Nick Matthew Wins 3rd British Open Squash Title

World squash champion Nick Matthew entered the record books after beating Ramy Ashour at the weekend to become the first Englishman to win the British Open three times. Malaysian world number one Nicol David took the women's title for the fourth time.

The stunning trophies were designed and manufactured by Gaudio in the UK. The custom designed sports trophies were specifically commissioned for the British Open and manufactured from high quality polished aluminium.

Top Names in Football Gather for Football Extravaganza 2012

Music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins held its annual Football Extravaganza event in London this month, bringing together the biggest stars in football to raise money for a truly worthy cause.

This year's event celebrated 20 years of the Premier League, with winners including Ryan Giggs, Frank Lampard, Sol Campbell, Emile Heskey, David James and Richard Keys.

A charity auction on the night helped raise over £350,000 for Nordoff Robbins, bringing the total to over £5 million since 1996. One of the more hotly contended lots was a Fiat 500 owned by previous Football Extravaganza winner Jose Mouinho. Frank Lampard saw his £12,000 bid beaten by Alex McLeish.

Sahara Force India Wins Gaudio Trophy for Fastest Pit Stop

The Sahara Force India team picked up its first trophy of the year last weekend for the fastest pit stop at the Malaysia grand prix. The bespoke trophy was commissioned by Sky Sports for the new F1 channel. The design is based around the profile of the guns used by the pit team to remove the wheels, and is manufactured from polished aluminium.

The SFI team were thrilled to recieve the award to recognise the hard work they have put into their pit times. Every team up and down the pit lane works hard to make sure their pit stops are as quick as possible. That involves hours of dedication before they even get to the track as the crews take part in fitness sessions and regular practice at the factory.

Robert Baguley Wins PokerStars UK & Ireland Poker Tour

60-year-old retired landlord from Leicestershire, Robert Baguley, was declared winner of this years UKIPT PokerStars tournament, picking up the Gaudio designed trophy and £210,400 in the process!

He beat 1,625 of europe's best players at the Nottingham tournament and plans to take a holiday with the winnings: "I might consider going to Tenerife rather than Cornwall now," he said.

Princess Beatrice takes part in the Olympic Park Run

5000 runners took part in the National Lottery Olympic Park Run at the weekend, and became the first people to cross the Olympic finish line. The runners included members of the public, celebrities and royalty! Princess Beatrice started the runners and took part in the 5 mile run, before awarding the winners with their Gaudio designed Olympic Trophies.

Model Nell McAndrew took the award for fastest woman, with a time of 29 minutes and 21 seconds. Former Spice Girl Melanie C was also on hand to support the event as she ran in the race in under 40 minutes. She said: 'It is just so exciting. That moment when I entered the stadium was just incredible. When I was young I had ambitions to be an Olympic gymnast so I love the Olympics.'

FIFA Street Goes on Tour for the Pro Player Tournament

Following the success of the FIFA 12 Pro Player Tournament in October, EA approached Gaudio to design a new bespoke trophy for the FIFA Street Pro Player Tournament which is currently under way. Top players from the Premierships biggest clubs were itching to get their hands on the joypads again to take home the coveted prize.

First up do battle was the Arsenal team, with FIFA 12 champion Jack Wilshere pairing with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to take on Emmanuel Frimpong and Francis Coquelin. Find out who won in the video below:

The second stop on the tour was Manchester, with the City boys Nigel De Jong and Micah Richards taking on FIFA 12 winner Joleon Lescott and Joe Hart. Watch the video here:

2012 Vinspired Awards Celebrate Inspirational Volunteers

The 2012 Vinspired Awards took place on Thursday (22nd March) to celebrate the UK's most inspiration volunteers. The volunteers were treated to performances from Tinchy Stryder and Stooshe before being awarded with the unique "V" Awards.

The 3D award is manufactured from brushed stainless steel and painted aluminium with engraved detailing. Gaudio are very proud to have produced the awards for this event again and we wish to congratulate all the winners and nominees.

