Export And Industry Bank Put Under Receivership

The Monetary Board has issued Resolution #686 today, April 27, 2012 putting Export & Industry Bank under PDIC Receivership to protect its 50,000 depositors. The Philippine Depository Insurance Corp. will now take over the bank which has fifty (50) branches nationwide. In an interview with DZBB, BSP Deputy Governor Nestor Espenilla Jr. said the Monetary Board decided Thursday night to place the bank under receivership. He further added that the the bank had advised the board they were expecting some big deposits but could not handle them and may be forced to go on a bank holiday today. I Am Gensan’s FourSquare King

Last April 16, FourSquare meet-ups were happening around the world

In Gensan, Gaisano Mall sponsored the gathering of 4sQ addicts at their Port Cafe

Over 20 users came and exchange ideas on how to figure among the Top Scorers

As one of the first users of FourSquare, I have lorded it over as Top Honcho for so long

Well, until more and more users joined, that is!

But having a commanding head start, everybody else had to eat my dust

With 4,827 check-ins, 41 badges and 156 mayorships

I was crowned KING OF FOURSQUARE in Gensan

Donna Mae Congson was crowned as FourSquare Queen

Donna right now is on the top among Gensan users

It was a great time to meet other 4Sq addicts

Donna and I gave them tips on how to earn more points

We also told them not to cheat and check-in honestly

Just enjoy FourSquare and don’t get too serious about it

I know of one friend who got so stressed when he got to the #1 spot

And gets booted off after a few minutes — Chill lang, pare!

Making A Difference By Donating Blood

I’ve been regularly donating blood to the Red Cross yearly

This time around I’m also doing it for a friend as a birthday gift

When Gaygay Llido-Velasquez posted about her “Blood, Life.” program — I immediately signed up

I also knew that my body was super-ready — my dieting made sure of that

But I super-hate needles — I dread the thought of being pricked

So when it was time to be tested for my hemoglobin I actually considered backing out

Not only was it painful — it was darn irksome too

But survived it I did — I didn’t even noticed it was all over

The best thing that happened was being photographed with the other donors

A team of police officers in their blue sports attire were all-smiles

We all made a difference that day — the blood we donated could save lives

I was smiling from ear to ear myself — there was just so many men… so little time!

If you still haven’t done this — think about it — just do it

Donating blood is also good for you — your body is resuscitated as new blood is “churned-out”

You may have to be courageous but it’s all about having SINCERE commitment to help

What’s a little prick to worry about? You can save a life.

The Fat & Fab Brothers are joining forces to bring the Google Map Maker Summit in Mindanao. It’s happening on April 21, 2012, Saturday at STI College Gensan. It’s totally free of charge and various freebies from Google will be given away. Meals will be provided too. And hey, all you need to bring is a laptop as WiFi connection will be in place too. I’m posting the official BLOG announcement about this event which is posted at GenSantos.com. Read on, faithful readers…

“I am pleased to announce that a series of Google Map Maker Summits will be held separately in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao this month of April in cooperation with the Department of Tourism.

This is to purposely help Philippine tourism and disaster preparedness all over the country.

The three summits are envisioned to kick-off MapUps or Mapping activities and/or initiatives for tourism and health establishments in their respective regions.

It is open for FREE to all mapUp organizers, mappers, government agency workers, business establishment owners and just about anybody (students or professionals) who are interested in mapping their local communities.

The Visayas leg will be the first to be conducted on April 12, 2012 at the University of La Salle in Bacolod City.

The island of Luzon follows on April 14, 2012 at the University of Baguio in Baguio City.

Then on April 21, 2012, Saturday, it will be Mindanao‘s turn, at the STI Campus, J. Catolico Avenue, General Santos City, from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

A Google Geo Advocate Team will be joining the three summits and some will be flying in from Singapore and India.

Part of the agenda of the day-long workshops are Practical Sessions on the use of Google Map Maker and separate orientations on Panoramio and Sketch Up. Aside from these, there will be sharing of stories from Map Makers and Mapping advocates. Of course, LUNCH and SNACKS are courtesy of Google.

It will surely be fun!

We are very glad that GenSan has been chosen to host the Mindanao leg on April 21 since three Mapping parties have already been conducted here courtesy of the Soccsksargen Bloggers – in December 2009, May 2010 (mapping precincts) and May 2011 (mapping evacuation centers).

We started out as part of the music team of Immanuel Christian fellowship, there, we grew not only musically but also spiritually. Then we decided to form a band and reach out to people in the best way that we know. Through music.

What or who inspires your band?
Jesus Christ, our loved ones.

What makes your band unique and interesting?
“we have Rico J. Punobamboo (milo). Hahahaha.”
“we have a female bassist. That’s pretty harcore. Hahaha”.
“we have the best drummer in the city (self proclaimed..:DDD)”.
“we all can dance?”
“we like to write melodic and progressive original songs”.
“we have the BEST management”.
“we prefer simplicity over complexity”
“we love to eat”.
“we love centerpoint and their songs”.
“our singer likes to imitate Mr. Densho Biala”
“we make it a point to be wholesome at ALL times”.

What are your band’s goals and aspirations?
*we all desire to make it big
*we aspire to have our own recording studio and hear people singing our songs aloud

What is the song about, what is it written for and how was it created?

