Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (abbreviated as Call of Duty: MW3, CoD: MW3 or simply MW3) is an upcoming first-person shooter video game, currently being developed by Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games with Raven Software assisting in development. It will be the third installment in the Modern Warfare series, a direct sequel to 2009's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and the eighth Call of Duty installment. It is set to be released on November 8, 2011 on Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Wii, with a separate version for Nintendo DS being developed by n-Space. In Australia, the Wii version will be released on November 17, 2011.

Gameplay:

Like its predecessors, Modern Warfare 3 is a first-person shooter video game. It will run at 60 frames per second, minimum. Activision confirmed at Gamescom 2011, that Modern Warfare 3 on the PC will have dedicated servers support.

Description:

Dead Island is a first person horror action-adventure video game developed by Techland for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. It is centered on the challenge of survival on a zombie-infested open world island with a major emphasis on melee combat. It was originally announced at E3 2006,but was pushed back to 2011. It was released on September 6 in North America and will be released on September 9 elsewhere.

Plot:

The game is set in the Palms Resort, in fictional Banoi, located off the coast of Papua New Guinea. Your character wakes up after a long night of partying at the Banoi hotel, only to find the lights off and an emergency broadcast system guiding him/her out of their hotel room. Once you leave your room, you head through a hotel room to get around some luggage carts in the hall and make head out to the balcony. After looking out at the view, two zombies suddenly fall from the balcony above as your character watches. You then open a nearby elevator hatch and climb in. Just as you get in, the elevator cables snap and send the elevator flying down, stopping momentarily on a zombie-infested floor before hitting bottom. Your character recovers and hears a voice asking them if they are experiencing any health problems

Crysis 2 is an upcoming first-person shooter video game developed by Crytek and published by Electronic Arts, due for release on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 in March 2011. It is the sequel to the 2007 video game Crysis and its parallel expansion game, Crysis Warhead. The story was written by authors Richard Morgan and Peter Watts, who has also written a novel adaptation of the game. It will be the first game to showcase the CryEngine 3 game engine.

Development:

Crysis 2 was announced at E3 2009 on June 1, 2009, and has been in development since 2007. Crysis 2 is the sequel to 2007's Crysis which was lauded for its impressive visuals. German based studio Crytek Frankfurt which developed the first game is the lead developer of the sequel along with help from Crytek UK, formerly Free Radical. It will be the first game using the new engine CryEngine 3. Crytek will bring their technical expertise for the first time to consoles and seeks to uphold their reputation of creating some of the most visually impressive games. The PC version will look better on machines able to take advantage of Crytek's new engine and DirectX 11. Crytek looks to surpass the original Crysis, which is still a benchmark of PC graphical performance in 2011.

Leaked BETA:

A beta version of the game dated from January was leaked on multiple torrent sites on February 11, 2011. Online reports indicate that the leaked beta is a partially functioning developer's build that includes the entire single-player campaign and multiplayer component, but contains numerous bugs, is plagued by frequent crashes, is only partially completed with many placeholders and textures missing and has graphical options that are limited to medium settings. Crytek released a statement saying they were "deeply disappointed" in piracy, which "continues to damage the PC packaged goods market.". Some reviewers remarked that Crytek statement was strange, considering that no PC demo of the game has been released

The mental illness caused by the Marker appears to be permanent and continues to have an effect on the protagonist Isaac Clarke. The government will continue to have a place in the storyline. The game will begin in a hospital aboard the Sprawl where players will witness the horror of the Necromorph infestation as it begins in the station.

Description:

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit is a 2010 racing video game in development by Criterion Games and published by Electronic Arts for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows and iPhone. A version for Wii is also developed by Exient. The game will support 3D-display output on PlayStation 3 and Windows. Hot Pursuit has been described as a "revolutionary" addition to the Need for Speed franchise, it is the 14th title in the franchise and is scheduled for release in November 2010.

