Collaboration Block October 28th

Our next teacher collaboration block will occur on Friday October 28th. From 8:30 to 9:40 teachers will be working on curriculum design and implementation projects to enhance student learning opportunities. Students have the option of working at school or at home during this time. First class starts at 9:45.

Halloween Events!

A reminder that over the next week we will see many Halloween events at school. On Thursday night we will have a BBQ and dance. The BBQ starts at 6:30 with the dance running from 7-10. On Friday at lunch Student Government presents Bobbing for Body Parts outside of Mr. Mehrassa’s room on the courtyard hill. On Halloween Monday our annual costume contest will take place in the gym at lunch. All students are reminded that costumes need to be appropriate for school. Coupon Book Fundraiser

Garibaldi Secondary PAC presents a coupon book fundraiser. This book features coupons from the local Ridge Meadows area as well as coupons for attractions from the Fraser Valley to Whistler. The books cost only $10.00, with the PAC keeping $5.00 from each book to help support our school. Books are available in the office any time. Books will also be for sale at various school events, with our first sale night on Wednesday before Psycho Session. Please see the flyer below for more information.

October 20th Parent/Teacher Interviews Cancelled

Due to the current job action initiated by members of the British Columbia Teachers’ Federation, the conferences previously scheduled for October 20th, 2011, have been cancelled and may be rescheduled at a later date. The school day for all GSS students on October 20th will follow the regular block order, F-Adv-E-H-G, with a regular start and end time. Parents are advised that you are welcome to individually contact your child’s teacher at any time should you wish to have a discussion on matters pertaining to your child.

Please note that the Provincial Non-Instructional Day scheduled for October 21st, 2011, will still be held.

Anti-Gambling Presentation on Nov. 2nd

Grade 8 Boys Soccer in 1st Place!

Congratulations to our grade 8 boys soccer team who defeated Arch Bishop Carney 3-0 yesterday to move into a first place tie. The boys are having a fantastic season so far and we wish them well the rest of the way!

Rent-A-Grad

Rent-A-Grad fundraiser is set for October 18th at lunch in the gym. Grad Dress Up Day is on October 20th. Support our Dry Grad by renting your favourite grade 12 student and dressing them up in crazy outfits!

Urgent Information Needed!

Today your child was given a Student Verification Report, a piece of paper that allows the office to verify important contact information. It is very important that these forms are returned to the office by Friday so we can begin to update our database. Please make sure to ask your child for his/her form and send it back to the school as soon as possible.
