Ghost Recon Shadow Wars First Impressions

So after just owning my 3DS for a few months, I came upon this gem of a game in the bargain section at my local GameStop. If you're into X-Com, or Jagged Alliance then this game deserves a look up. I'm only a few hours into the game, but I'm loving it so far. The story is standard military fluff, but the combat is engaging. Though I wish there were more customization, I do like the leveling up system that's in place. This game was created very well for a portable system like the 3DS, with its quick pick up and play gameplay. I definitely recommend this game, especially for the cost alone.

Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Pre-Order

With less than 3 months to go, don't forget to pre-order your copy of Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix. This is a game my daughter and I are looking forward. Other than my need to always purchase Square Enix games, it'll be fun to go back into the world of Kingdom Hearts with HD graphics.

The Tyranny of King Washington

Ubisoft has announced the Assassin's Creed Season Pass. The game schedule to release 5 DLC packs within 6 months of release of the title. Included will also be a single player 3 story episodic campaign. It will be an alternate history titled The Tyranny of King Washington. This might end up being the first season pass I purchase. Plus I just love the picture of King Washington on his throne, I'm sure this will be an interesting What If?.

Testament of Sherlock Holmes Review

Simplicity at it's finest. It's a line Sherlock Holmes uses throughout the game, and one that perfectly describes this brilliant adventure game. It stick's to what it is, and doesn't stray from it. It's been a long time since I've played a mystery adventure game. I still have fond memories of playing through the Hugo's House of Horrors series. Interesting enough when I first started up the game, the graphics were sadly not as modern as I would have hoped for, but after finishing the game, I can say that the graphics of the game didn't harm the game either in my opinion. What had me fully engrossed was the story, especially the narration by Dr. Watson.

The story though is where this game shines, all the little twist and turns were very interesting. Anytime I thought I had it figured out, the game would throw in another loop. The game not only had me fully engrossed, but my 11 year old daughter and my 9 year old nephew as well. Which was good, because some of the puzzles in the game can be a real pain, and with three different minds working on it, it really helped move it along. Also if the puzzles do happen to be too difficult, the game has thankfully placed a skip button for them, which doesn't take away from the game one bit. Some puzzles only Holmes could truly solve, which he did for me once.

Frogwares has certainly made a follower out of me, and I can't wait to see what else they develop. This game is definitely a thinking person's game, and at a great starting price of $39.99, I rate this game a BUY for anyone looking for murder, mystery, and adventure.

Persona 4 Golden Launch Date

Persona 4 Golden has an official launch date of November 20, 2012, to go with it's official ESRB rating of M. So that means only 2 more months to go, and I'll get my hands on this title. I can't wait to play this, and see all the new things added into the game. Here's some screenshots to go with this announcement as well. Anyone else picking up this game?

Dragon Age III

BioWare is working on Dragon Age III and have been working on it for the past 2 years. It's basically just an announcement, I'm sure many of us knew this was an eventuality. Mark Darrah, the Executive Producer for the game just wanted to get the announcement out there. He doesn't want to go into any more details till they have something more concrete to show us.

With the debacle with Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 3, and SWTOR, I know there are people out there still wondering if BioWare has lost their way. I'm one of those people, granted I enjoyed the games for a time, I was still let down by the experience as a whole. Dragon Age 2 was probably my biggest disappointment in BioWare. I liked Mass Effect 3, until the ending which felt rather short and rushed. As for SWTOR it was a very fun game, and thoroughly enjoyed playing it with my family, the monthly fee was just not worth it. Especially now with Guild Wars 2 out. Now I'm willing to give them another chance with this game, mainly because I like the Dragon Age universe, and if they can catch the magic that made Dragon Age: Origins a hit, then it will definitely be worth it. They've stated that they have listened to the fans, let's just hope that's true.