Gameplay:

Hot Pursuit goes back to the Need for Speed series' roots and takes on the gameplay style of earlier "Hot Pursuit"-titles in the Need for Speed franchise with exotic cars and high-speed police chases. It is primarily inspired by the original Need for Speed on 3DO. Hot Pursuit lets the player play as either a cop or a racer and will feature a full career mode for both roles. The relationship between the cops and racers is described as "a dog chasing down a rabbit" with the cops being more powerful compared to the racers. Each side has several power-ups including calling for roadblocks and radar jamming. The game takes place in fictional location called Seacrest County. It is entirely open-world and features over 100 miles (160 km) of open road and, as a reference, it is four times larger than Paradise City, the city of Burnout Paradise. According to Criterion is the single-player section, somewhere between 12–15 hours long, but with lots of replay value.
Hot Pursuit also features a new social interaction system called "Autolog" described as "Facebook for the game". The game features both single-player and multiplayer game modes with up to eight players; as an option to live multiplayer racing, player can post records and achievements on the Autolog-feed for friends to see, which they then can try to beat. Autolog also contains an experience system called "Bounty". So far the only game mode revealed is "Interceptor 1 vs 1", where one cop chases one racer, but more game modes are to be revealed. Other features include the player being able to add custom soundtracks to the game.

Cars:

The driving model of the game is described as "fun and accessible". It is not as arcade-styled as Burnout Paradise, but far from a simulator. All cars in Hot Pursuit are licensed real-world supercars, and the carlist is described as "all the cars you dreamed of driving, in the way you dreamed of driving them". Most cars will be available to both racers and cops, but a few will be exclusive to each side. Also exclusively featured in the Hot Pursuit is the Porsche 918 Spyder. Ferrari however, last seen in a Shift DLC-pack but notably absent from all other Need for Speed games since Hot Pursuit 2, will also be absent from Hot Pursuit.

Plot:

Recent games in the Need for Speed franchise included a story, but Matt Webster, producer of Hot Pursuit said "We didn’t really think it was necessary to include a story. If you’re a cop, the aim is to go up the ranks, while a racer’s aim is to get to the highest rank they can."

Gameplay:

Shift 2: Unleashed career mode is called "entertaining and interactive". Shift 2: Unleashed redefines the racing simulator genre by delivering authentic and true-to-life, dynamic crash physics, plus insanely detailed real-world cars, drivers and tracks. During their careers, virtual racers partake in a variety of motorsport — like drifting, muscle car racing, retro car racing, Endurance races and circuit competition (i.e. FIA GT3 European Championship) — to hone their driving skills in hopes of becoming the FIA GT1 world champion.The game’s helmet-cam, which puts players right in the head of the racer is more than just in in-car camera. The helmet cam moves with the head of the driver, being drawn from side to side as the car takes corners and the driver is hit by G’s. As the car comes up to higher speeds, the edges of the screen will become blurred to simulate the tunnel-vision effect that drivers suffer when racing.Night racing isn't new to the genre, but Shift 2's tweaking the concept a bit to support its spicier take on the sim. Essentially, it's using the reduced field of vision to scare our pants off. Damaged headlights dim the already dark settings, making extreme turns especially frightening if they're on the same side as a broken lamp. The Autolog system is now ‘Need for Speed DNA’. The system appears in Shift 2: Unleashed in a more-or-less identical design, but will sport extra features that will not only provide track times for unique events, but also segregate data based on quick race tracks, race types and automotive disciplines. This essentially means that Autolog will be more than just a system that throws down your friend’s times regardless of how, or when, they set them during their career.

The player can twist the racquet to adjust its face when it connects with the ball, allowing skilled players to apply spin.

Gameplay:

Splash Damage developed the SMART (Smooth Movement Across Random Terrain) System. By noting a player's position and predicting what he is trying to do, it lets players navigate complex environments without equally complex input. There are four character classes: the soldier, the medic, the engineer, and the operative. The Soldier resupplies teammates and uses explosives to destroy important targets. The Engineer buffs their teammates' weapons and builds stationary turrets. The Medic heals fallen teammates and buffs their teammates' health. The Operative interrogates fallen opponents to get intel on enemy locations, performs acts of sabotage, and disguises himself as the enemy. Bethesda also claims 102 quadrillion total unique characters when factoring in minor variations.

Story:

The game is set in the near future on an enormous floating city called The Ark, which hovers above an area off the coast of San Francisco. The Ark was meant to house only 5,000 people but ended up having to accommodate 50,000. With this many residents, there was a lack of food, clothing, and water, and the residents became unsatisfied and formed a faction called The Resistance and demanded more of these essentials. The Ark's leaders refused, so The Resistance armed themselves to seize power and freely distribute water and food and claimed that the Ark had plenty of resources. At the outset, The Ark had little need for a security force, but the city quickly began recruitment and went on a firearm shopping spree to defend themselves against The Resistance. Now the only place on The Ark where there is any level of peace is around the capital, where the Ark's leaders are frantically trying to contact the outside world for aid. The Security thinks The Resistance is a terrorist group, and The Resistance sees Security as oppressive soldiers hired by the Ark's "leaders" to crush the Resistance. Both factions are playable.

