I had to reign on his parade and bring him back to earth

As a friend, I was happy for his good-fortune

It’s actually a warning for anyone who wishes to visit

Sobrang lambing ng mga Zamboangaenos

Sobrang misteryoso ng lugar

Sobrang daming pwedeng gawin dito

Kaya baka hindi nyo na iisipin pang umalis pa

Visiting Zamboanga is always a pleasure

It’s something you look forward to

The sing-song delivery of the chavacano dialect

Never fails to cause my heart to pitter-patter

My favorite hotel is Garden Orchid Hotel

It’s very near the Zamboanga International Airport

Kilala na ako dito kasi suki na nga ako nila

Yesterday, in a rush, I left my cellphone at the coffee shop

I got it back intact – bilib ako talaga!

And I love the flowers of Zamboanga

Just as I love their food

Kalilangan Festival Photo Contest Top Three Best Pictures

1st Best Picture by Dino Kintanar

We’re proud to announce the winners of the Kalilangan Festival 2010 Photo Contest. Out of the more than 250 entries, the judges chose twenty-five consolation winners and the three best pictures in the competition. We had difficulty in selecting the winning photos since there were just too many of them. Entries for the Street Dancing Category overshoot our expectations – it reached almost 150 pictures. This was where most of the selections came from. We noticed that the other categories had lackluster entries thus adjustments had to be made as far as the number of winners per category.

This picture by Dino Kintanar was a unanimous choice by the judges. It encompassed everything that Kalilangan Festival is all about: Fun, vibrant, colorful and dynamic.

2nd Best Picture by Paul Fernandez Llanos

Seemingly subdued but this photo captured the rich cultural heritage of Gensan. Paul Fernandez Llanos almost did not make it to this event. Good thing he did — his shot tells an important story.

3rd Best Picture by Ronald V. Velasquez

Not your typical street dancing photo which the judges noticed immediately. The original Master of Photography captured the fading light from the sky and with the available light it painted a beautiful rendition of the dance.

The first-ever Queen of Mindanao Festivals, Madonna Galang had to take over as Gensan’s bet in lieu of Miss Gensan Astrid Hernandez who was busy with her nursing studies. In this photo, Dong Pading once again proved that he has an eye for beauty (or beautiful ladies).

Dabawenya Crowned Binibining Gandang Hari 2010

Right from her introductory line, Macmac already caught everyone’s attention

“If being sexy is a crime then by all means put me to jail!”

From thereon, Macmac was on her way to the coveted crown

Winning most of the minor awards

He bested nine other equally beautiful gays

So beautiful that any real lady will die of insecurity

At first glance, Dandan looked like a young Cherie Gil

He would have been a shoo-in for the crown

Jade is from Barangay Calumpang and he came with her coterie of supporters

He was one of the most applauded finalists

All the other finalists obviously prepared for the pageant

They moved like real ladies

Having survived the grueling pageant

Makes them all winners already

Mga Dapat Pansinin Sa Mga Dyowang Nangangaliwa

Ito lang ang masasabi ko: Huwag maging kampante. Kahit na magsyota o magdyowa kayo, iwasan ang pagkakataon na naghiwalay kayo dahil may nangaliwa. Pinakamasakit ito sa mga pwedeng maging dahilan ng paghihiwalay. Read and learn…

Pansinin mo tuwing gamit nya ang cellphone. Kinikilig ba sya pag may ka-text? Pag may tumatawag ba, lumalayo ba sya sayo? Diretsahin mong tanungin kung sino ang katext o kausap nya then pansinin mo kung papano at anong isasagot nya. Good luck na lang talaga.
Naaalala pa ba nya ang anniversary nyo? Eh ang birthday mo? Usually sasabihin nyang busy lang sa work, sa school, sa barkada, sa simbahan. So ano ka bang talaga sa buhay nya? Labandera?
Kung nagdidi-date ba kayo, sina-suggest nyang isama ang mga barkada or friends nyo? Bakit kaya? Dalawa lang yan: Either nabobored sya pag ikaw ang kasama or ikinakahiya ka nyang kasama.
Tuwing namamasyal kayo sa public places, nakikipag-holding hands pa rin ba sya with you? Or nauuna nyang maglakad o di kaya nagpapahuli. Look yourself in the mirror — baka nga hindi ka na kaaya-ayang kasama.
Nagagawa mo pa rin bang busisihin ang mga gamit nya particularly ang cellphone nya? Anong reaction nya kapag ginagawa mo ito? Nanlilisik ba ang mga mata nya sa galit unlike before na sya pa ang nag-oofer na bulatlatin mo ang mga gamit nya?
Kapag may date kayo, how often ba syang nali-late? Anong dinadahilan nya? Pansinin mo rin kung lagi nyang tinitingnan ang oras. At kung ang rason nya eh dahil mami-miss nyang panoorin ang paboritong nyang teleserye, mag-alsa balutan ka na.
Malambing pa rin ba sya sayo? Or nagiging iritable sya kapag naglalambing ka sa kanya. And by the way, iba ang iritable sa nandidiri ha. Sana hindi pa umaabot sa pandidiri ang emotions nya.
Tuwing naghahalikan kayo, ramdam mo ba ang love nya? Am talking about lips-to-lips. May init pa ba? O halik-magulang na lang kayo sa isa’t isa. Kapag sa pisngi na lang humalik pwede pang maka-recover yan. Pero kapag sa noo ka na hinahalikan, matakot ka na.
Pansinin mo kung papano nya i-treat ang ibang tao. Kung sa tingin mo mas maayos ang treatment nya kesa sa pag-treat nya sayo then mag-isip isip ka na.
Palagi ba syang nag-oovertime? Or may out-of-town assignment? Panay din ba ang night-outs nya with friends? Hmmmm… wag kang manhid.

