We here at Garment Printing realise the effects of conventional cotton farming on the environment as well as the toll it is taking on human lives. We have always been very keen on providing our customers an ethical clothing option for their t shirt printing and promotional clothing needs. We are very pleased to carry Fairtrade Organic Clothing and organic cotton t shirts, hoodies, and other organic cotton clothes for those looking to reduce their ecological impact. Please browse our comprehensive product catalogue and keep an eye open for garments marked as organic when considering an order. The planet thanks you.

For further information on organic cotton farming, please read on below.

What are the problems with conventional cotton production?

Conventionally grown cotton uses more toxic pesticides and fertilisers than any other single crop. It epitomises the worst effects of chemically dependent agriculture. Every year global cotton farmers use almost £1.7 billion worth of pesticides–an amount more than 10 percent of the world’s pesticides and nearly a quarter of the world’s insecticides.

Today’s cotton farmers typically use many, if not most, of the hazardous pesticides available on the market including aldicarb, phorate, methamidophos and endosulfan. The majority of these pesticides are organophosphates, which are pesticides that were originally created as nerve agents during World War II, and carbamate pesticides.

Cotton pesticides are not only ecologically devastating but they are also harmful to people and animals. These pesticides can poison farm workers, drift into neighbouring communities, contaminate ground and surface water and kill beneficial insects and soil micro-segments.

(Source: Panna.org)

What is organic cotton?

Organic cotton is that which is produced with sustainable materials and methods that have a low impact on the environment. Organic cotton farming eliminates the use of toxic pesticides and fertilizers, replenishes and maintains soil fertility, as well as builds biologically diverse agriculture. There are very strict global regulations on organic cotton. In the United States, federal restrictions prohibit the use of genetically engineered seed for organic farming.

According to the Organic Cotton Market Report 2009 released by Organic Exchange in May 2010, global sales of organic cotton apparel and home textile products reached an estimated $4.3 billion in 2009. This reflects a 35 percent increase from the $3.2 billion market recorded in 2008. Companies reported significant growth of their organic cotton programs, and increased adoption of standards addressing organic product traceability and sustainable textile processing. (Source: ota.com)

Why purchase organic cotton?

Protect fisheries
Runoff containing pesticides from cotton fields run into local water supplies, killing fish.

Prevent chronic health problems in Egyptian cotton workers
In the 1990s, fifty percent of Egyptian cotton workers suffered from chronic pesticide poisoning, including neurological and vision disorders.

Prevent health disorders in some of the poorest workers in the world
Bangladesh: 91 percent of Indian men working in cotton fields 8 plus hours per day suffered illnesses related to chromosomal aberrations and cell death.

Save lives
Each year, more than ten thousand Americans die from cancer associated with pesticides.

The life you save may be your own
A third of a pound of fertilizers and pesticides are used in the growth and production of every non-organic cotton t shirt you pull over your head.

Eat healthy
What’s in your biscuits & crisps? Read the labels: Carcinogenic pesticides and other additives are present in cottonseed oil and other byproducts of conventional cotton production, and our fat cells store them.

Reduce premature death and suffering
Pesticide poisoning kills 20-40,000 people a year. 3 million people suffer from pesticide-related disease. [Source: World Health Organization (WHO)].

Preserve nature’s insect predators–the good bugs
Pesticides and insecticides kill the good bugs–ladybugs, spiders, and parasitic wasps–who prey on the bad bugs. When bad bugs are prevalent, farmers’ resort to the use of poisons to eliminate them, thus the vicious pesticide circle is in full motion once again.

India is the world’s chief supplier of cotton. To further educate yourself on this subject we encourage you to watch the video below. It powerfully illustrates why the change to organic cotton production is so important to the health of farming families. It tells the sad story of Anan, a peasant farmer in southern India caught up in the vicious cycle of pesticide-dependent cotton growing. You will see the effects of heavy use of pesticides on cotton, learn how international pesticide companies exploit cotton farmers and observe the tragic consequences of these conventional growing practices on the farmers, their families and their environment.

The following table illustrates the differences between conventional and organic cotton and as you can tell, they are quite vast. Feel free to bookmark it, save it your mobile phone, or put it on your refrigerator to remind you of the importance of choosing organic cotton products.

