If you are unaware, I run the website GayCatholic.info where people can share their stories regarding being gay and Catholic. A person is free to share a number of things, from any struggles they may (or have) faced in their lives to joys of living their lives to the fullest. Lately though many post and comments have include the phrase “God is love” when referring to relationships between gay couples. This got me thinking, is God really love in this situation?

Honestly, I am torn between answering yes or no to that question. On one hand I people often use the word love to describe things that really are not lovable. For example, I have heard people say, “I love this sandwich” or “I love this car”. These things to me are not something someone could truly love. They may be something someone truly enjoys eating or driving, but not something that is capable of receiving affection. One the other hand, I do believe that many people in homosexual relationships do have a strong feeling of affection for each other. I can understand the desire to care for someone deeply and to share one’s life with.

In 1 Corinthians, Chapter 13, Paul writes:

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, [love] is not pompous, it is not inflated,
5 it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury,
6 it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth.
7 It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never fails. If there are prophecies, they will be brought to nothing; if tongues, they will cease; if knowledge, it will be brought to nothing.

Reading over what Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians, I look at “God is Love” and wonder if the acceptance of gay relationships is part due to “Love never fails”. If God is love and love never fails, then one could argue that gay marriage (and people whom are gay dating) is becoming more acceptable because God doesn’t fail. Or are those that are saying “God is Love” when it comes to gay marriage (or people whom are gay dating) really seeking something for their own interests and misinterpreting what love truly is? Does the real answer lay something in the middle?

The post Is God Love? first appeared on Gay + Catholic.

Wow, it’s 2015. What an exciting and busy year 2014 had been. In 2014 my business had become large enough to support myself on just that. I was able to quit my job working at the hotel. I am very happy and feel extremely blessed to have grown my business to this point. There have been some hiccups along the way though, especially with managing my time. I have not done the best at this, but will be focusing on improving managing my time better this year. I plan to write at least 1 post a month on my blog, which as you can tell I neglected last year.

I would like to thank all those that have visited my blog in the last year and the comments that you have left. Do know that even though I may not have been active writing, I did read each and every comment left.

On a personal note, I did attend Courage last month for the first time in over a year. I do enjoy spending time with the priest that runs it and the guys that attend it. I still have a difficult time with the therapy feel though (this could just be me though dealing with some past issues with what I will call group therapy). I am undecided if I will be attending this month or not.

This year I plan to do launch 2 to 3 websites that are going to focus on helping others. I have roughly 5 ideas of sites I would like to build and own the domain names for each, but I’m not sure if I will have the time to launch and focus on building 5 sites in one year. I will be praying on which project I should focus on and let God lead me in the right direction. These websites include:

A Prison Ministry site – For the last few years God has been hinting that this will be something I need to do. I have started writing the content for it a few times, but I don’t feel I have the right message yet that God wants me to provide. I’m still not sure how this will reach those in prison, but I trust in God to make this happen.

A Hot Meal site – This will be a site that shows where people within the US (and maybe Canada) can find a hot meal for free. This will take some time to build as I will have to enter find and enter as many places that provide a free hot meal as I can find.

Catholic Saint site – A site that helps people find a Saint that they can relate too. I want this site to include not only biography (focus on both the highlights and the struggles of a Saint’s life), but also provide quotes from Saints that can inspire people.

Fight the Government site – This site will focus on fighting laws that suppress a certain group of the population. It will provide useful resources, legal information and sample letters that one can send to their legal representative.

Pregnancy Help site – A site dedicated to assist women whom are pregnant (and hopefully the fathers) find resources that they need to have and raise a child. This will be inline with many pro-life websites that I have worked on in the last year and I though a nationwide site that simple list places women can find assistance could be useful.

Please pray that I will be able to get 2 to 3 of these sites launch this year and that these sites will reach those that are in need of them.

In addition to working on these sites, I will be helping a non-profit organization raise money to fund 2 – 15 minute short films. These films will be about “New Evangelization, the Message of Fatima, and powerful intercession of the prayers of the children of the world” and “the powerful intercession of the prayers of our world’s children”. I will be posting a link here shortly if you are interested in helping fund these films. Pray that we will be able to raise the money needed to create these very useful and much needed films.

