Aoi: First we talked about putting on makeup. "I'm fine with it, but who's gonna put it on me?" (laughs) But then I thought "Whatever, I'll do it myself", so I went to a 100-Yen-shop and grabbed myself some cosmetics. Me and that young lady practiced putting on makeup together (laughs). And while at it, her husband would be giggling at me (laughs). The place we did a live for the first time was near hide's museum in Yokosuka. After that we often played in Tsurumi-ward. Which reminds me, that's around the time I finally got accustomed to Visual Kei. When we were playing in Tsurumi, there was a band that would destroy its drumset. I thought "Visual Kei is damn scaryyyy!" (laughs). In other genres there are generally no bands that do such things, right? "Visual Kei is a dangerous world", that's the first thing I thought back then.

- You had a "I'm not exactly into Visual-Kei" kind of stance, I guess?

Aoi: Nope, I didn't. At that time I was trying to become someone who, you could say, belongs to a typical Visual Kei band.

-page 4-

In case of failure, I do nothing but practice,
so I won't repeat the same mistake again.

- What kind of guitar were you using when you were playing in that band?

Aoi: An ESP one from the MA series. I bought it using a tremendous loan (laughs). After a while I also bought ESP's Forest. In the early days of the GazettE I was always using the Forest one.

- The one with the Humbucker Pick-Up, right? Were you also using demo-tapes in your first band?

Aoi: We were. However, these were rather recordings done at home using a MTR (multi-track recorder). The very first time I entered a studio and recorded something was when I was already in theGazettE.

- Speaking of MTRs, you noticed various things about your play when you recorded it yourself, didn't you?

Aoi: I did in the beginning. I was deeply moved when I recorded something for the very first time. I thought "My guitar play has become a part of the musical composition!". However, when this excitement faded after recording several times, I started to think "What the hell is this?! I have to do it more properly..." and so on. But well, I should probably say that my first band was an amateur one. OK, theGazettE was in the beginning like that, too, of course (laughs). The vocalist of my first band ended up not being that good. And then, at the same time I was playing in that band, I met the other theGazettE members.

- So it was after you entered the GazettE that your consciousness changed to feeling that you are a guitarist?

Aoi: That's right. To put it another way, it was after I started the GazettE that I thought I have to improve my skills in every aspect. The first thing I noticed when I entered the GazettE was that I couldn't perform the "cutting"* technique. Like I said before, I really liked speed-riffing, so I would just skip all the "x"s** that were written on the sheet music. (laughs)

*Aoi uses the English word "cutting", but I'm not sure about the actual term in English. Anyways, he means these 'scratched' guitar sounds, kinda like in the beginning of Smells Like Teen Spirit.
**I don't know much about guitar, but according to my research "x" means either to omit the string when strumming or to mute whatever string that "x" is on. Here are the tabs of Smells Like Teen Spirit for example. For a better explanation check out this video (around 06:02).

- The strumming parts, huh? (laughs)

Aoi: Right. Back then I was like "What's that? I don't get the rhythm" (laughs). So I wouldn't do the "cutting". The first demo that Uruha brought was a twin guitar arrangement. When I listened to it I was like "Sorry, can't play that" (laughs). So when I started the GazettE, practicing "cutting" was my very first challenge.

- Is that so? And yet you perform "cutting" all the time nowadays.

Aoi: Well, it was something terrible for me back then. Plus, our first manager was an awfully strict person. He was constantly criticizing me and urging me to improve. Although I was rebellious towards him, I was practicing really hard. That's what it was like.

- So rather than suddenly starting to practice hard because of some big incident, improving your skills was always on your mind, right?

Aoi: Right. It's because I don't get that pessimistic in case of failure, or rather, I don't give up. When I've failed something I just do nothing but practice so I won't repeat the same mistake.

- And till now you've never thought "Maybe I shall quit guitar..."?

Aoi: Well, no, just once. Actually it's not that long ago. Last year when we were playing in Saitama Super Arena I stopped performing during one song. I thought "That's it, I'm giving up".

- What? There's really been an incident like that?

Aoi: Well, ok, although I said I quit, it was more like I just stopped playing. How shall I put it, more like... it had kinda come out of the blue. There are songs were Uruha and I are playing both acoustic guitar. I can't remember very well, but while I was playing I suddenly thought "Argh, I'm making mistakes!". And then I stopped playing, although it wasn't entirely because of the mistakes either. Without even trying to cover them, I just stopped playing. Even thought I was playing like usual till then....

- This must have been a shock even though you stopped at your own will, right?

Aoi: It was terrible shock. To the point that I thought "I'm gonna die.....". I hadn't experienced anything like that till then, not even once. Even if I was nervously making mistakes while playing and thinking "Aaah, I'm messing up", I'd usually keep playing. I thought that there's no way I would ever stop playing. But before making these mistakes, I had already given up. Such a thing has never happened in my whole life, only that one time back then. We stopped playing that song for a while, because I was absolutely traumatized. As one would expect, I was quite bothered by it for some time then.

- It must have been a moment that felt like entering an air-pocket, right? By the way, how do you hold your pick?

Aoi: Like usual, with the index-finger and the form. However, depending on the phrase the positioning changes, but basically I hold it so that the tip is protruding quite a lot. I think it's quite a common form.

- And that hasn't changed since you started playing guitar?

Aoi: No, because I'm a person that places importance on outward appearances when taking up something*. In the beginning I had a guitar-manual which I was using as reference. Because things like "Hold the pick like that, place your hand here..." and so on were written there. But I actually couldn't play well when I was holding the pick the way it was described in the manual, so I put the book aside and I played with the style that felt more natural to me. And I've stuck to that since then.

*He used the expression 形から入る which means something like... Say for example that you want to start playing the guitar. But instead of practicing right away, what you first pay attention to is for example getting the same guitar your guitar-idol has, holding it like he/she does, playing like he/she does and so on... Kinda like focusing on the outward aspects first~
I'm thinking, can I finally start playing?

- What kind of boy were you when you were a child?

Aoi: I was an ordinary baseball-boy when I was a child. That's all there is to it, kinda like... nothing to talk about in particular (laughs). It was during the 6th year of elementary school that I became aware of music, rock and so on.

- What triggered it?

Aoi: I have a 6 years older brother who was playing guitar. At the same time when I was in the 6th class my bro was making noise together with his friends and I wanted to enter their circle, too. It looked like lots of fun and gave you an adult-like feeling. And so I kept wondering what shall I do to enter that circle. Then, I simply thought I shall try playing the guitar. Kinda like "What's that? That's cool. Super cool!!" (laughs). My brother had occupied a storage-like place at home and I could hear the music blasting. But honestly, I didn't understand the charm of that music (laughs). However, I thought they were doing something really fun. Isn't it a completely different world from junior baseball? And baseball was difficult anyways (laughs). It was nothing but practice. It was very fascinating that my brother and his friends were having so much fun together.

