Perhaps you are still digesting Nechville’s Heli-Mount – what many consider to be the most innovative redesign the banjo has ever seen. Now Nechville is reaching out to all lovers of the traditional banjo pot design and introducing the next phase of development in the evolution of the banjo: The Flex-tone Banjo!

The central coupling mechanism between a modern Nechville neck and a historic design pot is called the Nechville Flex-tone. Having uncovered the secret of banjo time transport, mad banjo scientist Nechville says, “This is the biggest breakthrough since time began for banjoists! Now you are able to transport yourselves back to 1937, bringing along your favorite adjustable Nechville neck to hook up with your favorite banjo pot of yesteryear.”

The crucial Flex-tone element enables the full-function of a Nechville banjo neck on Pre-War style banjo pots, and virtually all other banjo pots for that matter.

More About Outlaw Snare Drums
The heart of Outlaw stave snare drums is the wood. Old-growth heart pine, reclaimed from tobacco barns, plantation homes, mills or bridges built before 1900, gives the drums a level of quality unmatched by other drum builders.

In their previous lives, this wood stood firm against wind and rain, endured the constant punishment of work boots, falling toys and family pets, and supported the machines that built America. There are stories in this wood; stories that deserve to be preserved.

That’s why we created the Outlaw Weathered Series. Run your fingers across one of these snare drums and you’ll feel the deep grain. You can see the years of use. You can almost hear those stories. This is American wood, reborn.

Not feeling lucky? Check out Outlaw pricing and availability at the GearPipe Shop.

A salute to the rare and highly collectible “Super Tube Screamer” from the 1980s, the Maxon ST-9 Pro+ Super Tube distortion pedal takes the basic design elements of the coveted vintage model and brings them into the 21st century.

Loosely based on Maxon’s classic “808″ circuit, the ST-9 Pro+ distortion pedal offers a dedicated midrange control that varies the amount of midrange boost, creating powerful, fat, and heavy distortion sounds akin to a full-stack amplifier. A mode switch to select from two different diode types allows the user to fine-tune the Maxon ST-9 Pro+ effects pedal for use with single coils or humbuckers, while switchable 9V or 18V operation provides increased dynamic headroom and fuller frequency response.

When you’re ready to step beyond the standard overdrive, the Maxon ST-9 Pro+ Super Tube distortion pedal is the only choice for the discerning overdrive connoisseur.

The Evans G1 series features a single ply of 10mm film blending a bright tone, sustain and sensitivity. The head sets the standard for an open and expressive sound. Tuned low, it produces a cavernous rumble that emphasizes the natural sound of the shell. The coated version delivers additional warmth, focus, and depth.

Evans Power Center snare heads feature a 10mm film. Extra durability and focus is provided by a centrally located 5mm patch on the bottom of the head. Unique slots in the 5″ diameter dot allow it to flex, keeping the head open and resonant. The Level 360 collar ensures that Evans drumheads fit on the drum’s bearing edge with greater ease, resulting in faster, more accurate tuning, with more tonal sustain.

The Emperor is a warm and articulate overdrive, but can do so much more. We keep the controls simple; volume, gain, and a toggle switch to control the boost function. When the toggle switch is in the down position, the overdrive becomes much more aggressive, allowing the mids and highs to cut through the mix. In the up position, the tone rounds out and adds thick low end punch. The Emperor is built by hand in Philadelphia, PA with hand-picked and matched components.

When it was introduced in 1963, the Gibson Firebird was so ahead of its time that few people wanted one, leading to its discontinuation in 1965. Lucky for guitarists everywhere, once rock 'n' roll style caught up to this guitar, the Firebird was brought back.

Now, 50 years later, Gibson is celebrating this once-radical guitar with a 50th Anniversary model. This commemorative axe is pimped out with a Bullion Gold nitrocellulose finish, gold hardware, and a black pickguard hot-stamped in gold with “50th Anniversary 1963-2013” and the traditional Firebird phoenix, and now you have a chance to win one from Premier Guitar.

The first line of the product blurb for the Fairfield Babrbershop Overdrive pedal is "Have you ever sat in a barber’s chair wishing your tone was as slick as your freshly shaved upper lip?" I have to be honest, I have never ever had that thought, and I got my hair cut this morning. However, I see their point. I do enjoy a clear, slick tone. I also enjoy a pedal maker who says "Screw the hand-painted enclosures. Let the tone stand on its own!"