Ok, it’s almost 1am here and I need to get to bed. One of my New Years changes is to get up earlier to get more done each day and I need to get a little sleep so I can do just that. God Bless!

The post WOW, it’s 2015 first appeared on Gay + Catholic.

The Divine Red River website is designed to help people that have considered suicide. One great feature of this website is it allows people that have considered suicide to share their stories on how God intervened in their lives and allowed them to choose life instead of committing suicide.

With the end of 2012, I am taking some time to reflect on the last year and where I want to head over the next year. I do consider this last year to have been a semi-good year for me. Business is going well and things are looking like they will continue that way into the new year. Attending Mass has been down this year for me, but it is something I plan on working on in the new year.

Typically I’m not the type to make new year resolutions because honestly, I have tried in the past and I seem to stick with them for a week or two and then I’m done with it. So instead of making resolutions, I am just going to share some things that I want to accomplish this upcoming year.

In the last few years I have worked on increasing my confidence, which I think I have made great progress. I do want to continue in growing my confidence and working on meeting new people. I am considering find a group to join, something like the young adult groups that many Dioceses offer. I know of one that is in a city east of where I live, but that is a 45 minutes drive and would like to focus on meeting new people in the area I live.

I have decided to focus this year on giving back to others, which I am calling the “Year of Giving”. To achieve this goal, I want to do some volunteer work this year, donate monthly food to the local food pantry, and design 6 websites for free for Catholic churches and/or non profit organization. (Visit Free Web Design for Non Profit / Catholic church for more information).

As for attending Mass, I am planning on attending Mass 3 times a month. I know this doesn’t sound like as often as one should go to Mass, but this past few months I haven’t been attending a great deal. Setting a goal like 3 times a month sounds like something I can do and I once I get back into a routine, it will make it easier to start attending Mass on a more regular bases.

I do hope your New Year is blessed and that you make this year the best year yet!

The post My 2013 Plans first appeared on Gay + Catholic.

Recently a friend send me a link to a story titled ‘Pope Blesses Uganda’s Rebecca “Kill The Gays” Kadaga’ from a blog called Joe. My. God. (this story can be found here). In short, the author writes about a recent blessing of Rebecca Kadaga by Pope Benedict XVI. Rebecca Kadaga is the Ugandan Parliament Speaker and is known as the main pusher of a law that would allow for individuals who engage in some type of homosexual act (this includes engaging in sexual acts to even supporting someone that is gay) punishable by life in prison (According to Wikipedia, the law was changed at the end of Nov 2012 to remove the death penalty as a punishment). Rebecca Kadaga has stated that she would like to have this bill passed to Christmas 2012 as a “Christmas Present” for the supports of the bill.

Doing a search on Google in regards to this topic, I seen that the only ones covering Rebecca Kadaga trip to the Vatican was being done by gay friendly websites as well as the Parliament of The Republic of Uganda website. This is what the Parliament of The Republic of Uganda wrote about the meeting:

Pope Benedict XVI has given blessings to Uganda Parliament Speaker Rt.Hon. Rebecca Kadaga during a mass attended by thousands of pilgrims at the Vatican Wednesday.

Kadaga who led a delegation of Ugandan legislators to the Vatican expressed delight at meeting the Pope and visiting St Peter’s Basilicca.

“I think this is a moment that cannot be repeated. We have been reading about him, hearing stories about St.Peter’s Basilica but now we are here physically. I think it is something that I will remember all my life. Its a very great moment and I thank God for this opportunity,” she said minutes after meeting the Pope.

The Speaker dedicated to all Ugandans readings from the book of St.Mark which the Pope quoted in several languages during the Vatican mass.

