LG has officially announced the new V10, a premium phone in the V series and also the first in the series. While on the specs front, the phone is very similar to LG’s flagship phone, the G4. But at the same time it also comes with some unique features and one of them is the dual display. This is the first time LG is coming up with dual screens. The main screen is a 5.7-inch QHD display and just above that is a much smaller “always on” screen which does some additional tasks. When the main screen is off, the second screen can display the weather, time and date, and battery level.

And when the main screen is turned on, the second screen can be used to for quick shortcuts which can be accessing contacts, or serve up notifications. While this is similar to the Edge display on Samsung phones, the implementation on LG seems to be much better.

<img

The LG V10 features 5MP Dual Front Cameras with two separate lenses to capture standard 80 degree selfies or perfect wide angle selfies of 120 degrees, without the need to pan the smartphone which increases the likelihood of camera shake. The rear camera is 16MP with F1.8 Aperture and OIS 2.0 which is similar to G4.

The V10 comes with resilient Dura Guard frame which firmly secures the display to protect the phone from hard bumps and tumbles. The phone comes with 64GB internal storage along with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. It also comes with support for 4G LTE. There is a 3000mAh battery which is removable. The phone comes in Space Black, Luxe White, Modern Beige, Ocean Blue and Opal Blue colors.

<img

Pricing is not announced as of now, but expect a more premium pricing compared to the G4.

Copyright © 2005-2013 <br

After the success of budget phones like Lenovo A6000 Plus and A7000 and also mid-range Lenovo K3 Note, the company had announced their budget 4G LTE enabled phone, the Lenovo A2010 in India few days back. The Lenovo A2010 comes with a 4.5 inch FWVGA display (854 X 480 pixels) and the phone is powered by 1 GHz MediaTek MT6735M 64-bit Quad Core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM.

The device also comes with 8GB internal storage which is expandable to 32GB via micro SD card. This is the cheapest 4G LTE device from Lenovo in India. Here is the detailed review of the phone.

Here is the video review of the phone.

Design and Build:

Design wise, the Lenovo A2010 is a decent looking smartphone which does not offer anything new in terms of design in the budget segment. The phone comes with three capacitive buttons, typical of Lenovo. The rear panel has a matte finish and houses the 5MP camera along with flash, Lenovo logo and speaker located at the bottom. The power and volume keys are on the right side. The 3.5 mm audio jack and micro USB slot are located on the top portion.

The front panel has 2MP front camera and the 4.5 inch FWVGA display. Since the phone has only 4.5 inch display, it is pretty compact device to hold although it is not slim. Overall, it is decent device in terms of design and build.
Display:

The Lenovo A2010 comes with a 4.5 inch FWVGA display (854 x 480 pixels) and the display quality is pretty poor. It is not just the low resolution which is an issue on A2010, the display quality of the panel is also poor and there is no protection on the display. The touch response was also not very smooth and was sticky to our liking. The colors look washed out and the sharpness levels are way too low.

There is also no ambient light sensor which means you need to manually increase the brightness when you go outside. Overall, we were pretty disappointed with the display quality on the A2010.

Software:

The Lenovo A2010 runs on Android 5.1 with the custom Vibe UI from the company. While there are lots of similarities with the Vibe UI on other devices, the UI on A2010 is a stripped down variant considering this is a smaller display and a budget device. The notification center is a custom one with quick toggles included.

The Vibe UI looks different from the stock Android. The UI does not come with app drawer and has multiple home screen which you can customize.

<img

But you can change wallpapers and add widgets to the device. The phone also comes with few apps from Lenovo which includes Sound Recorder, FM Radio, Portable Hotspot, Syncit and Shareit.

Overall, the UI is just average and does not offer anything new.

Performance:

Lenovo A2010 runs on 1Ghz Quad core Mediatek processor with 1GB of RAM. The performance of the device was just average and is good only for causal usage. If you push it hard with multiple apps with heavy usage, it does show some lag.

The device offers 8GB internal storage and out of which 4.5GB is available to user in the first boot. You can also extend the storage via micro SD card. The phone also allows you to install or move apps on the SD card which is a very handy feature. The phone does not supports USB OTG.

