We’re looking for a writer or writers with a good knowledge of the island and with plenty of connections in the gay scene in Lanzarote.

We pay a relatively small amount per post (although that will increase as the site grows) but the income can be increased dramatically if you are interested in selling advertising on a commission basis.

Accommodation In Lanzarote

Although it’s a small island, there’s a huge choice of accommodation on the island to choose from, as well over a million people come to Lanzarote every year, dwarfing the island’s own population.

Hotels

Hotels here range from basic zero star to luxury five star. Most have swimming pools and none are far from the beach and resort area restaurants and bars. Recent additions are some very good quality rural hotels – ideal if you want to stay in the “real” Lanzarote. Self Catering

Once again, the choice is incredible, from small one bedroom apartments and studios, all the way up to fabulous villas with private swimming pools. A small apartment can cost as little as €250 a week, and most complexes have a communal swimming pool. Scooter Rental In Lanzarote

Scooters are a fantastic way to get around the island – you’re exposed to the elements, they’re cheap to run and you can park them anywhere! In fact, we have a 125 CC scooter here at Gay Lanzarote, and we use it all the time. If you’re going to Arrecife, it’s the fastest, way to get around the island’s capital.

We work with Scoot Me in Puerto del Carmen, who offer both 50 and 125 CC machines for hire from €20 per day or €85 per week.

Punto have launched their Navidad Anti-Crisis menu with special drinks promotions on the 24th and 31st December. As of today 10th December 2012, they also have the BONOCOPAS promotion.

The Batalla de Angeles is held every Friday through December at 23:00, this is a competition to find the best transformation artist in Lanzarote, the winner will receive €200 in prize money amongst other gifts.

Playa del Risco, Lanzarote

One of the island’s hidden gems, because it’s so inaccessible is the fabulous beach at Playa del Risco. Whenever we mention it, people usually respond with “Where’s that?” But amazingly most visitors to the island will have seen the beach – it’s the one you look down on from the Mirador del Rio!

These days, there are only two ways to get there – by chartering a boat, or by following the long and steep path down from the Mirador itself. There used to be a path from Famara, but it’s recently become impassable.

The path descends 650 meters in less than 2KM, so that should give you an idea of how difficult it can be – it’s not a trip for the faint (or weak!) hearted, especially when you remember that you’ll have to come back up! It was originally created for the salt pans which you can still see at the bottom. The workers (usually women) would have to carry bags of salt up the path, and the women of La Graciosa would use it as well to trade fish they’d caught for Lanzarote grown vegetables.

Adult Only Cruise With Catlanza

Catlanza offer cruises from their base in the marina of Puerto Calero to the beaches of Papagayo in the south of Lanzarote. The company have a selection of family and adult only sailings each week, during the summer months there are two cruises per day and one during the winter.

The winter 2012 / 2013 schedule will start when the clock changes at the end of October, then the adult days which are classed as platinum will be held on a Monday and Thursday from 11:00 to 15:00.

Rainbow Fuerteventura 2012

Rainbow Fuerteventura will be held from 10 – 14 October 2012 in Corralejo, Fuerteventura which is only a short ferry crossing away from Lanzarote.

Punto the LGTB Disco Club in Centro Atlantico, Puerto del Carmen have a special presentation evening for Rainbow Fuerteventura at 22:00 on the 6 October including a performance from Diamonds are Forever with Lolita Versache & Gina Fichetta.

Musa

We were delighted to see the Gay Friendly sticker proudly displayed on the window of Musa in Puerto del Carmen recently.

This stylish bar cafeteria opened in July 2012 and can be found in the Fariones area of the resort.

On this visit we were meeting friends just for drinks so didn’t sample the food, however the menu had some different options. Cafetería Musa serve a selection of tapas and snacks such as hamburgers but also sweet and savoury crepes which we’ll definitely try on the next visit.

Our group of friends all connected to the WiFi hotspot here during our visit, which was password protected for customers use only.