Letters…………”the song is basically a letter for someone we love wholeheartedly with the creative expression of our sentiments, aspirations, thoughts, feelings,indefinite affection and profound adoration.We originally wrote this song as a praise song but since the kaskas management expressed “wag masyadong religious para hindi matakot ang mga adik.” So we made slight but eventful changes in the lyrics.

The song is the result of the sheer overflow of the playmate’s ingenious musical chemistry. We intentionally made a song from the key of “Eb” and then started singing at “C#.” All instrumental lines were carefully experimented to produce simplified production of the song in totality. The rest is history. TO GOD BE THE GLORY.

How was your band formed?
Our band was originally formed through an acoustic fest that we once joined. Since then, when we join competitions, we never changed our band name. We remained the “Natural Harmony”.

What or who inspires your band?
Whenever we write songs, be it slow or fast, our lyrics and music are always inspired by our one and only Savior, Jesus Christ.

What makes your band unique and interesting?
With our passion to write and play songs that are influenced by the Jazz, Pinoy Soul, Funky, Blues genre, we believe, makes us unique. The way we write our songs, the message and the music, especially when we all come together and play, that makes our band interesting.

What are your band’s goals and aspirations?
Of course, every band desires to be part of the main stream industry, so we are. But our main goal is to share what we have and be able to minister with our songs.

What is the song about, what is it written for and how was it created?
Our song is speaks of the real answer to the problems of this world. You do not need to look for answers in this world but to trust the one who promised to never leave you, and that is God. The song is written for those who never knew the truth and that becomes the inspiration for this song, to minister to this world.

dofb is a group of music enthusiasts who, having been driven by their love for music, formed the band with the hope to instill unity, patriotism, friendship, and fear for God through their music. Formerly known as the battle of souls (bos) band, which was formed early in 2oo2.

GOD, FrancisM, DictaLicense, RATM, Mutemath, MALAY, KAPATID, Dong Abay,

What makes your band unique and interesting?
dotfb jams for fun and passion–not for glory. dotfb has played and will play on believing that we can make a difference through our music…

What are your band’s goals and aspirations?
In between 5-10 audiences, at least 1 of them would be touched, and be awaken on the reality itself with our music.

What is the song about, what is it written for and how was it created?
Basically the song is all about hope, to instill the change that we want with our country, change must start with in our selves, with in our words, for at the end of the day, it’s not for who we are, but it’s on what we do that defines us. The song was created out of loathe, out of thirst for Change, and we mean REAL CHANGE…

How was your band formed?
My mga sari-sarili kaming mga banda. Si kokoi at dyubz ay mag kasama sa isang banda samantala si niño, toi, jun-jun ay may kanta-kantang mga banda. Matagal na kaming mag ka kilalang lahat hanggang na isipan naming bumuo ng isang banda. Na buo ang banda naming nuong august 31, 2009.

What or who inspires your band?
Halos kaming lahat ay idolo si bamboo, rico blanco kaya karamihan sa mga pondo ng banda mga awitin ni bamboo at rico. Sila ang mga taong nag inganyong pag husayan ang pag babanda.

What makes your band unique and interesting?
Dahil magkakapatid na ang turingan naming sa bawat isa. Nag dadamayan sa kong anu ang problema ng bawat isa. Pantay-pantay sa lahat ng bahay. At higit sa lahat mahal naming ang musikang PILIPINO!

What are your band’s goals and aspirations?
Na makilala ng bawat Pilipino an gaming mga awitin. Ipakita sa lahat ng mamamayang Pilipino na kaya nating umangat sa iba.

What is the song about, what is it written for and how was it created?
Ang awitin naming ang nag papahiwatig na kaya natin lumaban sa hamon ng buhay, isinulat naming ito ng buong puso at nagawa naming ito dahil sa kagustuhan naming umangat ang bawat Pilipino sa bansang ito. Kaya natin. Kaya nating umangat, kaya nating bumangon….!

How was your band formed?
Schoolmates + Drinkmates + Everyone loves to grab “that guitar” so we assigned each one to his own weakest instrument… and there you go, Start at the End. Jokes aside, we were actually formed just recently, specific, during this year’s kalilangan festival battle of the bands (feb, 2012). We lost, okay! =) So we’re just about a month old. Cheers!

What or who inspires your band?
Our hot crushes ☺

What makes your band unique and interesting?
Each one of us came from a different taste/genres of music and decided to create a new breed of sound…since we were all friends, they could care less alright?

What are your band’s goals and aspirations?
To push our own choice of music into stardom. Just kidding. We just wanted to perform on stage, go with the crowd, play some song and have fun! We’ve already created a couple of songs (an album so to speak) but it is yet to be recorded. Circa 2007.

What is the song about, what is it written for and how was it created?
The song Make It Up is about a boy to his girl – his then-ex girlfriend, unfortunately, trying to make up for a second chance. It started with a cool melodic (rather melancholic) guitar riff in F-major only to be followed by a sad lyrics talking about how “this lone photograph left” reminds him of her, their love story of course thinking it would end “happily ever after” ? NOT… as it all went bad for them. Alas. Succeeding into the chorus with the boy asking helplessly how to make up for their lost love, this unbearable pain his heart aches for the only girl he truly loved. And so on…he continues reminiscing his past memories with her (sounds like a hell of a nightmare) begging it (the good ole days) to come back. But all is lost, buddy. All you could do now is cry your heart out, sing a song and move on! Dammit! sorry for the long story.