The gaming experience on the device was just average. While it was able to play most of the games, the poor quality of the display provides poor gaming experience. Multi tasking is implemented in Android Lollipop way and switching between apps was decent although not the best performance.

Watch: Lenovo A2010 Gaming Review

The call quality of the phone was pretty good and we didn’t have any issues with dropped calls. The output from the rear speaker was just ok, but since the phone has a slight bend on the rear panel, it does not affect the music performance even if you keep the phone on flat surface. Overall, the phone provides decent experience for causal usage.

Camera:

Lenovo A2010 comes with a 5MP rear camera with fixed focus and LED flash and a front facing 2MP camera. The camera interface offers decent features and looks similar to the interface on most Mediatek powered phones. While the camera is just 5MP, the phone offers 1080p (Full HD) video recording. The photos taken using the device lacked detailing and the colors look washed out most of the time. The photos were noisy even when taken in bright sunlight. The fixed focus makes things worse for the camera when taking close up objects. The low light performance was pretty poor and were mostly noisy.

The video recording was also not great on the device and lacked details. Overall, the camera on the Lenovo A2010 disappoints. Here are some of the samples taken with the device.
Battery Life:

The phone comes with a 2000mAh battery and the battery performance is decent overall. With average usage which includes calls, browsing, social networking and few snaps with the 5MP shooter, we could easily get a day of usage on the device which we feel is quite good for a budget device.

Verdict:

Priced at Rs 4999, the Lenovo A2010 is one of the cheapest 4G LTE enabled phones in India. The issue with A2010 is that the hardware is pretty low on most counts when competition offers better specs at the same price. But having said that Lenovo A2010 could be your secondary phone just for calls and casual browsing.

Welcome to part 5 of my common blogging questions series. It’s been an awesome journey and I hope you’ve been able to gain much needed information from this content. If you have any feedback or comments, please don’t hesitate to add them in the common box below. Many of the questions being answered within this series were sent to me directly from my readers through email or comment feedback. These are the most common answers you need to start building your blog and grow it over time. Let’s get started…

Why Do People Prefer WordPress Over the Others?

Currently, there are 3 blogging platforms popular in the market, WordPress, Drupal, and Joomla, with each of them offering their own customizations. However, people are looking for the easiest solution when setting up their blog so it’s important they use a platform easy to install, etc. Next, many bloggers don’t have the coding skills to go around customizing their website so it’s important they have a plug n’ play interface. WordPress has gained popularity for providing people with exactly this, an easy to use interface with millions of plug n’ play plug-ins. No matter what you’re trying to achieve through your blog, it’s much easier with WordPress than other CMS platforms. However, this doesn’t mean you should close off your mind to Drupal and Joomla because each has their own perks. You really need to sit down and figure out what you’re trying to achieve, then make your final decision.

What’s the Best Way to Find Relevant Twitter Followers?

Here’s a good strategy to implement when building your Twitter followers. By now, many of the top bloggers in your niche have a Twitter account. In my niche, which is “SEO marketing”, the influential people have 50,000+ Twitter followers, which make them a good source to find relevant people. When setting up an account, it’s important to fill in your profile, making it as relevant as possible to your competitors. Add name, description, URL, etc., and then start by visiting the Twitter profiles of authority people in your blog. Why? Their followers most likely will be interested in your content and blog so will make a good fit when they follow you back. Next,

Start slow, adding 10 relevant followers a day, where you’ll obviously find from competitor accounts. Next, try to set up groups and start by posting your best content so they know you’re valuable within your niche.

Should I Invest in Facebook Ads?

The answer to this question will depend on your niche and marketing budget. Facebook has an awesome advertising platform because it allows you to geo target, select age group, interests, etc., however, it can be very expensive at the same time. If you have money to spend on marketing, there are other cost effective methods like hiring a solid SEO team, paid directories, PPV, and banner ads. Facebook.com should be checked out and if you decide to throw an advert up, then do a trial run. Start small and track your results to find out if you are getting high conversions where you’re actually making more money than you’re spending.

What are Trigger Action Words?

