Custom Maps: European Countries

A lot of European customers have been asking for detailed maps for their region so here it is. Not only has Europe been added to the list of supported maps (joining World and USA) but you can also zoom in on individual countries. Here's a shot showing a European and UK map.

We'll be rolling out to other regions in the coming weeks so let us know what you would like to see.

Right now it's only available in custom map widgets but we're going to enable it for Chartbeat and GoSquared map widgets soon also.

Extra: Resizable Widgets

The ability to resize widgets is here at last and we're looking for testers. We'll be announcing availability in tranches on Geckoboard's Facebook page so head over there and Like us to get the first glimpse and early access!

Use our RSS feed or our Twitter or Facebook profiles to keep up-to-date with news and future updates.

Mission Critical Metrics. How Boxcar.io Use Geckoboard

Push it!

Headquartered in New York, NY, Boxcar has sent over 700 million notifications to iPhones and Macs around the world. Want to know the moment someone mentions you on Twitter or a friend checks in on Foursquare? Boxcar handles it all. With integrations to tons of services it allows you to read notifications where and when you want them.

Mission Critical Metrics
Needless to say, when you're growing fast tracking and communicating operational metrics is vitally important - this is where Geckoboard comes in.

"Being able to insightfully see where we're at for the day compared to the previous day or week is ultra important", says Jonathan George, CEO and founder.

"Geckoboard enables us to keep an eye on mission-critical metrics, as well as providing an early warning system for both positive and negative events."

Specifically they use Geckoboard to give a real-time breakdown of the overall state and health of Boxcar on a real-time basis including core operational metrics such as:

New user signups

New services

Number of pushes

They're currently accessing Geckoboard from their laptops, iPhones and iPad and will soon have a big screen in the office dedicated to running Geckoboard to give everyone in the office access to their real-time operational stats.

New Pingdom Trends Widget

We've just pushed out an update to the Pingdom widget which allows you to display trending data, for both uptime and response time.

Here's a screen shot of it in action:

The widget uses the Pingdom API to pull in historical data. You can set a time period of either 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days. The data displayed is configurable so you can show just the uptime, just the response time or both.

To add the new widget just add a new Pingdom widget and then select the "Trends" dropdown (the status widget is now available as "Current status"):

This widget allows you to quickly see a sites trending performance over a time period.

Rob is joining us as co-founder and CTO and will instrumental in the continuing success of Geckoboard. He's already getting stuck in working on new features and enhancements and you can expect a lot more in the coming weeks and months.

Updates: Chartbeat & GoSquared Maps, Private RSS Feeds, Custom Maps Styling

We've been a little quiet on the product announcements recently. That's mainly because we're working on some big enhancements that are coming soon, but in the meantime, in addition to a ton of bug fixes and minor enhancements here are some changes that we think you're going to love.
Map Styling
Since we released the custom maps widget in June we've been bombarded with requests for enhancements. Top of the list was the ability to change the size and colour of map points. Well now you can!

Updated documentation can be found here but, in short, you can either add the size (1=tiny 10=large) and colour attributes next to the coordinates of each point or, for greater control over appearance, simply add a CSS class to each map point and upload a CSS file with the required attributes for that class to define the point's colour and opacity and it's stoke attributes.

Look out for country and region map zooming in the next couple of weeks.
Chartbeat & GoSquared Maps
If you're using real-time web analytics services chartbeat or GoSquared you can now see the location of your most recent visitors on a beautiful Geckoboard map. WARNING: Watching this update can get very addictive, but if you're a real-time map junkie like me then you're going to love it!
Private RSS & Atom Feeds
In addition to regular, public RSS and Atom feeds that you've been able to display on your dashboard for some time, from today you can also display private feeds that require a username and password. This is great news for customers of tons of services out there that offer protected feeds and getting them on to your board is a snap. You can find the RSS and Atom widget under the "Notifications" category.

That's all for now but we're looking forward to hearing what you think in the comments below.

You can use our RSS feed or our Twitter or Facebook profiles to keep up-to-date with news and future updates.

Update: New widget placement

Today we released an update to our widget placement that's a big improvement on what was there before.

Our widgets now work on a more free form system which means you can position widgets wherever you want on a grid. All new widgets will appear in the top left hand corner of your dashboard and from there can be dragged and dropped to fit wherever you want.

You can choose how far apart widgets are, arrange them in any order and position them wherever you want. Have one widget in the middle of a blank dashboard, place them in a giant X across the dashboard, arrange them in columns or do whatever you want. Also, moving widgets does not knock any of the existing widgets out of place meaning widgets stay put unless you move them.

