It is completely unfurnished tho, meaning it will most likely get the 2nd hand Ikea treatment, since I don't know where to score 2nd hand Indoensian teak wood furniture nor scavenger hunt expat moving sale deals in Taiwan. Heck I would put clothes over boxes and pretend they are coffee tables to live in that apartment. <p /> Ok fine, there are some sites: <a href="http://www.forumosa.com">www.forumosa.com</a>, <a href="http://www.tealit.com">www.tealit.com</a> and the very lightly used <a href="http://taipei.craigslist.com.tw">taipei.craigslist.com.tw</a>. But the lack of corp expats in Taipei spells doom for my 2nd hand furniture search. Besides 1 or 2 bros, don't think our crew have really grown up yet. It doesn't look like we will get there for another 3 yrs. In its absence, I bought a-jays four, drawn mostly due to its design: flat cables & matte rubber parts. It helped that the reviews were mostly positive. <p /><div>After a few months with a-jays four, and now another few months with UE 600vi, this is my verdict: UE 600vi is here to stay. a-jays four may look nifty, but I have tried unsuccessfully to make it fit my ear and secure a snug fit for better sound isolation. the silicon tips a-jays ship are not that great. I tried Comply tips that came with UE 600vi. Didn't really help. Tried the clear silicon tips too, those helped a-jays four fit my weird ears a little better. But still, over extended period of time listening, the ergonomics of the four really doesn't help its case. The rubber casings get too close to the ears. Kinda miss Singapore after I churned this out. Disclaimer: this is not my 'fave' list.<p /><b>Bars</b><br /> Scenic:<br />- Ku De Ta on top of Marina Bay Sands<br />- Lantern at Fullerton Bay Hotel<br />- One Altitude at OUB Building in Raffles Place<p />Chill Area<br />- Blu Jaz and the surrounding Arab Street/Haji Lane area<br /> - Brewerkz & The Pump Room at Clarke Quay<br />- Em Bar @ Gallery Hotel, Robertson Quay<br />- The Merry Men,  Bar Bar Black Sheep, at a quiet stretch down the river from Em Bar @ Gallery Hotel<p />Clubbing/Lounge:<br /> - The Royal Room:  lounge with club music, drinks<br />- Club Filter/Mink:  clubs, booking recommended <p /><b><br />Food</b><br />Local Food:<br />- Newton Circus Food Centre:  closest to town and very popular. Also have quite a few tourist trap stalls. I tend to go only for this ‘carrot cake/蘿蔔糕’ store… I think the name is ‘榮’, not 100%, it’s run by a husband and wife team, and I only get the ‘white version’. The other shops I go to there are this fishball noodle place in the corner and a minced pork noodle shop by the entrance from parking lot<br /> - Old Airport Food Centre: on the fringe of town, near the Stadium, this place is pretty famous among locals. Good Chinese style satays, during the day it has one of the best 粿汁 in town. The ‘Hokkien Mee’ (Singapore style, not Penang) is also well-liked. Lor Mee is also good but not open at night. Mattar Road Seafood stall serves very good crabs, white pepper, chili crabs… as well as good BBQ stingray and other seafood.<br /> - East Coast Park Lagoon Food Centre: this is the hawker centre near the seafood restaurants in the East Coast Park, next to an artificial lake with cable skis. Very popular also.<p />Local Restaurants:<br />- Boon Tong Kee: this is a chain of chicken rice restaurants in SG. 2 more prominent locations; one on River Valley Road and the other on Balestier Rd. Decent chicken & home-style southeast asian Chinese dishes.<br /> - No Signboard: seafood restaurant, also with multiple outlets in SG. Got his message about 10ish for a "milk fish" lunch. Could kinda guess what it was, anyway I was in. Wanted to go somewhere else than the usual spots around the office. <p> It can't beat the real thing you can have down in Tainan. But overall pretty light and tasty. Would recommend the fish belly if this is your thing. It was closed for business and we were redirected to its sister store down the street, 大隱酒食. Good Taiwanese home-style food. There are plenty of shops like this now, selling traditional Taiwanese fare in a nostalgic setting. I typically eat this sh*t up, since I like things with a bit of "Taiwanese flavor". The grilled "air-dried over night" fish lived up to its many recommendations. Father's favorites, 蒜泥鮮蚵油條&酸菜薑絲炒大腸, were done with more polish than the usual "fast fry" joints. Would come back again despite some service issues.</p> <p>After dinner, we walked around the neighborhood, father's old stomping ground.