As of right now here is what Mark Darrah can confirm:

The next game will be called Dragon Age III: Inquisition.
We won't be talking about the story of the game today. Though you can make some guesses from the title.
This game is being made by a lot of the same team that has been working on Dragon Age since Dragon Age: Origins. It's composed of both experienced BioWare veterans and talented new developers.
We are working on a new engine which we believe will allow us to deliver a more expansive world, better visuals, more reactivity to player choices, and more customization. At PAX East, we talked about armor and followers… Yeah, that kind of customization. We've started with Frostbite 2 from DICE as a foundation to accomplish this.

Blade and Soul Officially Westward Bound

NCSoft has announced that they are working on bringing their Martial Arts MMO Blade & Soul to Western gamers. Blade & Soul brings to life Asian myth's and legends, using the creative artwork of Hyung-tae Kim. The game will have 4 races, and 6 classes. XCOM Enemy Unknown PS3

Well apparently after the development problems with Elder Scrolls Dawnguard on the PS3, some PS3 users on the 2K forums were a little wary of not seeing any in game screenshots or videos of the PS3 version. But the people at 2K and Firaxis wanted assure those gamers, and have released two screenshots of the PS3 version.

I know it's a long way from actually seeing a video, but 2K games has never complained about making games on the PS3, and have always been quick to address issues with their games on the PS3. Especially in the case of Bioshock, if anyone can remember those problems.

I have faith in the developers at Firaxis, and can't wait for this game to release. Oh and if you have had any doubts about the game head on over to Rock Paper Shotgun, they have a brilliant write up on the game, which has made the wait unbearable.

Guild Wars 2 Our Time is Now

If you own a PC and haven't picked up Guild Wars 2, what are you waiting for. This is one of the best games I've played in a long time. I have been thoroughly enjoying this game with my friends and family. Yes there are some issues, but Arena Net has been quick to respond to them. This is a game you definitely have to try out. All with the added bonus of no subscription fee.

Sleeping Dogs Review

Sleeping Dogs has probably been one of the better gaming experience's I've had in the past few years. Maybe it's the Asian theme that really appealed to me. United Front Games, and Square Enix have a hit on their hand with this game, and if you're on the fence about purchasing it, the demo for the game is now available. To think that I almost didn't pick up this game, because of a few user reviews I read, luckily the guy at Best Buy convinced me otherwise.

Basically take the open world of Grand Theft Auto, and Saint's Row, make it Hong Kong, and throw in the combat system of Batman Arkham City and you get Sleeping Dogs. I spent a lot of time looking for fights around the city, and the game was more than happy to allow me to get my fix. The RPG like character system is also a nice touch, and helped ease me into learning more fighting moves. The story though is where this game really shines, and I just couldn't stop wanting to know what would happen next, that's probably explains why I beat the game in a day and half, but I have no regrets for the length of the game, because there were more than a few side mission's I didn't do, like racing, a few escort mission's and host of other stuff. Oh I did manage to finish the Karaoke mission's though, United opted for a simplistic, yet fun game system for that.

Graphically the game is stunning, rain or shine, night or day, no blood or blood. Everything looked great to me. The sound is where it's at though, the superb voice acting, and the great soundtrack helped make the game a truly enjoyable experience. There were a few slight bumps with the game, mainly for me it was in the very final mission of the game, my game froze twice, and had me start over in an earlier instance, but it quickly resolved itself and I was able to finish. I figure it was my PS3 not wanting me to finish the game. Also a minor thing that I wish was in the game, was a moral system, this game for me seemed to be screaming for one in place. Of course it would have had to been a moral system that was more grey, and less black and white, which is still a rarity in games that do have them in place.

I thoroughly enjoyed this game though and I highly recommend this game to anyone with even a slight interest in open world game's, it wont be a purchase you regret. With this game United Front Games has solidified itself in my mind as more than just a Kart game developer, but real expert's at what they do. And hopefully this is a sign of more great game's to come from Square Enix. Oh and Square if you're reading this, yes I would love a sequel. Enjoy this demo trailer.

One Piece Pirate Warriors

To keep things fresh it appears they are adding Boss fights, and platform sequences to the Koei Warrior formula. Can't wait to pick this game up.