To enable this you will have to log in to your admin dashboard and refresh your screen, the new widget placement should then be working. At the moment you'll have to do this for all your dashboards including new dashboards but we'll be updating that soon to make it easier.

Let us know what you think and don't forget you can use our RSS feed or our Twitter or Facebook profiles to keep up-to-date with news and future updates.

Power Feature: Google Analytics Filters

A few weeks ago one of our customers asked for the ability to filter data returned from Google Analytics, they wanted to see pageviews for specific URLs on their Geckoboard status board. Yesterday we quietly rolled out that feature to all customers and I wanted to show you how you can use it to filter both dimensions and metrics from Google Analytics.

You can find lots of in-depth information on how to write Google Analytics filters on Google's documentation page but for now I want to run through a couple of practical examples.

To start, let's create a new Google Analytics widget: New widget >> Web Analytics >> Google Analytics. You'll notice a new (optional) field called "Filters" on the widget configuration screen. Entering filter parameters in here allows you to filter by almost anything including multiple dimension and metric filters together.

Let's start by adding a filter to show only pageviews by Firefox users from the United States. Use the following settings in the widget configuration

Metric Category: Visitors

Metric: Pageviews

Filters: ga:country==United States;ga:browser==Firefox

Breaking that down, we're using ga:country to restrict pageviews that came from the country "United States". We used the operator == here which ensures it's an exact match, but there are other operators we can use including =~ which matches based on a regular expression. An example of this might be to add a filter to restrict pageview numbers where the URL matched a regular expression.

If you want to restrict the pageview metric to only URL matching ^foo (i.e. your URL starts with foo), add the following filter

ga:pagePath=~^foo

To match ^foo OR bar$ (url starts with foo OR ends with bar) you need to use a comma to separate terms:

ga:pagePath=~^foo,ga:pagePath=~bar$

To match ^foo AND bar$ (url starts with foo AND ends with bar) you use a semicolon to separate terms:

ga:pagePath=~^foo;ga:pagePath=~bar$

This doesn't scratch the surface of what's possible with Google Analytics filters but a look at the documentation and some experimentation should get open up a ton of possibilities.

Don’t forget, use our RSS feed or our Twitter or Facebook profiles to keep up-to-date with news and future updates.

Introducing the Custom Map Widget

This is something I've been looking forward to announcing for some time now. Welcome the latest addition to our custom widget types -- the custom map widget!

Many of you have been asking for a way to visualise anything with a geographic element including the location of current site visitors or dispatch addresses for recent orders on your dashboard, and now you can.

If you're feeling creative you can knock out a script to connect to the increasing number of location aware web services with APIs and see location data side-by-side with your key business metrics on your Geckoboard status board.

We're starting with a custom widget only but many existing integrations will have a map widget added soon, stay tuned for further updates.

Check out a live map widget here.

Version 1 of the map widget accepts:

Lat, long coordinates

IP addresses

Host names

It renders the location of each point on a beautiful map which updates frequently. We even have some new widget sizes for these maps so you can really show it off.

Mini Updates

Things have been busy here at Geckoboard and we’ve been adding lots of integrations and updates over the last few months. We haven’t had much of a chance to rave about these so we thought it would be a good idea to fill you all in on what we’ve been up to. All these updates are thanks to users telling us exactly what they want from Geckoboard and how we can make it better.

Little things make a big difference, that's why we've made lots of little changes so Geckoboard is a lot easier to use:

Copy any widget from one dashboard to another, super quick and easy. No need to recreate a widget from scratch.

Enable or disable sharing URLs. Complete control over who sees your dashboard and when.

Reverse colour options for our Geck-o-meter, funnel chart and Number and Secondary Stat widget. Sometimes high numbers are bad and low numbers are good.

A new 'banner' size for the text widget. Have your text on one long stream across the width of the dashboard, a lot less intrusive.

A dashboard timezone to see accurate 'Today' figures for wherever you want in the world.

Bullet graphs which offer a brilliant view of your data.

Show total inbox in your email widget, not just unread.

Over the last few months we’ve been bringing in lots of updates to already existing widgets and some great new integrations. Geckoboard users have been very vocal about what they want and that's brilliant as it lets us know what we should be getting out for you.

Thanks to these suggestions we've been able to get out:

Salesforce integration. Salesforce provides web-based customer relationship management (CRM) software. Our widget shows you:

Opportunities won

Top Sales Rep

Win/Loss Ration on Opportunities

Value of Closed Won Opportunities

GoSquared integration. Another great real-time analytics tracker that you can view from your dashboard.

