One iPhone is fine and dandy for keeping myself in order and offering a great way to procrastinate, but I can’t help but hunger for more – the next big update. Do you remember how excited I was about MMS finally coming to the device? Right now it happens to be OS 4.0. After the release of 4.0 it will undoubtedly be OS 4.5 (though I have high hopes for 4.0 transforming the iPhone into the perfect device).

These iPhone App Magnets will hopefully hold my insatiable iPhone hunger at bay until the next major release. Even if my fridge happens to be an off-white-ish color rather than the preferred black, I think I can still make it work. Now if it doesn’t, I just hope the local Apple store makes sure they’re on lockdown during the next full-moon.

A recent study at Stanford University showed that up to 44% of students admit to a full-on or partial addiction to their iPhones. The rest are apparently terrible liars.

When asked to rank their dependence on the iPhone on a scale of one to five – five being addicted and one being not at all addicted – 10 percent of the students acknowledged full addiction to the device, 34 percent ranked themselves as a four on the scale, and only 6 percent said they weren’t addicted at all… Nearly 85 percent of the iPhone owners used the phone as their watch, and 89 percent used it as their alarm clock. In fact, 75 percent admitted to falling asleep with the iPhone in bed with them, and 69 percent said they were more likely to forget their wallet than their iPhone when leaving in the morning.

Jeesh, if those are the qualifications for iPhone addiction, sounds like I could use an intervention. And not of the bovine variety.

Spotted using Google Street View, apparently after saving the princess Mario and Luigi retired from the plumbing biz, sick and tired of crawling through pipes no doubt, and decided to open their own restaurants. Mario’s is a bakery and Luigi’s serves pizza, kebobs and burgers. So if you think about it, they aren’t even really competing. They’re pretty complimentary of each other. I guess having wardrobe security helps you have the confidence for a major career change.

And yes, Mario’s sign is totally red and Luigi’s is green and slightly taller. If I didn’t see it with my own eyes I wouldn’t believe this spot in Manchester, UK existed. And to think they had to muscle their way into the restaurant business. I shudder to think of the number of taxi drivers injured in the process.

There’s a designer in everybody, just trying to get out. One of the first lessons and designer studying their craft will learn is the very basics of color theory (colors can even alter human emotion and physiology, as we’ve seen). The RGB diagram has become an iconic staple of the design world and for good reason, it’s simplistic beauty is unbeatable.

Not remotely the first time I’ve fallen asleep with a Game Boy near my head, this Game Boy Cushion brings back countless memories from my childhood, sneaking my Game Boy under my blankets and playing into the early morning hours, or until I just couldn’t stay awake anymore. This LEGO Vignette proves that you don’t need much more than a few LEGO bricks and pieces for prove your artistic worth. LEGO master Peter Aoun created this masterfully minimilist LEGO scene which pays homage to Disney/Pixar’s most recent release, “Up,” proving once and for all that Pixar is more than a company offering a wide assortment of epic beards. While we’ve already seen the main character decked out in LEGO dubs, it’s interesting to see what other artists can do with the same theme, and Aoun doesn’t disappoint.

I absolutely love the LEGO “balloons” and the creative use of circular pieces to create clouds. Now if I can just make time to watch the damn movie.

Somebody’s finally up and done it. The YaHookah is a computer (or at least what used to be described as a computer) you can literally smoke, smoke until you’re damn near dead. And the creator didn’t stop there. He was generous enough to write up a step-by-step DIY project over at Instructables, so you can be smoking from the comfort of your own computer in as little as a few hours.

I’m not sure what the difference is between a hookah and a bong, but something tells me the differences are few and far between. One just happens to be filled with legal smoking material, while the other? Well, it’s not legal yet… “technically.” But this whole medical marijuana debate is quickly making the days of hiding your joints a thing of the past.

If you’re neurotic like me and always have to peek around a corner to make sure someone else isn’t barreling their way in your direction, then a system like the Corner’s Communication Warning Sign is a welcome addition to city streets. Designed by Sanghoon Lee, the Warning System uses sound sensors to determine when someone is approaching the corner and manages the corner’s traffic using a system similar to street lights. Red means stop. No light means it’s safe to continue around the corner without smacking right into a fellow pedestrian and their ridiculously enormous umbrella.

Slamming into someone rushing around a corner might not be the worst of things you have to face in your lifetime, but it sure as hell wouldn’t hurt to have less close encounters with perfect strangers who happen to be wearing trench coats… and nothing else. *shudder* I still have nightmares.
