Work Profile: Selected candidates will be on training for a period of one year in “G2” grade and confirmed to Senior engineer upon satisfactory completion of the probation and training.

Emoluments:

During Training: Rs.22000-46500/- with the initial Basic Pay of Rs.22000/- per month plus usual allowances as stipend
After confirmation: Rs.22000-3%-46500/- with the initial Basic Pay of Rs.22660/- p.m. plus usual allowances

Cost To Company:

During Training/Probation: Around Rs. 7.8 lacs+ accommodation/HRA (30% of basic)
After Confirmation: Around Rs.9.0 lacs + accommodation/HRA (30% of basic)

Service Bond: Selected Candidates will be required to execute a bond to serve KRIBHCO for a period of three years after completion of training. The bond amount will be Rs.2 lakhs for General/ OBC Category and Rs.50,000/- for SC / ST candidates.

What’s New in GATE 2013 ?

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering and Technology. GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven IITs (IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. The GATE score of a candidate reflects the relative performance level of a candidate. The score is used for admissions to various post-graduate programmes (eg. M.E., M.Tech, direct Ph.D.) in Indian higher education institutes with financial assistance provided by MHRD and other Government agencies. The score may also be used by Public sector units for employment screening purposes. Read more about GATE.

PSUs Offering Recruitment through GATE 2012

This is the result of high number requests from reader to write a detailed post on PSUs recruiting based on GATE 2012 scores. First let me tell you what is PSU is? Public Sector undertaking (PSU) is a Government owned corporation or a company in which Union Government or State Government have more than 51% share. Basically these are Government companies operate like private companies and give profits to Government.

As of now, according to my research few PSUs are offering jobs based on GATE 2012 scores. This gives another good reason to start thinking about applying for GATE 2012 and prepare seriously. As GATE exam is taking a new direction, in future many PSUs are expected to recruit based on GATE scores.

In the year 2012 till now three PSUs advertised their recruitment based on GATE 2012 scores. Details are below.

Power Grid Recruitment Through GATE 2012

POWERGRID, the Central Transmission Utility (CTU) of the country and a Navratna Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, Govt. of India is engaged in power transmission business with the mandate for planning, co-ordination, supervision and control over complete inter-State transmission system and operation of National & Regional Power Grids.
In the year 2012 Power Grid will be recruiting on basis of GATE 2012 scores. Vacancies are available for reserved and unreserved categories.

Age Limit: 28 Yrs as on 31.12.2012

Educational Qualification:
Full Time B.E./ B.Tech/ B.Sc (Engg) from recognized University/Institute in Electrical/Electrical and electronics/Power Engineering with minimum 65% or Equivalent CGPA.

AMIE degree in Electrical with minimum of 65% with both Sections A & B cleared by 31.03.2012
Final Year / Semester students who expect their results by 31.07.2012 are also eligible, provided they have obtained 65% marks or equivalent CGPA in aggregate of all semesters/years up to pre-final examination.

Selection Procedure:
The Selection Process consists of GATE – 2012 score, Group Discussion & Personal Interview.
Eligible candidates will have to appear for the Electrical Engineering (EE) paper of GATE Exam -2012. Candidates shall be short-listed for Group Discussion & Personal Interview based on their score in GATE Exam – 2012 and as per the criteria decided by the Management.
GATE score of 2011 or prior is not valid.

Compensation Package: Cost to company during one year training 6.6 Lakhs per annum, after training 12.09 Lakhs per annum.

BHEL Recruitment Through GATE 2012

BHEL is recruiting Engineers Trainees in 2012 based on GATE 2012 score. Total number of expected positions are 800 for various disciplines. Opened positions for Mechanical are 550, Electrical (175) and for electronics (75). These branches are broadly mentioned and also covers few other specific branches. Eligibility Conditions:
Bachelor degree holders in Engineering/Technology ( 4yrs after 10+2) or Five year integrated Master Degree or Dual Degree programme in Engineering or Technology in Mechanical/Electrical/ Electronics Engineering.
Engineering Degrees from professional societies like UPSC/AICTE/AMIE equivalent to BE/BTECH in Mechanical/Electrical/ Electronics Engineering.
For the above disciplines for the post of Engineers Trainee, candidates with Engineering Degree in some other disciplines will be considered, for which they will, however take the GATE-2012 exam in one of the relevant BHEL advertised discipline. Refer to official website for more details.
Final year students are eligible to apply. However if they selected, they must be in a position to submit their final marks sheet by 20.08.2012.

