Jennifer Ann "Jenny" McCarthy (born November 1, 1972) is an American model, comedic actress, author, and activist. She began her career in 1993 as a nude model for Playboy magazine and was later named their Playmate of the Year. McCarthy then parlayed her Playboy fame into a television and film acting career. She is currently a co-host on the ABC talk show The View.

Phil Everly of the Everly Brothers dies at 74

Phil Everly, who with his brother, Don, made up the most revered vocal duo of the rock-music era, their exquisite harmonies profoundly influencing the Beatles, the Beach Boys, the Byrds and countless younger-generation rock, folk and country singers, has died. He was 74.

Everly died Friday at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank of complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, his wife, Patti Everly, told The Times.

"We are absolutely heartbroken," she said, noting that the disease was the result of a lifetime of cigarette smoking. "He fought long and hard."

During the height of their popularity in the late 1950s and early 1960s, the Everly Brothers charted nearly three dozen hits on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, among them "Cathy's Clown," "Wake Up Little Susie," "Bye Bye Love," "When Will I Be Loved" and "All I Have to Do Is Dream." They were among the first 10 performers inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame when it got off the ground in 1986.

"They had that sibling sound," said Linda Ronstadt, who scored one of the biggest hits of her career in 1975 with her recording of "When Will I Be Loved," which Phil Everly wrote. "The information of your DNA is carried in your voice, and you can get a sound [with family] that you never get with someone who's not blood related to you. And they were both such good singers — they were one of the foundations, one of the cornerstones of the new rock 'n' roll sound."

Robert Santelli, executive director of the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, said Friday, "When you talk about harmony singing in the popular music of the postwar period, the first place you start is the Everly Brothers.... You could say they were the vocal link between all the 1950s great doo-wop groups and what would come in the 1960s with the Beach Boys and the Beatles. They showed the Beach Boys and the Beatles how to sing harmony and incorporate that into a pop music form that was irresistible."

"What beautiful music Phil and Don Everly gave us," Chris Hillman, founding member of the Byrds and the Flying Burrito Brothers, told The Times on Friday. "I owe them so much, and they truly inspired Gram Parsons and myself in our early adventures together."

Vince Gill, the 20-time Grammy-winning country singer and guitarist, said in an interview with The Times on Friday: "I honestly believe I've spent the last 40 years, on every record I've been part of for somebody else, trying to be an Everly. On every harmony part I've sung, I was trying to make it as seamless as Phil did when he sang with Don. They had an unfair advantage — they were brothers — but I've spent my whole life chasing that beautiful, beautiful blend."

That blend consisted of Don's lower voice typically handling the melody line and Phil adding flawless harmony a few notes above.

Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel started their singing career as an Everlys-inspired duo, calling themselves Tom & Jerry. On Simon & Garfunkel's multiple Grammy-winning 1970 album "Bridge Over Troubled Water," they covered the Everlys' first hit, "Bye Bye Love."

"When Artie & I were kids," Paul Simon wrote in Rolling Stone in 2004, "we got our rock & roll chops from the Everlys."

In 1976, Paul McCartney name-checked them in his post-Beatles hit single "Let 'Em In."

But their sibling rivalry was as intensely contentious as their sibling harmonies were celestially sweet. They often fought off stage, and sometimes on, and in 1973 famously called it quits in the midst of a performance at Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park. Both had struggled with substance abuse issues during the '60s, and when Don showed up to the show drunk, Phil smashed his guitar and walked out, ending their professional relationship.

For years they didn't speak to each other, but after a decade pursuing separate solo career paths, they decide to reunite and played widely acclaimed concerts at London's Royal Albert Hall in 1983, resulting in their first charting album in a dozen years, "The Everly Brothers Reunion Concert."

The following year, McCartney wrote the Everlys a hit single, "On the Wings of a Nightingale," for "EB 84," their first studio album in more than a decade.

They recorded two more studio albums during the 1980s — taking on songs by esteemed rock songwriters such as Bob Dylan, the Beach Boys' Brian Wilson and Dire Straits' Mark Knopfler — before going their separate ways once again. They remained estranged for much of the last two decades.

