If you, like me, don’t have the space or the money for a super posh barbeque you’ll probably be doing your barbeques on those disposable barbeque trays.

And there’s nothing wrong with that, but it’s not really the most attractive way to do it if you’ve got guests round is it?

Well it didn’t used to be, but yesterday I found a great little product that makes the disposable barbeque a whole lot more attractive prospect - the Asado Portable BBQ Stand.

Made out of chrome, this barbeque stand is made up of a central open rectangular section for the tray to sit in, and four legs made out of two half circles, and will lift your trays off the floor, making it perfect for taking to the park to have a BBQ, or for placing on your garden dining furniture table so you can be cooking whilst everyone is around you, as opposed off in some distant corner of the garden.

And the best thing is whilst this Asado Disposable Barbeque Stand looks like something that could have cost a fortune it doesn’t, retailing for just £9.95 at Firebox.

Blooming Direct have just launched a new Mature Plants range on their website, and I for one am a very happy bunny.

Why? Because this means I can go on buying plants for a lot longer than I could with the smaller, younger plants they were selling before, and secondly it means that a lot of the hard work has been taken out of my hands, as these plants have been matured for a year in Blooming Direct’s Jersey nurseries.

And if the range itself wasn’t tempting enough, Blooming Direct have come up with an offer for July that makes buying something from this range near irrestible - a free Salvia East Friesland plant when you spend over £25.

Also know as Meadow Sage, this Salvia plant will make a spectacular addition to your garden with it’s violety purple spikes, and will also bring in guests in the form of bees and butterflies. It has a long flowering period, all the way from June to October and you should be able to get a second round of blooms by removing the faded flower spikes as soon as they start going over.

And spending the £25 to get your Salvia plant free isn’t going to be difficult at all, as Blooming Direct have put together a huge range of mature 1 litre plants for just £7.95 each, which include blueberry plants, Clematis pots and Choisya shrubs.

Remember though if you want your free Salvia plant, you’re going to need to order your mature plants before the 31st July 2009.

Click here now to check out the new range of Mature Plants at Blooming Direct and claim your free Salvia plant.

Always fancied growing flowers from seeds but know from past experience that all you tend to achieve is one spectacular death of a plant after another?

If you haven’t managed to kill a Nasturtium flower yet then my advice would be to give these a go this Summer as this is one plant that is near impossible to kill, super easy to look after, and a complete bargain at just £2.10 for a pack of 25 seeds at Suttons where they’re being sold as part of their Fast Flowers collection.

The ideal time for planting these seeds is March to June but as long as you plant them in the first few weeks of July you’ll still likely to see flowers in just 10 weeks time, which will not only fill your garden with wonderful bright colours, but will also add some height to the garden as these Nasturtium Peeping Tom flowers grow to as much as 30cm tall.

And even if your own garden is a bit full, why not buy some to grow for friends as a more personal present than a box of chocolates or bunch of flowers from the petrol station!

Would you like to give your lawn a bit more shape but not sure how to do it without it looking like a big old mess?

The Smartedge Lawn Edging from Greenfingers has been designed with your problem in mind.

Designed to make creating neat shaped or straight lawn edges looking super smart, this product used a patented A Frame design that not only give the edging support but will bind itself to the roots of the lawn from a permanent, structural, and maintenance-free barrier that is perfectly safe to mow over.

The edging itself is made from a UV and frost proof polypropylene material meaning it will not crack or fade, and is strong enough that you will need to only pin down every third or fourth frame. You will though have to have a relatively flat lawn for it to really work as customers with more lumpy, bumpy lawns have found it more difficult to deal with.

Usually priced at £39.99, this green lawn edging is currently available for only £34.99 at Greenfingers.

Prices correct as of the 6th July 2009

If you’re looking for an easy to grow plant that is not only going to add some gentle colour to your garden, but also emit a wonderful scent then a lavender plant is a great choice.

At it’s happiest in a sunny, sheltered well drained soil, Lavender will also grow well in very dry conditions with poor soil, making it ideal for that spot in your garden where nothing else will grow.

What Is The Best Way To Grow Lavender?

Lavender can be bought in seed form but can be rather a pain to get going so my advice would be to buy yourself a lavender plant to give yourself a headstart.

Once you have that in your possession then you need to choose the right spot. The only one thing you really need to consider here is drainage, with any waterlogged spot being a big no no. As I mentioned earlier, your lavender will survive in more poorly draining soil, but would benefit from attempts to improve drainage such as adding manure, compost or gravel.

When Should You Plant Lavender?

The ideal time for planting lavender is in the months April, May or June depending on what stage you buy the plant (i.e as a lavender plug plant or proper plant), and once in pruning it back will ensure they grow to be nice and bushy. Space well apart to allow the air to circulate round them well and give them a good water till they’re established and you will soon have a garden full of wonderful smelling lavender.

If you want to grow your lavender in pots then you need to make sure they’re deep ones as the roots of the lavender are very long. Also make sure you use a soil based compost to make the earth as natural an environment for the lavender as possible and water well in the Summer when lavender plants are most prone to drying out.

What Lavender Plant Should You Grow?

Most people think all lavender is the same but there are actually a whole range of different varieties, with five of the most popular being:
1. Lavender Munstead - If you’re planning to grow lavender in pots then the dwarf Lavender Munstead is a great choice with its blue colour and wil also offer great ground cover and low screening if planted directly into the bed.

2. English Lavender Hidcote -The Hidcote variety is one of the most well known varieties of lavender and has the fragrance we all know and love so well, and like the Munstead will fare happily in both pots and straight in the garden.

Having salad leaves as part of your meal can make a refreshing, healthy addition but does have the negative of having quite an impact on your bank balance with each bag costing as much as a couple of pounds.

And the reason why most of us buy it is because we don’t have the time to plant it, wait for it germinate then wait week after week for it to grow right?

Well thanks to Suttons we don’t have to, because they’re now selling Italian Leaf Salad Speedy Seeds.

Made up of Italian Parsley, Rocket, Sweet Basil, Lettuce, Radicchio and Broccoli, this pack of salad leaves seeds is ready to eat within just 3 weeks and at only £2.10 for a massive 900 seeds is a lot more economical than those salad bags you’ve been buying, with the added benefit of not having to grow them all at once, because these seeds will germinate all the way through from March to October.

These Italian Salad Leaves Speedy Seeds are available for £2.10 at Suttons.

If you’re currently trying to pot all your plants on whatever space you can find in your shed / greenhouse or on your garden wall, then Greenfingers potting table offer is definitely something you should check out.

Styled from a Spruce / Fir wood mix this garden potting bench top overlaps the edge of the table to give you a very generous surface area to pot in, and thanks to the raised edges, you can be assured that it’s not going to end up making a mess of your shed or patio in the process.

And a huge surface area isn’t all it has to offer. This potting table has also been designed with a handy lower shelf beneath, meaning instead of having to search for your hand tools and pots all the time, you can simply grab them from below.

It all sounds pretty good so I expect there’s only one question left - how much is it going to cost you?

Well normally a wooden potting table like this would cost you £24.99, but for the month of June, Greenfingers have knocked 20% off the price meaning it’s a mere £19.99 instead.

Click here now to take a closer look and order your Wooden Potting Table from Greenfingers.