- You were charmed by a world that's the complete opposite of sports, so to say, right? What kind of music was your brother and his friends playing?
Aoi: Hmm, what was it? They're were rough people, but..... I'm sorry, I can't remember (laughs). But it definitely wasn't Visual Kei (laughs).
- Oh, really? (laughs) Did you start playing the guitar right away?

Aoi: I did. It was around the time I was in the 6th year of the elementary that I touched the guitar. Compared to other people, that's rather early, isn't it? But even so, I was really kind of... useless at it (laughs)

- Oh, come on (laughs). When you started playing the guitar, was there any guitarist you were fascinated by?

Aoi: There wasn't anyone specific. My brother was listening to western as well as Japanese music and there were CDs by X (JAPAN), Seikima-II etc at home, but I didn't know about genres at that time. Western and Japanese artists had all long hair, and to me they all looked the same (laughs). So, I wasn't captivated by any gerne, I listened to anything I thought the guitar was cool.

- Did you borrow your brother's guitar?

Aoi: There was a gut guitar at that time... which I think my brother might have snatched from his high school, and that's what I was playing (laughs). Since it was a gut guitar the neck was really thick, the distance between the strings and the fretboard was extremely big, and I was like "What the hell is this?!" (laughs). If you turned it around, I thought it looked like Obocchama-kun (laughs). I kept playing this guitar desperately till middle school. I could play the intro of "Kurenai"* on it after all! (laughs) I improved quite a lot at it, you know (laughs)

* X-Japan song

- It was a short while later that you became able to play the guitar, right?
Aoi: It was during the autumn of the 1st year in middle school that I started playing the electric guitar. My brother had graduated high-school and decided to leave home to search for a job. Which means, there was no guitar at home. That was bad (laughs). I was like "Will you give me the guitar?" and my brother "Aah, alright". However, although he had promised me he would give it to me, he left and took the guitar with him. I complained to my mom and while crying I said: "Brother broke his promise" (laughs). My mom called my brother then and he sent me the guitar. However, no sound came out of it. (laughs)
- Oh, your brother...

Aoi: He's awful, isn't he! (laughs) I was really looking forward to getting the guitar and so I had already purchased a battery-using mini-amp while waiting. We were in the countryside and there was no music-store nearby, so my parents drove me to one (laughs). And even then, no sound would come out (laughs). My brother got scolded like crazy, though (laughs). Like "Your 1st year middle-school little brother even made pocket money on his own and bought himself an amp! What were you thinking, you ...". Although I had received the guitar, my mother was nuts (laughs). 'Cause I wanted a new guitar, but I didn't have any money anymore. For the time being I had to wait till New Year's to get otoshidama and that's when I started playing the electric guitar.

- How did you practice back then?

Aoi: There's this kind of books that include lyrics and cords of various songs, right? I had some of them and also some that explained how to hold down cords. If I found any song I knew I would try to play it. Then, there was also X's "Kurenai" which I was covering from the beginning... but when I say 'cover' I mean just the intro. I couldn't play like I played when I first entered a band! (laughs) Before entering a band I was practicing arpeggio really hard.

- What was hard to learn when you first started playing the guitar?

Aoi: Everything except for the cords.

- Is that so? Didn't you experience the so called "F-cord frustration"?

Aoi: No, I didn't. Therefore I don't know what "stumbling" over the barre cords is. But me, too, I think I couldn't play them properly in the very beginning. There are things you notice you've been able to do right away, right? That's what it was like.

- I see. With "everything except for the cords" you mean riffs, guitar solos and such?

Aoi: That's right. From the beginning, I often wanted to practice them, but no matter what I did there was no sound. And even if I was playing them on the original sound of the guitar [T/N: playing the guitar without it being connected to the amp] it wasn't cool, right? (laughs). I kept thinking.... the image is totally different (laughs). But after the New Year's when I was in the 1st year of middle school I got my own guitar and was able to practice riffs and solos.

- The guitar you chose first on your own, what kind of model was it?

Aoi: A Stratocaster type, with a Humbucker PU attached to it. A cheap set (laughs). The guitar my brother gave me was a Stratocaster-type, so I had an image like "A guitar should be a Stratocaster I guess" .
(page 2)
At that time, when I watched SEIKIMA-II etc., Luke was using a Strato-type, too. Back then I also thought that deformed models* are wicked and wrong (laughs). But I don't think so anymore now.

*T/N: like this or this and so on.

I really wanted to become a pro.
I thought I can do much more.

- So this means that, after you finally managed to produce sound, you were able to play riffs and guitar solos, too, then?

Aoi: That's right. However, I couldn't play guitar solos at all. Looking back at it now, they were such easy guitar solos to the point that I think "I couldn't play such [an easy piece]?" (laughs). Kinda like.... As expected, it's Yngwie Malmsteen and the like, so it can't be helped (laughs). "What was I thinking?" and so on (laughs). Then, I also played X a lot. I wanted to complete "Kurenai", so I practiced like crazy. Back then everyone around me was doing X's covers. X's songs are cool and being able to play them is really fun. Shall I say that they were my introduction to rock-guitar? They were a difficult introduction, though. But at the same time when I was able to play X's songs I was able to say "I do play guitar", that's what it felt like.

- There are always artists like that in each generation, aren't they? Speaking of the time you started playing the guitar, the length of the strap was important, wasn't it?

Aoi: It was (laughs). When I started I thought it should be hanging as low as possible. If the guitar is hanging high it makes you look like some old chap, doesn't it? (laughs)

- It does (laughs). But thinking about it again, there are barely any guitarists who play at an extremely low height, right?

Aoi: Right. That's why I didn't really get influenced by anyone, I just felt like it's cooler to hold it lowly. But when I started to play I was holding it at a normal height. It was when I came to Tokyo and entered a band professionally that I started holding it lowly. And with this, I suddenly couldn't play (laughs).

❞It felt like Helloween's style was becoming my own blood ❝

- Everyone has problems with that, huh? (laughs) When did you start a band?

Aoi: The first time I formed a band was when I was in the 3rd year of middle school [T/N: When he was 14-15 y.o.]. In my middle school you had to join club activities and therefore, people had no energy left to do something else (laughs). My middle school was one that was exceeding in sports and such, so the guys who were good at sports were seen as the coolest ones. The ones who brought guitars to school, were just me and one-two more people. There were very few people interested in bands. Therefore till my 3rd year in middle school bands weren't popular and so I would return home and just.. play guitar alone whenever I wanted. It wasn't just me, the other guys who were playing guitar thought the same. I wanted to be in a band. But during the summer of my 3rd year there were no club activities, and it had already been decided that I'd go to high-school. I chose a second-rate school, so I would be able to enter without having to study (laughs). And because of that I had lots of free-time. Then, the people around me finally started to become aware of music. They brought music-magazines to school and guys who thought "Bands are cool!" appeared. And I, I was like "Ah, I know this magazine. I've already read it" (laughs). So I told the guys who started getting interested in bands "We have a storage room at home, we can place our instruments in there and start a band!" (laughs). So I gathered my friends and the 5 of us formed a band.

- What kind of songs did you play?