Trigger action words are placed within the “call-to-action” to create a conversion. First, a “call to action” is text, image, or anything else showing the visitor how to take advantage of the offer or additional resource. You’ve probably seen these words appear on landing pages or other forms of content…

Buy Now

Free Trial

Download Now

However,

In my experience, there are some words that work better than others. The words you use should depend on what you’re offering. For example, for product sales, the term “free trial” converts well because it gives people a chance to try something before purchasing. If you’re offering a free eBook, then use the term “Download Free Now” so they know you aren’t charging for the download. Others that also work well are “click here”, “Read Now”, etc. Before making your decision on what text you’d like to use, research your product and what you’re trying to achieve.

What are Your Thoughts on Contact Forms?

It’s very important to add a contact page and form to your website. It helps improve your identity on the website and adds to your legitimacy. It’s even more important for local businesses because people prefer to do business with those that have a way of contacting them. Google Places has made it no secret that they use contact page information to help optimize you in the SERP’s. Contact information provides the much needed proof that you’re a business and how people can get a hold of you.

If you want a simple answer, then here it is…

I recommend everyone to have a contact page and form on their website. It’s great for credibility, engagement, and optimization.

DPI scaling is not working in Windows 10 as it was in Windows Vista, 7 and 8.1.

If you have a monitor with with a resolution of 1920×1080 or higher, in Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 8.1 you would put your DPI scaling to 125% or higher to make text and images appear larger and more easy to read. But when you put the DPI scaling to 125% in Windows 10, you see in a lot of dialogs and windows the font gets very blurry.

Windows 10 is using another scaling method for DPI as in Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 8.1. It is probably meant to support mobile devices more easy. So if you want to fix this issue, here is a simple freeware tool called XPExplorer- Windows 10 DPI Fix.

Just run this app and then use the Windows 8.1 scaling and fix the blurry text issue on Windows 10. The app needs to start when Windows starts and then it will adjust the DPI scaling to use the Windows 8 way. And then it will close itself.

Important point when using the app:

It needs to start when Windows starts, but only for a couple milliseconds. Then it will adjust the DPI scaling to use the Windows 8 way. And then it will close itself.

In Microsoft Edge some Adobe Flash objects will appear smaller, but you can simple overcome that by using Internet Explorer 11, or Chrome, or FireFox.

Android 6.o Marshmallow out of the box. While the Nexus 6P is made by Huawei is the powerful device out of the two, the Nexus 5X is made by LG.

The device pricing starts at $379 for Nexus 5X and $499 for the Nexus 6P for the US market. Now, Google has also revealed the Indian pricing of these two devices. The Nexus 5X starts at Rs 31,990 and the Nexus 6P starts at Rs 39,999 according to the Google store details.

Related Reading: <a rel="nofollow"

Considering that the official pricing is out, we feel the Nexus 5X is a bit over priced for the specs especially the 16GB variant which does not even have SD card. There are lot better choices available in India including the OnePlus Two and other flagships.

But we need to wait for the confirmation from Google on the pricing of different variants. The Nexus 6P at Rs 39,999 looks much better deal considering the Motorola Nexus 6 was priced close to Rs 44,000 when it was released last year.

In case you missed the specs of the new Nexus, the Nexus 6P comes with 5.7-inch Quad HD display at 518 PPI and it is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 810. The device has 3GB of RAM and comes with 32GB, 64GB or 128GB storage variants. There is also 12.3MP rear camera with LED flash, f/2.0 aperture and a 8MP front-facing camera along with 3450mAh battery.

The cheaper Nexus 5X comes with 5.2-inch 1080p (Full HD) display and is powered by an Hexa-Core Snapdragon 808 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. The phone also comes with 16GB and 32GB internal storage without an expansion slot. The battery capacity of the 5X is at 2700mAh. It has a 12.3MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, laser auto focus and a 5MP front-facing camera.

Both the devices have fingerprint scanner and comes with Android 6.0.

Copyright © 2005-2013 <br

My driving videos are done with a very loud convertible sport car, and I film them with the top and windows down. With a normal camera, there would be so much background noise that you would have a hard time hearing me speak. I’ve always said that great video starts with great audio. If your audio sucks, it won’t matter how great your video is. Therefore we should do everything possible to make sure our audio is of the highest quality.