Description:

Hitman: Blood Money is a stealth game developed by IO Interactive, published by Eidos Interactive and directed by Rasmus Højengaard. It is the fourth entry in the Hitman game series and was released on May 26, 2006 in Europe and on May 30, 2006 in the United States for the PlayStation 2, Xbox and Xbox 360 video game consoles and the Microsoft Windows operating system. A Mobile Phone version under the same name was also released but with drastically different gameplay, graphics and overall style.The story follows the life of professional hitman, Agent 47, as narrated in cutscenes by a former director of the FBI to a journalist who is interviewing him. The wheelchair-bound ex-director recounts how his agency tracked 47 over a two-year period. The game also marks 47's arrival to the United States, and differs from the original three in that several contracts are carried out in civilian areas, as opposed to the "covert ops" settings of Codename 47, Silent Assassin, and Contracts. A sequel has been confirmed to be in the works by Eidos Interactive.

Gameplay:

The basics of Blood Money are similar to past entries in the series; each mission is framed around the killings of one or more individuals, which the main protagonist (Agent 47) must accomplish. Standing between him and success are armed guards, security checkpoints, possible witnesses and other obstacles. The player guides 47 through the game's levels with the help of a satellite map which can be accessed at any time. The map indicates the layout of each topographical area of the level, the whereabouts of 47's main targets, and other CPU-controlled characters. In order to carry out his mission, 47 may use any method at his disposal to eliminate his targets, regardless of witnesses or excessive violence done to bystanders. Beyond rewarding stealth over bloodshed as is traditional in the series, Blood Money includes features that directly penalize the player for making too much 'noise'.Many new features were introduced to Hitman: Blood Money. These include the capability to climb through more obstacles, improved unarmed combat, the ability to use an NPC as a human shield, improved character animations (face, eyes, etc.), a new game engine and the ability to upgrade weapons and equipment. However, only five of the featured weapons in the game, as well as assorted pieces of equipment such as bombs and armor, can be upgraded. Every level contains some sort of method to make the target's death look like an accident; for example, tampering with someone's grill to make it explode when it is turned on, rigging a chandelier to fall on a target, or simply pushing the target off a balcony ledge. There are also improvised weapons, such as nail-guns, a child's air rifle, kitchen knives, screwdrivers, stilettos, cane swords, fire extinguishers, and a pair of hedge clippers.

Plot:

The game begins with a flashback at an abandoned Baltimore, Maryland amusement park, where many people were killed in an accident caused by negligent maintenance of a Ferris wheel. The father of one of the victims calls the Agency and orders a hit on the park owner, Joseph Clarence, who was cleared of all charges. 47 carries out the hit; following that assignment, he receives a string of contracts from American clients eager to hire the legendary hitman. The bulk of the game takes place as flashback sequences that occur concordant to the present day (2006), in which a journalist and the former FBI Director, "Jack" Alexander Leland Cayne, discuss 47's hits over the past two years (2004–2005) and his involvement in them. The reporter, Rick Henderson, arranged to interview Cayne concerning a recent attack on the White House. It quickly becomes clear that Cayne's real intent is to discuss 47. Cayne lies about many details, such as stating that 47 stole cloning data from Ort-Meyer to sell to the highest bidder. As the story progresses, it is implied that the Agency's employees are being systematically eliminated by two albino clones, Mark Puriyah II and Mark Parchezzi III dispatched by a western counterpart to the Agency called "The Franchise". The situation degrades to the point where 47's controller Diana Burnwood informs him that they are the only ones left. An attempt is even made on 47's life in Paris, almost killing him (prompting the events of Hitman: Contracts). In 2004, at Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Louisiana, 47 is able to kill Mark II and two other Franchise assassins.

A sequel, Mass Effect 2, was released on January 26, 2010, and takes place two years after the events that transpired in the first game. Mass Effect 2 also directly uses players' completed save data from the first game to influence events and story lines within the second game, basing certain events and narrative threads on decisions and actions that the player made in the first game.