"Don and I are infamous for our split," Phil told Time magazine in 1986, "but we're closer than most brothers. Harmony singing requires that you enlarge yourself, not use any kind of suppression. Harmony is the ultimate love."

When they played a few shows in the '90s, the tension was still in play.

"We give each other a lot of space," Don Everly told The Times in 1999 when they played a couple of shows in the Southland. "We say hello, we sometimes have a meal together.... Everything is different about us, except when we sing together. I'm a liberal Democrat, he's pretty conservative."

Philip Everly was born Jan. 19, 1939, in Chicago, about two weeks before older brother Don turned 2. The children of two musicians, Ike and Margaret Everly, Phil and Don early on began singing on their parents' radio show in Iowa.

Shakira & Usher To Replace Christina Aguilera - Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green will not participate in Season 4 of the show, which is expected to air in Spring 2013, in order to resume their music careers.

Aguilera was quoted in the release as saying, "Since this year NBC and The Voice have decided to tape back-to-back seasons, requiring a full-year commitment, it is important for me to take season four off, allowing me to support my music that my fans have been waiting for."

She premiered a clip of her new single "Your Body" on Monday night's Voice and has a next album, Lotus, arriving later this year; Green has a residency at Las Vegas' Planet Hollywood that he has already delayed once to allow him to film The Voice.

Replacing Aguilera and Green on the coaching panel will be Grammy Award winning artists Shakira and Usher. Adam Levine and Blake Shelton will continue on as coaches for Season 4.

However, it's important to note that both Aguilera and Green also indicated their intentions to return for the show's fifth season, which would air in Fall 2013. Said Green in the same press release, "I will be back for season five.". (sources from starpulse).

Novelty in Fashion and Style at Cannes Festival 2012 - The red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival is generally acknowledged as one of the most fashionable spots in the world. Fashion trends and style statements are as much a part of an evening's entertainment at the famous town in France as films and art are.

The 65th edition, which began on 16 May, started with long, floor-length sweeping gowns as the order of the day. While that trend continues, it is interesting to note the many variations in colour and plumage that each celebrity sports. From the dazzling golden Atelier Versace that 74 year old star Jane Fonda sported on the first day to the colourful range of dresses Mistress of Ceremonies Berenice Bejo has shown off, the red carpet has been, as ever, absolutely the place to be.

On days four and five, the stars of fashion were British singer Cheryl Cole in a white and red Stephane Rolland Couture gown and French actress Isabella Huppert, who was also present for the screening of her film Armour. Huppert looked like she had stepped out of a fairy tale, dressed as she was in a brown silk outfit.

We remember that Spanish actress Paz Vega tried something similar to Cole on the third day - she came in a white dress with a black tail. However, that had a more formal look about it. Also striking was Lily Cole, who was there for her film Confession of a Child of the Century, in a blue gown with a thigh-high split and a black fur coat.

Bejo, meanwhile, came in a coral and sea foam pleated gown with a bodice decorated with floral embroidery, a multi-coloured number that was extremely pleasing to the eyes. Actress Delphine Chaneac wore a pretty ballerina-like number, with spiky stilettos and flowers on the dress' body. Hollywood actress Naomi Watts was also in attendance and arrived attired in a rather regal manner, with a skin-coloured gown.

However, the truly standout dress of the event so far, we feel, must be the one Jane Fonda wore (not the Atelier Versace, though). We refer to the Stella McCartney black and white gown that literally created illusions of space, or the lack of it, before your eyes; an outfit that will certainly not be forgotten.

Billboard Music Awards 2012 Worst Dressed PHOTOS - The 2012 Billboard Music Awards was held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena at Las Vegas, Nevada. While a few A-list celebrities dressed to impress, not all of tinsel town's' finest earned praise from paparazzi and fans alike.

Take a look at the worst dressed celebrities who made it to the 2012 Billboard Awards.

