The Super 15 is the largest rugby union football club championship in the southern hemisphere, consisting of provincial teams from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

Stormers vs Bulls Preview :

The stats show that the Stormers beat the Bulls 10-38 in the regular season matches last year but that result doesn't really count as the Bulls rested almost their entire squad as the next round was the play offs and they had already sealed a home semi and potential home final.

The reality is that the Stormers have not really beaten the Bulls since 2004 and a year earlier in 2003 since they won at Loftus.

The result is that seven of the Bulls' stalwarts have not lost a Super Rugby game against a fellow South African side in 13 outings.

The last time Bulls centre Wynand Olivier, scrumhalf Fourie du Preez, flyhalf Morne Steyn, No 8 Pierre Spies, lock Danie Rossouw and prop Gurthro Steenkamp felt the disappointment of losing a South African derby was 13 games ago, against the Sharks on 1 March 2008.

Victor Matfield boasts an even better record. The defending champions' captain and lock last lost to a South African team back in February of 2007, when his team suffered a 17-3 loss to The Sharks in Durban.

Matfield missed the Super Rugby season in 2008, when he was playing club rugby for Toulon in France.

These seven players have been instrumental in the recent success of the Pretoria team, winning back to back Super 14 titles in 2009 and 2010.

Their winning streak against South African opposition includes a victory against the Stormers in last year's memorable final in Soweto.

Only one player in the Stormers squad for 2011, veteran fullback Conrad Jantjes, knows that winning Super Rugby feeling at Loftus playing against the Bulls and unfortunately for the Stormers Jantjies will miss this game due to injury (Achilles strain).

Jantjes wasn't even part of the Stormers when he tasted victory over the Bulls as he was part of the Cats team that beat the Bulls 44-31 way back on 23 February 2002.

Apart from winning their last three matches against the Stormers at Loftus Versfeld, the Bulls also took the spoils in last year's Super 14 final, played at Orlando Stadium in Soweto and treated as a home game to them because of the unavailability of their Pretoria fortress.

Two of these games - the 14-75 massacre in 2005 and the 12- 49 loss in 2007, still rank as two of the Stormers' biggest ever defeats. In 2009 they fared much better, losing by only 10-14 in Pretoria.

Pebble Beach is just a short week away, but first the PGA Tour heads to Memphis for the St. Jude Classic.

Brian Gay crushed the field in last year's tournament, holding the lead from the first round through Sunday evening. He hasn't won a tournament since, but is back in the field to defend his title at TPC Southwind.

Some of the bigger names are taking a rest to prepare for Pebble, but the field is not short of talent. Three players in the top 10 mixed in with four 2010 winners will provide tough competition. Adding John Daly in the mix is a recipe for entertainment.

The TPC at Southwind has ranked in the top-10 most difficult courses on the PGA Tour schedule. Stretching to over 7,200 yards and with a par of just 70, the tournament does not tend to produce low scoring. Last year Justin Leonard tied with Robert Allenby and Trevor Immelman on a 72-hole total of four-under-par, before going on to take the title in a sudden-death playoff.

Phil Mickelson is back in action this week for the first time since his wife Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer. Justin Leonard – Last year’s winner is on solid form again in 2009. He’s had five top-10 finishes in Memphis.

He’s had five top-10 finishes in 2009 and is currently leading the tour in driving accuracy – a key attribute for success at Southwind.

Phil Mickelson – He’ll be looking to get back into the groove before next week’s US Open. Given it’s a course where players tend to miss a high percentage of greens, Mickelson’s scrambling skills could come to the fore here.

Key hole: 16th. At 530 yards it’s an eminently reachable par five. The approach shot must be played uphill to a small, well-bunkered green. Realistically, anything worse than birdie here will feel like a dropped shot.

Skills required: Power hitting. The course is 7,244 yards but with a par of just 70 it plays long. There are seven par fours measuring over 450 yards.

It’s been a long and brutal road to the 2011 Stanley Cup Championship, but the Vancouver Canucks and Boston Bruins have found their way to hockey’s most exciting stage.

Vancouver is looking for their first ever Stanley Cup, and with the way Henrik Sedin and Ryan Kesler have been playing recently the Canucks are coming into the Stanley Cup playing their best playoff hockey yet.

Boston has five Stanley Cup championships to their name but the Bruins have not won one since 1971. They have the best goaltender in the game right now in Tim Thomas, and his road to this point has been a long one, having faced two Game 7s in this postseason alone. The late-blooming goaltender has a lot of pressure on his shoulders, as well as the weight of the die-hard Boston fans.

