Prova disso é que a Volkswagem, na década de 60, lançou uma famosa propaganda na qual, fazendo alusão aos rivais da Willys, os Renault Dauphine/Gordini, argumentava que “era preferível ter duas portas do que quatro portinholas”. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Mas foi na cidade de Pirassununga, interior de São Paulo, que um Fusca 1966 acabou ganhando mais duas portas e veio mostrar como seria se, um dia, a VW optasse em oferecer um besouro tão diferente.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Tal realização “artística” foi possível graças à união do médico carioca Paulo Panchorra e do restaurador de carros antigos Milton Wagner Ciola. A idéia de criar o Fusca quatro portas teve início em meados de 2006, quando Panchorra comprou um besouro e o enviou para Milton Ciola restaurá-lo. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Este último já havia trabalhado para Panchorra anos antes, quando criou, a partir de outro Fusca, um modelo conversível. “Lembro que, quando ele chegou em minha oficina com o besouro, lancei a idéia de criar um modelo quatro portas. Minha intenção, como muitos, era a de fazer algo diferente com um carro tão versátil”, explicou o restaurador. O médico, que já aprovara o trabalho de transformação feito em seu outro Volks, aceitou o desafio de imediato e topou dar toda a assistência necessária no tocante a compra dos itens, além, é claro, de deixar a imaginação do restaurador correr solta.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="color:#3333ff;"&gt;SEGREDO DA TRANSFORMAÇÃO&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Assim que o Fusca 1966 chegou a oficina, o primeiro passo foi estudar como seria feito o “enxerto” das portas traseiras sem alterar o desenho da lateral. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Ciola já sabia da existência de outras adaptações para o besouro ter quatro portas, porém, todas elas exigiram que a forma original do carro fosse modificada. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;A princípio o restaurador imaginou como criar as portas traseiras, sempre seguindo o desenho básico da carroceria. Foi aí que surgiram os primeiros obstáculos. Não haveria lugar para a colocação das dobradiças das portas traseiras, devido ao restrito espaço disponível na coluna central (B). &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Outro ponto importante era não perder a altura do vinco presente na lateral, que seria uma espécie de guia para o alinhamento das novas portas traseiras. Depois de muito estudo o impasse chegou ao fim quando se resolveu modificar a coluna central. Com isso as portas dianteiras tiveram seu tamanho reduzido. Elas foram cortadas e diminuídas, indo de 94 cm para 79 cm. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;O ganho de espaço ajudou na colocação das dobradiças nas laterais. “Muitas pessoas disseram para eu usar dobradiças na parte interna das portas traseiras. Porém, isso não deixaria a lateral igual, já que as portas dianteiras têm dobradiças aparentes”, explicou Ciola. Como a coluna original foi retirada, uma nova foi criada com chapas de 16mm. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Outro cuidado que o restaurador tomou foi em reforçar as soleiras (caixas de ar), bem como o arco do teto. Isso foi feito para evitar torção e manter o alinhamento da carroceria. “Na nova coluna central usamos chapas de 16 mm. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;As originais VW eram de 20 mm. Já no reforço do teto e na base do assoalho decidimos usar a chapa de 18 mm. Isso fez com que a carroceria ficasse mais rígida e menos suscetível a desalinhar”, explica. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;O próximo passo foi a concepção das portas traseiras. Mas como elas foram criadas? É aí que está o segredo. Milton Ciola procurou usar o maior número possível de peças originais para a concepção dos novos itens. Assim, as portas traseiras foram moldadas em cima das folhas originais dianteiras. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Foi necessário comprar duas portas dianteiras novas para criar as traseiras. “Ao invés de quebrar a cabeça e criar uma nova porta, preferi trabalhar com a original. Mantive o vinco, bem como o alojamento da maçaneta. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Desse modo todo o conjunto ficou igual e harmonioso”, detalha. O antigo batente da porta dianteira foi aproveitado para criar a nova lateral da porta traseira e, com isso, a trava original foi mantida, impedindo o surgimento de problemas no abrir e fechar das novas portas. Outro fator interessante é o ângulo de abertura. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Como as portas não têm limitador, as quatro praticamente abrem em um ângulo de 90° graus. Além de facilitar o acesso ao interior do Fusca elas não tem folgas e fecham com precisão, sem a necessidade de batidas.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Os vidros das portas foram feitos especialmente para o modelo. Como as portas tiveram seu desenho reduzido, foi preciso tirar a medida, fazer uma espécie de matriz em duratex e levar até um vidraceiro. As máquinas de subir e descer os vidros são originais da VW. Porém, foi preciso fazer um novo suporte em L, para que o vidro pudesse ficar centralizado na base da máquina. Todo o processo de transformação levou quatro meses. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Nota-se que o conjunto lateral conseguiu ter harmonia, mesmo com o deslocamento da coluna, as novas portas mantiveram uma proporção no tocante ao equilíbrio das linhas originais. “Todo o segredo nessa transformação se restringe a modificação da coluna central. Ao invés de aumentá-la, como seria o trivial, fiz o processo inverso. Minha intenção era deixar tudo funcional, mas mantendo o desenho que consagrou o Fusca durante sua existência”, disse o orgulhoso Ciola. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="color:#3333ff;"&gt;SEGUNDO TEMPO&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;O Volkswagen Fusca foi então levado para a restauração. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Embora a carroceria estivesse em bom estado, algumas intervenções foram necessárias. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;O assoalho, por exemplo, foi todo revisado e passou pelo jato de areia para tirar pequenas ferrugens. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Os pára-choques dianteiros e traseiros foram trocados, já que os originais estavam danificados. A cor original, que era cinza, passou a ser o Vermelho Granada, também original da linha VW.Quanto à mecânica, o dono anterior já havia trocado o motor original, de 1200 cm3, por um 1300, que foi acompanhado pelo sistema elétrico de 12V. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;O câmbio e o sistema de freios (a tambor nas quatro rodas) foram devidamente revisados e o Fusca ganhou ainda quatro pneus novos, da marca Maggion, modelo Falcon F2, na medida 5-60 R15.No interior alguns elementos foram mantidos “originais”. Foi o caso do velocímetro, do marcador do nível de combustível e do rádio AM Motoradio Transistor 8. Abaixo do painel está o porta-objetos popularmente conhecido como quebra-joelho. As maçanetas e trincos são iguais para as quatro portas. Somente a tapeçaria dos bancos precisou ser refeita, pois a original estava danificada.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Os bancos receberam novos tecidos, porém não seguiram o padrão original de fábrica, popularmente conhecido como pijaminha. Devido às medidas das portas serem diferentes seus revestimentos, exclusivos, tiveram que ser feitos artesanalmente, mas seguindo o desenho original. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Porém, Ciola diz que alguns pontos do acabamento interno deixaram a desejar. “No revestimento que cobre parte do espaço atrás do banco traseiro, conhecido com chiqueirinho, fizeram uma costura entre um tecido e outro. Isso não existe no acabamento original da VW”, detalhou.