To show the effectiveness of great audio, I created the two videos below. The top one was made with the built-in mic of the GoPro Hero4 Black Edition. The bottom video was filmed with the GoPro, but the audio was recorded using the Tascam DR-22WL digital voice recorder and Giant Squid Audio Lavalier Mic. The audio was synced to the video in post production using Final Cut Pro X. The final result speaks for themselves.

The Trascam DR-22WL can be had for less than $150 and the Giant Squid Audio Mic sells for $49. If you want to save some money, you can get the MIC-J Lavalier Mic for $26. It’s cheaper because it’s made in China. The Giant Squid is made in the USA. It really is amazing that for less than $200, you can now get audio quality that would have cost over $10K only a decade ago. Get the setup, and go make your own top-down driving videos.

In some cases, we will receive the product for free for review purposes, or just to use. In some cases, we have used that product to our personal satisfaction in our own businesses.

IMPORTANT: Always Always ALWAYS do your OWN due-diligence before making any purchases, whether we recommend them or not. Never, EVER purchase anything that you cannot afford. Avoid purchasing products that do not have a clearly stated Guarantee, or that promise ridiculous results, like “Getting Rich Quick”. Most people don’t do anything with the products they buy, and most of the time, their results are zero – kind of like that Bowflex that I bought that is now serving as a clothing rack… No, there is no such thing as a “Free Lunch”. Don’t do drugs, stay in school, etc. Be safe out there!

Now it is in smaller type and at the very bottom (same text as above but a screen shot to put it in perspective):

So be compliant but have fun with it.

Also of important note I must disclose I am not a lawyer and you should always consult with one before taking action on this.

S’more to love across all your screens

From your watch to your phone to your TV, we want to help you stay connected, entertained and informed across all your screens. Today we’re introducing a few new things that do just that: two Nexus phones, a tablet for work and play, updates to Chromecast and features for some of your favorite apps—all working together to make your day a little bit easier and more fun.

New Nexus phones
We made Android to be an open platform that anyone can build on, and today there are 4,000+ Android devices in all shapes and sizes. Android’s diversity is why it’s become the most popular mobile platform in the world, and the latest version, Marshmallow, takes Android to a new level of performance.

While we love all the Android devices out there, every year we build Nexus devices to show off the latest and greatest, directly from the people who built Android. Today we’re introducing the latest Nexus treats, both running Marshmallow, sweetened by amazing apps and sandwiched by some cutting-edge hardware (see what we did there?):

Nexus 6P is the first all-metal-body Nexus phone. Built in collaboration with Huawei, this 5.7” phone is crafted from aeronautical-grade aluminum, with a USB Type-C port for fast charging, a powerful 64-bit processor, and a 12.3 MP camera sensor with massive 1.55µm pixels (hello, better photos!). The Nexus 6P starts at $499.

You’re not the only one who misses your Nexus 5. We’ve joined forces with LG to bring it back with the new Nexus 5X, which gives you great performance in a compact and light package, with a beautiful 5.2” screen and the same 12.3 MP camera and Type-C port as the Nexus 6P. Nexus 5X starts at $379.

Both phones include a new fingerprint sensor, Nexus Imprint, which gives you quick and secure access to your phone, as well as use of Android Pay (in the U.S.). They are available for pre-order on the Google Store from a number of countries, including the U.S., U.K., Ireland and Japan, and come with a free 90-day subscription to Google Play Music. In the U.S., pre-orders include a $50 Play credit to help you stock up your favorite music, apps, games and shows. And, finally, for you Project Fi fans out there, you'll be happy to know Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X will work on your favorite network. Request an invite to our Early Access Program at fi.google.com.

Pixel C
We’re expanding the Pixel family by introducing the first Android tablet built end-to-end by Google. The Pixel C brings together the benefits of a full-size keyboard with the portability of a tablet. The tablet and keyboard attach magnetically (no docking mechanism FTW), so it’s easy to switch between typing and using the touch screen.