Aoi: LUNA SEA was popular right then. The sheet music for "TRUE BLUE" was printed in one of the music-magazines, so we did this one first. However, it was very difficult. The phrases in between were hard to play. And back then, I thought that speed riffing* is absolutely cool, so I felt restless. That's why we started copying songs from other bands after we completed this one. Like BOOWY, ZIGGY and so on.

*T/N: like the guitars in the beginning of this :D

- Eh? This kind of bands? Isn't the generation different?
Aoi: It is (laughs). But the CDs the guys who said they wanted to be in a band bought were all old. (laughs) And while we were doing songs like these, the people around us were doing Sex Pistols' (laughs). I considered Pistols very stylish, you know.

- Listening to Aoi's guitar one can sense a metal-taste, too, so what about that?
Aoi: I love metal. My brother was like that, too, so I was listening to overseas heavy-metal, hard-rock etc already by the time I was in elementary-school. Metallica was a must. Even the very first foreign album I bought was a METALLICA one, I think. I also liked EXTREME and so on. I absolutely love Nuno Bettencourt [T/N: Extreme's guitarist]. But I can't play like him (laughs). There was also some guy at school who could play guitar quite well and we both loved HELLOWEEN. We'd play Helloween's CDs and we'd play along in harmony. These are the roots of my twin-guitar life, you know. Helloween was great. We even had a twin lead guitar. We were happy together, huh? (laughs) [T/N: LOL xDDD] It feels like Helloween's style has become my own blood.

❞I took the night-bus and went to Tokyo with just a bag and my guitar❝

- One could also say your roots are in metal, right? When did you start playing in a Visual Kei band?
Aoi: It was after I came to Tokyo. I wasn't doing Visual Kei when I was in my home-area, I didn't even plan to. I wasn't interested in it. Or rather, I didn't even know what "visual kei" is in the first place.

- I thought you had moved to Tokyo together with the members of the band you formed in your home-area.

Aoi: No, it's not like that. I quit the band at he same time I graduated from middle-school. I wanted to go to a music school in Tokyo after I graduated high-school, but I was told by my parents that I couldn't. My dream was shattered then and I would just hang around with friends without going to school (laughs). I was playing guitar at that time, but it held me from going to school and having fun with my friends, so in the end I thought "I don't need that guitar anymore....", so I stopped playing for a while. I had worked really hard during middle-school, delivering newspapers and so on, in order to get that guitar, but then I was denying it, not making any effort anymore. However, there was one folk-guitar my brother had left back, so I would sit at home alone and play songs by Yuzu, 19 etc on it and sing along. One day I was watching a late night show were bands appear and I thought "What's with them? They're so lame". The truth is I wanted to become a pro. But that was beyond me that's why I felt sulky. I felt jealous and thought "they appear on TV although their level is so low". I wanted to go to Tokyo then. I thought I could do much more. But at that time I had just become able to work and I didn't even have the money to... go to Tokyo (laughs). Anyways, I decided to go there.

- What? You randomly went to Tokyo all alone?

Aoi: Yes. I'm living in the spur-of-the-moment(laughs). I went to Tokyo without a moment's hesitation. I just took a petty bag and my guitar with me and hopped into a night-bus (laughs). I arrived in Tokyo, but as for a place to stay.... (laughs). I had no acquaintances either. And don't forget, I had arrived early in the morning in Ikebukuro. There were so many crows, I wondered "What's with that city?". There was a boy in the bus who I made friends with and he asked me something like "What are you going to do from now on?", but I was like "No clue" (laughs). I remember drinking some coffee with him for a while and separating ways then.

- You came here without even having decided where to live... Did you rent an apartment soon?

Aoi: I didn't. At that time I only had 50000 yen [T/N: around 500 euros or 650$] with me (laughs). It was enough for the traveling expenses of my round trip and food only. I was wondering what to do. First of all I had to find a job, right? Since I had worked as newspaper-delivery-boy, I thought about doing the same again, but then I decided against, as expected. (page3)
I brought painful memories back, so I quit (laughs). Then there was once a customer at the izakaya I was working in my home-town, who said: "My sister is living in Tokyo, so if you need anything just tell me". I called that person and he told me "Go to my sister's place for the time being". He even told me where the keys were. I really can't believe it when I think about it now, but I just entered a stranger's house and simply fell asleep on the kotatsu (laughs). When I woke up everybody was back (laughs). I thought "What kind of state am I in?" (laughs).

❞When I started playing in the GazettE, learning how to do the "cutting" technique was my first challenge. ❝

- It's almost like a manga (laughs). Under these circumstances you weren't able to start a band, I guess, right?

Aoi: It was half a year later that I started playing in a band. That young lady even introduced me to a job. Then I decided to start a band while working part-time, but I hadn't been to a live-house before. Because there are no live-houses in the country-side! (laughs) Therefore, I didn't know how to gather members. I would only check for member-recruitings in magazines and so on (laughs). I thought that's how everyone finds members (laughs). Then I saw one and the band I decided to give a try was a Visual-Kei one. I was like "I don't know what Visual-Kei is, but is that OK?" (laughs). "I have a guitar and soon I'll be able to play at lives", that's what I thought.
the GazettE- ICHIKAWA BUNKA KAIKAN LIVE.

I went to Ichikawa on 20th and I rented a room in a cheap hotel. At 15 hours,I walked to Ichikawa Bunka Kaikan.Because I don't know clearly the streets so I have to use the map. There were many the GazettE's Fans in the street, I knew it because they used BM goods and some of them are cosplayer.Even, some people waited here from morning or the noon. When I went to Goods Tour Uriba ( sorry, I don't know what is called in English >"<),the time was near 5 P.M. .Because I surely enjoyed the LIVE to the night so I tried to buy some FAST FOOD before going to the gate.

And this, the things I am always worry was happened.BM boston bags was sold out quickly. But luckily, I still could buy many tour goods. That is a bear keychain,a BM t-shirts and others. After that I started finding my ticket. It was a bad time!I didn't find my ticket!I began being scared and I thought I had to catch TAXI to come back my hotel in order to find my ticket. But the time was near 6 P.M!When I found one time, luckily,I saw my ticket in the purse that I have never used!I was too pleased and screamed happily.I went to my seat abit lately. My ticket for HERESY and my seat was in 2nd row.Normally, HERESY can sit near the GazettE's parents (laughs). But GFC's seats seems near the GazettE than us.But no problem, I had a ideal seat which I could see the GazettE quite clearly.18h30, the performance was started. The light was gradually disappeared and when hearing [INFUSED INTO],my heart was suddenly hurt! When the members came out [ Kai is the first, and then is Uruha,Reita,Aoi and finally is Ruki].Immediately, the audiences called their name.I did it too, and I called Aoi's name very loudly.A girl wearing Lolita Style near me called Aoi too.She turned to me and laughed with me.Aoi is not the member I love the most but I did it because he is too handsome! When he came out, He smiled with us.A beauty smile!Reita is very cool too.I saw that Uruha was laughing XDD~~