At Garment Printing we appreciate when our customers come to us with an urgent, express order, because we understand the nature of the t shirt and promotional clothing printing industry. We cannot always meet urgent t shirt printing orders, but we do our best to try, and are usually quite effective in doing so.

Garment Printing are back for 2012, a Happy New Year to you all! We have a lot of exciting new plans coming into fruition shortly, and we want you to know about them. We’re optimising every element of our website as well as launching new and engaging social media campaigns which means a much more streamlined and richer user experience for our existing and prospective customers. We encourage you to follow us on Twitter and Facebook to stay in the know and be the first ones to find out about any announcements, contests, freebies or any other information that would be of interest to you.

To break in the New Year we are already pleased to announce our collaboration with world-renowned supermodel, Andrej Pejic, the young star taking the world by storm for his flexibility in androgynous fashion modeling. The photographer John Paul Pietrus photographed Andrej for a t shirt design and we were contracted to carry out the t shirt printing in London. As of a few days ago the t shirts are already available for purchase directly from John Paul Pietrus’ website. A few days ago Andrej tweeted:

We advise that you take a hint from Andrej if you want your hands on one of these t shirts and act quickly while supplies last.

The t shirts were printed using Direct To Garment (DTG) digital printing and came out beautifully. All parties involved were very happy with the finished product in the end. DTG digital printing was the preferred printing technique because of the multicoloured design in the photograph that was printed to the white t shirt, as well as the short run order, “cause if it’s not exclusive, what’s the point?”

At Garment Printing, we want to be sure you receive the best price for your orders… every time! To ensure this, we have created some hints and tips for you to consider when evaluating your order(s). The following list should help keep your price LOW!

For any order…

Select the right item: Garment Printing has a large selection of value, medium and premium priced items. Keep in mind that your order price will reflect the quality of your chosen garment. You can always economise cost by choosing a lesser expensive garment.

Order a larger quantity: The most significant variable in the cost of customising items is the number of items ordered. Since set up costs are allocated across all the garments in the order, increasing the garments ordered results in a lower cost per item. There are price decreases at 25, 50, 100, 250, 500, 1000 and so forth. Contact our sales team for further information.

Consider garment colour: Light garment colours will always be less expensive to print onto than darker garments. In screen printing and direct to garment (DTG) digital printing, before a dark garment can be printed onto, a white background layer has to be applied requiring either a separate screen or more ink for the printed order. Essentially, a white shirt will be more inexpensive than a black shirt.

For Screen Printing orders…

Reduce the amount of colours in your artwork/design: Screen printing charges increase as the number of colours in your artwork increases. If you reduce the number of colours, you not only reduce your set up fees for the entire order, but you also lower your price per item.

Reduce the amount of locations that you are printing on: Every location you choose to print on carries a set up fee and a printing cost per item. This is because each location requires it’s own set of screens and separate printing process. By reducing the locations, you will reduce the number of set up costs and printing costs per item.

For Embroidery orders…

Reuse logos you have embroidered before: The information assembled to produce an embroidered logo is digital and can be saved. This means if you use that same logo again for the same size embroidery, you don’t pay set up again unless you change the size.

Decrease the size or density of your logo: Size and density drive the “stitch count” required to produce your logo in embroidery. If you decrease the size of your logo, the number of stitches will also be reduced, decreasing the cost to embroider each garment in your order.

One of the many charities that we have the privilege of working with is the Cure Cancer at University College London (UCL) Charity.

We thought we would pass along this charity fundraising event being organised by Cure Cancer at UCL, a charity dog walk in London on the 4th of December with Dima Yeremenko. The event takes place from 13:00 to 15:30 in the afternoon at The Pavilion Café in Sunny Hill Park (London). The Pavilion Café will provide refreshments and the cost of entry is only £15. Further information can be solicited directly from the event web page.