And if you’re familiar with the Chromebook Pixel, you’ll immediately see the family resemblance: the Pixel C has the same beautiful aluminum design, great display and USB Type-C port. The Pixel C will be available in time for the holidays on the Google Store.

Cast ALL the things
Today we’re introducing two new Chromecast devices. The new Chromecast has a fresh design, and is easier to plug into TVs with crowded ports. It supports the latest Wi-Fi standards and adapts more easily to changing Wi-Fi conditions in your home, so you get higher quality video with less buffering. Most importantly, we added two new colors. ;)

Chromecast Audio is a small device that plugs into your existing speakers, so you can stream your favorite music, radio and podcasts over Wi-Fi, similar to Chromecast. It works with tons of apps, including Spotify, Pandora and Google Play Music. Just like Chromecast, it works from anywhere in your home with your favorite devices, including Android, iOS, and laptops. And it’s available on the Google Store and other online retailers for just $35—way less than most Wi-Fi speakers today.

We’ve also updated the Chromecast app to make it easier for you to find great things to watch or to play, across the thousands of apps that work with Chromecast—whether you feel like browsing or want to search for a specific TV show or movie. For Cast-enabled apps that aren’t already on your phone, we’ll suggest one for you. The updated Chromecast app is rolling out on Android and iOS over the next few weeks.

Your favorite apps... for the whole family
All your shiny devices get even better when you have great apps to go with them. So we’re making a few updates to Google Play Music and Google Photos.

First, Google Play Music will offer a new family plan later this year. Up to six people will be able to use one account for a shared fee of $14.99 a month (instead of $9.99 per person). Get the dance party ready.

Sharing is a theme of today’s Google Photos updates, too. We’re adding Chromecast support to give you that old-school slideshow experience—dimmed lights optional. In the U.S., you can now add private labels to your photos to make it easier to search for specific pics of people with things, places or other people—say, that photo of Mom at the Grand Canyon, or of your daughter with her pet bunny. And soon you’ll be able to pool all your photos and videos with friends and family in one place, and get updates as soon as new photos are added. Best of all, there’s no setup involved, and you can use any device. So that dance party we mentioned earlier? Now it’s easier to gather all the memories from everyone who was there.

More to love, for more people
From Nexus to Chromecast to Pixel C to Photos, these updates are more than the sum of their parts—they unite great apps with devices that are designed to support them. They’re built to work together, so they do—seamlessly, across all your screens.

Posted by Hiroshi Lockheimer, VP Android, Chromecast and Chrome OS at Google

Big ideas for an even better Bay Area

Converting a liquor store into a community-based learning and tutoring center. Providing millions of dollars of 0% interest loans to small businesses. Breaking the poverty- to-prison cycle by building a residential alternative to prison for young adults. This is just a sampling of the big ideas that local nonprofits submitted for our second annual Google Impact Challenge: Bay Area.

Today, after reviewing hundreds of submissions, we’re unveiling 10 finalists chosen together with our panel of advisors—a group that includes the San Francisco Chronicle’s Editor-in-Chief Audrey Cooper, The Golden State Warriors’ Harrison Barnes, The San Francisco Giants’ Hunter Pence, and CEO of the San Francisco Foundation, Fred Blackwell.

Representing San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, Santa Clara, San Mateo and more, these organizations span the Bay Area. Learn more about these groups and their ideas for change:

This year, finding and funding new ideas will be just one part of the Google Impact Challenge: Bay Area. We are also reinvesting in a few of our 2014 finalists. The Ella Baker Center, Beyond12, Lava Mae, and Bay Area Community Resources in collaboration with Instituto Familiar de la Raza all were funded last year, and will receive between $250,000 and $1,000,000 in additional funding this year. We’re very pleased to continue supporting organizations focused on homelessness, youth employment, and racial justice—big problems that Google.org works to tackle with local organizations, year-round.

What happens next is in your hands! Anyone can vote for the new projects they think will have the most impact on the Bay Area. Again, the top four will receive $500,000 in grant funding, the remaining six will get $250,000 each. 15 additional organizations will each receive $100,000 and all nonprofits will be connected with Googler volunteers and coworking space in San Francisco. We’ll announce winners on October 21.