As the final buzzer signaled the end of the Eastern Conference finals, Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli watched his players celebrate their Game 7 win over the Lightning. He observed each one of them individually to capture the emotion of the moment.

Vancouver, as already noted, has been led by Henrik Sedin and Ryan Kesler the past two series, but their offensive attack is a lot deeper than two scores. The Canucks have depth thanks to the third line of Maxim Lapierre, Raffi Torres and Jannik Hansen. Not always scoring, the third line gives the Canucks a burst of energy that many other NHL teams lack in their third line.

Boston is mainly a defense-orientated team, but they do have some players who can light the lamp. David Krejci has a playoff-leading 10 goals along with seven assists. Krejci shares a line with Nathan Horton. Both have been Boston’s two biggest clutch players. Horton has three game winners, and all of his eight goals have been in victories.

When push comes to shove, you can’t deny that the Canucks have the best all-around team in the NHL. The series will be a grind to the very end though because of the stubborn Boston defense and goaltender, but I suspect the Canucks’ offense and tremendous power play unit will be the deciding factor in this year’s Stanley Cup Championship.

Dauphine Libere Preview :

A Tour de France contender's final race preparations invariably consist of one of two races: the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré or the Tour de Suisse.

It would be madness to do both, which in part explains the reason why the two are run semi-concurrently, with the last two days of the Dauphiné Libéré overlapping with the first two stages of the Tour de Suisse.

In the last six years, six-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong has participated in five editions of the Dauphiné (1999-2000, 2002-04) and just once at the Tour de Suisse (2001). During that time, he's had a 50 percent strike rate in coming out on top, beating Gilberto Simoni for the Tour de Suisse title in 2001 and winning the Dauphiné in 2002 and 2003; not a bad effort for someone who's always used the race as a warm-up for the Tour.

However, it seems that as the now 33 year-old Texan grows older, he's had to tame his voracious appetite for winning. In last year's Dauphiné, it was clear he was holding back - particularly on the fourth stage TT to Le Mont Ventoux, where he finished almost two minutes behind eventual winner Iban Mayo from Euskaltel-Euskadi. Mayo went on to a very lacklustre performance in July, eventually quitting the race, while Armstrong crushed his rivals in yet another flawless demonstration of measured strength, cunning and teamwork.

This year - his last as a professional cyclist - he's likely to do the same at Le Dauphiné: no heroics, just controlled efforts, making sure he'll be where he wants to be come the Tour. Of course, if there's an opportunity to win, don't count him out.

And I think I should run as close as possible to 8 minutes," said Koech for the organizers. He won in Ostrava 2008, was second in 2003, third in 2009 and had bad luck in 2006 when leading and the bell was ringing one lap earlier (he re-started the race, but that was already only enough for a dq). In the indoor season Koech improved the 2000 m steeple world best to 5:13.77 and before Ostrava plans to run only one important race, the Shanghai Diamond League.

Other two star athletes announced now are returning for their second Ostrava outing. Double world champion (2007 and 2009) Kerron Clement of USA will face at 400 m hurdles strong opposition in Euro gold medalist Dai Greene and current world leader LJ Van Zyl of South Africa. Organizers are hoping that first sub 48 at Czech territory might be possible. "I'm really excited to be coming back to Ostrava this year. Your fans are the best and I can't wait to put on a great performance for you guys," Clement was saying in a prepared statement. He is planning to open at Jamaica Invitational on May 7 in Kingston (IAAF World Challenge) and then will be running in Rome at Samsung Diamond League meet (there he will already meet with Greene and Van Zyl).

As Zomegnan has shown since 2005, he’s a big fan of the mountain time trial. This year’s follows the second rest day. Although the run up to the resort of Nevegal may not compare to Plan de Corones, it won’t have time trial specialists rubbing their hands with glee either. Apart from a short descent at the start, this stage is all climbing, sometimes steeply so. The middle 4km of the stage averages more than 10 per cent, ramping up to 14 per cent as the route reaches Tornante. Stefano Garzelli won the equivalent stage last year – Contador and Joaquim Rodríguez will have the legs for it too.

No stage is straightforward by this point in a grand tour, certainly not one of 230km. But while the route heads west through the Alps, it isn’t overly intimidating despite the presence of two regular Giro climbs. The Passo Tonale featured last year, when Swiss rider Johann Tschopp held off the favourites to win, but doesn’t compare with some of the tests in this region. That goes for the Aprica too. Any riders still clear of the pack when it’s over have reason to be optimistic about success because it’s all downhill to Tirano.

