For 31 years, Gallery Pradarshak has been that space — not just a venue for exhibitions, but a community built through art.

On this, our 31st milestone year, author, art critic and mentor at Pradarshak, Shriram Khadilkar curates Hue and You – Celebrating 31 Years in Blue — bringing together 26 artists — those who have been part of the gallery’s journey across decades, and those who join us on the journey ahead. The show offers new works created on a finite size of 16-inch x 16-inch canvases — all in response to a single visual cue: the colour blue.

But blue is not just a hue. It is as personal as memory and as shared as the sky. Each though deeply personal, forms part of a shared language of experience, moulded by trust and time. Each holds not just pigment, but presence — a living conversation between artist, colour, and time.

Gallery Pradarshak invites student artists to be part of our prestigious 27th Annual Student Art Exhibition – Vidyarthi Vishesh (Students’ Special) and gain invaluable exposure.

This year, the exhibition will be held online at www.gallerypradarshak.com from 1st August to 14th August 2025, with a select few students also getting the opportunity to showcase their work at Gallery Pradarshak, Khar West, Mumbai.

As part of our tradition of recognizing talent, two outstanding students will be awarded a Certificate and Cash Prize, continuing a 24-year legacy of excellence.

🔹 Who can participate?
Students from any visual art discipline are eligible. However, those who have completed their final academic year (G.D. Art Diploma, MFA final year) in 2025 are not eligible.

🔹 Can I submit an artwork that has been entered in another competition?
No, artworks submitted elsewhere are not permitted. If such entries are discovered, the student will be disqualified from both current and future participation.

🔹 How should I price my work?
Consider the 25% curation fee charged by the gallery while pricing your artwork. The final price will be determined by the Jury, who may adjust it upwards or downwards as necessary.

🔹 Is the participation fee refundable?
No, the fee is non-refundable regardless of selection status.

🔹 How do I send my artwork once sold?
Sold artworks should be carefully flat-packed or rolled and couriered to the gallery.

🔹 How should I mention the size of my artwork?
Always mention height first, followed by width, in inches only.

🔹 Can I submit college assignments?
No, college assignments are not accepted. If detected at any stage, even after selection, the entry will be disqualified.

🔹 If my work is selected for display at the gallery, how do I send and retrieve it?
Selected works must be framed with hooks attached for immediate display. The artist must arrange for courier delivery to the gallery by the specified date and, if unsold, ensure timely pickup after the exhibition ends.

About Vidyarthi Vishesh 2024:
Vidyarthi Vishesh is the most celebrated signature event of Gallery Pradarshak. It was instituted in 1995 and has grown by leaps and bounds with widespread participation by students across India and much love showered by the growing database of art patrons.

Featuring young student artists right from their formative years to their master’s in fine/ visual arts, the exhibition is dedicated to the exercise of initiating students into the real-world of selection and exhibition of their works of art.

"Reflections & Projections” is a meticulously curated group show that celebrates the diverse voices that have and will continue to shape the gallery's journey. Visitors can expect to encounter works by:
Trailblazers: As the name conveys constitutes the artists who began with Pradarshak and have made a mark in the field, some even reaching the auction scenarios. Pioneering artists like Sanjay Raut, Mahesh Karambele, Milburn Cherian, Umesh Patil, and Jagannath Paul who set the stage for the contemporary art scene.
Exemplary Flair: Acclaimed artists like Srinivas Mhetre and Swapnil Godase recognised for their mastery of technique and unique aesthetic vision.
Emerging Talents: Artists like Pritam Chivate, Neha Dewangan, and Pratik Risbud denote the next generation of artistic voices, showcasing their distinctive perspectives.
Prefacing Design: Designers like Ankon Mitra, Ar. Nitin Jain, Ar. Ketan Jawdekar, and Priyanka Narula, who blur the lines between art and design, pushing the boundaries of creative expression. Above all, the highlight of the exhibition is a hitherto unseen sketch by none other than India’s premier architect – Ar. Hafeez Contractor.

Curator Rahul Vajale unveils "Art Cool," a captivating group exhibition featuring a diverse array of eight visual artists, each offering a unique perspective through their artistry. From May 3rd to May 16th, visitors are invited to immerse themselves in this oasis of artistic respite.

Among the featured talents are Dhyan Bhatt - an Indian artist based in Canada, bridging continents with his vibrant wildlife portrayals. Anaushka Gonsalves utilizes shapes and forms to create thought-provoking paintings. Nandini Saha Ghosh transports viewers to the serene depths of a forest with her evocative depiction of monks receiving Lord Buddha's wisdom, while Snehal Ekbote subtly evokes distance through delicate lines.

Pooja Muthuraj captures the nuanced emotions of her subjects, while Shivani Dixit's mystical abstractions dazzle with their technical brilliance. Karan Hirawat's enigmatic photography adds a touch of intrigue, while sculptor Aatish Khobragade invites contemplation with his exploration of tower culture through sculptural forms.

Gallery Pradarshak is inviting student artists to participate in, and benefit from our renowned signature Annual Student Art Exhibition called Vidyarthi Vishesh or Students’ Special.
This year is our 26th Vidyarthi Vishesh exhibition and it will be held online on www.gallerypradarshak.com

In addition to all the art works being exhibited online, select students will get a chance to exhibit their work at the gallery’s premises - Gallery Pradarshak, at Khar West, Mumbai.

In keeping with a tradition of awards started 23 years ago, the Gallery will award two students with a Certificate and Cash Prize.

Exhibition Dates: 16th August – 31st August ’24 – Both Online & Physical Premises.

Last date of application: 30th June ‘24 (Midnight).

FAQ’S
1.     Who can participate?
Students from all visual art streams can participate. Only students who have given their final academic year exams (G. D. Art Diploma, Last year MFA) in 2024 are not eligible for participation.
2.     Can I submit an entry which is already a part of another competition or submitted for another competition?
No. This is not at all advisable. And if we find out that any such practice is being observed, we shall disqualify the student from both, present and future participation.
3.     How do I price my work?
Kindly price your work keeping in mind the 25% curation fee charged by the gallery. However, the Jury members will decide the final pricing of all works. If they find your price less, it will be increased and vice versa.
4.     Is the entry fee refundable?
No. Whether your entry is selected or not, the fees are non-refundable.
5.     How do I send my work if sold?
You can courier your work – properly packaged, either flat-packed or rolled to the gallery.
6.     How do I mention the size of my work?
Kindly mention the height of your work first and then the width - only in inches.
7.     Can I send college assignments as part of the entry?
No, we do not accept college assignments as part of entry. If found, the entry shall be rejected at any point even post selection.
8.     If my entry is selected for display at gallery, how do I send and take it back from the gallery?
If selected for display at the gallery, kindly frame your artwork and send it with hooks behind - in “ready-to-hang” condition. You can arrange a courier to drop it to the gallery by the prescribed date, and if unsold, pick it up from the gallery at the end of the exhibition.