To vote, visit g.co/bayareachallenge or check out one of our voting stations across the Bay Area.

When creative, socially-conscious minds and the Bay Area’s innovative spirit join forces, big things can happen. Congratulations to all finalists, and best of luck the rest of the way!

Posted by David Drummond, Senior Vice President of Corporate Development, Alphabet

With over 300 million blogs in the world today, you need to create something pretty special to be able to stand the test of time while also standing out from the crowd. Where most new bloggers go wrong with their sites, is their initial planning.

In this article we are going to break down a simple seven step formula that will greatly improve your chances for finding success in the world of blogging. Each of these seven steps are from the Blogging.org’s infographic titled “7 Steps to Creating a Successful Blog from Day One” and is also shown at the bottom of this article.

Whether you are a starting a blog for the first time or already several months or years into an existing blog, the good news is that there is always time to make improvements and to see better results from content creation, outreach and ranking higher in the search results.

Follow These 7 Steps to Build the Foundation for a Successful Blog

Without further ado, here’s a quick breakdown of the seven step process every blogger should take when planning the launch of their new site.

Pick Your Topic – The topic and focus of your blog is extremely important. Not only is it about the content that you create for the site, it’s also about how you are going to provide value, brand yourself as an expert and down the road, how you make money with your site. When choosing a topic, try to go as niche as possible.

Create Your Avatar – The people who visit your blog are known as your ‘avatar’. The more you know about your audience, the better you can create and cater content to their needs. Know your audience and you will find success!

Domain Name and Hosting – One of the best ways to set your blog off in the right direction from day one is to get setup with a unique domain name and quality web hosting. While there are free blog hosting alternatives out there, many of them will keep you limited on what you can do with your blog, and you will also never have full ownership over your site and content.

Content Creation – Content creation is the substance of your blog. It’s what people are going to see in the search results, and find value in when they actually read it on your site. Focus on creating high quality content, and not just content.

Blog Launch – When all of the pre-planning is done and in place, it’s time to finally launch your blog for the world to see. Create a few blog posts before promoting your blog and also take some time to spruce up your theme, enable some top WordPress plugins and make your blog your own. No one likes to visit a site with little value or substance, make sure yours is ready before promoting it.

Content Promotion – Content promotion is key to finding success with a blog. Spend more of your time on outreach, social promotion and gaining high quality backlinks versus just creating content. The more your blog content is out there, the more traffic and success you will find.

Monetize – With a high traffic blog and all of your killer content now in place, it’s time to start looking at your monetization options. Google Adsense is a great option for newbie bloggers, while other methods like affiliate marketing and production creation is better for more advanced bloggers. No matter how you are going to make money with your site, make sure you are still providing value in the process.

Bonus Tip: LEAD GEN & SALES FUNNELS

I wanted to add in a special bonus step as well, which would have to be a lead generation and sales funnel. This has been the driving force behind the success of JohnChow.com. No matter what happens in the search results and social media, as long as John continually drives people to his mailing list, he will have a system in place that works for him 24/7. You can listen to John’s story here and learn more about how he creates his automated mailing lists and sales funnels.

Follow these simple steps and you will find success in the world of blogging. The most important things to remember are to niche down as much as possible, focus on creation quality content and then putting in the time and effort to promote your content once it’s published.

Welcome to part 4 of our blogging series. We’ve been going over some of the most common blogging questions and have covered serious ground. These questions are directly from my blog and were submitted through visitors through comment box or contact form. I’ve included questions that are relevant to both beginners and experienced bloggers. The answers come straight from my experience and the tips I’ve used to grow my blog throughout the years.

If you have any feedback or questions, please post it in the comment box below. Let’s get started…

Does my blog design really matter?

Blog design is very important and a solid design will increase the user engagement on your blog. Google has also stated a well-thought out design can help boost rankings within the SERP’s. Here are some elements to pay attention to…

First, ensure content is easy to find by adding a clear navigation menu. Next, a solid internal linking structure is great for visitors to find other relevant content leading to increased social shares, etc. A solid internal structure will also help index your website better and increase page authority. Next, make sure your layout is well thought out with statistics showing a right-sidebar as having the highest conversion rate. Next, a load speed below 3 seconds of optimal to increase user engagement and boost rankings. The last thing Google wants to do is display a slow loading site high within the SERP’s. This hurts user experience and de-values the search engine.

