The large property is surrounded by beautiful farmlands interspersed with woodlands and wetlands plus they are close to the great Southern Ocean so you can often hear it rolling onto the beach. Blooms abound almost all year round and with over 3.5 acres of lawns, flowering plants, trees and shrubs, there is always something to see on your walk around the property.

There’s a profusion of wild life, some permanent and some transient, such as the Wallabies, Kangaroos, and Koala’s who pass through regularly.
Codrington Gardens is in a small leigh, it doesn’t appear large, but it is quite significant; the up-side is this creates a very unique “weather” environment right on the property, a sort of “mini climate” which is significantly milder and far less prone to winds than all other properties around.

Evening meals and breakfast are cooked fresh for guests and served in the private dinning room. There are no set times for meals, they cater to your convenience. The restaurant is fully licensed and a selection of wine, sparkling wine, beer and spirits are available at bar prices.

There’s a small communal kitchen and barbeque on the property for the use of guests. The barbeque is next to the kitchen and has the tools needed for cooking. The kitchen has a microwave, hot plates, toaster, kettle, cutlery, and crockery. There is also a bench top for a work and prep area plus a large sink to clean up in.

Beautiful Settings

The gardens are the result of time, combined with the efforts and the care plus consideration of a succession of families over many years. The property was first settled more than one hundred years ago originally as a mixed farming property with grazing, dairy, pigs, and chickens. Since then it’s gone through a few transitions, more recently it was a plant nursery, then a mock period village, but now it is a wonderful home and a place to relax for visitors. There’s a mix of mature and new plantings throughout the gardens. More than ninety varieties of roses are spread around the gardens, and they bloom prolifically over extended periods.

There are also Day Lilies in early winter, Iris Beds that burst into colour in Spring, native gardens, shrubs, trees that flower and fruit, bulbs by the thousands, water features here and there, large lush lawns, a lots of small secluded places, a lovely paved courtyard, and a shade house full of plants. In summer the garden becomes a green oasis set in dry a brown land, attracting hundreds of small birds to the property, including Honey Eaters, Fly Catchers, Tree Creepers, Robins, Finches, Swallows, and Parrots.

When you stay at Codrington Gardens you can walk around Griffiths Island, see the lighthouse, the shearwater colony, and a seal or beach wallaby along the way. The East Beach is perfect for surfing, sailing, or swimming and it is Lifeguard Patrolled. Enjoy the specialty shops, restaurants and cafes all just a twenty minute drive from Codrington Gardens.