The charity event has only one week left to go and the weather forecast for London, United Kingdom, is anticipating a high of around 9 degrees with mostly sunny skies. It is going to be a beautiful London winter day, so please get out there and support a great cause while getting you and your dog some exercise! We enthusiastically encourage that you print your own personalised t shirts for the event. Garment Printing is proud to offer a discount to you if you tell us it is for this London charity event. We would also like to kindly remind you that we also print t shirts for dogs! How brilliant is that?

So come on, London! What are you waiting for?

Ho, ho, hurry up! With the holiday season just around the corner we have been very busy processing loads of orders to meet the high season t shirt printing demand around London and the UK. While businesses, families, and individuals scurry about the nation planning their holiday celebrations and buying gifts and t shirts for loved ones and colleagues, it seems that t shirt printing and personalised clothing are a popular item once again this year. It’s the season to be printing tra la la la la…la la la la…

So far we have taken t shirt printing orders from companies planning Christmas parties and end of the year celebrations that want to celebrate their special occasion with festive t shirt designs for them and their employees. Customised t shirts are just perfect for the gift. One particular t shirt printing London client was a company having an Ugly Christmas printed Sweater inspired event where they printed off ugly Christmas sweater designs onto t shirts selected by the employees. We thought this was a brilliant idea and had a lot of fun working with them. Some families in London too have ordered printed t shirts and personalised clothing for family portraits this holiday season. We’re also receiving orders for more conventional holiday designs on t shirts and personalised clothing rendering the likeness of Santa, reindeers, Christmas trees, ornaments and other printed symbols of the season. Whether you are a business in London or the UK, a family, or individual; Garment Printing is here to help you fulfill all of your t shirt printing and personalised clothing needs this holiday season!

Want to do something new and exciting this Christmas for your employees? Throw your own Ugly Christmas Sweater party. We can help you!

Another client wanted to print t shirts all about London and they put our design team to the challenge.
What is unique about London and Christmas?
What t shirt printing London ideas could we suggest?
Is London the coolest city to be at during Christmas?

The end result will be a t shirt printing London competition for all our fans and friends…it’s going London mad…and that means it’s going T shirt Printing London Mad…but we love it…we just love to print…

Another idea…

Would you like to make a family portrait t shirt this year to send out to family and friends? Personalise your own t shirts and clothing for you and your family to wear that will look great and provide you and your children (and pets) memories never to be forgotten.

Need some gift ideas? Nothing is more thoughtful than taking the time to personalise an article of clothing, a t shirt for example, for a loved one, friend, or colleague that they will appreciate and cherish for many years.

Please feel free to contact us for more information. From all of us at Garment Printing, we wish you all very happy holidays and safe travels this season.

We can now offer this machine to specific orders for our t shirt printing and garment printing services.

Kornit makes the highest quality state of the art direct to garment (DTG) digital printing machines for t shirts, polo shirts, hoodies and much more. Very few printers in the United Kingdom (we know of only one competitor) have access to this top end DTG t shirt printing machine, and we are very happy to offer its DTG t shirt printing services to our esteemed clients for t shirt printing services and much more.

What is so special about this DTG digital t shirt printer?

Most direct to garment DTG digital printing machines can only print on standard cotton and cotton blended textiles, whereas the Kornit printer can handle materials like denim, leather, polyester, lycra, and silk amongst other materials. Can you believe this? It prints onto all types of materials. Not just t shirts and not just cotton…

It’s the t shirt printing dream, the t shirt customisation god, the garment printing machine of machines. It naturally prints onto light and dark garments too.

All DTG digital printers require the pre-treatment of garments before being printed, typically done with a manual spray gun. The Kornit machine, however, applies pre-treatment automatically through an automated process. It’s a beast! Kornit printed garments cannot be cured using a traditional heat press like is the norm with other machines. It requires a higher velocity air dryer that results in a much higher quality print both similar in look and feel to a screen printed garment. The Kornit’s automated pre-treatment and air drying system produces a higher quality printing job as well as durable print that will maintain its vibrant multicoloured design and not fade after washing. This is just what we need for our t shirt printing clients in London and the UK, as well as our international clients.

An issue common to DTG t shirt printing which is not experienced by the Kornit machine is instability by the print heads of the printer. Often gases can penetrate into the inks, which disturb the printing head’s nozzle, thus affecting the production quality of the final t shirt or garment print. The Kornit machine uses vacuum packed cartridges with degassed ink that does not cause this issue.