My power of vision is not good so I couldn't see Kai clearly.Reita made signal to us but I really couldn't understand.I hoped that STAFFs adjusted the light spots overwhelm. The hall was darked gradually and I thought :" It starts!".The setlist wasn't changed but I had hoped that something changed.( but this wasn't happened). It was so long since I last went to the GazettE's LIVE so everything for me was new.Although I am Japanese but everything Ruki said I heared rarely.
But at that time I don't care at all, after [VENOMOUS CELL SPIDER],[SLUDGY CULT] was performed.Kai smiled very beautifully!!!I don't know if I was wrong but it seemed Aoi gave Uruha a cool smile~~~After [SLUDGY CULT], they performed [VORTEX], you know.I talked with the Lolita girl near me although around us it was very noisy. This Tokyo girl said that she has gone to most of LIVEs in VC TOUR.As other times, the way Ruki sang [VORTEX] makes FANS really excessive enthusiasm.I tried to see entirely the GazettE's members. It was still a cute singing! When Ruki sang " I don't wanna become the fucking garbage like you", I screamed because Ruki's engrish is really cute!!After [VORTEX] there was a short break. We continue to call the GazettE's names. When I called " Ruki-channn~~~", a girl looking Visual Kei turned to see me,laughed out loud and thrashed my shoulder. No problem, the next song continue.

The next song is [SUICIDE CIRCUS].I have just practice to cover bass of this song so I headbanged with the bass melody.I didn't see the stage beacause I was headbanging.Tomomi ( the Lolita girl) headbanged ardently too.In this song Ruki is really attractive!!!And the next is the song I always look forward! You know, it's [MY DEVIL ON THE BED].The attractive thing of [MY DEVIL ON THE BED] is the FANSERVICE.The cane closely connected with Ruki. Before going to the LIVE, I read LIVE REPORT many times but seeing directly is really interedted. The FANSERVICE of Ruki with the cane was scalding hot!!!Ruki kept the cane between his legs and sometimes he pointed the cane to us.He did some actions as if he did something with someone!!I am not good at English so I didn't hear clearly what Ruki sang except Japanese centences.( Although I read the lyrics).

After that is a SHORT BREAK because of the equipment of Uruha. After 10 minuste, the melody started.IT WAS [13 STAIRS-[1] ]!!! Mostly I headbanged. In the clean section of Uruha, I stopped headbanging and saw him.He came to near the audiences and hold up his head.HE IS REALLY ATTRACTIVE!!!!

Ruki's voice is so POWER!I seemed be crazy!!!A girl asked me at the end of song :" Do you realize that Ruki sang "Woaahhhooohoohoo" ?". I answered :" Eh?!!Isn't it normal?!!".

" No, Ruki changed in this section! He vibrated his voice and changed the end".

After that I and She laughed.Ruki pointed his hand in the air and [13 STAIRS -[1]] was ended perfectedly.Immediately the Melody continue emerged and I heared someone screamed :" This is!!! It's RUTHLESS DEED".Yes, I love this song too.Ruki's voice is wide and this song make me pleased because [RUTHLESS DEED]'s melody is high.Acoustic guitar 's melody was very pure beauty.

The next song is [痴情］.Do you guys remember that when [REMEMBER THE URGE] released, Ruki wrote on Twitter that he liked this song the most ( than REMEMBER THE URGE and CLEVER MONKEY] and He really wanted to perform this song?.When I heard it directly, I completely understood that.the lyrics of [痴情］as if pins my heart.Reitabowed, and Aoi saw us, he shook his head with the melody.Tomomi said to me that she had listened to it in LIVE many times but she always saw that it was very new. When [痴情] ended, [UNTITLED] continue it perfectedly.Ruki took one of the candles near Kai's drum set and put it on his platform. That makes me amazed.Everything became mysterious and I think [痴情] and [UNTITLED] took the soul for the LIVE.I love lyrics of them.Whenever I heard it,my heart felt hurt.Yes, it is really abit shy but I cried in entire the song. Most of people around me cried too.I couldn't see anything. In the end, Ruki blowed out the candle and the hall gradually went black.

[AGONY] is completely diffirent from [UNTITLED]!!!I laughed alot when the GazettE performed it.Ruki's voice is amazing!A spot light lighted Kai when he play the drum section to begin. After that spot lights light up each members.Ruki started his RAP ACTION...Awww, It's really CUTE!!!!!!I learned by heart this song and we begin doing some weird action.(laughs).Uruha came near Ruki and I saw that they smiled with eachother. Then, Uruha came near Aoi and run around the stage. In [CLEVER MONKEY] Aoi seemed headbang!!!I headbanged too and I couldn't remember anything after that!!! ( laughs).I will buy the DVD so I headbanged without watching to STAGE.Ruki's laugh made many FANS scream ( so do I).After [CLEVER MONKEY] there was a SHORT BREAK again.Tomomi asked me :" Do you see that?! Ruki and Reita...".
I immediately screamed :" What??!! EHHH??what happened?!"
" Reita came near to Ruki and Ruki clinged Reita's shouder abit".

Whooaaa!!!I was unlucky!!!She said she was not sure because everything had became disoredered but I still sad!

During [VERMIN] and [PSYCHOPATH] I headbanged and headbanged.Reita, Aoi and Uruha helped Ruki sang by growling into their mics.Reita's voice was loud and power!!!I headbanged during [ HEADACHE MAN] with the cute devil laugh of Ruki!.Ruki is an adorable tiny devil!!!After that is [ FITLTH IN THE BEAUTY].All the members headbanged except Kai.But Kai showed perfectedly his power drum skill!!!I and Tomomi headbanged with eachother. The STAGE was really spirited althought the real temperation is low.END SONG of MAIN PART is [ TOMORROW NEVER DIES].I remember that when I was in Vietnam, I heard this song many time when I was sad and disappointed. So when the others headbanged, I cried. It looks like I was the only one who stood to cry in this song.

When Kai finished his drumming, he threw his drum sticks behind. And they went to BACKSTAGE.

Then [OMEGA] started.I didn't care about the video projected. We called " ENCORE" when the GazettE was still in Backstage. We called loudly so I was excited and pleased.Kai came out and we called his name.He made some signal that I thought he wanted to mention about Power ( sorry!).Suddenly I had a stomachache and I couldn't continue to see them.I heard that everyone screamed. It seemed Reita came out.Reita screamed out, " Yeeeaaahhh" and everyone screamed following to him.I wanted to do that too but my stomachache prevented me!Reita used Ruki's mic as everytime and with Kai's drumming, fans screamed out：

れいた：市川!!!!!!!
私たち:はいいいいいいいい～～～～～～
れいた：覚悟しますか。
私たち：はいいいいいいいい～～～～～

h, I am not Ichikawa's person but I tried to screamed out.At that time I really wanted to see Reita.[ RIDE WITH THE ROCKERS] was very exciting. My soul followed Reita's bass melody, Reita's voice [ he mostly yelled " Oi!Oi!Oi!] and we are very glad,we repeated after him. After that Aoi and Uruha came out.Uruha acted that he asked us to release our soul.I was nearly a crazy girl with [RIDE WITH THE ROCKERS].I didn't felt dizzy anytime!!!Till now I haven't known why at that time I could headbang such that!! [ RIDE WITH THE ROCKERS] is very very GOODDDD~~~~.As many previous LIVE REPORT said that. When [RIDE WITH THE ROCKERS] ended,Ruki came on the stage and the next song was [REMEMBER THE URGE].