Highcharts integration. An extremely flexible and powerful addition to our custom charts which gives much more choice for viewing your data.

Zendesk widget now shows 'Oldest tickets' and 'Top Ticket Solvers' to give you a better idea of how your support is getting on.

Basecamp shows who the milestone/to-do is assigned to rather than who created it.

In this series of blog posts we'll be profiling the businesses of Geckoboard customers - what their business is, how they use Geckoboard, and how it helps them. Interested in being profiled? Email us at help@geckoboard.com

Today we'll be profiling Jason VandeBoom from ActiveCampaign

Here's a little about ActiveCampaign in Jason's words:

"ActiveCampaign is a web based software company focused on improving email marketing. We help over 50,000 users succeed within their respective industries. We seek to improve all aspects of email marketing including email design, list management, email delivery, and learning more about your subscribers with in-depth reporting."

Here's what Jason had to say about how ActiveCampaign use Geckoboard:

"Metrics are very popular within our company. Once we started to use Geckoboard we began transitioning some of our existing reports into our Geckoboard account. Geckoboard has allowed us to create good looking wallboards in a manner that is much more efficient than our internal based systems we used to use.

With Geckoboard we provide real time status updates of our critical services, show recent activity & trends, gauge our overall customer satisfaction, display our support queue visually, show recent development updates, etc.. All widgets are setup to provide greater transparency within our company along with encouraging a team based goal of improving our service and product."

Jason says that Geckoboard has helped the team work together and share more information:

"Several panels of our wallboard are dedicated to providing information about our support queue and support ratings. By displaying this information in a central location everyone can work to improve their own work and our overall goals. Upon implementing Geckoboard it assisted us with working collectively to ensure top support ratings and has helped improve our overall support ratings.

In addition to directly trying to improve our service we also use Geckoboard to share interesting information. Such as recent orders, email volumes, etc.. This helps share information that we normally wouldn't be posting every day and keeps everyone more engaged in what our company does."

Find out more about Active Campaign at http://www.activecampaign.com/.

In the true spirit of Little Bets I tried an experiment this month. I like to make little bets – they’re fun and they sometimes pay big dividends. I also like the Getting Things Done (GTD) model for personal productivity; it’s the reason I’ve been at inbox zero for a number of years now. GTD pays big dividends as well.

The Jello Dashboard is about the closest application I’ve found where GTD principles and dashboards appear in the same breath. But Jello (I wonder how they get away with that, trademark issues and such) is more focused on everything that traverses your inbox. In my view, this is an incomplete reality of stuff you need to get done.

Toodledo + Geckoboard

For this little bet, I wired up a custom Geckoboard widget to my Toodledo account. The widget is simple – it fans through a display of all of my high priority tasks and also uses color to call out specific task details and levels of importance. It even integrates Toodledo’s context feature which helps to identify where the planned task will be best performed.

Context

Within the first few days of using iPad [one], I discovered context is a key issue in getting things done. Context is simply the idea that certain tasks can be best performed in a locale such as your office, on a plane, or at home. My [non-scientific] study concerning the use of iPad for business purposes led to some clear distinctions about work context and when it is best to use iPhone, iPad, laptop, and desktop.

Because this study showed clear improvements in my own productivity with iPad, I decided to embracecontext in my little GTD dashboard bet. I crafted a series of dashboards to experiment with. When viewing my dashboard on iPad, the tasks displayed are filtered for things I can accomplish while away from the office. As I mentioned above, context is a feature in Toodledo, but you can likely create this filtering ability in other GTD applications. In fact, this article is a good example. I tend to write best on iPad when I have a little time away from the desk.

I think context plays a key role in GDT and utilizing it in my dashboard experiment seems to provide some useful benefits. Of course, with Geckoboard, you can easily switch dashboards to see the other contexts regardless of your current context.

GeckoMe

For personal productivity guidance, I like the idea of an always-on, always-reminding helper. Having a personal dashboard in my office seemed like a good idea and this sentiment goes way back to the 90’s. Remember PointCast? I loved PointCast because it was the first instance of a news feed that was totally designed for me. I’m probably a bit narcissistic; after all, I’m not only the nicest person I know, but everything should [ideally] be about me. ;-)

As my experiment marrying GTD principles with Geckoboard data expanded, I started to formulate an overall personal productivity dashboard model that I call GeckoMe. The idea was simple – attempt to embody only the most crucial data to help me skate effortless through each day. I can’t say that I’m skating effortlessly [yet] as a result of my GTD dashboard, but I do feel like I’m ahead of my clients and customers. I’m certainly not forgetting to get stuff done. Often times, it’s better to contact a client (or boss) before they ask you about the status of a project. I may still be missing deadlines, but my clients know it before I’ve missed – this is important.

