New Garbage Song Enriches CD/DVD Compilation

A newly recorded Garbage single, "Tell Me Where It Hurts," will be included on an upcoming best-of collection, "Absolute Garbage." Due July 24 via Geffen, the CD/DVD combo includes 17 audio tracks on its first disc, a second disc with 14 remixes and a DVD with 15 music videos, live clips and behind-the-scenes footage.

Among the acts chipping in with remixes on the bonus disc are UNKLE, Massive Attack, the Crystal Method, Todd Terry and Felix Da Housecat.

Meanwhile, "Tell Me Where It Hurts" will arrive July 9 on two separate 7-inch vinyl singles -- one with the B-side "Bad Boyfriend (Sting Like a Bee remix)" and the other with "All the Good in This Life." The CD single sports the B-side "Betcha." A video for the new song, directed by Sophie Muller, began airing internationally last week.

Garbage has been on hiatus since 2005, although the group reunited in late January to play a benefit concert in Glendale, Calif. It is unknown if further activity is in the offing, as frontwoman Shirley Manson is moving forward with her first solo album.

In North America, the album and special edition will be released on July 17th. The North American DVD release has moved to July 24th, it will be worth the wait!

Outside of North America the album/dvd/special edition will be released on July 23rd.

Garbage has its first "best of" collection--the CD and DVD collections, Absolute Garbage will be released July 16th and July 17th in US and Canada. Along with the new track "Tell Me Where It Hurts," Absolute Garbage features 17 songs of extreme and intense emotion, from "Stupid Girl," "Queer" and "#1 Crush" to "Special," "Bleed Like Me" and "Why Do You Love Me."

Among the 15 Garbage music videos on DVD for the first time -- including "Vow," "Only Happy When It Rains," "Stupid Girl," "Milk" and "Queer" -- is almost an hour of never-before-seen footage backstage and behind-the-scenes, live performances and interviews, spanning the band's entire career.

A special limited edition 2-CD set adds to the original CD a bonus disc of remixes by some of the world's most renowned DJs, including U.N.K.L.E., Massive Attack, Todd Terry, Crystal Method, Fun Lovin' Criminals, and Felix Da Housecat.

Tell Me Where It Hurts Single

Garbage will release a brand new single entitled "Tell Me Where It Hurts" on July 9th on Warner Bros. Records (excluding North America). The single, recorded especially for inclusion on Absolute Garbage, will be released ahead of the "best of" collection Absolute Garbage that follows a week later.

"Tell Me Where It Hurts" will be available on two 7" formats and one CD. Each 7" release has a different b-side ("Bad Boyfriend" (Sting Like a Bee Remix) and "All The Good In This Life") whilst the CD features "Betcha."

Madison, Wisconsin (October 6, 2005) ?- To garner awareness for the local campaign and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Madison Affiliate, a highly visible media splash is being prepared to kick off Lee National Denim Day.

Komen Madison asked celebrities to paint a pair of Lee Jeans to be displayed and eventually auctioned off in support of The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Starting on October 7, 2005, the jeans will be displayed in storefronts along State Street in Madison for one week before they are auctioned off to raise funds for Komen Madison. Anyone can view and bid on the jeans by going to the Komen Madison website, www.komenmadison.org. All funds raised by the auction will go to support Komen Madison and its efforts to eradicate breast cancer.

Participating celebrities include Shirley Manson, lead singer for the rock band Garbage; Jonatha Brooke, folk/pop singer/songwriter and guitarist; Ben Lee, singer/songwriter; Ben Sidran, jazz pianist, singer, producer, composer and rock songwriter; The Bellamy Brothers, country/pop duo; Martina McBride, country singer; Jerry Zucker, film producer, director, and writer; Partika Darbo, actor, Days of Our Lives; and James Denton, actor, Desperate Housewives.

Photographs of the jeans and the celebrities who created them can be viewed on the Komen Madison website at www.komenmadison.org. Also available on the website is a downloadable star map showing the location of each pair of celebrity jeans, a list of participating stores, and the link to the eBay auction site.

The Lee National Denim Day campaign is about uniting corporate America and individuals to raise funds for breast cancer research, awareness and education. Employees at Lee Jeans conceived the idea after many of their co-workers were personally affected by breast cancer. Now, Lee Jeans corporate implements the program with the help of local Affiliates such as Madison, Wisconsin. Companies are recruited to participate. On Lee National Denim Day, employees are allowed to wear denim to work in exchange for a $5 contribution to The Susan G. Cameron Adams, music reporterFOR a band about to disappear into an indefinite hiatus, Garbage has never sounded more alive.

On record their precise mix of electronics and rock is subtle. On stage studio subtlety is bludgeoned by rock power that blasts your ears into submission.

Celebrating their 10-year anniversary the band played to a rabid audience at the Palais last night. Debut single Vow still sounds menacing and thoroughly modern. Indeed it's not until you hear Garbage's greatest hits all performed with added force you realise how impressive their catalogue is. Singles like Queer, Only Happy When It Rains, When I Grow Up and I Think I'm Paranoid all thrill their devoted fans. Meanwhile the subversive Cherry Lips and intense Push It are songs any band would kill to have in their repertoire. Title track of their latest album Bleed Like Me shows Garbage can slow things down without losing power or focus. Imposing and enticing all at once, singer Shirley Manson is an amazing front person.

Her knowledge of their audience is such that she points out several hardcore fans in the front row. As her bandmates prowl the stage like caged animals, drummer Butch Vigs's kit is more like a pilot's console
than your average rock instrument. While he triggers samples and loops from the kit, more importantly he bangs his drums like a man possessed. If anything good comes out of Garbage's time out Manson will be just the kind of solo star we need in a world where Ashlee Simpson passes as a rock chick.

Dear worried and confused,

After reading all the bullshit out there about the future of Garbage, we felt compelled to write a few lines here to address the issue and set the record straight.

Certain journalists have taken the liberty of running wildly
inaccurate stories in recent days about our so called "break-up".
Made up out of cobbled together,out of context quotes to feed some
perverse agenda of their own,these stories are nothing more than idle
speculation and are completely inaccurate.

The truth of the matter is really simple and surprisingly hard to
misconstrue. For more than ten years, we have been in a cycle of
album-making and touring and for the first time in our history, we
have made a decision to break that cycle and take some time off.
What does that mean? We are NOT breaking up. However, we ARE taking
some much-deserved time off to spend with our families and friends.
How much time? We don't know.

This decision came as a difficult yet necessary one in order to
preserve something we hold very dear. The last ten years have been an
incredible experience for all of us and we appreciate all the
freedom, love and support you have so generously given us during that
time. We are eternally grateful to you all and we look forward to the
next chapter in all of our lives with great excitement and enthusiasm.
