“There are too many buttons and sticks on controllers for novice players, which is likely to discourage them from ever playing games at all,” he said to UK publication The Guardian. “We want the Revolution’s controller to be relevant to everybody and we really want people to feel like they want to touch and play with it.”

A recent poll in a Japanese news service among 1,000 gamers has shown that Japanese gamers arent too syked about the Xbox 360. The results showed some startling statistics, out of the 1000 Japanese gamers that where interviewed, only 2 percent of them picked the Xbox 360 as there most wanted next generation console, while the PS3 scooped up a massive 60% of the votes, while 1000 gamers doesnt represent the whole Japanese nation, it probally is a true reflection on how Japanese gamers will use there money come the launch of the next generation of consoles.

Other results shown in the survey showed that 71.2% of the Japanese gamers asked wanted RPGs, even with Microsoft signing on some great developers and publishers to bring Xbox 360 exclusive RPGs. That being said Sony are probally leading because of there long list of sequels and repetitive RPGs by developers such as Square Enix.

When will Japanese gamers learn? Seriously.

Ken Kutaragi of Sony Computer Entertainment todays announced that Sony’s next generation console the PlayStation is too drop its router function. Speaking to Japanese publication Nikkei Electronics Kutaragi said that the original specification allowed the PlayStation 3 to be used as a home router due to its 3 ethernet ports.

However now that function has been dropped due to the cost of the console, making people wonder, What else will be dropped? With Sony’s console rumoured to be the most expensive too date it seems Sony are willing to remove any unnessicary hardware features. Wether this means that Sony have reduced the number of ports to just one is still to be seen as Sony are hinting that the ports maybe used for other purposes.

“Also, we want to be able to have a Gigabit port for an IP camera,” he revealed. “So one of the ports is an in, and two of them are through. It can be a server as well as a terminal.”

Speaking to Australia’s Sydney Morning, Herald Shigeru Miyamoto has discussed Nintendo’s next generation stratergie and speaks about the Revolution console. Miyamoto tells us that he doesnt believe fancy graphics are the way forward and that the Revolution’s controller will open the gateway to better gameplay experiences.

“I am not convinced realistic graphics alone make better games,” said Miyamoto.

The lack of Revolution and inparticular, lack of controller, left the audience at this years e3 very disapointed but Miyamoto emphasised how Nintendo is working on both hardware and software.

“We’re having a lot of small groups testing things, building software and hardware at the same time, so we’re busy,”

Miyamoto also told the paper that the Revolution will be a console the whole family will be able to play and enjoy and does not need to be the most powerful console for people to enjoy the playing experience, saying “an extremely powerful machine doesn’t equate to great game design” which suggests the Revolution will not be as powerful as the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

When speaking about the Revolutions controller he said.

“Sitting in front of your monitor with a controller, there’s really nowhere to go from that paradigm, all you can do is make it prettier and faster,” he said. “What Nintendo wants to do is to open up that road, create something that goes beyond.”

Reports from sources close to the the big retailers in the US including Gamestop and EB Games claim that the stores are already exhausting there estimated early allocations when the console hits the shelves this Holiday season.

Microsoft will be gaining confidence over early reports that the Xbox 360 is in high demand months before release with Microsoft setting targets of selling 10 million consoles within the first 12-16 months, the question is, Can Microsoft feed the hunger that is demand for the Xbox 360?

When CVG contacted Microsoft for the official word of these rumours a Microsoft spokes person had this to say.

“Excitement for Xbox 360 is running high,” said a spokesperson, “and we’re working with our manufacturing partners to ensure we meet worldwide demand for Xbox 360 this Christmas.”
