The hose in this application gets attached and unattached from the piping system several times a day. When the hose is unattached it is positioned in such a manner that all of the weight of the assembly puts stress on the hose itself at the end connections causing premature failure. The spring guard is installed on the outside of the hose to help eliminate stress on the hose inner core.
