The unemployment rate is 10.2% and I need to know why our country is not creating and keeping jobs? Could it be our shift to a service economy from a manufacturing base? Could it be massive outsourcing? What about the remarkable number of manufacturing jobs overseas?
Is Obama to blame?

Fruits and vegetables probably won't get picked, because sugar and colorful wrappers win every time. Chicago Public Schools makes the decision to serve Fruit Loops, Pop Tarts, and donuts or breakfast.

With children opting for straight sugar instead of natural foods, the sadness continues with a child's choice to eat twice the recommended amount of high fat, high sugar content foods. This defeats the purpose of children eating breakfast for health reasons. Frankly, this looks like a key marketing ploy for large companies who want their brands to be programmed into children's minds, for future loyalty. The sugar is addicting and so is the brand recognition.
Reduce gym time, add sugar, and wonder why behavioral problems persist? Free breakfast is great, if we're feeding them the right stuff.
If a person has 15 prior convictions for driving on a suspended or revoked license, should the individual be in prison, on house arrest, or roaming freely? Tonight on GML, we will have the grandmother of Kim Brown on the show. Kim Brown, a mother of 5, and pregnant, was struck at a bus stop by a collision caused by an alleged motorist under the influence of cocaine.
Call me tonight at 877-358-CLTV. What are your thoughts on DUI?
Shocking statistics hit me today concerning 30 years of national data. The Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine released an analysis food stamp recipients and it appears that 49% of all U.S. children and 90 percent of Black children will be on food stamps at some point durign childhood.
Although I was taken aback initially, these stats aren't hard to grasp. A family of four, with take-home pay not exceeding $22,000 per year, is eligible to receive food stamps. There are thousands of families in this situation and we must be sympathetic to the needs of our children.
Two issues: are children, whose parents receive food stamps, getting adequate nutrition? And do we have to stimulate the economy so that fewer Americans are recipients of food stamps?
Call me tonight with your thoughts on food stamps and the American dream. 877-358-CLTV. Cornell sociologist, Thomas Hirschl and Chicago Food Bank Executive Director, Kate Maehr, join Garrard for the conversation.
Thank you for all of your letters of prayer and for the many condolences sent to my family. You make us feel appreciated and God's grace is shining in the midst of the tragedy.