Many riders will know today’s roads well, since they pass through one of the heartlands of Italian cycling: the province of Bergamo. After heading towards and alongside Lake Como, the route moves south through Lecco and Bergamo before turning north again towards the town of San Pellegrino Terme. Before that, though, lies the Passo di Ganda. At 1,060m, it isn’t even middling by Giro standards but could still offer an intriguing finale, since the twisting descent off it runs into the finish. Today, the race heads back through Turin and out into the western mountains for its final climbing test. It’s surprising it’s taken six years for the Colle delle Finestre to reappear at the Giro, given the gripping action it saw in 2005 when Paolo Savoldelli came close to losing the maglia rosa as José Rujano and Gilberto Simoni joined forces against him. Let’s hope for something equally enthralling. The race then climbs to Sestriere, which first appeared on the Giro route 100 years ago. This final summit finish offers a chance for a late shake-up of the overall order and may even deliver a new leader.

At almost 32km, this flat time trial brings the race total to just over the grand tour limit of 3,500km. It’s a simple out-and-back test, starting outside the Castello Sforzesco, heading northwest to the Milan exhibition centre, then turning back to finish in the Piazza del Duomo. Three years ago, Marco Pinotti won the equivalent TT into Milan as Alberto Contador claimed the overall title, which could be repeated today. Nibali and Denis Menchov showed last year that they tend to have something in the tank this far into a grand tour, which may also give them a vital edge.

All the focus has been on the Blues in the lead up to this year’s State of Origin opener, as they desperately look to avert a historic (some would say notorious) sixth straight series defeat. For the first time they have appointed a specialist coach in Ricky Stuart – the last Blues coach to win a series, back in 2005.

His policy of only picking players in their specialist club positions, as well as picking players who play the style of game that he wants the Blues to play, has resulted in the controversial omissions of Jarryd Hayne and Jamal Idris.

In all, 10 players have been returned from the side that almost snatched victory in Game Three last year. Among the seven players to make way, winger Michael Gordon and utility Kurt Gidley are injured and pivot Trent Barrett has retired. Lack of game time may have hurt Luke Lewis’ chances, while Hayne, Anthony Watmough and Tom Learoyd-Lahrs were the other players dropped.

Idris did not play in Game Three last year but now joins a select group of players including Anthony Watmouogh (2009) and Brent Kite (2008) to miss Origin selection after playing for Australia in the early season Test.

The new players include Josh Dugan at fullback, Akuila Uate on the wing, Mark Gasnier in the centres, Jamie Soward at five-eighth and Ben Creagh, Trent Merrin and Dean Young on the bench. All have been rewarded for excellent form this year at club level and/or the City-Country match.

Watch Out Queensland: The much-maligned Jamie Soward finally makes his Origin debut, and few people could argue that the Blues have picked the most in-form pivot available. Soward’s precision kicking and passing game have been a huge part of the Dragons’ success over the past two seasons, and it’s an area where New South Wales have struggled since the retirement of Andrew Johns.

Soward has kicked the most times in the NRL this year, with 134, and his 4981 kick metres are well clear of second-placed James Maloney (3898). His 12 try assists – many of those from kicks – are behind only Johnathan Thurston’s 14. His running game, often perceived as a weakness, has also come into its own this year, as witnessed by his dismantling of the Parramatta Eels in Round 8 when he broke the line three times and ran for 161 metres.

Kicking is a crucial piece of the puzzle for the Blues, and how Queensland handle Soward’s range of kicks will go a long way to determining the result. In particular his long, low, driving kicks don’t give opposition backs as much time to get under the ball and run it back at pace, often turning them around and helping chasers pin those players down early in a set.

Watch Out New South Wales: Where do we start? There’s a reason the Maroons have won five in a row, and there’s a reason they supplied 10 of the 13 starting players for Australia in the recent VB Test. Four of those reasons are named Slater, Lockyer, Thurston and Smith, who fill the crucial 1-6-7-9 roles that make up the spine of a football side.

Of those four world class players, any one of them is capable of turning an Origin match, but if we had to pick one, Thurston seems to be in a league of his own in 2011. ‘JT’ has a habit of playing out of his skin in Origin, regardless of what his form is like coming into the game or whether he’s under an injury cloud.

This year he enters the Origin arena in what could quite possibly be the best form of his career. Thurston leads the NRL for try assists with 14 (next best is Benji Marshall with 12) and line-break assists (19 – next best Jarryd Hayne, 12). If you cut it back to just halfbacks, Thurston also leads the way in line-breaks (seven), tries (six) and average running metres (73.7), and is second in offloads (11) and tackle-breaks (31).

His father began calling Woods by the pet name "Tiger" in honor of a fellow soldier and friend who had the same moniker.