GeckoMe has indeed helped and over the weeks I’ve used this approach to greater awareness, I’ve added a number of additional widgets to compliment my Toodledo integration. GTD-related widgets have served me well and include the following:

Zendesk

RSS feeds of industry trends

Mailchimp

Gmail

Google Calendar

Clock

Basecamp

GeckoMe is starting to take shape as an integral aspect of my work model. I don’t know if the types of widgets and data I’ve integrated are GTD-approved, but I’m certainly getting the sense of complete awareness of all the important things that are in my universe of things to focus on. This is the basic starting point for new GTD adopters; capture everything, then filter like a madman.

Subliminal Reminder

The widget I created for Toodledo integration with Geckoboard uses the standard text component. One of the features of this component is it’s ability to naturally fan through the items in the widget. This provides a graceful fade-out-fade-in between items. Perhaps this is a distraction to GTD purists, but I’ve noticed myself occasionally glimpsing the monitor to see what just transitioned. This seems to be setting subliminal queues that may cause me to do a task sooner rather than later. It’s almost as if the transitions are acting as the pulse of my GTD auto-pilot. Just sayin’ …

Persistent Dashboard

I had an old Dell laptop sitting around the office and a 23” monitor; it’s sister monitor failed a few months ago and I decided to upgrade to 27” Samsungs from Sam’s Club. So I decided to expand the bet by mounting the orphaned flat panel to the wall adjacent to my desk, just outside my peripheral vision, but easily seen and reviewed from time-to-time. I set up the Geckoboard dashboard usingGoogle Chrome and made sure auto-updates and screen savers were off.

While bringing the office dashboard online I noticed a very cool feature in Chrome that allows you to shape your dashboard displays for optimal viewing. Did you know that Chrome has a zoom and full-screen feature? If ever asked, I would have guessed it did have these features, but I never had a reason to experiment with them until now.

Click the Tools icon and you’ll see the option to zoom and toggle to full screen. This makes it possible to set the zoom level for viewing your dashboard. You might want to squeeze more content into the monitor or expand the size for distant viewing.

So, what if we looked at Geckoboard as a solution to providing a set of well-lit guardrails for personal productivity?

I have no idea if GTD experts would applaud this innovation, or dismiss it as yet another geeky distraction or bastardization of the GTD philosophy. But, I did it anyway, and I like it. I’ve only used it for a few months, and I wonder [now] how I might work without it, a test I’m fearful of actually taking.

And for those of you who have an iPad (or any tablet for that matter), this is an ideal second screen when you’re at your deak. Plug it in, prop it up, and launch a browser to your Geckoboard dashboard to experience this idea.

GeckoME Everywhere

If you’re a GeckoGeek, you already know that my dashboard is always accessible from my iPhone, iPad, and even web-enabled enabled televisions in my house. As you might expect, iPad displays Geckoboard dashboards exceptionally well. Geckoboard plus ipad is an ideal platform for reviewing tasks, commitments, and data related to you, the only person who is [seemingly] getting things done.

Geckoboard Customer Profile: Elliott of KickCode LTD

In our new series, we'll be profiling the businesses of Geckoboard customers - what their business is, how they use Geckoboard, and how it helps them. Interested in being profiled? Email us at help@geckoboard.com

Today we'll be profiling Elliott Draper of KickCode LTD.

Here's a little about KickCode LTD in Elliott's words:

“KickCode Ltd is a company that I founded in August 2010, providing web and mobile development services to clients. I've been programming professionally now for almost 8 years, and I've been working for myself for over 2 years (initially as a sole trader). Last year I decided to formalise things and start a company so that I could grow what I was doing over the coming years.”

Here's what Elliott had to say about how he uses Geckoboard and other apps to keep his business organised and productive:

“I bill for my time by the hour, and so it's critical for me to keep on top of my hours, on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. These stats, along with some vanity stats for Twitter/Facebook, and some basic up/down ping checks on my most important websites, are what feature front and centre on my Geckoboard. Geckoboard provides me with an at-a-glance view of the most important data for my day-to-day running of my business, and that's what makes it indispensable.