Pop Superstar, Miley Cyrus, has been making a statement with her red carpet appearances. Yet, the 19-year old chosen outfit for the Billboard Awards rubbed the wrong way.

The "Can't Be Tamed" singer donned a Jean Paul Gautier dress that un-flaunted her curves. Though the dress highlighted Miley's frontal assets, Miley's hair and the nose ring uncharacteristically trashed Miley's whole look.

Going overboard with the beaded attire was Nelly Furtado. The 33-year old wore an Alberta Ferrari dress that did no justice to her curves. Nelly paired off the look with weird mirrored studs and nude pumps.

"New Girls'" Zooey Deschanel could have pulled off her vintage inspired getup if it weren't for the black tights. With summer still fresh in the air, Zooey should have just ditched the black leggings and showed off her toned stems.

Model, Chrissy Teigen's red hot ensemble could have been considered hot if not for the structured detail. Teigen's Georges Chakra Couture didn't do much in flaunting the model's curves and instead it made Teigen appear like a red hot statue.

It looks like Rihanna's really got a thing for the ladies. The Bajan R&B star hasn't been tied to a man since her semi-secret relationship with Chris Brown and her short lived fling with Ashton Kutcher, but recently she's shown an interest in the fairer sex. In a message posted on Twitter late Monday night, Rihanna wrote she could "turn a square into a bi," and that's a RiRi guarantee.

This isn't the first time in recent history we've seen RiRi lean towards women over men. She recently stepped out on a "date" with her female friend Melissa Ford, posting on Twitter that is her "first date in almost 2 years." She also posted photos of herself getting wild with what looks like two female strippers at a dank and dark nightclub on Instagram.

Rihanna also recently uploaded a topless photo of herself to Instagram as her profile picture, in which her nipples are barely covered by her own arms. Is the photo a dig at her ex-Chris Brown and his current girlfriend Karrueche Tran? It could easily be, and it wouldn't be the first time. Rihanna even went as far as to post a photograph of a package of rice cakes 'wearing' bangle earrings and sunglasses, a jab at model Karrueche's Vietnamese heritage and signature style.

What ensued was an all out online flame war between over Chris Brown. The tug-of-war climaxed when Rihanna's fans started sending Tran threatening text messages, causing her to be too scared to leave her house alone.

Despite claiming to be through with Chris Brown romantically, and only interested in collaborating professionally with her ex, Rihanna just can't stop tweeting out suggestive messages and risque pictures to make Breezy jealous.

Relationship expert' Diana Falzone told Hollywood Life that RiRi needs to stop acting so desperate for attention online.

"Using Twitter to get your ex jealous is a bad idea," the story reads. "Rihanna is an A-list superstar and yet her tweets make her look desperate for her ex... it's totally normal to be upset and want to vent your emotions however do not use social networking sites like Twitter to do so."

The “One Less Lonely Girl” crooner definitely didn’t disappoint his followers, as both the track and the treatment were top-notch.

Set on a Los Angeles rooftop, among other spots, Bieber’s video sees him getting flirty with a girl who somewhat resembles his real-life main squeeze Selena Gomez.

The video’s director, Director X, explained, "You know, I guess Justin has a type that he likes, so hey, you know, there you go.”

One of the song’s producers Mike Posner shared that working with Justin was quite the gig. "Justin's super hands-on with his music. He comes up with amazing melodies — that's what I was most impressed by. We'd put on a beat or something, and he goes into a booth, and he freestyles these melodies, and they're crazy."

McCluskie went missing from her Bethnal Green, east London home on the 1 March 2012. Former EastEnders actresses Martine McCutcheon and Brooke Kinsella tweeted about her disappearance in hope of getting information about her whereabouts. The actress Natalie Cassidy also raised awareness of her disappearance. The headless and limbless torso of a woman was recovered from Regent's Canal near Broadway Market in Hackney, east London on 6 March 2012 and was later confirmed to be the body of McCluskie.

The brother of former EastEnders actor Gemma McCluskie, whose headless torso was found dumped in a canal, has been charged with her murder.