I love Kai's drumming at the begin.Uruha's solo was very AMAZING.I sang after Ruki and I was very happy when I heard that song. After that is [COCKROACH].The way Reita performed this song was very cool!!!Reita sang too!!!And...He seemed saying with us something but he didn't use mic so we all couln't understand.Suddenly he made me laugh when i saw him like that!![DISCHARGE] continued and Ruki called " ICHIKAWA" in sometimes.Mostly everybody in here headbanged.Until [LINDA~Candydive Pinky Heaven~] my stomach became normal.Luckily Aoi clapped abit.[At first I was worry he didn't do that].In this song there was some Fanservice too but I didn't remember clearly.Reita and Aoi did something funny. At the end Aoi clapped too~~That made me glad muchh~~~He is very cool~~

After Linda is the 2nd ENCORE.You all know it was [Kantou Dogeza Kumiai] nehh??.Gezz,I really love [AKAI ONEPIECE] so I hoped they performed it but that didn't happened. But no problem, there was a perv - fanservice in Kantou~!!!!I extremely shocked when i saw that!!!At first, Aoi came up Reita from behind,I didn't know why but he kept his leg ( exactly his knee) between Reita's legs!!!(≧_≦) Maybe Reita thought that was a joke of Aoi so he sit on Aoi's thigh ( but my friend Tomomi said that Reita thought Aoi wanted he to sit on Aoi's thigh so he sit on).Aaahh,But Aoi didn't prepare before,Aoi immediately fell down, and so did Reita.Reita even sat on his lap!!!( laughs).Uruha and Ruki turned back to see Aoi and Reita too!!!This was really a disorderrrrr~~~~~~~!!!!!Many of us screamed, but others guffawed.Yesss, that is the most embarrassed FANSERVICE of the GazettE I have ever seen !!!!!Ruki pointed his hand to the sky and called " ICHIKAWA!!!!", we answered and he acted something very coolll~At that time Reita came up Ruki and Uruha did too.Aoi acted like he welcame us and high-fived all of FANS.The LIVE ended up but I was very sorry~~~~Ruki said :"サンキュー市川!!!" ( ehh, Ruki didn't say this thing in English ^^) and after that he left the stage. At the end Ruki seemed quite dizzy and I saw he turned to Reita and smile~~~
We gradually left the hall when the light disappeared.I tried to walk slowly and I was one of the last fans left the hall.STAFF was packing up instruments and cables.I was really happy and I wondered if I could wait for the GazettE when they left Ichikawa Bunka Kaikan. It was raining.I waited there for so long and I met a oversea FAN.She is French and she said she was exchange student for 1 year. She wasn't good at Japanese so I used my french ( quite bad) and my Japanese + my English (abit bad) to talk with her.She was in GFC and during the LIVE she stood near an oversea girl who was in GFC too, but this girl is not the GazettE's FANS (laughs). She enjoyed the LIVE carelessly and after that she used mobile to write message!!!.But she was very lucky. She finished that before STAFFs knew.I couldn't follow the GazettE's car but ok...Everything for me is ok!!!

the LIVE is really exciting, and very goooddd~~~I saw Ruki laughed alot~But I read REPORT in FUKUOKA SUN PALACE (of Sixth_bullet) and I saw that in FUKUOKA the LIVE is more cool and exciting (; ;).[ Because it's wide and there was birthday of Kai nehh?].

My English is quite bad....And the things which happened normally in every LIVE I didn't write. [ Example Ruki pointed his middle finger to us when he sang the last word of VORTEX or the way the GazettE made us cheer up...].This REPORT is quite long.I am sorry m(_ _)m.ごめんなさい！！！
the GazettE LIVE TOUR 2011 "VENOMOUS CELL"
2011/10/10 at Tokyo International Forum Hall A

With the release of their fifth full studio album "TOXIC", the GazettE headed towards a new frontier in Visual-kei. It was not just about the visual aspects of the members' costumes and looks, but the over all visual artwork and means of expression that goes hand in hand with each track of the album.

This became even more apparent with the opening performance of their tour "VENOMOUS CELL", which started at the SOLD OUT Tokyo International Forum only days after the album release.

While the writing "VC" was displayed in huge LED letters in the back of the stage during the standby period, each and every song was underlined with its unique lighting, video and CG sequences.

"INFUSE INTO" opened the set with quickly changing pictures as the band members came on stage, each taking their spots, almost unnoticed, yet of course amongst the cheers of the audience.

The visuals for "VENOMOUS SPIDER`S WEB" opened simply with the words rapidly flashing by, underlining the hard rhythms and the electronic sounds, which the GazettE made to fit together perfectly. The hall was shaking with excitement during each song, where especially the title track of the album "THE SUICIDE CIRCUS" caused the hall to cheer.

However, the audience celebrated the previous songs like "VORTEX", "HEADACHE MAN", "AGONY" or "Hyena" just as much as each new tracks, which created a complete new scene every time.

Songs like "痴情 / CHIJYOU " and "MY DEVIL ON THE BED" had a blunt sexual appeal, be it due to the snake draping itself around a woman's body on the screen, or RUKI's enticing moves with a cane together with the sexy bass lines from Reita. All the while, songs like "Maggots" or "PSYCHOPATH" expressed pure aggression. The fans moved accordingly, head banging wildly, pumping their fists and not giving in to the moments of silence between the songs. Instead they shouted out the names of the band members vigorously.
A different kind of aggression was shown with "RUTHLESS DEED", which was still as powerful as the previous songs, but movements slowed and the tunes were pulling more on the inside; sorrowful and emotionally straining. It had calmed the audience, to perfectly lead into "UNTITLED", which had the audience listen not only with their ears but with their hearts. The shooting-star-like lights wandering over the screen expressed the feeling of the song in all its simplicity and together with the howling guitars of Uruha and Aoi, eventually burst into applause.

"It's been six years since we last played here. It doesn't feel that long at all", RUKI said during his MC. "We have grown a little, though. From here we are starting the new tour and looking at you right here, I am already pleased. There are a lot of new songs, but let's create the mood and flow for all of them together."

"I love you", he added under his breath, but it was received with all the fans cheers and hearts, and it never mattered, how often the band had expressed their compassion for the audience in one way or the other, it was taken in again and again with gratitude.

"The main set was finished with "OMEGA", rounding up the visuals with references to the opening as the band members disappeared from stage for a while.

