There are a lot of new game ideas on Kickstarter. This week we talk about two of them. First, we chat with our pal Michael Fox from The Little Metal Dog Show about a game he’s developing called Ace Of Spies. Learn more about this fantastic looking card game and how you can support it on Kickstarter. You can also follow the campaign on Facebook and Twitter.

Then we play a game from a successfully funded Kickstarter campaign. It’s called Faggles To Faggles. We learn about it from the guys who created it Bryan & Dan. Then we play this outrageous party game with them.

Brian has another rant about his office’s snack days. We also talk about the fanboydom of My Little Pony, known as Bronies.

Poker Pals, Bejeweled, Quarrel DX and Ticket To Ride Pocket

‘Tis the season for combat, ninjas, zombies and DJs! It’s our second annual holiday special episode, Xboxmas! This year, our special guest is a familiar voice. Mike joins us as Curtis gives us a tour of some favorite video games. First we return the land of combat with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Then Mike & Brian give the Kinect a try by chopping a lot of produce with Fruit Ninja. Next, Curtis tries to protect his house from invasion as he plays Plants Vs. Zombies. We round everything out with some hot jams from DJ Hero 2.

Recipes from Foodie Fight Episode

Angry Black Bitch’s Corn Casserole Yumminess
(republished with permission of a Bitch.)

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.

1 can whole kernel corn, drained
1 can creamed corn
2 eggs, beaten
1 box Jiffy Corn Muffin mix
1 stick butter, melted (or 1/2 c. oil)
1 c. sour cream
1/4 – 1/2 tsp. garlic powder (opt.)
Shredded cheese (opt.)

Mix all ingredients except cheese. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top, if desired. Bake in casserole dish or 9″x13″ baking dish for 30 to 45 minutes or until fully cooked in center.

Yum!

Notes from Brian: I add shredded cheese to the batter as well as top it with cheese because I’m all about the cheese. I and many of my friends have sometimes added diced green chili peppers to the batter to give it a Southwest touch.

Mike’s Mom’s Broccoli Soup

2 10oz bags of frozen broccoli
2 big brown onions
4 cups of water
4 chicken bouillon cubes
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 pound butter (or 3/4 cups)
8 tablespoons flour
4 cups of milk
2 packages of cream cheese

Put the broccoli, onions, water, bouillon cubes and salt into the soup pan. Cook until tender. Do not drain.

Meanwhile, melt the butter and gradually stir in the flour. Add the milk. Melt in the cream cheese. Stir constantly (the bottom will burn easily). When the cream mixture is smooth add it to the veggie mixture. Cook until hot.

Yum!

Help Bring the Monopoly Documentary to More Theaters

Back in October, we interviewed Kevin Tostado, the producer and director of Under the Boardwalk: The Monopoly Story. Since then, this documentary has been screened at various film festivals and won awards.

Kevin is raising money to bring his film to more theaters. He has started a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. Kickstarter is a website where films, art, music, or other creative projects routinely get backers to provide funding. However, projects are on an all-or-nothing basis; if the goal is not met, no money changes hands. With crowdfunding, people can contribute as little as $1 and still help get closer to the goal.

Happy Xboxmas! For our holiday special we are joined by our pal Curtis as he gives us a tour of some favorite video games. First we get to channel our inner holiday rage and blow stuff up with Call of Duty: Black Ops. Then we get in touch with our inner ten-year-old while exploring Peggle. Curtis springs a mystery game on us. Mike & Brian attempt to play a virtual version of Jenga. We end our Xboxing with a visit to the strange and beautiful world of Beautiful Katamari.

But that’s not all! We also announce the winner of our first contest. Plus we listen to holiday greetings from some of our podcasting friends.

One of our favorite (new to us) podcasts is a hilarious show called Unload with Madge and Dave. Each week this husband and wife team unload about pop culture and current events as well as life’s joys and frustrations.

They have a segment called the Listener Unload where listeners and fellow podcasters can unload about something that’s bugging them. If you listen to episode 19, you’ll get to hear us get something off our chests.

You can subscribe to them in iTunes or the Zune Marketplace.

As Dave would whisper, “Segue.”

Speaking of the Zune Marketplace, we have submitted our feed to their podcast section, however their über non-informative submission form gives no details about how long that approval process takes, nor do they ask for any contact info to let us know if/when we are approved. Hopefully, it doesn’t take too long and we’ll be available to all you Micros0ft-loving listeners.

How Much Do We Love Sara & Rob!

I recently visited my bestie Gayle in Chicago. While I was there, it just so happened that Sara Davis from How Much Do We Love… (HMDWL) was also in Chicago visiting her bestie and co-host, Rob Lindley. After a quick check of schedules, plans were made to meet Sara for a matinee of Rob’s current show (PS – If you are in Chicago, go see Candide this week! It is really terrific.) and have drinks after. It was a truly delightful afternoon. They are as warm and enjoyable as you might suspect.

For the uninitiated, the concept of HMDWL is simple: they love things and they talk about them. Each episode is full of laughs, upbeat energy and plenty of tips on some great stuff. But what really makes HMDWL so special is that Sara & Rob’s friendship takes center stage.

When Mike & I were coming up with the concept of Game Night Guys, we kept referring to Rob & Sara’s podcast for inspiration. “It needs to be fun like HMDWL,” is something we reminded ourselves a lot.

If you haven’t listened to How Much Do We Love… before, do yourself a favor and check them out. It’s one of our faves.

Recording Our First Episode… Twice!

After a month of planning and coordinating our schedules, tonight we recorded the first episode.

It went really well. We bantered. Made each other laugh. Had a great time playing the game.

Then we discovered we left the recorder on standby mode instead of record.

Doh!

Insert sad trombone here _____.

After kicking ourselves, we started recording again. We may have lost some spontaneity from the first go, but we were a bit more comfortable behind the mic the second time.

And we still had fun playing another round.