Plot:

The game begins aboard the experimental SSV Normandy, commanded by Captain Anderson and his executive officer, Commander Shepard. The Normandy is sent to the human colony world of Eden Prime to recover an unearthed Prothean beacon. To assist in recovering the beacon, the Citadel Council, the galaxy's primary governing body, has sent one of their top agents, a turian "Spectre", named Nihlus. A small team consisting of Nihlus, Shepard, biotic Kaidan Alenko, and the quickly-killed Corporal Jenkins, who is replaced by Gunnery Chief Ashley Williams, discover that the Eden Prime colony is under attack by alien synthetic life-forms known as the geth, led by a rogue turian Spectre named Saren Arterius, who kills Nihlus. After the battle ends, Shepard locates the beacon and receives a vision. While initially struggling to understand the vision, it turns out to be images of biological creatures being slaughtered by machines.

Gameplay:

Although most of the game's screen shots and concept art show the same "default" male Commander Shepard, it is possible for the player to fully customize his or her character's appearance, sex, abilities and even military background. The game includes six character classes. Each class contains several "talents"; as each talent is leveled, the character either gains stats (extra health, stamina, etc), unlocks new abilities (for example leveling the Shotgun talent unlocks the "Carnage" ability, which allows the character to fire a concentrated explosive blast from the shotgun), or unlocks other talents. Each class also possesses a unique talent with the same name as its respective class; the characters may also have talents tied to their background. Characters who have reached level 20 will unlock a "Rogue VI" side-mission on Luna (Earth's moon) in the Sol System, upon the completion of which the player is allowed to choose a new specialist class, which in turn unlocks a new talent bar. The specialist class the character is offered depends on the base class.

It is the first game in the Medal of Honor series to receive an M rating from the ESRB.

Plot:

Medal of Honor will feature a single-player campaign that takes place in 2002, in which the player will control multiple characters from both the “Tier 1” and “Big Military” perspectives. The storyline will follow several "Tier One Operators" working under the National Command Authority in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. Players will also play as a US Army Ranger and an Apache helicopter gunner, fighting on a larger scale than the "Tier 1 Ops" campaign, as players will then only be a small part of the "war machine". The campaign will be heavily weighted (with regards to playtime) in favor of the Tier 1 operators.

Gameplay:

As a first-person shooter, Medal of Honor features modern military combat, primarily from the perspective of infantry soldiers. The player will be armed with various authentic modern military small arms and placed in combat designed to simulate modern warfare.
The gameplay is designed to be realistic, and to this end EA has hired several consultants from the United States military. Typical in-game objectives are expected to be similar to those issued in real life such as raiding terrorist hideouts, hostage rescues and undercover operations. The single player is set to include drivable vehicles such as helicopters, jeeps, and quad bikes.
The gameplay uses recharging health, rather than fixed health points. If the player is wounded, the screen turns red, and the player must avoid taking damage for several seconds to return to full health.
The game features iron sights as well as red dot sights and other aiming accessories. The player will shoot much more accurately while using the weapon's sights than when firing from the hip.

Just Cause 2 is a sandbox style action video game currently under development by Swedish developer Avalanche Studios and Eidos Interactive, published by Square Enix. It is currently set for a release on March, 23 2010. It is the sequel to the 2006 video game Just Cause.
Just Cause 2 employs a new version of the Avalanche Engine, Avalanche Engine 2.0; an updated version of the engine used in Just Cause. The game will be set on the other side of the world, compared to Just Cause, on the fictional tropical island of Panau in Southeast Asia. Rico Rodriguez will return as the protagonist, aiming to overthrow the evil dictator Pandak “Baby” Panay and confront his former boss, Tom Sheldon.

Features:

Notable features of Just Cause 2 include the dual-grappling hook, which gives players the ability to tether objects to each other. There are no limitations to what can be tethered, allowing tethering of enemies to vehicles. This feature can be utilized in gameplay situations, such as high speed vehicle chases, wherein the player can use the dual-hook to attach a pursuing vehicle to the ground, immediately forcing it to a stop and causing immense damage to the vehicle. In addition, the player is given a ‘reloadable’ stunt parachute which is always ready to be deployed, even if it had been deployed and discarded only moments before. This can be combined with the grappling hook and used for a fast method of transport in a technique known as the “slingshot maneuver” which literally slingshots the player around the map.