I personally believe that Pope Benedict XVI should have pointed out that this law went to far when he meet with Rebecca Kadaga. In the Bible there is a story of a women that is bought before Jesus when she was found to be committing adultery. The people wanted to stone this women to death because they said this is what the laws of Moses say to do. Jesus said to these people “Let the one among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her. (John 8:7)”. One can be against homosexuality, but can also stand up for those being threaten by life in prison or death just for being gay. It is important for us a Christians to stand up for people that are being judged and facing harsh punishment just as Jesus did in John 8.

Do you think the Pope should have meet with Rebecca Kadaga and given her a blessing? Is the blessing given by Pope Benedict XVI an endorsement of her support for such a harsh punishment for someone that is gay? Should this blessing have been covered by more media outlets to draw attention to what is happening in Uganda? Should we speak up to leaders like Pope Benedict XVI to be a voice for all those that are being prosecuted?

The post Pope Blesses Uganda’s Rebecca “Kill The Gays” Kadaga first appeared on Gay + Catholic.

Today when I tried to log into my account at forums.Catholic.com, I was welcomed with this message:

Your account has been locked for the following reason:
Solicitation

This change will be lifted: Never

Yes, my account was shut down for good because they claimed I was soliciting. The last post that I posted on their website was on a thread where a lady was asking where she could host her website. She was looking to host her website with someone that was Catholic. I posted on this thread that I offered this service and BAM, my account was shut down for good.

To me, if this action was wrong, they should have sent me a warning email and remove the posting. They also could have suspended my account until I contacted them to find out what the issue was and resolved the issue. I just feel they could have done something other then just kill my account without a way to reactive it or to fix the mistake I made by violating their solicitation policy (even though responding to a question is something I do not consider to be soliciting, I see it as just answering a question).

I did write an email to them expressing my disappointment for having my account deactivated. I express that I was sorry for making a mistake on their website for responding to a thread posting with a service that I provide. I also stated that I do not want them to reactive my account. I do not want to be a part of a website that believes in absolute power, just deactivating an account without giving a person a chance to fix a mistake they made. To me this action is not something a Christian or Catholic would do. A website or forum that claims to focus on being Catholic should understand that people make mistakes, we all do not have time to read over every websites “Terms of use” policies and should be giving a second change to fix a mistake we have make.

I will not be going back to forums.Catholic.com again. I would rather spend my time and seek advice on another website that understands that we are human and are willing to give people a second chance, a website willing to help its members grow and explain to them if something is not accept on their website.

The post Upset with Forums.Catholic.com first appeared on Gay + Catholic.

Well, it’s been just about a year since I wrote any blog postings. Wow how time has flown. Things have been going well for me. I have been doing a great deal of work on the house, I have quit a job and now only am working 2 (hotel and web designer) and have been trying to find some time to relax a bit.

I have decided to take a break from Courage. My reasoning for this is when I attend, I don’t really say much. I also have some issue with the 12 step approach. What I was looking for was to find friends I could relate too, but even though the guys that attend are nice, it’s difficult to build good friendships when they live about an hour away. I may go back at some point next year, but I am going to take the rest of this year off.

In the last month I have been working hard on launching a few new websites. I currently own around 30 domain names and would like to have live websites on a few more of the domain names by the end of the year. In addition to having these additional websites up and running, I am deciding what I will do with Only A Part, the only gay Catholic social networking website. Right now it is not functioning correctly and I am considering just starting over with it. I hope to make a decision on this in the next few weeks, so stay tune.

The websites I have been working on are:

Catholic Website Design – My hope with Catholic Website Design is to be able to provide high quality web design to Catholic businesses, Catholic Churches and Catholic organizations. I want to be able to provide these businesses, churches and organizations with services that do not put their faith in the backseat.

Top Web Hosting – Providing information regarding the varies types of website hosting offered by hosting companies.

Promoting Your Blog – Promoting Your Blog the easy way. Use this simple tool to contact advance SEO tactics yourself and great results.

Ok, I know that listing these websites may seem like spam, but I am trying to build each one up and having links to these sites on here will help me do just. I will try to not spam this website too much with my projects.

I do hope all is well with everyone that stops by the blog on a regular bases. I will try to update this blog on a more regular bases.

The post What I have been up too first appeared on Gay + Catholic.