Other printers without access to the Kornit machine will not be able to offer the same quality product because their machines require manual pretreatment and a heat press to cure their garments and t shirts. Not to say the other DTG machines are useless, far from it, but the Kornit’s superior components, and the speed at which it prints, is the reason why at Garment Printing, we had to make room for this DTG printing machine. Speed of production is what stands us out from the rest. And quality of service too! Express, fast, and urgent turnarounds are important to all our retail fashion online t shirt printing stores. So as we grow, so do our clients.

Screen Printing for t shirt printing, or any garment printing needs:
Originating in the 1950’s, screen printing is the process of creating a stencil of a design, placing it in a silk mesh screen, then using a squeegee or roller to push the inks through the mesh onto the garment and t shirt. A different screen is used for each colour in the t shirt design; once all the colours come together the result is a high quality, durable, fantastic looking printed garment or t shirt. T shirt screen printing is perfect for large garment designs up to A3 or A2 size. Screen printing involves set up costs for producing the screens so we recommend using this method for orders with 25 items or more. And if you have lots of colours in your design, then perhaps even from 50 or more items. Contact one of Garment Printings customer services team and we will give you all the advise you need about your t shirt printing and garment printing or embroidery needs. Whether you need t shirt printing services in London, the UK or within Europe, garment printing are ready to help with all your printing needs. Express printing which includes same day t shirt printing, even with t shirt screen printing…we can help with it all…We Love To Print.

Embroidery for embroidered clothing, embroidered t shirts, embroidered polo shirts and much much more…
Embroidery offers you a long lasting, professional finish at a very reasonable price. This is more subtle than printed t shirts in some cases, and suits the corporate market well, creating a quality club or business brand identity and branding staff uniforms and corporate workwear. Embroidered clothing is highly versatile; the design can be stitched on to almost any garment (so long as the stitching in quite tight knit) using a computerised embroidery machine. It is important to remember that a design may need some alteration in order to achieve the best results for t shirts and embroidered clothing. Large designs can be expensive.

Every design for embroidered t shirts, embroidered polo shirts, embroidered hoodies, and in fact all embroidered clothing – the design needs to be digitized. This means it needs to be converted into a file format suitable for embroidery machines. This creates a file format suitable for embroidered clothing and also provides a stitch count. When we have this stitch count we can provide a quotation for your embroidered clothing needs.

Direct to Garment (DTG) t shirt printing and garment printing.
Direct to garment t shirt printing offers the latest technology in digital t shirt and garment printing. With this method, we can produce full colour printed t shirts on dark and light garments and t shirts in seconds and minutes. Offering full colour t shirt printing images and highly technical artwork with multiple colours. This technology of t shirt printing is replacing the tradition transfer t shirt printing approach, it is more durable and nicer quality. This method can be used to print on both light and dark t shirt fabrics and garments, with precise results. Recommended for small volume jobs up to 25-50 units, but sometimes on larger volume t shirt printing needs with ultra detailed colours, and its great for stag and hen do’s t shirt printing needs for example. The finished result is durable and long lasting however does not offer the quality of the screen printing method.

Our latest addition to our t shirt and garment printing fleet of printing DTG direct to garment printing machines is the Kornit Breeze:

Transfer Printing for t shirt printing and garment printing services
First used in the 1750’s for printing china and pottery, transfer printing, is where we apply an image (printed on to specialised transfer material) to the fabric using a heat transfer press. Traditionally it is the most cost effective means of producing shorter runs of garments and for t shirt printing, but as DTG printing machine technology evolves, this may well soon change. It offers you a choice of full colour designs onto white and dark garments and t shirts. Although we choose where possible not to offer Transfer Printing onto dark garments unless the logo or design is small, otherwise its quite a think material and DTG may be better. For any queries contact garment printing and they will advise you. It is superb for printing photos, numbers, names or web addresses. Ideal for stag or hen do’s and sports teams.

We hope this has helped you and if you have any enquiries just get in touch.

At Garment Printing – WE LOVE TO PRINT!