A little about which apps I use to run my business: One of the most important apps I use is FreeAgent, which helps me with many facets of running my business, but the most important features are invoicing, and finances/tax calculations. I've got my own web app, Watchy which I build with a design partner of mine, Capra, that interfaces with FreeAgent and adds a layer of more detailed analytics and statistics that as I mentioned above, are the lifeblood of my business. Watchy includes Geckoboard widgets for the most important stats, which is how I'm able to keep on top of all these things right from the comfort of my dashboard!

Besides that, in terms of coding, I use MacVim as my text editor, and the majority of my work right now is web development work using Ruby on Rails. With a terminal, MacVim, and a web browser (currently I mainly use Google Chrome), I'm all set!

Being a Ruby developer, I've written a gem to expose data from my Ruby on Rails apps to my Geckoboard dashboard, called Chameleon (https://github.com/ejdraper/chameleon). This lets me easily drop in widgets to keep track of stats for each new web app I launch (for example the number of signups per day).”

Find out more about Elliott and KickCode LTD at kickcode.com.

Using Twitter for Your Small Business

Twitter can be an invaluable tool for marketing your product, customer service, and building relationships with customers. Or it can be a complete waste of time. It all depends on how you use it and how much time you put into it. Luckily, with a bit of prep work, you don't need to put in a ridiculous amount of time to reap the benefits of Twitter. Here are a few ways you can make your Twitter feed more engaging, while connecting with more people, in the most efficient way possible.

Monitor Your Brand's @mentions, DM's, and Hashtags

Using a tool like Tweetdeck or Hootsuite, you can easily create columns for @mentions, DM's, and a hashtag for your business, for example #geckoboard.

Scan through these periodically throughout the day and respond. Instead of digging for what people are saying about you, you have it all right there in front of you. There's no excuse NOT to engage and respond.

Monitor SEO Keywords

Now that you're monitoring your brand mentions, you can take it a step further. Make a list of you're top 3-5 SEO keywords. Maybe it's small business, web apps, and business communication. Using Tweetdeck or Hootsuite again, create columns for hashtags for these terms.

While you don't have to check these as frequently as your brand mentions, it's still a good idea to scan through them a few times a day. See if anyone asks a question you can answer, or tweets a good post that you can RT.

The main thing is that you want to actually interact with new people - not just follow users. It will help build up your customer loyalty, and yes it can help expand your user base and promote your product.

Monitor Partners

Chances are you have partners that you work with in one way or another. If you're a web app, you might offer integrations with other apps, like Geckoboard does. Even if you're a solo freelancer, I bet there are some people you work with - maybe you're a writer and frequently work with a designer - you write the copy, the other person designs the site.

Follow those people's blogs and Twitter streams. Not only is it fun to interact with partners and friends, but you can also help both your partners out and your potential customers and current user base.

Let's look at the web app example. You're a web app offering integration with another web app. If you notice that other web app added a new feature, tweet it out! It might help your users. And hey, if it doesn't, you're at least helping out a friend.

Monitor Industry Trends

Monitoring industry blogs and trends is a great way to find quality content to retweet that isn't your stuff. You don't have to go crazy - even picking 5-10 Twitter streams or blogs to follow should give you a few different things that you can RT. The aim is to pick things in your industry that have to do with you. For example, if you're an app catering to small business, throw out a quality article on small business account. Whereas re-tweeting an informative, but not relevant link on the importance of getting regular dental checkups isn't as helpful.

Monitor Competitors

First off, as a disclaimer you shouldn't get too caught up in what you're competitors are doing or saying. Take it too far and you're just wasting time. But keeping an eye on new features competitors are releasing or features that users of the competitors product are requesting, can help give you some ideas. Maybe you can add that feature the other user of the competition is requesting. Or maybe you think it's a silly idea and doesn't fit in with what you're trying to achieve. Either way, it gives you information and allows you to make a thought-out decision.

It's Not As Much as You Think

Yes, it's kind of a lengthy list to track, but it doesn't have to consume your whole day. Using Twitter lists and a tool like TweetDeck or Hootsuite to setup columns, you can easily scan content and respond quickly without too much effort.

And when done effectively, making users happier, expanding your customer base, and having a bit of fun really is worth it. I promise.

Geckoboard Widget Profiles: Live Web Analytics with Chartbeat and GoSquared

Google Analytics is awesome for tracking analytics. It's free, it offers a slew of information, it can even send you reports straight to your inbox. But there are a few things Google Analytics can't do, such as offer real-time analytics.