Inter Milan Lift the NextGen Trophy After Dramatic Penalty Shootout

After 120 gruelling minutes Ajax and Internazionale Milano could not be separated in the NextGen series final held at Leyton Orient on Saturday. 2,500 fans watched as the game progressed to penalties and Inter managed to beat firm favourites Ajax.

The first ever NextGen series has been a massive success, featuring sixteen of the world's best football clubs including Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur, PSV Eindhoven, Manchester City and Liverpool. The tournament is chance for the young stars of tomorrow to compete at the very highest level, and Gaudio are extremely proud to have manufactured the awards for this prestigious event.

The tournament and trophy have been extremely well received, with our client commenting on the unique trophy: "The whole process must have been massively challenging and it really does look superb - testament to your attention to detail and uncompromising attitude." Lighting Design Award Winners Announced

Last night (21st March) saw the return of the Lighting Design Awards for the 10th year at the prestigious London Hilton. The ceremony recognises the country's leading lighting designers, manufacturers and architects. Comedian Rob Deering hosted the event with over 700 people gathered in the audience.

The big award of the night, Design Practice of the Decade, introduced to celebrate 10 years of the event, was presented to Speirs & Major. After the awards were presented it was on to the aftershow party. This year, in keeping with the event’s retro’ theme, guests raced against each other on a giant Scalextric!

Specialist from the Construction Industry Awarded at Glitzy Ceremony

The Specialists Awards 2012 took place on Tuesday 20th March at the London Hilton, celebrating the achievements of the UK's leading specialist contractors in the construction industry. The awards are one of the construction industry's most notable annual events, recognising and rewarding the best specialist contractors in the business. Winners on the night included Cantillon, Bourne Construction Engineering and Crofton Design.

Achievements in retail celebrated at the 2012 Retail Week Awards

Last night saw the return of the Oracle Retail Week Awards, the biggest night in the retail calendar. The event highlights some of the great achievements in the industry throughout the last year, despite tough the tough economic climate.

Comedian Greg Davies entertained the 1600 strong crowd at the Grosvenor House Hotel before Jeremy Vine took on hosting duties to hand out the awards. Gaudio have designed the coveted awards for several years. It has largely remained the same, which slight cosmetic changes each year.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Lord Harris of Peckham for his story of someone who is still standing despite a number of his competitors failing. Lord Harris was commended for being a great example of how retail can engage with society and was applauded for the time of the London riots, how he took the opportunity to talk the social fabric of today's society and retail can help to rebuild Britain. A well-deserved win and a true inspiration.

Top Councils Awarded at the LGC Awards 2012

Over a thousand of the country's top leaders in local authorities attended the LGC Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Wednesday. This was the biggest event in its 16 year history, and Gaudio were very proud to be once again supplying the bespoke awards.

The ceremony was hosted by impressionist and comedian Jon Culshaw, and featured a revamped trophy design this year. The award was manufactured from highly polished aluminium and detailed with full colour digital print.

Celebrities turn out to support inspirational women at the Tesco Mum of the Year 2012

A whole host of celebrities (and their mums!) arrived at the Waldorf Hilton in London on Sunday (12th March) to celebrate the 2012 Tesco Mum of the Year Awards.
Famous faces from TV, radio and music included Amy Childs, Pixie Lott, Jamelia, Heidi Range, Sinitta, Lee Ryan and Sara Cox. Guests were treated to live performances from XFactor contestant Mary Byrne, Grammy-award winner Estelle and Amy Winehouse's goddaughter Dionne Bromfield.

Gabby Logan was presented with the Celebrity Mum of the Year Award, speaking from the red carpet, she said: 'I feel really humbled and really really proud. It’s great to be in the company of all the other amazing mums who are being honoured today.'

Olympic gold medallist Denise Lewis OBE, who was part of the award judging panel said: 'I’m really excited to see all the mums congregated in one room today.'

UK Customer Satisfaction Awards Winners Announced

More than 500 business leaders from the UK's top companies gathered last week for the UK Customer Satisfaction Awards 2012. The event, now in its second year, is organised by the Institute of Customer Service.

The winners were judged by a panel of industry experts, which is no easy job given that the finalists represented turnover of over £224bn and employ more than 1 million people! Winners on the night included LV=, BMW, BT, Homebase, Aviva and Wendy Richardson (director of customer care, Boots, pictured above).