Jokes aside, check out the video below. This pedal, which sells for $175, sounds great! And the good people at Chicago Music Exchange are currently giving away one Fairfield Barbershop Overdrive pedal.
As a drummer, I’ve really been into the content AJ at Drum Gear Review has been pushing out. In addition to running his own site, AJ also provides reviews for DRUM! Magazine.

With this snare drum giveaway, AJ is joining the two forces together.
More about the 12 Lug Superdrum

What makes the 12-lug Superdrum better than other snare drums?

The snare drum is the most important drum in your set. It is the most versatile and capable of producing more effects than the toms or bass drum. It is the drum in which you should invest the most money. That is not to say it has to be expensive.

8-lugs is an industry standard for snare drums. You can get a satisfactory sound from an 8-lug snare. If you want more control over the tuning and wish to get more tension on the head then a high-end 10-lug snare drum would be the drum to buy.

We at Superdrum have taken this a step further by going to 12-lugs, an increase of 50% over the standard! Now it is possible to get even more control for amazing sound. The increase in lugs allows for unsurpassed accuracy and sensitivity with a very wide dynamic range. The 12-lug Superdrum produces excellent clarity at very soft and very loud playing levels.

All this has been accomplished at a fraction of the cost of what drum makers like Pearl have done. This is no need to spend $600, $700 even $1,000 or more to get this level of quality.

If your chops demand a drum that can produce exceptional sensitivity, clarity and dynamic range then the Superdrum is for you.

More about the JHS SuperBolt Overdrive Pedal

The JHS SuperBolt overdrive pedal, at its heart, is a discreet circuit, designed to emulate the tone and character of the 1960’s-era Supro® amps. From its touch-sensitivity to the way the pedal sags with tube rectifier color at higher gain settings, the SuperBolt will give any guitar rig a versatile and useful new set of tones, reminiscent of some of the greatest sounds ever recorded. With 3 simple knob controls named Volume, Tone, and Drive, you will have the ability to make any guitar rig drip with vintage soul and attitude that no pedal has ever delivered- until now.

In the footsteps of our long-ago discontinued Mr. Magic pedal, we bring you the “final act” in boost magic…The Prestige! From buffer, to boost, to tone enhancer, the Prestige will prove to be a vital and necessary piece of gear for anyone’s rig. With the boost knob set to zero, you have in your hands an amazing buffer/enhancer for long cable runs as well as a tool that will simply add some life back into your rig. When the Boost knob is in the first 25% you will get different flavors of the buffer/enhancer as well as slight volume increases. When the Boost knob is set between 25% and 50% you have a powerful, dynamic solo boost that adds definition, clarity and a little magic to your solos and lead passages. When set at 50% or more, the Prestige gives you the ability to break up your tube amp in a smooth and natural way resulting in real tube overdrive from the preamp section of your tube amp. The last 25% of the volume range can completely destroy your amp in the best way possible, resulting in rich soaring sustain, breakup, and on some amps even a smooth warm fuzzy growl.

This super small 1.5″x3.5″ booster can do what needs to be done no matter what the task. If you need a little magic in your life, look no further!

The RAT KING is the suped-up version of our RAT TAIL. The idea behind this monster is to save some board space by kicking a couple of other pedals off of your board! This is three pedals in one: a RAT TAIL, a second RAT TAIL (through the 2nd distortion setting), and a momentary feedback loop. The middle footswitch lets you jump between 2 distortion settings (ex. – low gain/high gain) and it has an LED indicator so you know the 2nd setting is active. The momentary feedback loop is adjustable (we can make this latching for you noise junkies out there). The diode knob (Di) blends between LEDs and silicon diodes AND you can use the toggle to bypass the diodes (great for bassists or for a more ‘open’ sound). The double resistor mod found on our RAT TAIL is also included to allow you to fine tune your sound and control how the ciruit clips by clipping more on just the highs, just the lows, or anything in between.

The light bulb. Television and radio. The microwave oven. Gibson’s SG Standard – all inspirations of genius that transformed the way we live. Gibson’s redesign of the Les Paul in 1960 was a bold move. But it paid off big time. It announced a new, radical electric guitar design for Gibson, and the world. It also inspired a rebellious generation of ideas and music rarely experienced before, and certainly not since. Today, that same radical design – and restless spirit – lives on in Gibson’s celebrated SG line. The Gibson SG ’61 Reissue pays tribute to this revolutionary guitar. It’s all there, in all its original glory. Transform your playing. Revolutionize your life. Buy the Gibson SG ’61 Reissue today and experience your own uprising firsthand.