How do you moderate spam?

If you’re like a majority of bloggers, then you’re probably using WordPress and have customized it to suit your needs. WordPress has more than enough plugins that will take care of the spam problem. These plugins can be customized to perform moderation tasks that fit your preference. Here are the two popular ones I recommend…

Akismet – When you first install WordPress, this plug-in is installed and simply needs to be activated. The plug-in is very simple as it automatically detects SPAM and will send it to the designated folder. However, it’s important to keep a close eye on the emails it sends through.

GASP – This plug-in is picking up in popularity and the interface is very easy to use. The plug-in will add a cap-tcha to your comment form. Having a captcha will ensure that no bots can send through spammy comments and emails, etc.

Should I use free or premium themes?

I get this question many times and my answer is very simple: It’s depends on what you’re trying to accomplish and your budget. Because blog design is very important to increase user engagement and decrease bounce rate, I would recommend exploring both options. For example, all themes whether FREE or premium can be customized but if you lack the basic CSS skills, then a premium theme might be the right choice for you. Next,

If you’re simply blogging for yourself, a simple FREE theme will be able to handle your requirements. If you have a budget and can invest some money into premium themes, then that’s an awesome option. Keep in mind that you should consider the purpose of your blog and what environment you’re trying to provide for your audience.

What social networks drive the most traffic to a blog?

From my experience, you should devote your time and effort into the big 3-4. The social networks that have proven to be successful in growing my blog are Facebook.com, Twitter.com, Google+, etc. These networks have millions of users each month and your effort will yield greater results when engaging on them. Next, it’s important to learn how to use the interface effectively before starting your campaign. Always focus on relevant followers, using the right #hastags and posting the highest quality content. You’re going to be up against enormous competition and the ones who succeed will be those who effectively engage with relevant people.

Next,

Use tools like Google Analytics and Bitly.com to track where most of the clicks are coming from. This way, you can direct your focus to only those 1-2 social platforms.

How did you add the social sharing buttons on your posts?

Over the years, I’ve experimented with a lot of different types of social buttons. First, it’s very important to have social buttons above and below your posts. Next, social engagement can boost your traffic 5x within a very short period of time. Social media has changed the way people find and share content online so it’s important you leverage this trend right away. Next, if you’re using WordPress, you’ll have enormous options in terms of plug-ins, however, I would stick to the most recognized like AddThis.com and ShareThis.com. They have been in the business for years and offer a WordPress interface as well. Next,

It important to use a plug-in that provides complete stats on clicks, content ratio, trackbacks, etc. Knowing this data will help you make a more informed decision when posting content within social platforms. The cool thing is installing these plug-ins will be done automatically as soon as you configure the plug-in. The installation will automatically add the required code within the pages and you simply configure it after. That’s all!

Bring virtual reality field trips to your school with Google Expeditions

At the Bronx Latin School in New York City, teacher Katrina Roman says the topic of ancient history doesn’t usually set students abuzz. But this week, they took a field trip to ancient Aztec ruins using Google Expeditions, a virtual reality teaching tool built with Google Cardboard. Normally, their assignment would involve poring over photocopied photographs, but instead, they stood at the top of Chichen Itza, then examined detailed carvings at Tenochtitlan. Amid “oohs” and “aahhs,” the students shouted out details they noticed and shot hands up to answer Ms. Roman’s questions.

Katrina Roman’s class at the Bronx Latin School fills out their assignment after visiting Aztec ruins with Expeditions. The class is part of a history and geography pilot with New Visions for Public Schools.

Starting today, we’re bringing this experience to thousands of schools around the world with the new Expeditions Pioneer Program. During the 2015/2016 school year, we’ll be bringing “kits” containing everything a teacher needs to run a virtual trip for their class: ASUS smartphones, a tablet for the teacher to direct the tour, a router that allows Expeditions to run without an Internet connection, and Google Cardboard viewers or Mattel View-Masters that turn phones into virtual reality headsets. Although nothing replaces hopping on the bus for a field trip, there are some places that are just out of reach (hello, Chichen Itza!). Virtual reality gives teachers a tool to take students places a school bus can't.

