We have had many reports on a bug that crash the application in the Resume Game or New Game screen. After the crash, the screen returns to the Home menu.

To solve this problem, restart the iPhone and try again.

If this fails to work, delete your existing profile and create a new one. The migration of the old to new database may have caused some problems for some of you.

If both solution fails, delete your app (by holding the app icon and click on the X button) and reinstall it via iTunes or AppStore. Rest assured you are only paying once for this app.

Back since time without beginning, people had tried to propagate their agendas/ideas to the masses. From the most primitive form of word of mouth to radio, and simple fliers to internet media, we have seen it all. Nowdays, companies spend more than hundreds of thousands of dollars to advertise on newspapers and TV media. The evolution of the Internet also brings about online advertisements, which amount to a market of billion of dollars by itself.

Tech companies, however, have introduced a new form of marketing – by organising tech shows and events. Think MacWorld and E3 for examples.

In the new age of iPod and MacBook, we see Apple holding their own shows, to introduce to the World their newest gadgets. This will be followed by throngs of fans rushing to stores and queue for the products. And this happens every year, if you noticed.

So you ask, what marketing had Apple did, to make its products so attractive and addictive?

Other than packaging, pricing, promoting and the commons marketing techniques we all knew, Apple did something drastically different. Rather than creating contents and paying media companies to advertise, Apple invited media companies to their show and bewildered/bewitched them. So much so that these companies compete among themselves to promote the Apple shows and products, for free. Think engadget and gizmodo.

Over the years, this art has evolved even further. From paying to advertise to free coverage, Apple is now ‘charging’ a premium to be covered. In the recent WWDC (Worldwide Developers’ Conference), apple charge up to a few thousand dollars for developers and media players to attend the event. This event, which give Apple the chance to announce new technology and features, and let game developers network, is the new Holy Grail of marketing. It even threw the original MacWorld out of the game.

Apple can now earn money, instead of pay money, to advertise.

Singaporeans were treated with iPhone 3GS over the weekend of 10-12 July at Hello Comcentre. The Queue went from few thousand strong from Friday evening 6pm till morning, then restarted on Saturday which sees waiting time as long as 6 hours, to hundreds at the wee hours of Sunday evening. The raraking team, happened to pick the best timing of 1015pm on Saturday to visit the launch, with queuing time of 45mins to purchase our development phones, 3 of them, and left as the official last customer. We’re glad that the rain helped. We also got a free red SingTel umbrella and a 2 discounted AppleCare @ $69 ea for our phones, which we hope can last as long as we develop games for AppStore.

The resale price of iPhone 3GS has burst S$1600+ at local stores, it is almost insane. Singaporeans just love iPhones.

Anyway, if you are wondering what has we been doing from the time of SG Mahjong launch to today, we are silently creating the next gen SG Mahjong with bluetooth connection for multiplayer games. You will see the new game this week!

I managed to follow gizmodo instructions and upgrade my iPhone 3G OS to 3.0.

After installing 3.0 and sync-ing my phone, I was asked for my phone number for MMS. Yes, SingTel’s network is already MMS-enabled (unlike AT&T), even before the official 17th June date.

So far I’ve tried these features:

• I can MMS to my other Nokia phone
• View SMS and type in landscape. Even the SMS preview screen can be landscaped
• Delete each individual SMS instead of clearing the whole conversation
  
• Spotlight is found on the left of the main menu, just scroll left
• Copy & Paste. This is cool!
• Take photo from SMS or use existing ones to send as MMS
• Cookies option available in Safari settings. No need to type my userID again!
• Voice Memo is cool

So far:

Yes, you have seen many cute (but simple) games out there like Monkey pee, Golden Miner. We have just engaged our own in-house graphic designer, and she is able to do all those, perhaps even more.
