Challenges overcome: This was an extremely large project which was carried out to a tight programme meaning we needed a large installation team to meet the build schedule.

Paintworks is an eclectic mix of one and two bedroom apartments, three and four bed houses plus live/work units, some Riverside, in the Arnos Vale area of Bristol known locally as ‘The Paintworks’.

The development is just half a mile from Temple Meads train station and will enhance the already established community of Paintworks benefitting from small light industrial units, arts and crafts galleries and a restaurant/pub all with the unusual and hugely popular urban/ warehouse type feel.

Malmesbury Nursing Home

In 2016/2017 we carried out the full mechanical installation on a new 49 apartment nursing home in Malmesbury, Wiltshire on behalf of Bouygues UK.

The installation included:

Gas fuelled district heating scheme
Combined Heat & Power boiler
Heat Interface units
Underfloor heating and LST radiators throughout
Full plumbing and sanitary ware installations
Full ventilation/heat recovery system
Sprinkler system
Dry risers
Boosted cold water
Air conditioning to communal areas

St Michaels Court –Wilmot Dixon / PfP

We have recently completed a small contract of 24 apartments at St Michaels Court, Kingswood for Places for People. The properties had all recently had new gas meters installed and we were appointed to carry out the works to remove the existing night storage heating system and install new high efficiency gas central heating to each apartment. All works were completed over a period of 8 weeks with Potterton Promax boilers and Stelrad radiators installed throughout.

Orchard House, Shirehampton – Places for People Sheltered Housing Scheme

Gas World have been working in conjunction with Boxed energy, who have funded a scheme to complete the replacement of a communal heating system to a supported housing scheme in The Orchards, Shirehampton Bristol.

The property is owned and managed by Places for People and this is the first such installation in the South West where Boxed energy have provided such funding. Funding for the scheme is provided by Boxed Energy to pay for the new heating system and maintain it over a period of 20 years.

During this time, the fuel bill for the heating system will remain fixed at a rate based on the existing energy bills the customer was receiving prior to the new installation. These bills are now paid to Boxed energy who in term pay the current heating bills for the 20 year period.

Given the new heating system is more efficient and provides cost saving on the energy used, the surplus is then used to pay back the funding for the initials installation plus the incurred interest. The scheme works as there is no initial outlay for the housing association for the new installations and the bills remain constant for the duration of the life of the install.

Westbury on Trym Methodist Church, Bristol – H Sweet & Sons

We have recently completed the conversion of an existing toilet and meeting room within the Westbury-on-Trym Methodist Church to accommodate new Male, Female and Disabled toilets plus a new Kitchenette. The works were carried out on behalf of H Sweet & Sons and required new soil and waste to accommodate new bathroom layouts, concealed cisterns for toilets & urinals, water heaters to supply all sink outlets and low surface temperature radiators added to existing heating circuit.

Gas World Christmas Jumper Day

Gas World had their own Christmas Jumper day on Friday 16th December. All those wearing their Christmas jumpers paid £2 into the charity pot with any Grinchs who didn’t dress up paying £5. All funds raised are going towards our official charity the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Redcliffe Parade, Bristol

Redcliffe Parade, Bristol

November has seen Gas World commence work Redcliffe Parade West, order an attractive Georgian parade in the Redcliffe area of Bristol which is being developed by a joint venture on behalf of Change Real Estate and the Canon Family Office.

Most recently used for office accommodation, the property comprises six town houses which have listed status, and a modern office building to the rear. Overlooking the floating harbour, Redcliffe Parade West is situated close to St Mary Redcliffe Church, and a short walk from Bristol Temple Meads Station.

Integral have been appointed as lead contractor on the development in which they are going to build 30 high quality residential dwellings. Plans include a mix of 1,2&3 bed apartments with associated car parking and communal facilities.

As we are carrying out the full M&E package, the works are being carried out under our Laneway partnership banner which is our joint venture company with Jeff Way Group.