As it is the GazettE tradition, Reita and Kai were the first to return, presenting their new version of "RIDE WITH THE ROCKERS". The drum and bass duet was followed by the GazettE latest single "REMEMBER THE URGE", which in contrast to the songs from TOXIC seemed much lighter, making it a good opener for the encore.
"BREAK ME" caught the audience by surprise, as it was not only a coupling track from "VORTEX", but also with a number of huge black and white balloons that were thrown into the audience just for fun.

However, the complete set was finished off with well known "classics" and the fans' all-time favorites "COCKROACH" and "DISCHARGE", before demanding everything from the audience once again when finishing with " LINDA ~candidive Pinky heaven~" in the well known manner.

It showed without a doubt, that the old and the new the GazettE songs can fit together perfectly without repeating themselves nor without sounding awkward together.

With this performance the GazettE have certainly shown that Visual-kei, has its name for more reasons than just the looks of the members. They carry the visuals of their art work and their performance to a new level in perfect synchrony, with the spice of being daringly blunt in their way of expression.
All Song Liberating Explanation
All-Member Interview
Alıntı: ruki_candy

INFUSE INTO

RUKI: Because this is the album's entry to the end, time-wise it's compact, so we decided to make something which isn't too impressive from the sound aspect. The original form is the song we played during an FC Tour called [FROM THE DISTORTED CITY] (started in 2008). But, the roughly original form hadn't been fixed. As much as possible, we wanted to create a song which doesn't carry too much specific meaning.

VENOMOUS SPIDER'S WEB

-- This song's lyrics is written by RUKI-kun, right.

RUKI: I think it might be the song which is the strongest in symbolizing the image carried in the album, [TOXIC]. The world has gradually become more and more modernized. In the middle of digitalization, it's not only beneficial, but bugs and error were also born here and there. The digital element inserted in the arrangement is related to that.

-- Then at the same time, with its interweaving play of the flesh and blood, this is the song which creates the highlight scene for the members.

Aoi: In the very beginning, there's a part when together the guitars' sequence barks "Ja, ja, ja!" right? Speaking about the mood, that part was played in the nostalgic "Juliana Tokyo" * kind of feeling (laughs). To put it in words, it is a bit calm. But while putting in the digital element, when we felt like we don't want to make it that much of a digital sound, there were some points where we compromised and it became like that.
(*) An old Japanese discothèque operated in the early 1990s.

Uruha: This song has various elements in it, it was difficult to pursue the sounds. Just like what Aoi said, this is a song where the sound of a band mingles with digital parts. The guitars also bring sounds resulted from a tricky approach, but we organized it so it doesn't turn out to be strangely fickle.

Kai: Starting from this year, we're in the middle of reaching the point that we're able to produce the sounds we wanted in recording. This song was also recorded in good condition.

Reita: When we were recording, it hadn't been decided that this song will be put right after the SE ended. Now that we put this song here, suddenly I think this has turned out to be an exciting album right from the beginning. To say it personally, the drums recorded in this song has really great sounds, and because of that there were times when I thought that the bass can't lose (laughs). That's why before recording I was practicing the who~le time.

Aoi: That is for the sake of recording in one take?

Reita: That's right. These days, in the editing, aren't you able to cut and paste things as you pleased? But if you play (your instruments) properly, recording it in one go will absolutely make it a better take. I put my spirit into it and recorded it.

-- By the way, the development of the ending in this song is very unique. The coercive feeling in the middle, how is it going to be in the next live?

Uruha: Aa, that is coercive (laughs). However, I think maybe for the live we will reproduce it as it is. No matter how there will be a good balance with the song coming after that, we want to introduce the mood properly.

SLUDGY CULT

-- I was surprised by this song's depth (laughs). An absolutely intense finishing touch.

Kai: It isn't just simply deep, there's a sudden break in the middle of this song. There's peculiarity, as well as difficult spot. Up until now we hadn't had this kind of developing song.

RUKI: The truth is, the steps in the original melody is deeper than this. But there, Kai said, "This is not a song a human can play." (laughs), so we slowed down the speed a little.

-- In the middle there is Reita-kun's bass solo, but there seemed to be trial and errors until it became like that.

Reita: Speaking about the length, the bass solo is a bit short, but this time I recorded that part over and over again. I needed to rise the tension just like during live to play and handle such depth only in that packed phrase. Unexpectedly, because I had never really done such thing with that much tension in the studio, it took time to grasp the feeling.

-- Again, in this song there are a lot of phrases played in unison by the stringed instrument team. In short, this may be a song in which it's important to let out the group feelings.

Aoi: Certainly, in the recording as well, this is the song whose mood was settled in one go. It would be over soon if it's too much, so it's like there's no remaining recollection about this song (laughs).

Uruha: For me, this is a song which has miraculous points. In the beginning, guitar rock or melodic hardcore atmosphere was felt. But, when I tried to do it for real, just vigour won't make it interesting. Mute, cutting, tapping, this has become a song fully loaded with various elements. Different from the usual rock, I'm happy that the GazettE-like fun and originality can come out in the sounds.

-- Well then, I'd like to ask about the theme of the lyrics. The title is [SLUDGY CULT], and just like it's been expressed, the subject is very cynical.

RUKI: But, it doesn't particularly criticize something. The fans, too, if they only look at these words they might not understand the meaning well. We~ll, this is what I thought unintentionally. Isn't everyone precious, kind of feeling? It's not that I want to hit and attack someone with something, just letting out something inside me arbitrarily with somewhat punk spirit, it's that kind of song. That's why without exploring too deeply about the meaning of the words, but instead listening to it as "a song" will make my scream come accross straighter. That's what I feel.

RED

-- This is something which has come out in a single, and it seems that the mixing is different.

Kai: Yes. We fixed the mixing only for the drum sounds. When we assembled the newly written songs, once again we tried to line all songs up and listen to them. When we did that, the sound of the songs coming from singles became a little light. Because when we were recording some of the singles, especially starting from this year, the method of recording the drums changed considerably. Of course, originally my true feeling was to put it in like that without really touching the sound. But thinking about totality of the album, we modified the balance.

RUKI: To a certain extent, in the mix the low vocal is emphasized. By the way, a little back then on twitter I kind of wrote things like, "We're mixing [Red]". After I did that, "I'm looking forward to what kind of composition it will be." I got that kind of replies. I am gonna say this beforehand, the remix I said isn't the kind of remix which was entrusted to some DJ (laughs).

Uruha: I see, when one says remix there are people who think like that. Way to use words is difficult.

Kai: The song shape stays like that, simply only the drum sound's balance was changed. Because it's that kind of remix, so please don't misunderstand to that extent (laughs).

RUKI: This time, because of the remix we had done, we discovered that "Originally, this is how the song should be listened."

THE SUICIDE CIRCUS

-- In a sense, it can be said that this song is the representative song in this album. This time, it seems that you've shot a PV, right.

Reita: The (music) clip, it's amazing. There were so many people who stood out more than us (laughs).

Uruha: It's terrific, isn't it. Seriously unreasonably cool.

Reita: First of all it's a big assembly of the type of people you can't meet if you walk down the road just as usual (laughs).
Kai: Certainly (laughs).

-- Eeh?! What do you mean?