Tony McCluskie, 35, of Hackney, has been charged with his sister's murder after her remains were found floating in Regent's canal in East London on Tuesday.

Detectives believe she was killed after attending the opening of the Royal London hospital in nearby Whitechapel.

The 29-year-old's disappearance was reported to police two days after she went missing. Her torso was found close to Broadway Market in Hackney after being spotted by a member of the public.

The discovery came after officers had expressed concern for McCluskie's welfare and searches were organised by her cousins Kyri Sambridge and Nikki Tsindides, with missing person posters put up across London's East End.

Friends handed out leaflets and McCluskie's former EastEnders co-stars Natalie Cassidy and Brooke Kinsella appealed on Twitter for help in finding her.

Tributes, flowers and candles from McCluskie's friends and family marked the spot where her remains were found with messages expressing shock and sadness.

Tony McCluskie is due to appear at Thames Magistrates' Court on Monday..

Whitney Houston's family devastated by National Enquirer's - Whitney Houston’s family is upset over an open casket photo the National Enquirer published, claiming the photo was of Houston before she was laid to rest.

Sources close to the family told TMZ that the Houston family had "their heart broken all over again" this week after the tabloid published the photo and put it on its cover.

The sources also told the website that the photo is indeed of Houston and are horrified that someone was able to breach security and snap the photo. The family also believes whoever took the picture was inside the funeral home, but do not know who could have done it.

While the family is not planning on looking further into the matter, the owner of the Whigham Funeral Home is insisting neither she nor her staff were the ones who took the photo.

Carolyn Whigham told the New York Daily News Friday that she is “horrified” by reports accusing her of taking the picture.

“We did not take that photo. We did not sell the photo. We would never do something like that,” she said.

“Whitney was a friend. I’m the one who flew to Los Angeles and got Whitney from the coroner’s office. I did everything to protect her.”

She added that she has received several emails from Houston’s fans threatening her and that she is “worried about my employees, worried about me. I’ve been in business since 1943. This is my name, my character. Honestly, this is my life’s work. We would never do something like this.”

Elizabeth Smart and Matthew Gilmour Wedding - Smart, 24, who was kidnapped from her home in 2002 at age 14, has been involved with 22-year-old Gilmour, of Scotland, for about a year. They met in France when they were both doing Mormon mission work a couple years ago.

Elizabeth Smart, a young woman from Utah, who was kidnapped when she was 14-years-old, has married her Scottish fiancé in Hawaii just one month after getting engaged.

Smart, 24, married earlier than planned to avoid wide-spread media attention that has been attached to her ever since her nine-month kidnapping.

The young Utah woman first made headlines as a teenager when she was held captive by a street preacher who forced her into a polygamous marriage and raped her.

Smart met her husband, Matthew Gilmour, while she was doing Mormon missionary work in Paris, according to the Los Angeles Times.

“Elizabeth’s desire was for what most women want – to celebrate her nuptials in a private wedding with family and close friends,” Chris Thomas, a family spokesperson said in a statement. “She decided, about a week ago, the best way to avoid significant distraction was to change her wedding plans and to get married in an unscheduled ceremony outside of Utah,” he added.

The private wedding ceremony was held at the Laie Hawaii Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and attended by a small group of family and friends.

“It’s everything you can imagine with planning a wedding,” Smart told People Magazine exclusively. “Only, it’s compressed into a few days.”

The bride and groom where gleaming after the ceremony, according to Thomas. The couple is set to go on an extended honeymoon in a location that has not been disclosed.

In 2002, Smart was kidnapped at knife point by Brain David Mitchell. The homeless preacher forced Smart to move from town to town for nine months, while an extensive search warrant was conducted in Utah following her disappearance. She was raped repeatedly during this time, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Smart was freed in 2003, after being spotted in Salt Lake City. Mitchell was convicted of the kidnapping in 2010 and sentenced to life in prison.

Since her rescue, Smart has been active in advocacy work for crime victims, founding the Elizabeth Smart Foundation, which aims to protect children from abuse. She is a graduate of the Brigham Young University.