Which is exactly where Chartbeat and GoSquared come in - real time analytics - picking up where Google left off. Both services have live demos so you can check them out to see exactly how they work (Chartbeat demo and GoSquared demo).

Real-Time Analytics

Sometimes your app or blog posts gets mentioned on a large blog, or retweeted by someone with quite a few followers, leading to a large spike in traffic. Google Analytics won't tell you this until at least 3 hours later, but Chartbeat and GoSquared can alert you as it's happening. With both services, you can get customisable alerts emailed to you (Chartbeat includes text or on iPhone push notifications also) about when there's a large spike in traffic.

Unique Engagement Measurements

Both Chartbeat and GoSquared show you the amount of active visitors on your site, how many are new and returning, and how they're engaging. This can come in handy for optimising your website. If you have high traffic, but low-engagement (visitors are coming, but aren't scrolling down or viewing many pages), maybe your content needs work. On the other hand, if engagement is high, but you have low-traffic (visitors aren't coming, but the one's who are coming are looking at a lot of content), maybe you need to work on your SEO and headlines.

You can also see you're top ranking pages, where you're traffic is coming from, and each service gives you an overview of your history.

All of these metrics make it easy to breakdown your data into actionable tasks to improve your traffic and conversion rate while you track it in real-time.

Easy-To-Understand

Both services are easy to use and understand, anyone on your team can use them and have a greater appreciation of where traffic is coming from, how many people are viewing, and how those people are viewing. Your team members can then take that data and apply it to their specific role, such as using the information to help improve the lead generation process.

Using Chartbeat and GoSquared with Geckoboard

The Geckoboard widgets for Chartbeat and GoSquared show you the current number of visitors, along with the minimum and maximum visitors you've had on your site recently, allowing you to keep an eye on your real-time analytics together with your other crucial business information.

Here's what Kevin had to say:

“While I work in a number of fields, primarily I’m an emergency management consultant who helps small and large businesses prepare, respond, mitigate and recover from disasters and emergencies.

I normally do this through my Australian based company Crisis Plan, although over the last few months I’ve worked mostly as a freelance consultant due to the large number of disasters in this part of the world and the need for me to work fluidly between the different regions they have occurred in.

I was lucky to get an invite to Geckoboard pretty early on in their beta period and it has completely revolutionised the way I work and how I track what's going on within my company. It’s the glue that holds my complicated online world together and I can't imagine not using it.

My work takes me to some pretty remote places, often in conditions that would have made it challenging to get on the internet even before a disaster had occurred, Geckoboard gives me a central command post to my business and work life that ensures I know whats happening to all the services that are important to me without the need to log into dozens of sites.

I have a lot of services running through my Geckoboard including Basecamp, Highrise, Zendesk, Uservoice, Pingdom, Chartbeat, Twitter and Google Analytics. When I see a new service that I think may help me run my business then its ability to work with Geckoboard is a huge factor in my decision to use it.

A big part of the reason I love Geckoboard though is that its a set and forget service, I set it up and then it just works without the need for me to do anything but an occasional refresh. The developer and the customer service have been outstanding, they truly want to make it a better service and I regularly see them engaging with customers trying to find out how they can make it better.

I have become really passionate about Geckoboard and how its made my life easier to control, the modern business world is complicated and competitive and Geckoboard gives me a competitive edge in keeping my business running smoothly.”

Find out more about Kevin and CrisisPlan at http://www.crisisplan.com.au and http://www.kswaterman.com.

Our host, Amazon, is experiencing outages in some of their data centres and we are currently experiencing some intermittent problems on some dashboards.

We're very sorry for any disruption and keep hanging on while we wait for it to be resolved.

What would you do with extra time?

Geckoboard's aim is to save you time by putting crucial information from apps you use onto one dashboard. Sure, it might not seem like much, but all that logging in, logging out, opening and closing tabs adds up.

Let's say for the sake of argument it saves you 10-15 minutes a day. What can you do with an extra 10-15 minutes a day to help your business?

• Check your Freshbooks widget and see who has outstanding, overdue invoices and send them a friendly follow-up email?

• Check Basecamp for any quick tasks you can knock out?

• Check GetSatisfaction for an overall vibe of user feedback?

• Respond to a few help requests on ZenDesk?

• Respond to a few @messages on Twitter?

• Check your sites uptime?

• Check your Google Analytics for trends?

• Check Chartbeat to see how many people are on your site right this minute?

• Create a custom widget on Geckoboard so you can streamline your process even more?

Time is a precious resource in every business. What could you achieve with more time?