Woods learned to play golf as a child. His father, Earl, served as his teacher and mentor. Around the age of eight, Woods had become tremendously proficient at the game, showing off his skills on such television shows as Good Morning America.

He studied at Stanford University, and won a number of amateur U.S. golf titles before turning professional in 1996. Woods shot to fame after winning the U.S. Masters at Augusta in 1997—with a record score of 270—at the age of 21. Woods was the youngest man to earn the title, and the first African-American to achieve this feat.

In his first manifestation at the British Open later that year, Woods tied the course record of 64. The next few years brought even more successes, including four US PGA titles, three U.S. Open wins, three unlock Championship wins, and three U.S. Masters wins.

In 2003, amongst Woods' five wins were the Buick Invitational and the Western Open. The next year, Woods won only one official PGA Tour championship. While he may have had some challenges on the course, his personal life was running effortlessly. Woods married his longtime girlfriend Elin Nordegren, a Swedish model, in October of 2004.

Returning to dominate the sport, he won six championships in 2005 and was voted the PGA Tour Player of Year for the seventh time in nine years.

Woods knowledgeable a great personal loss in 2006. His father died in May after battling prostate cancer. Woods remarked on his website at the time, "My dad was my best friend and greatest role model, and I will miss him deeply." Despite his grief, Woods returned to golf and won several events, including the PGA championship and the British Open.

The next season was marked by many wins personally and efficiently. His wife gave birth to the couple's first child, Sam Alexis Woods, on June 18, 2007. After taking some time off to welcome his daughter, he won the World Golf Championship and US PGA Championship in August 2007.

The next month, Woods' winning ways continued, garnering the pinnacle spot at the BMW Championship and The Tour Championship. He was named Player of the Year by the other participants in the PGA Tour and won his eighth Arnold Palmer Award for being the lead money earner on the tour.

Woods won the U.S. Open on June 16, 2008, in a 19-hole playoff, overcoming sporadic pain in his left knee from arthroscopic surgery performed on April 15. Woods shot a par four on the first and only hole of sudden death while American Rocco Mediate, 45, settled for a bogey.

The sudden death duel at Torrey Pines in San Diego followed an 18-hole playoff, which saw the two finish at par. In that playoff, Woods led Mediate by three shots after the first ten holes. arbitrate then birdied three of the next five holes and take the lead. But on the final hole, Woods birdied while Mediate shot par, forcing the sudden death playoff."I think this is probably the best ever," Woods said. "All things considered, I don't know how I ended up in this position, to be honest with you." The victory gave Woods his third U.S. Open championship and 14th major title. He's now just four behind the all-time evidence held by Jack Nicklaus.

So far, during two periods of his vocation he has slumped, citing focus on honing his swing each time, after which he successfully rebounded. But interest in the game has remained, and since Tiger began professional play televised golf ratings have steadily raised and at present top baseball and basketball. However, viewership skyrockets when Tiger is playing well or leading. In turn, despite the negative press at the beginning of his career, Tiger has almost single-handedly revolutionized the game, spawning a huge boom of interest in the sport by casual spectators.

Throughout the course of his illustrious career, Tiger has won 10 Majors, 46 PGA Tournaments, and a combined 36 wins between the Asian Tour, PGA European Tour, World Cup of Golf, and several other unofficial events. He's established several charity organizations, including the Tiger Woods Foundation, a charity that benefits children, which he created with his father.

On April 8, 2001, Woods won the sixty-fifth Masters Tournament at the Augusta National Golf Club. The win made him the only golfer in the past to hold the four major championship titles at the same time.

Rajasthan Royals skipper Shane Warne on Friday brought the curtains down on his illustrious career with an easy 10-wicket win over Mumbai Indians and the Australian spin legend hoped his four-year stint in the Indian Premier League helped Indian cricket.

The 41-year-old cricketer said he wants to be involved with the IPL and would discuss his further course of action with the franchises.

"When I retired in January 2007, I thought that's it, I'll sit back and watch the game, but I have had four great years in the IPL," Warne said.

"It's been a privilege and a pleasure to captain the Royals. It has been an honour. Hopefully, I've helped Indian cricket. I think there is a big future for some of the guys, the likes of Chavan, Meneria, they are gonna be benefited.

"You never say never, especially in my life. I would like to stay involved with the IPL somehow, whether it would be with the Royals or not that I have to discuss with the owners. They have been great to me, so I would be happy to help them," he added.

The Royals today provided the perfect send off to their inspirational skipper by beating Mumbai by 10 wickets, thanks to the allround display by Shane Watson and Warne said the opener's innings shows his class.