Balmoral’s Jeff Bland wins Chef of the Year at the Scottish Restaurant Awards

The award was presented at the Glasgow Science Centre on Wednesday 27th February. Commenting on his achievement, Jeff said, “It’s a great honour to be named Chef of the Year by a panel of judges who are experts on the food industry in Scotland. I take great pride in my role as Executive Chef at The Balmoral – from developing menus and innovative dishes to training new chefs and championing seasonal Scottish produce - it means a great deal to be recognised by my peers for this.”

Another big winner on the night was the Castle Terrace Restaurant, taking home the coveted Restaurant of the Year accolade, as well as the title for Most Innovative Restaurant of the Year.

Awarded a Michelin star just 18 months after opening, the city centre venue has gone from strength to strength, winning three AA Rosettes at the AA Restaurant Awards and deemed Newcomer of the Year by a host of industry bodies in 2011.

Speaking about the two awards, Edinburgh-born chef-patron Dominic Jack said: “Since opening 18 months ago we have been on an incredible journey and being recognised with two awards really is testament to the hard work of the talented team.”

The Scottish Restaurant Awards, which are in their fifth year, aim to recognise creativity, good customer service and quality dining in Scotland, selecting finalists on the basis of nominations by restaurants, customers and suppliers with a panel of experts judging.

Scottish FA Cup Player of the Round Awards

William Hill approached Gaudio for some sporting trophies with a difference for the Scottish FA Cup Player of the Round Awards. We came up with high quality profiled aluminium awards mounted on to a tiered aluminium base that reflects the motto of the Scottish Football Association – Passion, Pride, Spirit.

Motherwell star Henrik Ojamaa picked up the Fifth Round award on Saturday after earning 33% of the fans' vote. Ojamaa was excellent in their 6-0 demolition of Greenock Morton in the last round, scoring a goal, and helping to set up a quarter-final clash with Hibernian on 11 March.

Ojamaa said he was "delighted to win this award." Good Luck to all of the teams still in the tournament and we look forward to seeing more awards presented.

SME 300 Awards: Celebrating SME Success in Scotland

The prestigious Business Insider & Bank of Scotland SME 300 Awards took place earlier this month at the Glasgow Science Centre, hosted by the BBC's Louise Minchin. The Awards celebrate the success of Scotland's best performing small to medium sized companies with turnover between £8m and £20m. Now in their fourth year, and with a new sponsor, the awards were given a fresh new look by Gaudio.

Insider Editor Alasdair Northrop said: "We are delighted to be holding the SME300 awards once again. Scotland's 300 best performing SMEs gave a sparkling performance despite the tough economic conditions with an impressive 13.9 per cent jump in profits on the back of a 2.7 per cent rise in turnover. It is important to mark the achievement of these companies and we hope as many of them as possible will attend the event which provides a chance for them to meet other executives who face similar challenges."

Gaudio Designs Trophy for Sport Relief Sock Sliding Challenge!

Pineapple Dance Studios star, Louie Spence, has recreated Tom Cruise’s classic scene from ‘Risky Business’ – but with a Sport Relief Twist. The Dancing on Ice judge has been snapped pulling the pose whilst wearing the new, official, Sport Relief Socks in a bid to launch Sainsbury’s Sock Sliding Championship this week.

Louie stated: “Pull on a fabulous pair of Sport Relief socks and not only will you be supporting a great cause and raising money for Sport Relief, you can slide your way to the title of Sock Sliding Champion.”

As a long-term partner of Sport Relief, Sainsbury’s always pulls out all the stops to raise much-needed cash. And this year is set to be no different. Sainsbury’s is challenging the nation to set a new world record – the longest distance for a sock slide!

The longest slide from each of the eight Sainsbury's stores around the UK will win a £100 gift card, as well as the specially designed Sock Sliding Champion Trophy as made by Gaudio!

Sock sliders will have three attempts to record the longest continuous slide along a specially designed floor ruler to set a new world record. The challenge is open to anyone who purchases a pair of Sport Relief Socks available at Sainsbury's.
