Based on Michelangelo’s famed sculpture, La Pietá (which you can see after the jump), designer Kordian Lewandowski used a block of polystyrene foam to complete his very own work of art – the Nintendo-inspired Game Over sculpture.

Measuring slightly taller than an averaged sized man (seems to be about six-feet tall), Game Over mixes the drama of Renaissance art with the caricatured elements of gaming design. Sometimes I wish I had artistic talent, and then I remember how much I love both of my ears. I really hope this thing can withstand the elements, because it’s going right next to my T-Rex Statue.

Even fictional plumber’s have nightmares. And if Mario does in fact dream, this is 1-Down Mushroom is surely the culprit that keeps him up at night. While he’s never actually seen one in the wild (or so he tells the cops), in fact their actual existence is questionable, his mother used to tell him that if he didn’t go to sleep on time, the 1-Down Mushroom would get him. Those sort of scars never heal.

If tubes, wires and air data isn’t enough to wrap your fleshy human mass around, Researchers at Korea University in Seoul have successfully accomplished something that might change the world, but probably won’t. They’ve successfully transmitted broadband data through a human arm at speeds up to 10 mb/s. The data is transferred using two electrodes placed on their skin 30 centimetres apart, so there’s no need for any funky implants. Just pure human data transfer. Jacking into the matrix seems one step closer to reality.

I’m not sure how comfy I’d be hiring a human internet hub. Sure, it’s better for the environment, using less energy than a wireless connection, but this all seems too icky for my taste. How long until we’re breeding humans on farms for stuff like this? I have to admit, it is nice to know that humans are good for more than just their nutritional value and tastiness. Wait… what?

The world of a blind geek must be a difficult one. Many of the luxuries we take for granted (watching Star Wars, reading fanfiction, witnessing Steve Jobs unveil the newest device in the Apple arsenal) just aren’t possible for the blind to the extent that the fully-functional among us have become accustomed to. Imagine Star Wars without being able to actually see Chewbacca. The roars are still awesome, but it’s his nuanced facial expressions and movements which make the Wookiee.

Designer Konstantin Datz has devised away for even the geekiest of the blind to enjoy Rubik’s Cube. Colors are replaced by Braille symbols. In fact, I’m sort of jealous. The stark white shade is actually pretty cool looking.

Yoshi is so considerate. Look at him lovingly using his tongue to wrap around your neck (who knows where that neck has been!) This crocheted Yoshi scarf is lovingly honed by Etsy user ShadowsInTheNyte.

Usually used to suck down apples (and in the new game, even your fellow teammates), Yoshi’s most valuable appendage comes in handy on even the most chilly of days. The weather is getting warmer now, so we might not have to bust this out until next season, but wow, this thing is awesome. Sadly, supplies seem to be sold out at the present, but hopefully they’ll be some more on the way.

After nearly four years of solid effort, nearly all of which is documented on his site, Ben Heck has finished his Bill Paxton Pinball machine. Based on the “endlessly quotable films of Bill Paxton,” the pinball machine was manufactured completely and utterly from scratch by the Heck-man himself, aside from a few stock items, such as the flippers.

It is controlled by a single Parallax Propeller CPU which runs PCM audio music & voice clips as well as handling game logic, I/O and driving the custom LED display. I did the mechanical design, layout, construction & programming all myself, except for the sound player libraries that I got off the Parallax Object exchange website.

An ode to Bill Paxton’s life and career was long overdue. With such classics as Twister under his belt, it’s only a matter of time before Paxton is included on a U.S. Postage Stamp, the ultimate in immortalization.

While I’ve heard mixed reviews of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland (as is typical with Burton films), there’s no denying the charm of these Alice in Wonderland-inspired mini LEGO sculptures. Including the Mad Hatter (played by a very Madonna-esque Johnny Depp in Burton’s outing) and Alice herself.

I believe designer Tommy Williamson was going for a relatively minimalist theme, using as few bricks as possible, though I really don’t see what could have been added that wouldn’t have made the models look overdone. I think he used just as many bricks as were needed. Now I need me a Cheshire Cat sculpture.

The second I saw this head I couldn’t help but be reminded of Hannibal Lector and his preference for dining on human flesh. This is almost too realistic to eat, unlike the orange-yellow Cheddar color of the Lincoln Cheese bust. Something tells me I’d get that weird, uncanny feeling when it came time to dig in to the Steve Jobs Cheese Head. But hey, it’s Apple-themed, which means I have a magnetic attraction that cannot be broken by simple disgust.

Lovingly made with softened mozzarella, the Steve Jobs Cheese Head is geared towards being the party centerpiece. Now I have to decide if this is just a touch too creepy for my iPad release party. We’ve already posted about several shower curtains which would fit in with a horror theme, some more subtle then others (we’re looking at you Robert Pattinson curtain!), and we were thinking, there’s gotta be more accessories we can add to our bathroom to really make it a bloody, terrifying mess. And wouldn’t you know it? We were right.

The Bloody Shower Mat is not the only surefire way to ruin a first date or any real walkthrough of your home, but it sure doesn’t hurt your chances at failure. Did your blind date show up with a peg leg and none of her original teeth intact? Send a quick text to your roommate to whip out the bloody house warming materials. Make them think it’s their decision to avoid you. And if it doesn’t make your date start eyeing the door with increased attention, then you’ve either got a real winner or a real friggen nut bag.
