Ziplining. I love it, but this trip was more harrowing than most – I had to zipline over a crocodile filled pit in middle of the Mexican jungle!

NO KIDDING!

We toured an amazing Mayan community known as Pacchen where we met a guide who took us on a tour through the jungle. We learned about Mayan history and ziplined over the dangerous crocs.

It was an amazing and frightening eco-adventure where my team and I learned that a jungle is not just home to wild native animals, it is a home to a wonderful people too.

Want to try a remarkably fun and low carbon way to get around while you are touring on an eco-vacation? Here my team and I were able to zip all over the Grand Palladium White Sands – an awesome eco-resort near Playa Del Carmen, Mexico – using segways.

Watch as we learn how to use the segways and explore the region. “G”, our very cool segway guide, had us up and zooming across the beach and jungle paths in no time. The resort hosts amazing views, a saltwater swimming pool, incredible sand, and the best Mai-tai’s in Mexico!

While on the tour we saw crocodiles, pink flamingos, cenotes, and ocean that stretched for eternity. What an incredible spot!

It is a great way to tour and learn more about a location while having a fantastic time. Lots of fun – be sure to go on a segway tour the next opportunity you get!

Life is filled with moments in time.

This photo is one of those moments that I was thinking about on this cold January morning. My team and I had spent a long day filming eco-adventures in Mexico, we awoke at 5 AM to spend the day hiking and snorkeling. Sore-muscle-tired, we were in Akumal Bay considering a margarita and guacamole at the local beach front restaurant, the Lol-Ha, when I looked down and saw this interesting sand sculpture.

I like to call it, “Balls of Happiness”.

It made me think that we all need to touch nature. Humans find it impossible not to play with nature. We sit in grass and make grass whistles in the summer. In the winter we shape snow into forts. While on the sand, we create art and sculpture.

Why? I think because we are are drawn to nature for the happiness of our souls. We are compelled to touch things and connect our brains with the sand in an intimate caress. Bringing health, satisfaction, and joy is what nature can do for you. Touching nature is the ultimate expression of green lifestyle living.

It is true – you can make yourself happier by touching nature. Get out in the world and make your own Balls of Happiness project. Do it today. OH – and please send me pictures, I will post them for everyone to celebrate!

Ground water and ocean water is being contaminated by oil. Change it - recycle oil and make a difference.

Most repair facilities, service stations, and quick lubes will accept used oil without charge. Check with your local government for procedures and collection services in your area.

It is important to store your used motor oil in a container that will not leak like an old milk jug with a secure cap, for instance, until you can get it to a recycling facility. Oil is poisonous and flammable, so store it away from children and sources of ignition. Do not mix other chemicals like antifreeze or transmission fluid with the oil.

Dear Corporate America --

We - meaning the American public - are living our every day lives and we need your help. When we go to the grocery store to buy a packaged product we have a few choices. 90% of the choices we are given represent non-green, non-healthy, non-organic products. That means our choice is not to purchase or to purchase the only thing available - unhealthy.

My plea is for corporate America to give us healthier choices. Packaging which is sustainable. Foods which are grown in the United States. Organic ingredients. The list goes on.

I am not asking for perfection. Most Americans find it challenging to eat wholly organic, for example. I do too. However, allowing consumers to purchase as many healthier-for-the-environment and healthier-for-our-family products as we can seems a smart way to help our economic viability return in the United States.

We are screaming for choices Corporate America. We are demanding them. Please make them happen.

Signed,

A Mother

You got a lot of new clothes for the holidays and now you do not have room to hang them. Right?

Do not throw those old clothes in the trash. Cut them up for rags, reuse them somehow, or better yet – donate them to a local resale shop so someone else in your community can get the benefits of your kindness.

Sharing your old clothes lets the holiday gifts keep on giving.