AGE Limit:
27 for Greaduates in Engineering and Technology and 29 for Postgraduate or Engineering or Business Admistration.
Candidates born before 01.08.1983 are not eligible
There are relaxations for OBC/SC/ST and other categories.

How to Apply:
The website to apply online will be opened on 04.01.2012 follow the procedure mentioned on the website. We will also give updates and video for filling online application form.
Application fee in Rs. 100/- for General and OBC category.

Selection Procedure:
The candidates will be shortlisted for interview on the basis of GATE 2012 score in order of merit in the ratio of 1:3 to the number of vacancies in each discipline and category.
Final selection panels shall be prepared by assigning a weightage of 75% for GATE 2012 score and 25% to interview marks.

Salary/Compensation: Cost to company (CTC) is 7.5 ~ 8.8 Lakhs per annum

Postgraduate Admissions with MHRD Scholarship

GATE2012 MHRD Scholarship

As per the directives of the MHRD, the following procedure is to be adopted for admission to postgraduate programmes (Master and Doctoral) with MHRD scholarship/assistantship. The performance of the candidate in GATE will be considered for admission. If the candidate is to be selected through interview for postgraduate programmes, minimum 70% weightage is to be given to the performance in GATE. The remaining weightage (30% maximum) can be given to the candidate's academic record or performance in interview. Candidate opting for a general paper (XE or XL) may be further examined (by interview/written test) by the admitting institution. In such cases also the weightage for performance in GATE should not be less than 70%. The admitting institution will prescribe minimum passing percentage of marks in the interview. Some colleges/institutes specify GATE qualification as the mandatory requirement even for admission without MHRD scholarship/assistantship.

Candidates are advised to seek details of admission procedures and availability of MHRD scholarship/assistantship from the concerned admitting institution. The criteria for postgraduate admission with scholarship/assistantship are different for different admitting institutions. GATE offices will not entertain any enquiry about admission and award of scholarship/assistantship.

It is the responsibility of the admitting institution to award the MHRD scholarship/assistantship to only those candidates who secured marks equal to or more than the "qualifying mark" in the concerned GATE paper and for the corresponding category of the candidate . The management of the postgraduate scholarship/assistantship is also the responsibility of the admitting institution. The GATE committee also has no role in the award or disbursement of scholarship/assistantship. Similarly, reservation of seats under different categories is as per the policies and norms prevailing at the admitting institution and Government of India rules.

A candidate declared "GATE qualified at the time of admission" is entitled for MHRD fellowship for 24 months unless he/she loses it due to poor performance in the registered programme.

The students of Integrated Master Degree and Dual Degree programmes in Engineering/Technology are eligible to appear in GATE 2012 in order to qualify for the postgraduate scholarships in their own institutions only. They are not eligible for admission to a fresh M.E./M.Tech. programme.

GATE Examination Type

GATE Examination Type

The GATE examination consists of a single paper of 3 hours duration which contains 65 questions carrying a maximum of 100 marks. The question paper will consist of only objective questions. In all papers other than AE, AG, AR, GG, MN and TF, all the questions are of multiple choice type. In AE, AG, AR, GG, MN and TF papers, the question paper will consist of questions of multiple choice type and also some questions of numerical answer type. For multiple choice type questions, each question will have four choices for the answer. For numerical answer type questions, each question will have a number as the answer. The examination for the papers with codes AE, AG, AR, GG, MN and TF will be carried out ONLINE using computers where the candidates will be required to enter the answer for each question using mouse. For all other papers, the candidates will have to mark the correct choice on an Optical Response Sheet (ORS) by darkening the appropriate bubble against each question. There will be negative marking for each wrong answer, except for the numerical answer type questions.

Each GATE paper shall have a General Aptitude (GA) component carrying 15 marks.
