Photographers are hard to buy for because all of their equipment is typically so expensive. But if that special photog in your life happens to be a devout Canon user, or not even, just because this thing is so damn cool, here is the perfect gift.

Even though your identity and location remain anonymous when using the actual Chatroulette service, the CR site actually employs the use of IPs to assist in connecting random individuals. Using the power of IP location technology and mashing it all up with Google Maps, Chatroulette Map grabs a screenshot of the user and pastes their mug on the map based on their location.

While this mash-up might remove some of the fun of the anonymity provided by the Chatroulette service, it’s truly an intriguing look into the demographics of the Chatroulette user base, and a fun way to scope out random people without having to reveal any part of yourself. Maybe I’ll finally be able to find out where that guy humping that poor stuffed raccoon is from.

While Hollywood chugs away at making a movie for every board game and sub-8-bit video game that ever existed (I’ve even heard titters of movies based on Pong and Monopoly), there are so many film opportunities out there that would actually make sense… or at least cause an extreme amount of LOLz. Take The Legend of Zelda for instance. That’s just prime film real estate waiting to be scooped up.

Will there be a Zelda film one day? Or maybe even a big screen adaptation of classic sci-fi such as Ender’s Game? That’s for the powers that be to decide. But come on, we’re begging you!

In all honesty though you apparently can pick up silicon carbide crystals easily enough from eBay. And if you’re really in a pinch you can even use sandpaper, which is made out of a similar material but will likely only give off a faint glow. You won’t be making your own LED prom dress using only sandpaper or a little carbide of silicon.

Superman has his super-strength. Batman has his gadgets (and his finger). Spiderman has his radioactive spidey senses. But none can match the unadulterated power of this girl who recently appeared on German TV. Not only did she get to sit in Captain Kirk’s chair (for reasons that alludes me), but she can pretty accurately identify Star Wars LEGO minifigs using only her mouth, with maybe a little help from the Force.

There’s got to be a trick to this. Such great power isn’t possible! How does one even come to adopt this as a hobby? I would have given her one of these Star Wars LEGO action shots, just to fuck with her.

One iPhone is fine and dandy for keeping myself in order and offering a great way to procrastinate, but I can’t help but hunger for more – the next big update. Do you remember how excited I was about MMS finally coming to the device? Right now it happens to be OS 4.0. After the release of 4.0 it will undoubtedly be OS 4.5 (though I have high hopes for 4.0 transforming the iPhone into the perfect device).

These iPhone App Magnets will hopefully hold my insatiable iPhone hunger at bay until the next major release. Even if my fridge happens to be an off-white-ish color rather than the preferred black, I think I can still make it work. Now if it doesn’t, I just hope the local Apple store makes sure they’re on lockdown during the next full-moon.

A recent study at Stanford University showed that up to 44% of students admit to a full-on or partial addiction to their iPhones. The rest are apparently terrible liars.

When asked to rank their dependence on the iPhone on a scale of one to five – five being addicted and one being not at all addicted – 10 percent of the students acknowledged full addiction to the device, 34 percent ranked themselves as a four on the scale, and only 6 percent said they weren’t addicted at all… Nearly 85 percent of the iPhone owners used the phone as their watch, and 89 percent used it as their alarm clock. In fact, 75 percent admitted to falling asleep with the iPhone in bed with them, and 69 percent said they were more likely to forget their wallet than their iPhone when leaving in the morning.

Jeesh, if those are the qualifications for iPhone addiction, sounds like I could use an intervention. And not of the bovine variety.