And this is no ordinary guitar giveaway. The winner will score a custom made Daddy Mojo cigar box guitar with the Playboy Magazine May 1964 cover on the top. I’m talking boobies here, gentlemen (and ladies who are into that sort of thing)!

note: although this is a Twitter contest, if you check out the contest rules, there is also an option to enter via email.

Call me Nostradamus, but I think this is going to be one of the most popular giveaways in the history of GearPipe!

If you're familiar with the Santa Cruz Guitar Company, you know they build some of the most beautiful acoustic guitars on earth. For this guitar giveaway, Santa Cruz has teamed up with The Fretboard Journal to give away one of their guitars. Here's how it works: The winner will choose any standard model in their line (which includes a ton of acoustic guitars and basses!), worth up to $5,500 MSRP. Then SCGC’s acoustic expert and award-winning founding luthier, Richard Hoover, will give them a one-on-one consultation to customize that bad boy, with up to $1,200 in customizations. The winner will end up with a guitar worth nearly $7,000. Get on this one, people!

More About the Airline ’59 Custom 2P Electric Guitar
The Airline ’59 Custom 2P is based on the style of the early 60s Airline made by Valco and sold through Montgomery Ward. The original Airline’s were made of Res-O-Glas and had a floating bridge. Eastwood has upgraded the design to a tone-chambered mahogany body with a tune-o-matic bridge with a custom chrome tail. The Airline 2P features a unique rubber binding which surrounds the entire body, and replicates the esthetics of the original Airline Res-O-Glas guitars. Additional cosmetic details include a striped pickguard, aluminum tone switch plate and available NOS Valco™ knobs. It is fitted with a pair of high output Airline Vintage Voiced Single Coil pickups hidden in a Humbucker case. This guitar comes with a Vintage Style Deluxe form-fit AIRLINE hardshell case with steel plate logo.

The Logan Square Destroyer, a perfect blend of raw 60′s type fuzz and heavy modern doom. This is a very versatile pedal, the gain and level knobs interact to allow many different tonal options. Rolling back the gain opens up the fuzz, this is where you can find some retro garage type sounds. Cranking it up will lead you to thick and destructive high gain fuzz. Great for lower tunings, creamy sustain driven leads, or searing riffage. Big, Loud, Fuzzy. The LSD covers a lot of sonic ground while keeping things simple. Open wide, enjoy the ride. Hand wired, true bypass, 9V DC jack.

The Crimson Drive is a cutting and dynamic overdrive designed around a single germanium transistor and vintage germanium diodes. It creates a very open tone with excellent harmonics and a pleasing raw grit that can’t be duplicated with more common FET or opamp based overdrives. With a simple twist of the gain control, the Crimson Drive can go from a gritty Rangemaster style treble boost to a rattling overdriven sound that is reminiscent a vintage plexi style amp at full bore. Works great with single coils as well as humbuckers and has excellent clean up with your guitars volume control.

More About the Valvetrain Trenton 2X10V Tube Amp

Designed in the tradition of the masters, the Trenton features a pair of 12AX7 dual-triode preamp tubes driving the signal through a matched pair of cathode biased 6V6 power tubes. The hand-wired all tube circuit is fired by a 5AR4 Tube Rectifier. The amp controls are Volume, Treble, Middle and Bass along with a Raw switch and dual power settings.

The Trenton 2×10 Vintage is loaded with a pair of custom 10” AlNiCo speakers designed by Weber Speakers specifically for ValveTrain. These speakers feature true vintage style voicing with modern components to increase the power handling capacity and tonal response. The bright red baskets make them the coolest looking speakers on the planet.

To address the needs of today’s guitarist, the Trenton boasts 4 distinct switchable voices through its hand-wired all tube circuit. The High/Low Power switchable output stage delivers a smoking 16 watts of dual 6V6 power or an apartment friendly 6 watts. The RAW switch disables the tone controls and takes you from the early 60’s voicing back to into the late 50’s.

Built with top shelf components, the Trenton is the real deal.