To help teachers learn how to use Expeditions, we’ll be visiting thousands of schools around the world and bringing the kit for teachers to use in their classes for the day. Up first: Australia, Brazil, New Zealand, the U.K. and the U.S., followed by more locations as the school year progresses. At each school, our team will show teachers how Expeditions works and help set it up before class.

Right now, teachers can choose from a library of 100+ virtual trips to places like Mars, the Great Barrier Reef and the Great Wall of China. But we’re constantly adding more trips with the help of partners like PBS, educational publisher Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, British documentarian David Attenborough in collaboration with Alchemy VR, and the Wildlife Conservation Society. We’re also working with the Starfish Foundation to help students explore future careers by showing them a virtual day in the life of professionals including a veterinarian and computer scientist. And to help students achieve those career goals, we’re working with First Lady Michelle Obama to support her Reach Higher initiative by taking students on virtual college tours.

And if you see one of these cars on the road, that's us!
Bringing the Internet to more Indians—starting with 10 million rail passengers a day

When I was a student, I relished the day-long railway journey I would make from Chennai Central station (then known as Madras Central) to IIT Kharagpur. I vividly remember the frenetic energy at the various stations along the way and marveled at the incredible scale and scope of Indian Railways.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Googleplex today

I’m very proud to announce that it’s the train stations of India that are going to help get millions of people online. In the past year, 100 million people in India started using the Internet for the first time. This means there are now more Internet users in India than in every country in the world aside from China. But what's really astounding is the fact that there are still nearly one billion people in India who aren’t online.

We’d like to help get these next billion Indians online—so they can access the entire web, and all of its information and opportunity. And not just with any old connection—with fast broadband so they can experience the best of the web. That’s why, today, on the occasion of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to our U.S. headquarters, and in line with his Digital India initiative, we announced a new project to provide high-speed public Wi-Fi in 400 train stations across India.

Working with Indian Railways, which operates one of the world's largest railway networks, and RailTel, which provides Internet services as RailWire via its extensive fiber network along many of these railway lines, our Access & Energy team plans to bring the first stations online in the coming months. The network will expand quickly to cover 100 of the busiest stations in India before the end of 2016, with the remaining stations following in quick succession.

Even with just the first 100 stations online, this project will make Wi-Fi available for the more than 10 million people who pass through every day. This will rank it as the largest public Wi-Fi project in India, and among the largest in the world, by number of potential users. It will also be fast—many times faster than what most people in India have access to today, allowing travelers to stream a high definition video while they’re waiting, research their destination, or download some videos, a book or a new game for the journey ahead. Best of all, the service will be free to start, with the long-term goal of making it self-sustainable to allow for expansion to more stations and other places, with RailTel and more partners, in the future.

This map shows the first 100 stations that will have high-speed Wi-Fi by the end of 2016

We think this is an important part of making the Internet both accessible and useful for the more than 300 million Indians already online, and the nearly one billion more who are not.

But it’s not the only piece. To help more Indians get access to affordable, high-quality smartphones, which is the primary way most people there access the Internet, we launched Android One last year. To help address the challenges of limited bandwidth, we recently launched a feature that makes mobile webpages load faster and with less data, and we’ve made YouTube available offline with offline Maps coming soon.

To help make web content more useful for Indians, many of whom don’t speak English, we launched the Indian Language Internet Alliance last year to foster more local language content, and have built greater local language support into our products—including Hindi Voice Search, an improved Hindi keyboard and support for seven Indian languages with the latest versions of Android. And finally, to help all Indians reap the benefits of connectivity, we’ve been ramping up efforts to help women, who make up just a third of Internet users in India today, get the most from the web.

Just like I did years ago, thousands of young Indians walk through Chennai Central every day, eager to learn, to explore and to seek opportunity. It’s my hope that this Wi-Fi project will make all these things a little easier.

Posted by Sundar Pichai, CEO, Google