Aoi: Except for us, the (music) clip turned out to be like a circus group.

Uruha: The place where we shot it (the PV), because it was an amusement park which isn't used anymore. It was a very special situation. The lightings attached around the Merry-Go-Round, for example, had been renewed for this photoshoot, too. It was impressive up to the small details, so you better watch it.

-- The original plot for the (music) clip, was it RUKI-kun who planned it?

RUKI: That's right. I turned in the rough draft. In the beginning, I described in details for example the incidents happening in Japan now one by one, and I also had been thinking to show those incidents, too. But when we tried to film it, but more than the detailed happenings, the whole atmosphere resulted in a (music) clip with a peculiar feeling. Well, it's not a movie but a clip, that's why this is interesting.

-- When RUKI-kun were writing the lyrics, what kind of things did you aim for?

RUKI: This so-called "SUICIDE CIRCUS" here means a show. The main point was the information flowing from television or somewhere, for example. Regarding the (music) clip, it depicts the condition where people's senses are gradually becoming numb.

-- So <Vision's decay> in the beginning (of the song) is the words that summarized the aspect.

RUKI: Well, at least that's how I see it, I just wrote it as it is.

-- I see. Well then, about the sound aspect, I'd be happy if you could tell us about the point in each part of the instruments.

Kai: This song has been the foundation song to produce [TOXIC], at any rate producing the sound took up the longest time.

Uruha: With Kai, the two of us tried absolutely every possibility, from dynamic mics to everything. Moreover, in the end we said "As I thought let's try doing the foundation with the usual method". When we didn't do anything and just continued doing it with the same manner after experimenting on various things, as I thought the sensation aspect was different. That's why we didn't have any problem after we started the recording itself. I'm glad we tried it.

-- If anything, piling up experience is an important thing.

Reita: Concerning the bass, in this album, this is a song in which we didn't put all the unique elements, and the phrases are played only by the chord. Only in this song, playing simple is a better settlement.

Aoi: About the melody, for the whole band rather than playing it frantically vigorous, it's more about where in this song it can be called as show-like. While playing it, I thought it would be good if this song has capability to make (people) dance. The moment I received the song, it was a song which immediately filled my head with how we want to present this song in live or PV. That's why for the arrangement, I made the outcome really simple. My decision to make phrases that can still be played while dancing, whether it's right or not, I think it can be verified at the next live's place. Or perhaps I should say, I want to verify it (laughs).

SHIVER

-- Already, when I listen to this song I even feel a little nostalgic.

Kai: Yes, because this is a song which came out more than a year ago.

Uruha: When I listen to it now, I feel that at that time there was a peculiar tension.

RUKI: To put it simply, it was last year's sound. That's why as much as possible this song was also remixed with focusing on the drums so that it doesn't seem out of place inside the album.

Reita: The difference in the sound I produced, if it's compared to the previous (sound), it's the object of brief entertainment.

Aoi: But look, if we didn't say especially "We will remix it", unexpectedly the fans won't notice, will they (laughs)??

Reita: Oi, don't say something like that (laughs).

MY DEVIL ON THE BED

-- This is Uruha-kun's song, isn't it.

Aoi: The temporary title for this song was [SHOW TIME], right?

Uruha: Yes, tentatively (laughs). But, because it was really temporary. I think during the next live, it will be fresh to have a song which can create sort of a "show time" scene, so this is what I created in my own special way. Because it's a song with continuous springing up rythm, I think won't it excite the audience easily?

-- In this song's intro, there are parts where the rythm section has to work hard as the leader, right.

Reita: That, before the singing part comes in, to say the truth I was a bit uneasy. Only with the sound coming from two people, to what extent is it possible for us to carry the aura? I think like that (laughs).

Uruha: Moreover, isn't this kind of rhythm your favorite type?

Kai: Umm. I wonder if it is? If you ask me which one is it, I think it can be this one (bitter laughs).

RUKI: Eh, really? I thought your favorite one is shuffle (laughs).

Kai: No, up until now I thought like that too. But look, trying to do this song this time might have changed my judgement. Up until now I make mistakes in hitting (the drums) for the type of songs I've never played before, too, but as I thought this one is difficult.

-- So to that extent, this is a personal song.

Uruha: Because he seemed out to be pretty high strung, during the recording when I said, "I want to change this part" I was flipped by, "Why is that!" (bitter laughs)

Kai: Wait a minute, it wasn't like that! I think I said, "Eh?!" but it wasn't like I flipped you off, after that didn't I play the drums properly! Haven't I been accepting a~ll of your requests? (laughs)

Uruha: No, but even so you looked at me like you're angry-- (laughs)

Reita: Eh, so he was angry at you to that extent (laughs)

Kai: Give me a break already (laughs)

-- At any rate, that kind of diligent application existed for the first time, as a band I think it's a sign of growth.

Aoi: I wonder what it is, it's either growth or breakup (laughs)

Uruha: This time, at the last moment (Kai) was at the form of avoiding (me) (laughs). I mean, in that kind of time it's better to make the other party angry. Because then it will stir him up.

-- As expected from the evil professor (laughs).

Aoi: In my case too, in this song I was coached by Professor Uruha about the muted phrase part. "There is vital!" he said that to me and I tried my best, but as I thought it was a bit difficult. When I think like that, I don't really like shuffle either (laughs) If it's possible, I hope you will restrain from doing so next time.

Uruha: (bitterly laughs, in silence)

-- Nevertheless, I think the fans like this type of songs very much. Moreover, finally I think with the great members, too, this take has landed in a quite exquisite place.

Aoi: You understand? It's just that Professor Uruha's eyes are scary even to that extent (laughs).

Kai: Ahaha (laughs). Anyway, I will be happy if we have more time if we do recording in this method next time (bitter laughs).

-- By the way, about [MY DEVIL ON THE BED], the subject of the lyrics is altogether filled up to the limit by erotic expression, I've been thinking about that point, too.

RUKI: Aa, because this is purely a SEX song (laughs).

-- So blunt (laughs).

RUKI: Because to convey about what meaning which exists in such song is also somewhat.... . Both the song and the sounds, it had an erotic feeling.

-- Sounds which has sex appeal for all the members.

RUKI: Right, right. That's why I thought there's no other choice than to make it a SEX song to the end. I'm saying this as a joke (laughs).

UNTITLED

-- Deep song, violent song, and erotic song, while listening to utterly various things, this so-called ballad here is an admirable development.

RUKI: For the first time, this was a song I wrote with the night sky as the theme.

-- And just like that it somehow became a beautiful song.

RUKI: When it comes to ballads, up until now there have been a lot of songs that are generally agonizing (laughs). But only for this one, it's a song that I wrote while being reminded of the peaceful and unduly wide night sky.

Aoi: He's a poet, as one would expect.

Reita: The night sky that RUKI saw, I might have seen it as well.

Uruha: I saw it too!

RUKI: Oi, what's with you guys! Suddenly I have bad feeling (bitter laughs)!

Kai: Ahahaha (laughs).

