Scottie Pippen, a seven-time NBA All-Star and a member of six NBA title teams, today issued the following statement regarding his role in the movie “Midgets vs. Mascots”:

“Given the recent controversy surrounding Gary Coleman, the fact that I’ve been repeatedly asked questions about my small part in the movie ‘Midgets vs. Mascots,’ and a related video posted online which shows me being assaulted by a group of Little People, I want to clear up any misunderstandings.

“In 2008, I agreed to play a cameo role in a movie titled ‘A Tribute to Big Red’ (now titled ‘Midgets vs. Mascots’). My role was scripted, and the first two scenes went off without any problems. During the third scene, I was told that four Little People, along with actor Gary Coleman, were going to become angry with something I said and storm off as the scene ends. Instead, they basically attacked me, with Gary Coleman apparently climbing on a chair behind me to hit me over the head with a phone (twice).

“A short fight ensued before I heard the film’s director yell ‘cut.’ As I recall, some of the Little People were laughing as the director explained that the scene was ’sort of like an episode of the TV show Punk’d.’ At that point, I left quickly without a clear understanding of what was going on.

“As for the Little Person who claims he was injured in the attack, I really don’t think I caused the injury or can be held to blame. To the best of my knowledge, there is no action being taken against me, nor am I pursuing any action. For the record, I have never seen the movie and, in hindsight, wish I’d not been involved with it. I simply wanted to make clear my role and position as I understand the movie is coming out soon. I will not be answering any further questions regarding the film.”

The megabout may be off and fingers are pointing. Floyd Mayweather Jr. obviously didn’t want anything to do with “Pound for Pound” King Manny Pacquiao and that whole thing was a matter of getting some publicity. Remember, Mayweather needs money more than Pacquiao so why else would he pass up to be in the limelight.

But alas, when reality set in, Mayweather looked at every possible angle to push the escape button. Demanding crazy things such as an Olympic-style drug testing were among the ridiculous things that Mayweather wanted to get an advantage over the speedier and youthful Pacquiao. The Nevada Boxing Commission even stepped in but unfortunately that was not enough. Hell, who is Mayweather anyway to make such demands!

Mayweather had a lot to loose and he now carries a “Chicken” or “Coward” tag across his name. Between the two, he stands to have a popularity dip compared to Manny Pacquiao whom he branded as a drug-user (which he eventually failed to prove!).

Looking to the future, Mayweather will never earn as much compared to Pacquiao fights. Manny Pacquiao will continue to rack in the millions and he is the REAL DEAL. Regardless of whom he faces on March 13 or in the future, you can bet that his opponent will stand to make millions as well.

Mayweather is the REAL DEAD! He is nothing compared to Manny and his antics only prove that he is nothing but a loud-mouthed SOB like his father. Oh and don’t forget, he may be losing an endorsement deal if the AT&T petition is heard and stands to lose some more once the legal actions filed by the Pacquiao camp sets in. Tough luck Floyd, you just have a BIG MOUTH!

Disgusted over the accusation that he is using performance-enhancing drugs, Manny Pacquiao and his promotional outfit Top Rank is preparing to lodge lawsuits against Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Sr. and the Golden Boy Promotions.

In a statement released to media offices, Pacquiao said he could no longer take the false accusations thrown at him by the Mayweathers and the GBP.

Pacquiao, widely regarded as the best fighter on the planet, was supposed to slug it out with Mayweather Jr. on March 13, 2010, but negotiations for the blockbuster duel broke off after Pacquiao refused to yield to Mayweather’s demand that a random Olympic-style blood testing be done days before the fight

LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers left no doubt they are a title contender, routing the reigning NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers 102-87 Friday as fans hurled objects and booed in frustration.

James scored 26 points and the Cavaliers snapped an 11-game home win streak for the Lakers, whose loss in a Christmas fiasco dropped them level with Boston for the NBA’s best record at 23-5 while the Cavaliers improved to 22-8.

Urban Meyer shocked college football Saturday by resigning as Florida’s coach after five seasons and two national titles because of health concerns that came to light when he suffered chest pains following the SEC championship game.

The 45-year-old Meyer will coach his final game at the Sugar Bowl against Cincinnati on New Year’s Day.

Seeing players whoop it up at times, especially if you are up by 19 points is only natural. Some players, even Cleveland Cavalier LeBron James, may be prone to doing some crazy things like dancing and all but that is just part of being happy of playing too good. Unfortunately Joakim Noah of the Chicago Bulls took exception which got LeBron’s goat. Being a superstar, James’ should have just ignored Noah who is no better than a second (maybe even third rate) player who has not proven anything in the NBA. Unless he demands for more, all roads lead to Philadelphia for supposedly retired guard Allen Iverson. Reports have it that the Sixers have offered their former franchise player a 1 year non-guaranteed contract. If both parties should come to an agreement, Iverson may very well suit up in the next game which ironically would be against a former team of his, the Denver Nuggets.

The Sixers are gambling on Iverson but considering their shortage at the point guard position, Iverson is the best available guard in the free agent market. The Sixers would owe just under $650,000 if they guarantee his contract for the remainder of the season on Jan. 10. This agreement also means that they can cut Iverson at any time they want during the season. Will Iverson bite? Well rather than soaking at home and feeling sorry for himself, perhaps it would be best for Iverson to accept the offer. Besides, he still has a lot in the tank!

The New Jersey Nets are the only winless team in the NBA to date and have now tied the NBA record for the worst start of the season after losing the reigning champs Los Angeles Lakers, 106-87. They stand to break that record in their next game if they lose their 18th consecutive game against the Dirk Nowitzki led Dallas Mavericks on December 2.

Prior to the game, the Nets have already fired head coach Lawrence Frank who curiously debuted and led the team to 13 wins in his maiden season in 2004. Assistant coach Tom Barisse took over in their game against the Lakers but the outcome was still the same.

Coaches like Mike D’ Antoni shared that the job was suicide from the start. With the departure of big names such as Jason Kidd, Kenyon Martin, Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson, the Nets were left with not-so marquee players like Rafer Alston, Devin Harris and rising star Courtney Lee. New Jersey is currently tied with the 88-89 Miami Heat and the 1999 LA Clippers for the worst start in a season. They stand to break that distinction this December 2, a tag that no team or player definitely wants to be included in. Here’s wishing the New Jersey Nets luck against the Mavs!
