What’s the Purpose?

The Apostle Paul was a very powerful force for Christ after his conversion. We need to give praise to God for the power of one changed life. Paul gave up his family when he became a Christian. He took awhile to work out the issues with his family. Did any of his family become Christians? We do not know but it did not deter him from doing God’s work. We have to live our eternal lives now and not wait on heaven. We need to be Christians. As Russ looks at Galatians 1:11-24, we need to be thankful to God for our family and be respectful. We find out that our actions bear consequences and we need to realize the influence we have with all our friends and family. Russ speaks on Mother’s day about the best gift we can give our mothers is an authentic life for Jesus.

Backpack Program

The congregation has decided to start a food backpack program. Some of the children in thr Guyandotte area do not have enough food on the weekends. Members get together on Friday and put together food in backpacks for the children to take home for the weekend. They return the backpack on Mondays. We are working with the local elmentary school with the distribution of the backpacks. Currently, we are providing food for about 20 children.

Boys & Girls Club

The congregation has decided to help local entities in the Guyandotte area. We want the Guyandotte community to understand that we care about them. This past Saturday, a group of members went to the Boys and Girls Club of Huntington at Guyandotte to help clean and paint. Since we had bad weather, we mainly cleaned inside. We will be returning in a future date to help with painting the basketball court and other things.

Ladies Night Out

Mother/Daughter Banquet

Come celebrate Mother’s Day at the Mother/Daughter Banquet. This fellowship is a good time for daughters to honor their mothers. The men need to be at the church to help at 2:00. All women of the church are invited. Please sign up so that we know how many will attend. Mary Beth Roy will be the speaker this year.

Vacation Bible School

Community Dinner

One of our community efforts is to provide a hot meal once a month to the surrounding community. We call it, community dinners. “Everyone is welcome.”, says Jackie Thompson, community dinner director. We have a short devotion, prayer and a nice meal. Many from the community have come for the dinners and relationships between the congregation and community has grown. Watch the sign in front of the church building for the next time a community dinner is served. Our next community dinner will be May 31st at noon.

Lunch Club