Anyway, itong mga nakasulat dito pwedeng produkto lang ng imahinasyon natin. Ang importante naiintindihan natin na pwedeng mangyari ito. Kaya ngayon pa lang, umayos ka na at gawin ang nararapat. Huwag hayaang maligaw ng landas ang ating mga minamahal.

Noynoy Still Leads The Pre-election Polls

Tatlong buwan bago sumapit ang May 10 elections, naghahari pa rin si Sen. Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” Aquino III ng Liberal Party sa mga surveys.

Ipinapakita sa pinakabagong Pulse Asia Survey, isinagawa mula Pebrero 21 hanggang 25, na si Sen. Aquino pa rin ang napipisil na kandidato sa pagka-pangulo ng 36%.

Si Manny Villar naman ng Nacionalista Party, sa kabila ng pagbaha niya sa TV at radyo ng mga adverstisements na nagkakahalaga ng P1.3 Bilyon at higitan sa gastos ang lahat ng kandidato sa pagka-pangulo bago pa sumapit ang panahon ng kampanya, ay pumapangalawa lamang sa 29%, bumaba ng anim na puntos kumpara sa marka niya nuong Enero 10.

Ang Pulsa Asia survey na ito, inilapat sa nagrespondeng 1,800 katao, ay nagpapatibay rin sa naging resulta ng survey ng Taylor Nelson Sofres (TNS), ginanap nuong Enero 28 hanggang Pebrero 3 kung saan ipinakitang lamang ng 11% si Aquino kay Villar. Lumalabas na ang dalawang surveys ay nagtataglay ng halos magkatulad na resulta.

Ipinabatid ng mga nagresponde sa Pulse Asia survey na ang pagkakaroon ng isang presidenteng hindi korap, at may malasakit sa mahihirap, ang kanilang pangunahing dahilan sa pagpili ng kandidato.

Pumangatlo si Erap Estrada sa 18%, pang-apat naman si Gilbert Teodoro sa 7%. Sina Bro. Eddie Villanueva, Richard Gordon, Jamby Madrigal, Nick Perlas, Vetallano Acosta at JC de los Reyes ay halos magkakapantay naman sa gradong 0-2%, sa dahilang “plus/minus 2%” ang “margin of error” sa pagitan nila (dagdag-bawas na 2% bilang palugit sa posibleng mali).

Sa mga kandidato sa pagka-bise presidente, nangunguna si Sen. Mar Roxas, ang katambal sa pagtakbo ni Aquino, sa markang 43%, samantalang pumapangalawa naman si Loren Legarda ng National People’s Coalition sa 27%.

Ipinahayag ni Sen. Aquino na ang resulta ng survey ay isang patunay na matatag at matalas kumilala ang botatentang Pilipino sa mga kasinungalingang ikinakalat ng kanyang mga katunggali.

“Ako po’y nagagalak sa pagpapatunay ng survey na ito na patuloy ang pagbuhos ng suporta mula sa sambayanang Pilipino na naglalayon ng tunay na pagbabago para sa ating bansa,” pahayag ng senador. “Hindi po ako titigil hangga’t hindi natin naibibigay sa ating kapwa Pilipino ang isang lideratong malinis at mapapagkatiwalaan.”

Rather than being perceived as ingratiating, a compliment may simply make sense to the ears of someone with a healthy self-image. It adds to the person’s self-esteem.
