Retro Gaming: Sega Megadrive celebrates its 25th anniversary

2013-10-30T20:45:00.000-07:00

Memories memories, the late 80s and early 90s. A period during which Nintendo and Sega were engaged in a rude war without mercy in the field of consoles. And one of the weapons of Sega, it was well on its Megadrive or Genesis.

On October 29, 1988 came out in Japan MegaDrive, Sega third signed console - and by far the best-selling history of the Japanese manufacturer. The console, inseparable in Europe duel with the Super Nintendo has yet left a few years of operating a single trace of her own, unstoppable mix of exclusive and ultra-aggressive marketing.

And today, the Megadrive celebrates its 25th anniversary! Oh Yes! The console output is indeed October 29, 1988 in Japan. This does not rejuvenate us all! In Europe, the console from Sega came in 1990, November 30 to be precise.

All those who have had a Megadrive (like i do) remember nights of playing on Sonic, Street of Rage or even Shinobi. A console that is after all could still sold 40 million copies worldwide.

To celebrate this anniversary as it should be, the DSM-Tech today opens it's heart and shares it's (@Wfa31) memories to you, necessarily personal, a machine not quite like the others. Also be sure to check our gaming team, which will be devoted a special week to the machine and its best games chosen course totally subjective.

So we wish a happy birthday to the Sega Megadrive console and hurry up bring it quickly apparent attic and let's play.

Microsoft's CEO Steve Ballmer stepping down within a year

2013-08-24T15:41:00.002-07:00

Steve Ballmer announced yesterday his departure from Microsoft after 13 years (medium) loyal service. The inventory will exercise very quickly and take the lead story, the future ex-CEO said that for him was his biggest regret.

The Seattle Times scored interviews with Ballmer and Thompson, revealing a couple of tidbits. First, Thompson notes that the CEO will, indeed, have some input on choosing his successor. In fully reflective mode, Ballmer (not shockingly, perhaps) admits that Vista was his biggest disappointment during his tenure. He also added that he plans to stay in Seattle post-retirement, so that tropical island paradise will have to wait. Also, as plenty have noted before us, the Wall Street reaction to news has been been initially fairly positive, so read into that what you will.

The Microsoft Action earns 8% after the announcement

Don Mattrick, Ballmer ... who's next?

At a meeting granted to its shareholders, the company has taken to confirm that the PlayStation 4, if it is well sold at a loss at first, it will be far from representing the slaughter of her big sister, thanks to the supplied components from AMD rather than internal architecture (and complex) that was the CELL.

Bayonetta 2: Inaba said '' work with Nintendo's perfectionism is disturbing''

2013-08-09T06:28:00.000-07:00

In an interview with Gamasutra, Atsushi Inaba (Platinum Games) talked a little about studio's relationship with Nintendo on developing Bayonetta 2. We discover that the firm plumber, which funds the project, do not try to interfere too much, leaving a total freedom to design this studio suite.

However, Nintendo is an observer and Inaba said it is quite disturbing to work with such a perfectionist business on gameplay. Nothing pejorative in there, Yusuke Hashimoto even suggesting something refreshing to having an outside perspective and guidance when the group was in the habit of having a unique vision a bit like a tunnel.

Bayonetta 2 will be released in 2014, exclusively on Wii U.
