.1 went from 50ish scores on Linkpack to near 80MFLOPs. That’s about 60% increase in the Tab 10.1′s speed.

As far as battery life, with SetCPU app set on “ondemand”, it only uses 1.4Ghz when you are using CPU-intensive games.

How to Backup/Restore ROM on Galaxy Tab 10.1 Using ROM Manager App!

*Note – This should also work on any other Galaxy Tab versions so long as you have ROM Manager app installed, rooted, and ClockworkMod Recovery flashed.

For those of you Ubuntu lovers out there, if you did pick up a Galaxy Tab 10.1, did you know you can run a Ubuntu OS running side by side along with your Android tablet?

Well, this has been done many times on other Android smartphones before but certainly the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is a perfect device to put Ubuntu, let me introduce you to “Tabuntu”.

Why root Galaxy Tab 10.1 Android Tablet?
People always ask me, “why do you have to root your Galaxy Tab 10.1?”

Well, simply, you can do more with a rooted Galaxy Tab 10.1 such as installing 3rd party programs or being able to run Ubuntu Linux on top of it. There’s also apps like ScreenCapture app which can only run properly with a rooted tablet.

Basically, “rooting” an Android tablet device gives yo

As many of you know, the official ICS Android 4.0.4 for Galaxy Tab 10.1 was pushed out last night. For those of you who have updated, you should be good to go. For those of you on a custom ROM, here’s how to unroot/update your Galaxy Tab 10.1 (P7500 or P7510) to the official ICS.

Also you can use this method to update your Galaxy Tab 10.1 on a stock unroot/rooted ROM.

If you are on a custom ROM, please MAKE A BACKUP OF EVERYTHING ON YOUR INTERNAL STORAGE, as doing a “Factory reset” (at the end of the video) will erase all contents of your internal storage including photos and videos.

For those of you who want to install KitKat ROMs like Android 4.4.2, 4.4.3, or 4.4.4, you will need to update your CWM or TWRP recovery to CWM version 6.0.4.3 or higher OR TWRP v2.6.3.3 or higher. Otherwise the KitKat ROM will give you a status 7 error and not install.

In this video tutorial, I show you how to install KitKat ROM on Galaxy Tab 10.1 by installing the latest version of TWRP.

Pretty easy to do, here’s the files you need to download:

Looking for the latest Android 4.2.1 ROM on your Galaxy Tab 10.1?

Well, CM10.1 ROM built by Pershoot is pretty solid, I’ve heard some good things about it and it runs rather smooth for an unofficial build (although this will become official real soon).

With the latest Android 4.2.1 ROM, you will be able to turn your Tab 10.1 into a full-fledged Google Android device with support for lockscreen widgets and multi-user login just like a Nexus 7 or Nexus 10.

I still use my Tab 10.1 quite often. Even though it’s been out for awhile now, I think Tab 10.1 is still one of the best tablets ever launched on the market when you consider “when” it was launched.

Anyways, the CM10.1 ROM gives you everything you wanted to know about Android 4.2.1 with Android 4.2 camera (sorry, Photo Sphere is not included), 4.2 GMail, and some more.

The only bugs I found was random flickering when swiping through your apps but that’s not a huge deal as it doesn’t bother me too much (and should be fixed in subsequent future version).

If you haven’t tried CM10.1 yet, definitely give it a go today and let me know what you think!

To prevent rolling screens, do this:

For Tab 10.1 Wifi, make sure you flash the US bootloader via ODIN if you don’t have a U.S. version of Tab 10.1 Wifi.

For Tab 10.1 3G, make sure you flash the UK bootloader via ODIN if you don’t have a U.K. version of Tab 10.1.

Don’t know how to use ODIN? See video on this page as reference, process is exact same just different file for PDA.

Also see installation notes at bottom for other variants.

Download:

Download CM10.1 for Tab 10.1 Wifi (P4Wifi), Download US Bootloader

Download CM10.1 for Tab 10.1 3G (P4), Download UK Bootloader

Download CM10.1 for Tab 10.1 T-Mobile (P4TMO)

Download CM10.1 for Tab 10.1 Verizon (P4VZW)

Download CM10.1 for Tab 10.1v (P3)

Download Gapps 4.2.1 (Make sure you install this to get Play Store and other Google apps!!!!!!!!!!)

Installation Notes:

-For P4VZW: You must be on stock ICS (and it’s modem) before flashing to this build, for LTE functionality

-For P4WIFI UK: You must be on the US ICS bootloader (odin .tar.md5 inside the .zip in the folder), otherwise you may incur a rolling screen

-For P4: You must be on the UK ICS bootloader (odin .tar.md5 from UK inside the folder), otherwise you may incur a rolling screen.

-For P3: It is advised to be on P4′s ICS modem for best results.

-For P4*: You must be on the ICS modem for best results.