-- Just like how you made fun the conversation, this song's beauty must have touched all of you.

RUKI: Aa, certainly I thought of making it a beautiful song.

-- In order to impersonate this delicate beauty, what did all the players keep in mind during recording?

Uruha: It's about the coexisting SE, right. When I heard this song, the synchronous "powapowa" sound starting from the intro, I thought it's important in this song. If it wasn't been there, wouldn't it be an ordinary rock ballad? To such extent. But because it's a really delicate sound, if we play the guitars excessively the sound will be concealed. There we adjust it skillfully.

Aoi: As I thought, no matter how I say it, this song is based on the melody, isn't it. In other words, if RUKI's voice were an aurora, the sounds we let out would be the stars shining behind it. ... Go laugh at it!

Reita: I can't laugh at it (bitter laugh). But, my intention was also to play it in simple tones. It doesn't stand out, but the whole time I persist for a play that can support the song.

Kai: Concerning the drums, instead of the snare drum which sounds like it's echoing from faraway as RUKI wish, I adjust it to be like the sounds which come out before. That part, I think won't it make the song feature clearer?

-- While this is a song which reminds you of such tale or scene, the given title is [UNTITLED]. What's the reason of not giving it a definite word?

RUKI: I've thought of some. But I couldn't find the appropriate word to name this. I thought, if that's the case, then I rather make it untitled and even express the drifting sense of nothingness there.

-- Personally, how the scene changes from [MY DEVIL ON THE BED] to [UNTITLED], then continuing to the next [PLEDGE], I like the line up of these three songs. With the exception of these three songs, there are only strong musical composition about the society. From these three songs, the real love condition exceptionally tastes strong.

Uruha: Ah, the flow right. From SEX to the romantic night sky (laughs).

Reita: Then in the next [PLEDGE] you vow on love (laughs).

Aoi: There's man and woman drama, right~.

PLEDGE

-- This song, even if we don't listen to it in winter it really soaks in. It's been reaffirmed that this is a good song.

Uruha: As expected, this ballad is good in the line up. If this can't be connected after it's inserted in the album, I feel that the impression will be completely different.

RUKI: The story itself is also connected, right.

Uruha: You mean how [MY DEVIL~] is included, too?

RUKI: Yes, true (laughs).

RUTHLESS DEED

-- The eerie, turbulent maliciousness can also be felt in this song.

Uruha: When I made the original melody, I composed it with the image of "nil". And how it has become a song with a strong impact, I think that's because of the words RUKi attached to it.

-- In the beginning, the repeating monologue-like voicing is included. Really, the influence of the words in this song is unfathomable.

RUKI: The so-called paradox is like this. The things that people created happened to be a harm to others, isn't there such reality? Even though from the beginning we must have known that there's such possibility. There's nothing but this kind of paradox.

Uruha: It completely points towards [__]* right.
(*) They censored it, probably because it's a taboo topic.

-- <The pouring out punishment> to <The ruthless light> is quite a symbol.

RUKI: But, in this world touching this kind of scene has been like a taboo. When I was writing it, I thought if it will be something bad if write about such things.

-- There's no way it can be a bad thing. In Japan, originally freedom of speech and the implementation of the freedom are one major privileges provided for the whole nation.

RUKI: Well, how to say it? We don't know what people think when they listen to this, right? Even if there are people who will start talking about it, in that case, (I'll go) "Well, isn't it okay." I have been thinking about that too (laughs).

-- It's possible to obtain agreement or approval of this subject from people who listen to this song, though. Like, "Right! I think the same!"

RUKI: Hmm. I think everyone don't think that they all have the same thought. If you see Japan's current situation, you can only think the same. For me, at least I want to open the third eye in various kinds of people.

-- Somehow or other, the story seems to be connected to the lyrics in [THE SUICIDE CIRCUS]. In a sense that if one keeps thinking to swallow the news one got from other people, one might fail to notice an important truth.

RUKI: What's the problem in Japan nowadays? Things like that, too, won't one understand if one keeps thinking about such matter? I feel that the important thing now is to properly grasp the reality more than anything. Thereby, the so-called "hereafter" will change. A soothing song or a cheering song are okay, too, but from now on I think I want to express the reality that we can't turn away from in my work.

PSYCHOPATH

-- Inside [TOXIC] this is certainly the most striking song.

Kai: We barely made it, but because we ought to clear it up somehow we managed to do it. It was considerably a tough song (bitter laughs).

Reita: It's deep, but it was really difficult to produce a sound with such intensity. I think perhaps doing it at live will be difficult, too. If I can only let out the ordinary roaring sound, the flavor this song has can't be kept alive. I want to pay attention to that.

Aoi: During the recording, we were also speculating about doing it at live to some extent. But, from now on there's still possibilities to touch up the sound just a little bit more. This is quite a song worth-drilling.

Uruha; Such death-metal-like song, we've had it among the songs we have up until now, but there haven't been so many of them. So hereafter while producing edgier and sharp nuance, we need to bring the song up to the level we want.

-- From the lyric aspect, this [PSYCHOPATH], doesn't it seem to be a song which digs up and exposes something under a broad daylight?

RUKI: That's right. To say it in one word, what's in here is a soul's scream. But it isn't just talking about deep matters. This time, in the booklet there's translation printed side by side with the original lyrics. So to start with, looking at it will be the quick way.

VORTEX

-- Listening to this after [PSYCHOPATH], the degree of reconfirming is amazing.

RUKI: Lining up these two songs, with the next [TOMORROW NEVER DIES], the flow they create makes the atmosphere feel like it's already nearing the second half of live.

Aoi: Especially, [VORTEX] has already soaked in lives, right. Even though we haven't played it many times, but for example at Summer Sonic we could play it with a really good feeling, and it was fun.

TOMORROW NEVER DIES

-- It seems like this song was made and directed towards the fan and listeners. The strong and warm message resounds frankly and it is great.

RUKI: This was made as it is so that it is directed to everyone. I wanted to put this song at the very end this time.

-- In general, this album has many musical compositions which have agressive tone, but the sound accompanied by the refreshing feeling one can hear in this song is somehow unusually fresh. In some respects, there are parts which feel like they can clean your heart.

Aoi: However, because it's a song with relatively a lot of scene development, for me this song might have been a handful.

Kai: It's a song with a lot of modulations, right.

Uruha: Particularly the first half of the song is the spirit. More or less the result of trials and errors became the sound that attacks with this kind of guitar. If I play it with downpicking at every live, my right hand will get tendonitis (bitter laughs).

Reita: Me too, I played this song with a new fingering method I worked out. But, I think it became a greatly appropriate song to sum up such an substantial album.

RUKI: Inside this album, there are many forms of the "present", but these are my honest feelings now. I guess the point is like "You guys! Live somewhat sternly already!" (laughs). It includes things that I want everyone to never forget.

OMEGA

-- This ending SE, it's something Uruha-kun made.

Uruha: Yes. Ruki said he wanted a chaotic SE that seems like everything will break apart, so I put the sounds together this way.
